TW: Terminal Illness, Death, Grief, Mourning, and Suicide.

What an emotional read! This novel is a rarity for me in the sense that typically, I don't often read novels where a character is in the process of dealing with a terminal illness. Most of the stories that I encounter that deal with a terminal illness is the resulting aftermath for the other characters and how that loss has impacted them. It was a very different and more emotional experience meeting and reading of a character where you knew what was going to happen. The emotional experience for all of the characters involved was very raw and realistic.

This novel is definitely not a lighthearted romance. It's dark, emotional, sad, but also beautiful. Both of these characters have their own individual struggles that they are going through throughout this story. However, their relationship was an example of how in the midst of such darkness, there is light and hope.

This series has been a very emotional one to read but that also has made it seem more realistic and closer to reality.

REVIEW PARTY
⭐⭐⭐⭐, 5

Studente, giocatore, donnaiolo.
Chi era Nixon in realtà?

Caratteristiche: new adult, college, sport, situazioni familiari delicate
Stile narrativo: scorrevole ed emozionante
Tipo di finale: autoconclusivo
Voto: 4 stelle

***4,5 "Stay!!!" stars***

IT'S LIVEEEE!!!!

"Just one night."
One night.
One beautiful, reckless moment.
One chance to forget all of our worries.
That's all I have to give.
All I can give him.

I was anticipating Nixon and Yasmin's story very much and now, that it's over, I'm kinda sad!!! I did enoy it very much!!!
It was a mix of everything... I laughed, I shed one or two tears, i got irritated, I had fun, but damn me, my heart had broken for this couple!!!
These two couldn't be more opposite from each other, or that was what they thought???
Well, Anna did a great job at delivering this story to us and every time that I'm reading something of hers, I'm falling in love a little bit more with her writing skills...

"My darkness.
My heartbreak.
My love.
The man who stole my heart and then broke it into pieces."

Nixon and Yasmin wouldn't have meet if it wasn't for Callie and Hayden...
Nixon is the start quarterback on Blairwood and he is Mr. popular. He is rich, handsome and a little bit cocky...
Everyone is loving him on campus, and especially the ladies. Yasmin is the only girl who seems immune to his charm, even though he had made his efforts with her since the first moment that they meet each other...

"Yasmin Hernandez has been a mystery since the moment I met her. An enigma I wanted to figure out, but could never quite do it."

Yasmin is very focused on her goals... She is running all day long like crazy to catch up with everything.... She just doesn't need Nixon, as handsome as he may be, to distract her from her goals.
She doesn't need another player to ruin her life!!!
So, even though he keeps pressuring her, she has to stay focus and to not encourage him...
Unfortunately, fate is against her lately and Nixon seems to be everywhere... And the worst of all??? He just found out one of her biggest secrets! So what she had to do in order to not be exposed???

"I wasn't sure I could take more heartbreak. And heartbreak is Nixon Cole's middle name."

Well, this story really started lighthearted and fun in a way, but Yasmin wasn't the only one that was having secrets. Nixon had his own too and they were waving him down...
Where Nixon's charm failed to close the deal between them, their secrets and heavy hearts made the impossible!!! It bound them together. And even though they sworn that it was only for one time, they found themselves in a battle of hearts.
Who will win and who will lose??? Is there a hope for them after everything that had taken place in here???

"Yasmin is the kind of girl who deserves the world, and I can't give that to her. Not when my own world is falling apart."

"There is nothing safe about being with Nixon Cole.
He contradicts everything I believe in, stands for everything I hate, but being with him... I've never felt more alive or understood."

"You know you can tell me anything. I'll keep your secret."
"Because I'm keeping yours?"
"No... Because you know my darkness, and I want to know yours."

I loved Yasmin and Nixon!
They were both having their crosses to bare, but hell, they were just perfect for each other...
Their pain clicked them together and made them stronger than they were separetely...
But also this kind of pain can ruin lives!!!
In here, we saw Jasmine's strength and we saw a different side of Nixon...
We saw how great they could be together... But will they see it???
Hell, this was an amazing ride, even though it was making your heart bleed!!!

"Yasmin is my calm. My sanctuary. My anchor. When she's in my arms all the other things fall back and I can finally take a moment to breathe, to think. I'm not ready to lose that."

"As long as I'm in his arms, everything else disappears. I get lost in his kiss, lost in his touch, lost in him. It's just him and me, two lost souls that want to forget everything bad that's happening and just be."

Honestly, I can not wait for the story that Anna will deliver next... I'm kind of addicted!!!
My mind is doing too many scenarios in my head, and I'm wondering...
Who would be next???
Whoever will be, I'll be here anticipating his/hers story!!!

"She's just... here. Holding me together while all I want to do is fall apart."

Kiss to Forget is book two in the Blairwood University series by Anna B. Doe. This story is a heartbreaker! The story focuses on Yasmin and Nixon. Yasmin is a young woman who knows her own mind and works hard to be ay Blairwood. She volunteers, works and studies who comes from a single parent family, so her and her mother have had to work hard for everything they have. She is also best friends with Callie (who we met in book one). Her life is very different in comparison to Nixon, who is the quintessential all-American sportsman. Everything seems to have come easy for Nixon, but behind is suave and cockiness is a young man who has secrets and seems to have the weight of the world on his shoulders. Both of their worlds collide when they go from enemies to lovers, but whose heart will be intact at the end when secrets come to light?

This was a beautifully written story. The chemistry and sass between Yas and Nixon is phenomenal. I loved that Yas didn’t jump to be with Nixon straight away and that it was only through seeing his true self that she saw the man that he was underneath. We see through the eyes of young men and women as they navigate the harsh realities of the world around them and Yas and Nixon are no exception, both having to deal with a lot of secrets and hurt.

This book has a lot of drama and angst at there are moments of true heartbreak! And it is a total page turner! The characters are brilliant, the story is brilliant.

This book is going to bring you to tears! Its about friends/family, growing and holding people close. If you’ve read Anna B. Doe before, you know that this is going to be a great book. If you haven’t read her before, then you need to start now!

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

FIVE EMOTIONAL STARS for Yasmin and Nixon 💖🖤💖🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I’ve been looking forward to Yasmin and Nixon’s book ever since I finished reading "Kiss To Conquer".

I have to admit that this book exceeded my expectations because the storyline went in a completely different direction than I had thought and because of that I loved it even more.

Although I read almost all of Anna’s books, none of those books could prepare me for the outpouring of emotions I had while reading this book.

Some parts made me laugh, but there were also those parts that completely broke my heart.

"Kiss To Forget" is a college sports romance with a frenemies to lovers trope which will make you laugh, but also break your heart a few times.

Yasmin is a strong female character who learned from an early age that to succeed you need to be persistent and put in a lot of work.

I liked her because no matter how hard her life was, she never gives up and is ready to help the people she loves even though it means sacrificing her dreams.

Nixon is a male character who at first glance seems like a typical athlete who only cares about football and entertainment.

But in this book, he has shown his true face and proved that beneath that perfect exterior lies a person with feelings.

A person who is willing to put the people he loves before himself and his needs and do everything to make them happy.

Yasmin and Nixon’s relationship is special because no matter how different they may seem at first, they eventually realize that they have so much in common and that they truly complete each other with all their perfections and imperfections.

If you looking for a college sports romance that will break your heart but also make you laugh, then this is the book you need to read next!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Anna has delivered another 5 star read for me. This is my third book read by Anna and she’s simply an amazing writer. Her stories are beautifully written with pure passion.

Yasmin and Nixon are full of love, romance, angst, and steam all in one book.

If you’re a lover and fan of a college football romance/enemies to lovers trope, you will be swept away in this book.

I can’t wait to read the third book in this new series, Blairwood University, by Anna B Doe. Loved it and you will, too

3.5 ‘I will keep your secret’ stars

‘Kiss To Forget' is the second book in the Blairwood University series
By Anna B. Doe.

“stay,” he whispers.
One word.
One fucking word.
The sweetest of prayers and the damnedest of curses.
Stay.

Ever since I was introduced to Yasmin and Nixon in ‘Kiss To Conquer’ (the first book in the series), I have been dying to read their story. What I expected to be a short and sweet college romance, turned out to be a long read full of sad, hot, dark, and did I mention hot? Moments.
These two who appeared to be different sides of a coin, shared pain, friends, loss, secrets, and unbounded love for their family.

“But there is something about Nixon that draws me to him. That has drawn me to him from the very moment we met.”

Nixon ‘heartbreak’ Cole.

He was Blairwood’s “it” guy- charming, star quarterback, player. But ugh he was so much more! He with his infamous smirk totally had my heart (and my ovaries) fangirling over him.

He contradicts everything I believe in, stands for everything I hate, but being with him... I’ve never felt more alive or understood.

Though not to say he didn’t have his asshole moments, however considering the pain he was going through, I gave him a pass. It hurt to read what he had to go through and I just wanted to go and hug him.

I don’t care if it’s just for a little while; even if it’s just seconds without this constant ache,
I'll take it. I'll take whatever she wants to give me, for as long as she does. Because
somehow Yasmin Hernandez has gotten under my skin. She’s become the equivalent of all
the good things in my life, and I'll keep taking until she has nothing left to give, like the
selfish, greedy bastard I am.

This guy was whipped from the first time he encountered Yasmin and who could blame him?
Yasmin Hernandez was a mysterious enigma, who even I wanted to decode. The only thing sure about her, was her hate for football players.

I wasn’t sure I could take more heartbreak. And heartbreak is Nixon Cole's middle name.

This girl gave a whole new meaning to hard work, she was on the clock the whole time. Be that as it may, the level of respect and admiration I had for her, for both being immune to Nixon's charm and handling things the way she handled them.
I couldn’t keep chasing after men, begging them to love me. Begging them to choose me. Begging them to stay. I just couldn’t.

Finding themselves constantly in each other’s presence and failing at keeping their relationship platonic, they decided to have one night. One night to forget. One night filled with passion, kisses, and orgasms. That one night turned into many more, and they became each other’s calm in the storm.

“Just one night.”
One night.
One beautiful, reckless moment.
One chance to forget all of our worries.
That’s all I have to give.
All I can give him.

But would they be able to survive the loss that’s coming their way...or would it be too much?

My darkness.
My heartbreak.
My love.
The man who stole my heart and broke it into pieces.

I adored how Anna wrote the different relationships in the story, and that too so beautifully. Whether it was a maternal one, a friendly one, a passionate one, or a brotherly one, you could feel the raw emotions of each relationship through the writing.
I love a book with a strong male character but even more with a stronger female character. In this one, It’s the princess who saved the prince with her kiss kisses, not the other way around.

This need to find solace in something, in somebody. No, not just somebody. In her.

Although, I would have liked it more if it was a shorter read, as it seemed to drag for a little while. Moreover, the funny/hot banter I expected to read wasn’t much there.

I would recommend it to those who like the hate-friendship-love trope.
I am waiting to read more books in the series, especially Zane’s story!!!

Excerpt:
Intertwining our fingers, I tug at her arm. She falls on the floor next to me. With my free hand, I push the strand of her hair behind her ear. “You know you can tell me anything. I’ll keep your secret.”
“Because I’m keeping yours?” Yasmin cups my face.
“No.” I trace her cheek with the tip of my thumb. Leaning down, my forehead brushes against hers. I shouldn’t do this. Hell, I shouldn’t have asked her to come in the first place. It clashes with everything we agreed on. But seeing her, it does something to me. She does something to me, something I can’t name, but don’t want to give up. Consequences be damned. “Because you know my darkness, and I want to know yours."

Beautifully Written

I absolutely loved this story! I was not prepared for the onslaught of emotions this story caused!

Nixon and Yasmin's story was everything I needed it to be and so much more!

Nixon is the epitome of everything Yasmin hates in life and yet Nixon is strongly attracted to Yasmin.

Because of their friends (some who like to meddle) they are constantly crossing paths.

Both are keeping secrets from everyone else. When they learn each other's secret, it changes everything between them.

This story is beautifully written. Anna B. Doe has this way of writing a story and using her words so that the reader feels everything that the characters feel.

This might be my favorite book from this author. (Deep breath) I can’t decide if I want to cry or talk more about this book. (Rubbing my tight chest filled with emotions).

Plan for college romance at its finest with family secrets from both our heroine Yazmin and our hero Nixon. (Lovin both those names) Wink. Ok back to the original topic. These two hate each other in the beginning. They are around each other because their best friends are dating. It is true what they say. There is a fine line between love and hate. Ha ha!

As I journeyed deeper into this story, who knew it would touch upon two emotional topics in my life. Sob. Both revolve around my own parents. I am not telling you what they are because you need to experience this story spoiler free. That is all I will say! I might have shed a few tears reading this book.

If you like stories that are about friendship, family, heartache, disappointment, and yes love, this book will not disappoint.

Happy Reading Everyone!!! XOXO

𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘰 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘵 is the second book in the 𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘳𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘚𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 with Nixon and Yasmin’s story.

I always loved Nixon since we first met him in 𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘛𝘰 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘳 - star quarterback of the football team, cocky, sexy, easy going and funny. He always tried to work his charm on one girl. But for her own reasons, she was not having it. Yas is sweet and caring but also tough, sassy and driven with specific goals in life and refuses to be side-tracked. They both have secrets buried deep down they would never tell a soul. Until they just so happen to stumble on each other’s secrets.

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Nixon’s story and it was definitely worth the wait and not what I expected. I was not at all prepared for this beautifully written emotional read. Nix and Yas put me through all the feels with their journey. It was angsty filled with drama and heartbreak along with moments of pure joy, hope and love.

Preparate i fazzoletti Yasmin e Nixon vi faranno emozionare e in modo inaspettato.

‘𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒄𝒖𝒏𝒐 𝒑𝒐𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒃𝒃𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒍’𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 𝒄𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒊𝒂 𝒎𝒊 𝒆𝒄𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒊, 𝒎𝒂 𝒆̀ 𝒎𝒐𝒍𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒊𝒖̀ 𝒅𝒊 𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒐. 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆. 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊 𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒂𝒔𝒔𝒆. 𝑽𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒐𝒔𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆. 𝑰𝒍 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒐 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰𝒍 𝒓𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒛𝒛𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒊 𝒏𝒂𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒐 𝒊𝒍 𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒐.’

My Rating: 5 stars!

**ARC was generously provided by the author in exchange for my honest review.**

Damn. 👌

This was a much anticipated read for me. I immensely enjoyed the first book in the series, and the way Yasmin and Nixon were first introduced in it gave me such a buzz for their story. They had such electricity between them in the little interaction they had in that book that I could only imagine the level they would reach when it was their turn to be in the forefront.

Kiss To Forget does not disappoint. I was invested and deep within the world of Blairwood University right from the very first chapter. This is only my second book of Doe's but I feel like I've been missing out on all her addictive storylines and effortless writing style.

Omigosh. This book is a gradual build-up of pure excellence. I loved every minute of it. There is such sorrow and heartbreak throughout that it was difficult not to get affected by these characters and their lives. When I think about the emotions I went through reading this book, the one that stands out to me the most is gut-wrenching sadness. I was constantly teary-eyed. I think Doe has scored a touchdown with this one! There's such layers, world-building, character development, and constant growth within all the relationships. It's hard to fault when there's so much depth and substance exhibited.

Kiss to Forget is now one of my favourite contemporary romances read this year and one I am sure to read over and over again. Yes, I am willing to break out more tears over Nixon and Yasmin!

Steadily paced and told from both their points of view. Nixon and Yasmin may very well be dealing with separate issues in their lives but they work at it together seamlessly. I don't know how else to say it... it just works! The way they share, listen, and simply provide any kind of support they can is what truly makes their relationship one you can't help but dreamily sigh over. What started out as an entertaining battle of glares, snarky comments, and heated arguments, gradually turns into a slow realization that they may actually have more in common then they initially thought. It's a sight to see! 😍 An organically developed relationship formed from understanding and acceptance — to friendship — to blossoming love.

I was instantly enveloped in the world-building that was introduced in the first book -- the friendships, the different dynamics, and the overall campus atmosphere. This book just expanded that world into so many more layers and possibilities -- not only with the current secondary characters, but with new ones introduced that leaves you just as intrigued. Not only are you excited to read Nixon and Yasmin's story, but in the back of your mind you're anticipating the next set of characters to be featured.

But let's go back to Nixon and Yasmin for a minute here...

I can't put into words worthy enough to describe how much chemistry and zing these two have with one another. It didn't matter if they were throwing hateful words back and forth or if they're doing a complete 180 and being supportive, no questions asked. Their connection's just palpable, swoony, and so relatable.

It'll be tough to top this couple and their relationship off in my books. They physically, emotionally and mentally went through a roller coaster. Whilst there was a shit ton of heartbreak, Doe has wonderfully added enough lightness in between to keep this book from going too dark and depressing.

The dynamic between Nixon and Yasmin is one that goes so well with the enemies to lovers/ hate to love romance trope. It may be a stereotypical story of the popular jock and the overachieving nerd who eventually fall in love, but it damn well works!

But in saying that, these characters are so much more than their status quo. For one thing, Nixon isn't all about sports, parties and hookups. You'll see a different side to him here. One that'll have you falling for him. Hard! But what got to me most was his imperfectness. He has flaws and makes mistakes, but what is so endearing about him is his willingness to try, his reliability, and most importantly his heart. You won't always agree with his decisions, but you'll sympathize because you know overall his heart is in the right place.

Yasmin on the other hand comes off as a no-nonsense young woman, who's ambitious and goal-oriented. She practically has her future all planned out, but what happens when unexpected events get in the way of all those plans? The way Yasmin grows and evolves throughout this journey is just as emotional. You'll feel for her and her vulnerability.

It's amazing how two very different people from different backgrounds, who are dealing with completely different life changing matters, together find peace and common ground.

I can't tell you guys enough how much this story unexpectedly blew me away. I already found it at such a high level of quality storytelling in the first half of the book, but once things escalated further in the second half, it reached an entirely new level. Everything from the atmosphere, to the relationships, to the build-up of their emotions was intense. You'll discover relatively early that not everyone comes away from this story unscathed, yet there's such suspense to see how things will unravel.

Kiss to Forget is new adult contemporary romance, that consists of an uphill journey, complex characters, a spectrum of feels, and one that'll leave you both exhausted yet soothe at the same time. As Nixon is a college football player, there's somewhat of a sports (American football) theme in the background but very minimal.

The story mirrors real life situations with certain subject matters that can be triggering for some readers. But it's also an eye opener to the struggles some people go through in their lives. Beautifully told with all the highs and lows. It may be a work of fiction but I felt like it was portrayed with such realism that you cannot help but connect with these characters and go through their journey right alongside them.

I am all in for the secondary characters too! The support system they've created for one another, and the overall vibe of each personality that gives their group such diversity. All I can say is I hope we get a chance to see a lot more of them in the future!

You will get invested fairly quickly. It'll break you (even if it's only a little bit) but it will be well worth it. Have tissues at hand -- you'll need them! I highly recommend this series and especially this book! It can technically be read as standalone but you'll be doing yourself a favor by reading Kiss To Conquer first to get this world and the characters in all its entirety.

A beautiful story of two broken lost souls discovering a connection within each other, that they didn’t know they wanted or needed.

Yasmin Hernandez on the outside is a strong, independent, sassy and fierce woman. However, on the inside there is more to her than meets the eye. The side that she doesn’t let anyone know or see.
Nixon Cole a strong, confident, independent guy on the outside, but also hiding apart of himself on the inside. Not letting others see or know there’s more to him than what he is and going through.
However that all comes to blow for both, when they both stumble on each others secret. And discover they both are carrying baggage that they're struggling with.

Yet again, Anna was able to take both of their raw intense emotions and feelings and express how it grew from within themselves and between them. Only for Yasmin and Nixon to realise, they were made for each other and meant to be together. And even with both still carrying/holding onto baggage, they were able to understand each other and know how to help one another and get through it. Sometimes without the need for communication. As if their souls were reaching out from within to connect with one another from the strong magnetic pull they were feeling.

Through the many hardships and battles they go through, Nixon and Yasmin struggle to hold it together. Even when with each other, they’re unable to accept that they are meant to be together.
Only when disaster hits and they're torn apart, do they realise there was a reason they kept going back to one another. Constantly seeking the other out, that they’re it for each other.
Showing them, not only is love a battle field. But in order to succeed they have to have trust not only in themselves, but each other.
This was book was definitely another rollercoaster ride. So much to take in and feel with the exposure of the raw intensity of feelings and emotions.

Anna pulled through yet again with Yasmin Hernandez and Nixon Cole’s story in Kiss to Forget.
Words can truly not describe just how beautiful, soulful, emotional, heartbreaking, powerful, moving, touching, uplifting etc this story truly was. It will suck you in from the beginning and keep you wanting more and more as each page turns.
Speaking in football vernacular, this book was definitely a touchdown!
100% MUST READ!!!

Wow! This book hits you hard! So much emotional distress! But it was so worth it! This book is about Nixon and Yasmin. We first meet them in Kiss To Conquer. Nixon had so much charm in Kiss To Conquer so I was very intrigued about him in this book. Yasmin was a tough girl, spine of steal, and a really hard worker. They both go through a really hard time in this book.

Anna B. Doe had my heart in my throat and then it’d slingshot into my stomach. She is an amazing writer! I thought she killed it in Kiss To Conquer but she blew me away in this one. I loved every minute of this book even when I was cursing her! I’m really looking forward to what comes next!

I loved Nixon in Kiss to Conquer, and was so excited to get my hands on his and Yasmin’s story. Let me tell y’all, this book did not disappoint whatsoever!!

Nixon Cole, the easy going star quarterback makes friends wherever he goes... That is until he meets Callie’s roommate, Yasmin. Her instant dislike for him has him intrigued & makes him hellbent on antagonizing her. Yasmin hates everything about Nix—he’s rich and funny, and too good looking, oh and he’s champion football player. He’s everything she doesn’t need or want in her life. But that all changes when she learns that they really aren’t so different after all.

Anna put me through the ringer with this one. I went from laughing at how ridiculous Nixon & Yasmin were, to sobbing about what they were going through. Seriously such a phenomenal story, Kiss to Forget has completely blown Kiss to Conquer out the water.

This college sports romance was everything that I hoped it would be and so much more! The author’s brilliant writing never fails to have me fully immersed in the story and invested in the characters. Kiss To Forget is an emotional, entertaining read that is sure to put you through a rollercoaster of emotions. At times, I was a blubbering mess, but there were also moments of levity. Then there were several scenes where I was swooning and fanning myself.

I couldn’t help but love Nixon and Yasmin - both individually and as a couple. They have their flaws, but they also have many strengths and a depth to them which made them so relatable. There is impeccable character development as the two of them showed great growth as the novel progresses. Nixon and Yasmin have a palpable connection and I really enjoyed how their relationship evolved.

This author excels at illustrating what it is like to be a college student - the social aspect of forging friendships along with adapting to adult responsibilities as well as navigating those complex emotions when it comes to love. There were many aspects of the book that I was able to identify with and the author’s way of capturing the characters’ emotions and thought processes was so realistic that at times I felt as though I was in the book.

Kiss to Forget is book 2 in this author’s Blairwood University series. It is a complete standalone, but I do recommend reading Kiss to Conquer because that book is phenomenal as well. If you are looking for a captivating read that has endearing characters, an engaging storyline, and puts you through all the feels, then I highly recommend this book!

3 It’s most likely me not the book stars ⭐️

The only reason I read this was because I’m dying to read the next book in this series. It’s Zane’s story and he’s been my favorite grumpy side character from the past two books. This book I really had no desire to read but since I read book one, I felt like I kind of had to even though it took me ages to get around to it. The reviews for this book say how sad this book is but much like when I read the first book in this series, I was weirdly detached from all of it. I should have been torn up considering the subject matter in this book but I was so bloody bored most of the time that I skimmed pages. There are books that have too many inner monologues and then books like this that have too many conversations with people that have nothing to do with the plot line and when a book is over 300 pages, I don’t want filler. Had 100 pages been taken out I probably would have enjoyed this more.

Part of why I had no desire to read this is because of the heroine, Yasmin. She’s a strong woman BUT she’s one of those characters that hate other people before even talking to them. She hates the hero, Nixon because he plays football and she hates all jocks because of her past and who her dad is. I’m so sick of that storyline although I also sympathize with her that he was a player and I wouldn’t be into that either but I digress. Nixon is of course fascinated by Yasmin because she’s not falling all over him like all the other girls at school. Barf. Yet, he can’t seem to stop baiting her either leading them to fight constantly until one time she accidentally sees behind his controlled mask and then they fall for each other. But there is so much more to the plot because of all the angsty things happening in both their lives.

I think most people would probably love this book and I was hoping it would grow on me like the first book did because even though book one had some issues, I was addicted to all the drama in it. That’s just not the case with this book and I think it’s a me not the book type thing.

Can I also say that I so hate the 80%, let me fuck this couple up BS new adult books are so fond of giving us. There was so much grief, heartache and pain already in this book that I could have lived without the relationship stuff on top of it. This book would have been so much better if they had weathered the storms they were facing together like a team. They were each other’s anchors so it was just a bit of a letdown for a book I already wasn’t crazy about.

4,5 stelline

Il vero me.

I had a feeling these two were going to give us tension, angst, drama and emotion and I was right.
.
Their chemistry set sparks flying in book 1: A Kiss To Conquer and I’m so happy that they got their own book! I absolutely love them!
.
Yas and Nix, how do I even describe them and their chemistry? Both from different walks of life, one coming from a single parent home and has had to work hard for everything and to get where she is while the other is essentially a golden boy who’s just lived life to their own beat and seems to have it easy. At first glance you wouldn’t think they would work but they really do. The tension was unreal by them trying to keep their distance with the many secrets and hiding their true selves. Both discovered a lot about themselves but also each other which made for a beautiful read.
.
I love their banter and personalities. We sides to both we hadn’t seen in the glimpses we got and both prove that what you see is not always what’s true. I didn’t expect to be hit as hard as I was with this compared to the first so this one was more of an emotional read for me. The heartache, the drama, I was clinging by my finger tips to the edge of my seat. I was invested so much into this book I didn’t want it to end. The plot is amazing, how it’s played out and set is incredible. The word build was amazingly detailed and graphic, I have loved every second of this.
.
Anna truly slayed me with this read. Relatable characters, angsty, tear-jerker, full of drama, and a romance that is definitely swoon worthy, It’s definitely a must read!

5 “Emotional Stars”

“You don’t know a lot about me.”
“And you do about me?”

We meet Yasmin and Nixon in book 1 of the Blairwood series. Yasmin was a studious girl with a itsy bitsy Bitchy Attitude. And Nixon was a Fun loving, manwhore Quarterback. This was the vibe they gave off to each other and all others From the starting of the series. But Now we see that there are Secrets. I mean LOTS and LOTS of SECRET. As each secret is revealed We see that these two are the most lonely and emotional souls of the group But Gladly now they both have each other. This was such a wonderful read which I think should really come with a warning “Be ready to cry your eyes out”. Because I was a weeping mess while reading this book (mainly the last 30%). I love Anna’s writing style and she has once again given us an epic Angsty romance. Can’t wait to find out whose book is next.
PS- Don’t forget to check the Book 1 of Blairwood University “Kiss to Conquer” before reading this. Because 1)You don’t want to miss a fantastic read of second chance, College - Football Romance. 2) You get a good understanding of the characters 3) It is my Favourite Book
