Not only that, what if Death was more than just an event, but a deliciously dark, sexy man. A sexy twin . I never thought I would want death as much as I do, but with the shadows of Daath and Syrion looming over me, I’m not sure I mind spending the rest of eternity locked in their Moonstone castle. They say death comes for us all… but I want him to come for me. This book features sexual situations, including MMF, without M/M.

Myrcedes heard the strange voice calling to her again. She has been having the same nightmare every night for years of someone touching her silver hair, the ground falling out from under her as she sinks into a cold dark liquid, oily hands pulling her relentlessly down into the abyss. She didn’t even try to scream anymore as her lungs begged for air. It only made it worse. Just as she was about to reach the bottom, her eyelids flew open and she sat up in bed, her mouth tasting like ash. She got up to prepare for her first day on her new job at the coffee shop. Nearing her car, she saw movement as a woman paced up and down the fence line. Fortunately today, she didn’t pay any attention to Myrcedes. Many spirits would follow her around if they knew she could see them. That’s why she took this job because there wasn’t much of a ghostly presence in the coffee shop. With homelessness, poverty, violence, and crime getting worse every day, she felt something was coming and it wasn’t good.

She parked and saw two big guys in cloaks as she walked around the building. She looked at their faces and both of them seemed surprised. One was very pale with eyes the color of the abyss that haunted her dreams and her mind screamed DANGER as she ran away and hurried into the coffee shop. The day went extremely well, except that she kept feeling like she was being watched, and that feeling continued each day. At the end of the week, her roommate Lindsay convinced her to come out for a drink at a new nightclub to celebrate. The line to get in stretched all around the block, but when they walked up to the bouncers, Myrcy’s name was somehow on the list and they were allowed in? She soon noticed a man in a cloak standing near the door. He kept staring at her. He was not one of those she saw at the coffee shop, so she finally stomped over to ask why he was rudely staring! He suddenly grabbed her and she found herself standing in an alley! “Myrcedes, daughter of darkness. I have come to claim your life as my bounty,” the man said, and his cold hands felt exactly like those from her nightmares! As he raised his scythe, she felt it call to her – not for her death, but for her to wield it!

When the reaper tried to kill her, she is able to overcome him and takes his scythe. The King of the Underworld, Death (“Daath”), and his twin brother Syrion come for her and allow her to take the reaper’s job until they can figure out how she, a human, could do what she did! Why did this happen? What does it mean?

I really enjoyed this story with a mystery to figure out! With her ability to see the spirits and the reapers, the reader knew there was something extra going on. Will Daath figure it out before another reaper comes after Myrcy?

So. I did enjoy this book till the ending.
It was a quick and easy read, not very deep and definitely lacking world and plot building, but entertaining enough.

Two big parts annoyed the hell outta me. First - the heroine was super bland. The two brothers weren’t that impressive either, but the heroine was simply just boring. And how stupid is that TSTL girl for just signing a contract with death? I GET that he tells her it is basically her only option to protect, but gurrrrrrl at least TRY to use your brains.

The second part was how fucking easy the two brothers get caught. They are supposed to be the oldest and among the strongest beings ever. They “know” shit. They have a fuckton of experience. And then they get caught by a little bit of wood and one single far? Dude. So. Lame.
And guess which almost untrained, uneducated ass walks right into the laid trap of the. Itch that caught the supposedly two Kings of The Fucking Underworld? Ding Ding DING. Our TSTL heroine, because she believed immediately the one of the queens most loyal servants had gone rogue and would lead her straight to them.

Also what’s up with the fires of hell? What is hell? The underworld? Part of the underworld? There supposed to be mor more realms? All of that wasn’t explained at all, it simply got accepted as it is and made no sense to me at all.

Myrcede's life has not been an easy one. She doesn't know who her real parents are, she is different than others. Her only friend is Lindsey. They share a small crapped apartment. Lindsey got her a job at her work, she is excited to start. On her way, she sees two hot guys, that give her send alarms off. She hurries away from them. Lindsey decides they are going to the new club to celebrate. Myrcede's is trying to enjoy herself, even though she doesn't want to be there. She notices someone staring at her, so she approaches him, the worst thing she could have done.
This person is there to take her life, Myrcede's realizes that she will fight to survive. When she manages to succeed, that is when things get really weird for her. Myrcede's life is going to take a drastic turn, she will learn about herself, her powers and much more.

This was a really good book, you just dive into the story and won't stop until you reach the end. You will see Myrcede's grow into a stronger version of herself. Really well written, fast paced story.

ONE FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!!!
Stupendous! Melody has outdone herself with this impressive delight, spinning this intoxicating storyline and gripping plot, ramping up the excitement and adrenaline with such intensity and precision, wrapping this baby up sleek, shiny and tight. Rolling with the drama, intrigue, determination, turmoil, danger, mounting suspense and nailbiting situations along with a boatload of chaos while dodging deadly intents, you have one block busting masterpiece. Cognizant of the instant realization and charged atmosphere, along with a bevy of unbelievable twists and shocking turns, putting our characters through their paces, ratcheting up the heat and magic, drawing them closer than they could have ever envisioned. The personalities are well matched and blended with just enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow magnificently. Remarkable job Melody, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Lover to the Kings of the Underworld. Myrcedes has been having the same nightmare every night for years. That she is drowning in an oily black body of water. Then one night a reaper tries to kill her, she overcomes him and takes his scythe. Then the King of the Underworld, Death, also known as Daath, and his twin brother Syrion come for her. She swears to take on the reaper job only until they can find out why she, a human, was able to take down a reaper. But when she gets to the Underworld and is training with Daath and Syrion she feels more at home than she did on Earth. But then another reaper tries to kill her. Now they must all find out why she has been targeted, and why she seems to have special powers, one the fires of Hell. What they don’t know is that she is part of a prophecy. A prophecy that will change all of the worlds. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review

What if, one day, you were suddenly able to see Death and you realized that it wasn’t just an event, but a very sexy man and, what’s more, he had a twin brother?
Because, right now, that’s my problem, and honestly, with guys as sexy as Daath and Syrion, I’m not sure I mind spending the rest of my days locked in their Moonstone castle.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.

Our heroine sees ghosts, but as it turns out, that is not her only ability and that draws the attention of Death himself (and his brother).

This is book one of a new urban fantasy story. So start here. Duh.

This is an urban fantasy story with ghosts and reapers. The story is very well written and sucked me in right from the start. I really enjoyed the well developed setting and I can't wait for future books so I can see more. Similarly, the characters were also well developed and I really enjoyed the interactions between them. Overall, this was a fast paced, fun story and I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Highly recommended

Myrcedes has been able to see spirits all of her life - and has for a long time suffered a recurring nightmare where she is drowned in a black, oily lake - she never manages to reach the bottom of it, and relives it over and over again.
When she and her best friend visit a new nightclub, she is attacked by a reaper - and kills him.
Death and his brother Syrion take her to the Star House - she must train to be a reaper, so that they can protect her and find out who has a reaper defying Dath himself.
Will Myrcedes succeed in her training? What will happen between her and the gorgeous brothers? Loved it!

The "blurb" for this book sounded intriguing and different and I had no idea what to expect when I downloaded the ARC. But I needn't have worried the book lived up to my expectations. The story was fast flowing, intriguing and different and like nothing I had read before. There's a good deal of mystery too to keep the reader guessing.

The characters are very well drawn and the chemistry is hot. All in all for a first book in a series this one is a winner and showed a lot of potential. Although it did take a little while to some get into the story as the author set the scene.

Finally a good book😁
I love books with a underworld and reapers and this book was so good! But I would have loved to read more about her training. We were told nothing about her training except the last test to officially become a reaper, I also wanted the book to explore more about what it means to be a reaper. The brothers were such good characters they had different personalities like ying and yang as the author described them and you can really see the impact the FMC had one them.

Two hot men that open her eyes to the Supernatural world thats all around her & that she has no idea about. Loved the dynamic between Myrcy, Daath & Syrion. It was funny at times and smoking hot to read. I cant wait for the next book because this one was totally brilliant

Note: I received an advanced review copy in exchange for my honest review.

I wasn’t sure what to expect; but I really grew to like each character that came along. Both the main and secondary ones.

The plot’s mystery and unknowns were really good and pulled me in, along with the hot moments too!

This definitely is a series I’m highly interested in more. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s a lot of potential for a great series and this is such a good first book!

I love the guys. They are different but both have incredible passion and chemistry with the heroine. As you read, you watch as Myrcedes character grows and evolves with neither lagging or feeling rushed. She has an antagonist that placed a bounty on her head to spur her along and to add some color into the plot with assassins. I am so glad that this is just book 1 and can't wait for the next book of the series to come out but I am not quite sure how it will match this one.

OO!! I like this one. The story is told from a different view. Daath is one of those beings who is always there without him their can be no life. Sort of the concept of which came first the chicken or the egg. A part of life that can not be over looked. But this story gives it a different outlook. It is more humanized. I look forward to seeing more adventures in this realm. I received a complimentary review copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Dark Hunter, the first book of the Court of Life and Death series, is a book I picked up through Kindle Unlimited. A nice start to a series. Readers are introduced to a fresh, unusual plot, interesting characters, and fast-paced action. This is a series with potential to get better and more surprising with each book.

This was good read. It took some time to actually get into the story but otherwise was good. It would be good to see what happens after she takes the throne and what becomes of her as she grows into her powers.

This was a new take on death and reapers. Myrcedes was always unique and could see the dead. As the story developed, I enjoyed the supporting characters in the book. This book also had the perfect steam level to keep things interesting. I hope we get more stories in this world!

A girl sees human spirits, then a grim reaper tries to kill her, she snuffs him out. Then the primordial Death and his brother appear and take her away for safekeeping. On the other hand, death is one horny guy and keeps flirting.
I found the whole thing boring.
