When I began writing Taylor and Leander's story, I had NO idea it would capture so many of your hearts and imaginations. Thank you for loving them as much as I do. You are making my dreams come true.

I can't take this series anymore and that's saying a lot considering this is a series of novella sized books. I'm tired of having to keep track of so many characters that were presented all together with barely any distinct characteristics. They're blurring together and I just don't care enough, at this point, to remedy that.
The story is moving at a glacial pace. I thought I wanted to see how Taylor and Leander's story end, but I don't care enough about the story, the characters, and the peril they're in to keep putting myself through this book. Enough is enough and I've just found my limit.
Well, okay. I guess... Sigh. I'm not over the moon at the biggest character development the plot took in this book. Taylor's feral-side being a psychotic, murderous, evil bitch doesn't sit well with me and I'm just not a fan.
Mainly because I like my heroines to be, at their core, good.
Having her other self be so dark and evil makes me wonder when the other shoe is going to drop... Like she could turn on Leander at any moment. Her darkness, which she reveled and gloried in so completely, makes me feel like Leander is getting bamboozled somehow. So I totally get where other-Taylor is coming from and why there's this hesitancy and trepidation with the Phalanx around her. And I hate this feeling of trepidation because I love Leander very much and I want to yell at him to say "You can't trust her!!!"
So, honestly, the conclusion to Leander and Taylor's story arc was quite a let down for me after the high of book 3. Don't get me wrong, the writing is great and the story is engrossing but I would've wanted things to go in a different direction.

Oh god. That took a turn for the fucking cartooney and groan-inducing.
Within pages, I had to start skimming because the author went full on with shit she probably thought was dramatic but reads like the shit 12 year olds find edgy.
Plus that fucking reoccurring witch's pea/witch's pee joke was weak and awful and I hate that I had to read it like 4 times with my own two good eyes.
"You spit out my pea!" *Everyone hears "pee"* Taylor hastily corrects by spelling "Not P-E-E, P-E-A!" *everyone who heard* "Ooooohhh."
Like this dumb shit could have been avoided by calling it literally anything else. Sphere. Bead. Drop. Candy. Bean. Ball. Orb.
But no. The author chose "pea" for that horrible urine based pun and I resent it.
So, turns out that DUN DUN DUN, Taylor is the daughter of the evil shadow dude who Leander took the throne from and the shadow dude isn't dead.
And she's a faerie. And her mom tried to hide her from evil by making her a changeling. And once her special magic necklace is ripped off she turns into a cartoon villain, all but twirling a mustache deviously. She even is suddenly like, highly sexual and went from meek virgin to prowess bitch who immediately drops and starts sucks sucking dick and I'm like why does being sexual liberation equate to being evil for women???
And it turns out that Cecile is her sister and the human who Taylor took the place of (So, I'll call her Other Taylor and the heroine Original Taylor) is Cecile's friend from when Other Taylor was in the faerie realm. And it turns out the mom told Cecile to find Original Taylor but neglected to mention that they were sisters or that Original Taylor was part of some evil necromancer prophecy.
And then it turns out that Taylor isn't evil but that her feral just... is... evil...? And because she was under a spell so long it just took the fuck over.
And then it turns out despite evil necromancer shadow man acting super interested in being Original Taylor's dad that it was all just a ruse and he is evil and doesn't care about her and also wants to steal her body for himself! And it turns out the new magic necklace he gave her is actually a ruse and it's meant to mind control her! DUN DUN DUN!
And then she dies.
But immediately resurrects herself because Special Snowflake Prophesied Chosen One!
And I'm just over here like did this author leave out any of the cliche shit or did she just pile it on thinking "excess will make this a success"?
And then there's more nonsense about war and Taylor becoming a queen and being oh so saintly in her pro equality movement and then there's an epilogue saying evil isn't fully dead so the author can abuse us with more terrible novellas.
This didn’t do it for me I’m afraid there just isn’t enough individualisation amongst the characters involved to set them apart and they all started to blur into one the story itself is imaginative but everything else could do with some major fleshing out I’m slightly disappointed because the first book did capture my attention.
Taylor is either super naive or in this case super evil the two extremes for me didn’t gel well. I’ve definitely hit the end of the road and unfortunately won’t be carrying on with Beth and Gareth’s story.
Overall this has been ok but there was also something missing. I’m also not a fan of Taylor’s super nice persona to the point she has no blame whatsoever for what Cecile and her friend did to her. I didn’t like her evil side much but at least it had some personality which was better than meh Taylor.
In this 4th installment Leander and Taylor's story culminates with their ceremony and been king and queen of winter realm. There were pleasant surprises and others not so much. The turn in Selene's good attitude was magnificent. The touch of humor in the character was pleasant. But Beth is still my favorite. Leander and Taylor were much more explosive and hot together in this part. Like all previous books. We finished with a suspense note. I emphasize that if the author had built or developed a more detailed fae world, she would have earned five stars. All the books have been very entertaining. I'm dying to start reading the next book.
Beyond the Mountain by Lily Archer is book 4 in the Fae's Captive Series. This continues the story of Taylor and Leander, so you should read the previous books 'Fae's Captive', 'Road To Winter' and 'Bite Of Winter' to fully enjoy this one. This book just as the other ones started where we left off in the previous book but with this book it wraps up their story. Although the Ms. Archer did leave me wanting to read more on Gareth and Beth. For me this was a really good series and I hope to read more from this author.
Continues right were book 3 left off and BAM we are hit with all kinds of goodies in this book! Taylor is no longer our little damsel in distress now she is a BAMF and gives no effs. Not going to lie I'm liking new Taylor. I am a little confused however, it seems there is a book 5 and while I realize with that ending the story is far from over, I'm wondering if we aren't going to be getting into some of our other entourage's stories soon? Looks like Taylor might have fixed the mate curse there? I'm afraid to give out too much info because we get all the backstory and spoilers in this book. Loving this series and eagerly awaiting book 5 to see who its going to be about because even though we suffered a great loss.. we still came out victorious in this book.
I lived this series! But hell man, Cenet was a straight up douche. I honestly think Gareth (not in this book though) and Selene were my favorite characters. Oh and Feral Taylor...that was awesome. I deff recommend this series 💋
But I totally should have. This was a really satisfying conclusion to act one of this story. And knowing who we get to narrate the next bit makes my heart so happy. This book was longer then the rest which helped with the wrapping up nicely. There was one bit that felt a little rushed. There should have been more tension internally before a certain control snaps but other then that I’d say it was all handled really well for the allotted time and space. I will for sure be continuing on this journey, I wanna see where it all ultimately ends.
This one's so hard to rate, because on one hand I really liked how everything honestly got wrapped up here, but on the other hand I actively hated the first 45% of this book, so it's like how do you rate 60% of a novella?
And the answer to that is, I'm going to give this 2.5 stars (rounding down). This was definitely my least favorite of the four novellas, and I don't think I'm going to continue with Beth and Gareth's story because of it.
Well, not anytime soon anyway. I need a break from this world, but I'll definitely try books from this author again.

This is the fourth and last installment in Leander and Taylor’s story. It was intriguing and so easy to read! The ending though wasn't my favorite as it's more of a "Happy for Now" kinda ending with a glimpse in Beth's story.
I feel like it was rushed? Evil is finally revealed and then defeated within a few chapters, seeming so easy even though the previous books spoke of how terrifying and powerful the threat was.
Despite this, the writing is still really good and I like the characters.
This was a MEAN end to the story of Taylor and Leander. No pretty bows with a perfect happy ever after. It makes sense in the context of the overarching plot, but I’m still sad. Taylor had an interesting personal growth arc, but Leander didn’t have much of one. Also, I got a bit annoyed by the plethora of pop culture references in these first 4 books. I get that the FMC is nerdy, but why would she keep using references she knows no one will understand months later? All together it was a good story
Yikes, this was...something. And can I just say, Taylor constantly comparing thing in the fae world to pop culture is just lazy exposition and a poor method of trying to get away with blatantly ripping something off. I hope Beth and Gareth's story is better because they were the best part of this series.
So honestly the entire time I was reading this I was like, is this Game of Thrones?? The King Beyond the Mountain (Wall), some other odds and ends that I can't recall right now, anyway, what I'm saying is that it had that GOT vibe about it.
This is the final book for the h/H pair and it had a satisfying ending. I did think that it went a little over long with the wedding. Ceclie and other Taylor were such minor characters that I literally didn't care about any resolution with them which seemed to be the major point of the last few chapters.
I gave this four stars but it probably only really deserved 3.5. It is entertaining. I'm glad this one actually ended at a logical cliffhanger as opposed to just in the middle of a scene but over all the series is pretty cliche. Still, it was fun, I read it all.
Although if I do read the next books I'm waiting until that story arc is finished before picking them up. The cliffhangers are forced, they end at awkward places, and I literally don't remember what happens at the last book before I read the next one because they end in the middle of the scenes so there's no like, brain bookmark for me. Also if the author is going to continue with that nonsense, it costs nothing to add a short page that rundowns where we left off when the next book starts.
This was such a great ending to Taylor and Leander’s story, but I guess it was more of a to be continued for the overall story. I am really hoping that we get to see all of Leander’s comrades find their mates as well. Plus I am not ready to leave this world!
In this book we finally get the answers about what Taylor is and her past. I will say that the ending did feel a bit rushed and I wish it would have been a little longer, but overall, I am super happy about how this story wrapped up.
I really loved this shorter books that you could pretty much read in one sitting. I will say that if all the books were not out, I would be dying between installments because they all ended on huge cliffhangers.
I will definitely be continuing on with this series and can’t wait to read about the next fated mates!
I want more of Selene!!! She was the highlight in this book.
I still feel the story is not concluded. We still have an unwritten path for Taylor to take and now the bargain she made is hanging over her.
I will say Epilogue II was the shit. I was not surprised and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
The intro to Beth+Gareth's story, I'm still not so sure about it. I keep wondering is theirs a love that will grow or is it that Gareth felt the mating bond and kept quiet about it?
There is a wide cast of characters who could form the next books. I'm hoping for more of each of the phalanx getting their story, but in one book.
This is without a doubt the best of this series yet!!! I'm in love with Taylor and Leander!! Lots of twist and turns! This book tied everything together! FINALLY, FINDING out where Taylor came from but I started to suspect something similar. I Laughed so much with this book!! It was my favorite combination of funny and hot! I'm on pins and needles now waiting for Beth and Gareth!!! Beth is without a doubt my favorite character 😆. She's so dirty LOL! I LOVE HER! with the BEST humor EVER!!! ON TO THE NEXT ONE ....
Wow! What a finish to Leander and Taylor's story! Lots happened throughout this book that I wasn't expecting. So all that was a nice surprise. Taylor and Leander's story gets wrapped up really well in this book. And I can only expect that they'll grow more throughout the next books. But since the next books are following Beth and Gareth maybe we'll only learn more of Taylor and Leander in passing. Who knows. But I'm definitely giving the next books a go. :D
I'm loving this series so far! I can't wait for the next book in this series! The world building is awesome and POV from hero and heroine. I'm just wondering what's preventing other Fae from recognizing their mates? What's blocking it?
I am obsessed with this series of Fae books. Everything I love about fantasy/PNR storytelling rolled up with a hunky Winter King. Gah! Loved it. Need the next book in this series ASAP!
