After a terrifying, unexpected transformation from woman to serpent, Becca finds herself in danger of being exterminated by the leader of a tribe of Raven-shifting people in Alaska. Even Quinn won’t be able to protect her from certain death, unless he convinces the tribe’s chief to set her free.
While imprisoned, Becca meets Avaan, a charming and handsome man from Lebanon who might be the answer to all of her problems - or the catalyst for them.
Can Becca find a cure for the curse of the Lamia before she destroys everyone she loves?
Harper King doesn’t remember. And she isn’t sure she wants to.
Haunted by the memories of her brother stolen by the Beryllium Orb and plagued by the mark of Lilith glowing in her skin, Harper follows Tyson’s magic-induced visions to Alaska.
Together, they search for the lost Raven tribe and Harper’s parents, something Harper has waited for her whole life. But the Eternal Source has other plans for them, and they are enlisted for a cause that will shake the world at its foundation if it succeeds.
And back at Camp Silver Lake, a dark force bides its time until it can be unleashed…
Harper and Tyson’s story continues in Serpent Cursed, book two of the Lost Souls series.
Bree Moore lives in Iowa with her amazing husband and six children. When she's not busy homeschooling or folding laundry, she sneaks off to write more urban fantasy.
Bree has a passion for pregnancy and childbirth, which influences her female-led stories. She loves shopping for groceries like other women like shopping for shoes (no, seriously), movies that make her cry, and Celtic music. She likes both her chocolate and her novels dark.

You can read the synopsis to find out the plot. This is all about my thoughts on it.
Recap: Book 1 wrapped me up, put me on an emotional roller coaster, dropped the bottom out from under me before dropping me into a pool of my own tears, and quietly moved my shaken soul to the end of the ride.
Book 2? Played me like a yo-yo in the hands of a master. I was all over the place. Happy, mad, sad, scared, burning with the furious heat of a thousand suns, and a few other equally placid emotions. (Beware the sarcasm of the previous statement. There was nothing placid about the emotional toil invoked.) Once again, there's no spice. We get some kisses but you could have an intergenerational reading party without any discomfort caused by the book.
We learn more about events that seemed anecdotal in book 1 and I'm fairly confident that's going to be a theme. I was right about someone I had thoughts about (sorry, trying not to ruin anything) in book 1 and though an event has yet to be confirmed, something I could never have guessed happened in this book regarding that character and... Wow. Just...wow.
Anyway, regarding the Fab 4 (plus an interloper), I am still caught in the grasp of grief, hope, and uncertainty. If I were to close my eyes and listen to the quiet voice within me, Luke Skywalker's anguished "nooo" would best be compared to a saintly mother gently correcting her little one. I need more chapters!!
Off to get book 3 and at the rate I'm going, I'll be willing to drive to Bree Moore's house and watch her kids, clean her house, force my husband to cook her dinner (he's by far the better cook). I'm obsessed. Not Stephen King's Misery obsessed though. I prefer making cups of tea and cocoa to psychotic acts of violence.
Book two finds Quinn and Becca being taken to a security institution and Tyson and Harper on the run after an uprising at Camp Silver Lake. The book chronicles their adventures as circumstances move them to eventually getting reunited only to find them once again separated by something Lilith has done to Quinn and Harper. Becca undergoes a change which may doom her relationship with Quinn forever. Tyson undergoes a change himself as well so book three will be interesting to see if these four can get back together.
This was an exciting book which focused a lot on Tyson and Harper and the challenge facing both of them to emerge victorious from their ordeals!
This is a great series and one I strongly recommend everyone to get and read! It deals with people being different and what society has deemed the best way to help them but is it really? This book deals with the conflict between paranormals and humans but could easily be changed to how humans have treated other humans themselves.
The story is a page turner and one is caught up in the lives of those depicted therein as Harper is determined to change things at the camp in book one and what happens as a result of her actions.
Changes now have affected all of them as well as those back at the camp where they were so the reader is very interested in finding out what’s coming next!
I think you’ll enjoy this series so I encourage you to get both Raven Born and Serpent Cursed and follow this series through to its conclusion and see if these four can once again overcome their obstacles and get back together once again!
This book was much better than the first in the series! The plot was a lot more fluid, engaging and well developed. There were still some errors throughout and I was disappointed to see some use of foul language throughout. Tyson and Harper still lack enough character development, though I liked Becca and Quinn. Harper is just so dull. I had this issue in the first book too, but was disappointed that I still didn't find her character very pleasant. Despite its shortcomings, I thought the story was enjoyable and a fun and quick read. I also appreciated the emphasis on their multicultural heritage and how that tied in with the story.
Thought book one was good, well you should try book two cause it definitely ups the game. Harper and Tyson are back and their extraordinary journey, their trials continue in this incredible world. Exciting, enthralling, we dive deeper into this myth and missing memories. The story is growing and developing, the characters are growing and developing and the author is doing a fantastic job of sucking us in with the questions and the twists and turns. Dark, gritty, fast paced, intense and more then a little intriguing, I cannot wait to see what happens in book three!
Serpent Cursed was a good story, except I felt the author went a bit too deep into the bizarre when Tyson (Dream Walker) and Harper are tested. Also, this book had a few errors and half a sentence hanging, and I was left wondering what Bree was going to say! (Probably a revision) Still, It was a good read and has a nice character twist from book one. I'm going on to Book 3 because Bree wisely left some threads of the story unsolved, and I want to see how she resolves them. I think you'll enjoy this series if you're a fantasy fan.
I liked this book even more than raven born! Moore adds more depth to the characters and their journeys with each trial they face, interaction between characters, and switching perspectives between the four main characters. She builds her urban fantasy world by taking readers to known places but incorporating fantasy elements. The myth of the raven is explored further in this novel, in an engaging, exciting, and new way. Anxiously looking forward to the next novel in this series.
This book started very well and had some really interesting new paranormal beings especially snake girl on the cover as well as someone associated with her. I still really love the creativity of this world. However I don't think the combination of the perspectives from the first book and the two new ones were woven in in the best order. It seemed to have to jump back a lot which pulled me back from what had happened before. I also missed the depth of the characters from the first book.
She is affected by a curse and she needs to find the cure. She turns into a serpent and she is being held captive. She needs help to escape and to find the cure. She has missing memories and she is not sure if she wants to remember. will she escape? Will she find the cure? Who will help her? See if she can find the cure. I’m in awe of Ms Moore’s amazing ability to write such addictive stories. This is a dark and gritty adventure with a whole host of weird and wonderful magical beings. The 2nd in Bree Moore’s “Lost Souls” series turns out to be even more enjoyable than the first. There’s so much more to learn about Tyson and Becca’s new found abilities and we discover where Harper and Quinn’s journey to find their parents takes them. And in the background, evil is on their trail! A must read.
Good story, very intriguing and much mystery to keep you reading. However I do not enjoy nor like at all, the multiple mini-cliffhangers that comes of the multiple Pov's. It's already difficult to make a good balance of the 2 or possibly 3, but more Pov's than that is mostly just messy and disturbs the flow. Too many cooks, too many start and stops...
This book two in the Lost Souls series. Amazing world building that is detailed and imaginable. Fascinating characters that are well developed and diverse. This is a fast-paced intriguing read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
…but I didn’t like it as much as the first one. It kinda feels like the author has to jam as much action as possible in the story before the pages runs out. Also too many characters for me to keep track of.
Harper and Tyson are amazing and we have Becca and Avaan which are just awesome. I really enjoyed the twists in Serpent Cursed and can't wait to get to the third book
Brilliant read. Couldn’t put the book down. It grabs you right from the start. Loved it loved it loved it. There is so much action happening, sometimes it hard to keep track. Personally I find that the multiple points of view helps. It’s not for everyone, but for me it keeps the story fresh with each chapter. The ending was not so much a cliffhanger but a vow of determination to continue the fight. Can’t wait for the next book. This sequel was awesome.
I really loved this follow up to Raven Born. The action is well paced and keeps the pages turning. Ms Moore is creating a wondrous and sometime fearful world where all sorts of paranormals exist and are feared. We meet even more characters and eventually we meet Becca who we hear about in Raven Born as well as Harpers brother.
