This is book 6 of this series and I did not read the other books. I do want to go back and read the rest at some time. But I had no trouble understanding the characters or what was going on. Luke and Emily Hutchinson are hosting the entire crew at their home in Charleston’s historic district for an early Christmas celebration. It’s the first time they’ve all been together since Em was captured and Luke almost died taking down his nemesis in Beirut a year ago, and everyone is looking forward to sharing some Christmas magic together. Except one of them has unknowingly brought a deadly threat to their doorstep. Just as Sam and Ben are leaving for Luke's, Sam receives an envelope with a piece of paper with numbers on it, a key and a drive. She decides to work on it at Luke's house. That is when everything starts to happen. When Sam starts working on the information , she discovers a group of special forces officers who have gone rogue and have hidden bank accounts from working with terrorists. This has put a target on her back.
Thank you to Kaylea for sending me the ARC to review.
SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is the sixth instalment in Kaylea Cross’ contemporary adult SUSPENSE romantic, military suspense series. SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is the culmination of five storylines wherein the author follows-up with the couples we had previously met.
NOTE: SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT timeline advances the series approximately one year but it has been close to ten years since the release of the last book –ABSOLUTION #5 (Luke and Emily).
Told from third person perspective SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT focuses on the days before Christmas Eve wherein the former and current military warriors will be gathering for a holiday celebration at former Navy SEAL and CIA contractor Luke Hutchinson’s house but a former foe sets his sights on Luke and his crew. The killing of a Middle East terrorist is only the catalyst in a series of events that results in the abduction of two of the wives when a flash drive containing secrets and codes is mailed to Samarra Sinclair (No Turning Back #3). Meanwhile Emily and Luke are waiting for the results of Emily’s latest tests, results that could break our story line couple.
SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of betrayal and vengeance, espionage, secrets, blackmail and lies. Kaylea Cross pulls the reader into an emotional, heart pounding and captivating story that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.
Wow. This book gave me all the feels, grab tissues!!!! The whole team is in this book. New developments and a Christmas in Charleston. Luke will always be my favourite badass but man I forgot how much I love the twins Rayne and Dec too. Putting this one into my favourites! Please make more for the suspense series kaylea xx

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I almost did not read this book, as it led me to believe that I had to read the previous books in the series prior to reading Silent Night, Deadly Night. However, a glance at a few reviews from readers who like me never read the previous books, reassured me I would have no issues jumping at book number six. I am glad I did, as this installment can stand on its own. However, after reading it, you will want to read the previous books. This story features all the characters from the other books, and it had me eager to read their stories.
In this installment members of an elite military group and their respective spouses are in preparation mode for a holiday get together at form Navy Seal, turn CIA contractor Luke Hutchinson’s home. However, danger lurks when one of their own received a mysterious envelope containing a flash drive with encrypted data. What followed was a story filled with suspense, action and danger.
I had a wonderful time meeting the characters. Their bond shined throughout the story. Despite not meeting this wonderful group before now I found myself invested in their wellbeing. There were moments when I feared for them and hoped that they would come through unscathed.
The story pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat for most of it. The action did not let up and had me turning the pages. Amid the suspense and danger, the author delivered some heartwarming and humorous moments that had the reader laughing and tearing up a few times.
Silent Night, Deadly Night was a suspenseful, action-packed and heartwarming Christmas story, which featured awesome characters. If you are in the mood for a short and well written suspenseful story, filled with humour and brimming with emotion, then this would be a great addition to your library.
I devoured this book in a day, it was the epilogue I didn't know I needed in this series, and the fact that it lasted a whole book (albeit a short one) was just the bonus. I loved that we have each character's POV and glimpses into each couple's life.
In this book we have all the couples from the series coming to spend Christmas at Emily and Luke's house in Charleston. But as always with this groupe of people nothing can stay calm very long :) The day they leave their house for the airport to go to Charleston, Sam receives an enveloppe with a paper, a key and a hard drive. She takes it with her to study it once she arrives at Luke's, but what she uncovers puts a target on her back.
My heart is full with love with these characters, and this series solidified my new-found love for this author, and I will be sure to read all her other books !!
Although this book is a follow-up to the Suspense Series and is not meant to be read as a standalone, it can be read and enjoyed without full knowledge of the characters and their stories.
Kaylea Cross has done an amazing job of creating a story which brings back characters which, I'm sure, are well loved by those who have met them previously.
I don't fall into that category and can absolutely assure other readers that this holiday story stands straight and tall on its own merit.
With a house full of retired and active military and other service personnel, you know you're in for a less than average Christmas. Death, dirty dealings and destruction all form part of this short, but no less intriguing, novel and is certainly worth a read.
Luke and Emily have planned a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday season with all their friends and family and can’t wait for the party to get started. The one thing they hadn’t planned on was for was that one of their guests had attracted the attention of some dangerous men and now everyone is in danger.
When their celebration is interrupted in the most devastating way possible the others team together to protect those they love, which takes us on quite the ride filled with action and emotion. Catching up with all the characters we know and love is an adventure you don’t want to miss.
SILENT NIGHT, DEADLY NIGHT brings back the SUSPENSE series crew but the holidays are not as peaceful as everyone hoped when an enemy targets Sam. I enjoyed seeing all these couples again and seeing where they are now. An action packed read with some sexy moments and found family.
Content Warning: Emily is a cancer survivor and is waiting for test results on whether or not her cancer has returned
I confess I'm behind on this series but I couldn't pass on this book. I love when all the characters in a series come together to celebrate the holidays. Although this one has more than just a couple twists and turns and surprises too.
As the book opens Luke and Em are leaving her doctor's office, we are going to be challenged to keep all this in the back of our minds like they are trying to do. Em is very much looking forward to everyone being together this year and is putting together the perfect festivities.
First to arrive are their son Rayne and his wife Christa. Of course Rayne senses something is wrong but is wise enough to keep it to himself.
We meet up with Sam and Ben as they are preparing to head to the airport. An envelope arrives that once the content is decrypted will add an unsavory twist to this story.
Dec's mission has a frustrating end but he will be able to join his wife Bryn at Luke and Em's in Charlotte and he's looking forward to it.
Ben's twin brother Rhys and wife Neveah would be joining them as well and Luke is thankful since Nev is a doctor and would look out for Em.
Sam and Ben almost immediately set up shop in Luke's study also reading him in to what's going on. It's not until Dec arrives that they actually figure most of it out including who's involved. Then all hell breaks loose. See the excerpt below, it's a favorite scene.
I loved this book, I laughed and cried and enjoyed the heat between these couples even as I nibbled on my nails. I'm going back to do a re-read of this series, I forgot how much I loved it.
This was an exciting story, full of suspense and intrigue and lots of family love. Luke and Emily are celebrating Christmas at their house with their entire "family." Rayne and Christa arrive first. He can tell something is worrying his mom and he thinks it's health related. Bryn is coming although she knows Declan, a SEAL, is on a mission. Just as Sam and Ben are leaving for Luke's, Sam receives an envelope with a piece of paper with numbers on it, a key and a drive. She decides to work on it at Luke's house, which will result in a series of events. Rhys and Nevaeh are on the way. Declan is also on the way as a surprise. When Sam starts working on the information in the envelope at Luke's, she discovers a group of special forces officers who have gone rogue and have hidden bank accounts from working with terrorists. This has put a target on her back since they need this information and this has put the others in danger. When Sam and Bryn get kidnapped, it's up to the others to find them and rescue them. Ben gets injured and almost dies during the rescue. But by Christmas all is well and several very special announcements are revealed making this a very Merry Christmas. Their family is once again surrounded by love and happiness. I couldn't put this book down. I received this book for free for a honest review.
I actually have not read the 5 prior books and it was mentioned that we should, but I honestly was able to follow along pretty well. It would have been nice to have the background stories of the characters, but it did not really take away from the storyline.
Family and friends are gathering at Luke and Emily’s home for the holidays. A mysterious envelope is mailed to their friend’s, Sam and Ben’s home, Sam is unable to encrypt it on the fly, so they decide to bring it along. This triggers the danger and suspense that this author is so well known for. Even though I do not know all of the parties involved you can feel the closeness and camaraderie between them all. They are a tight knit team and this definitely comes into play when danger tries to take a few of their own.
Silent Night, Deadly Night not only had the nail-biting suspense, but we have this monumental sense of family. There was also a health scare that could have derailed all of this, but they gather around and support each other during the good times and bad times. This was a wonderful novella to read during this holiday season.
The story has secrets, pain, and holiday gathering.
If you have not read the below, I would recommend reading those books(s) first Out of Her League (Suspense Series, #1) Cover of Darkness (Suspense Series, #2) No Turning Back (Suspense Series, #3) Relentless (Suspense Series, #4) Absolution (Suspense Series, #5)
This is about Emily and Luke’s holiday gathering. They invited all the team to get together and celebrate but with his team comes danger. Someone is out to break him team and will stop at nothing to take them out. The team must fight and try and figure out the danger before they lose everyone. Can they figure it out? Or will it become deadly before they can take out the threat? How many will they have to lose to come out the other side?
I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. Very emotional story that will have several triggers for some. But all and all it was a great story.
We really loved this latest story! I loved this story from beginning to end of the story as it was heartfelt and filled with so much love and as always was filled with a bit of a mystery and drama to keep you intrigued and turning the pages.
We loved these characters they are so awesome each and every one of them. We loved the alpha men and the way they loved their women with their special skills and protective nature right down to the possessiveness they have for their women but, each man has the perfect mate in their women and the love they all have between each other is so endearing it touches one heart.
The whole story I felt like I had to fan myself! Lol and kept thinking what would it be like to be loved like any of the men in this story. More fanning.....
Overall a touching read that we absolutely loved and what's more it had the perfect ending to a beautifully written story surround the Christmas Holidays! So loving this series!
OH MY HELL! I needed an invite to this Christmas with these strong & sexy people because their drama isn't like the normal family type of holiday drama. See, Luke & Emily Hutchinson are having the whole crew over for a early Christmas, but they sure did get more than they bargained for. There's danger in the shadows, and someone brought it with them though it wasn't on purpose of course, but it did make things very nerve wracking since it's of the deadly variety, so things went sideways. Yeah yeah, I know I'm being cryptic but Kaylea Cross is so amazing with f-bomb worthy twists (even when it's Christmas time) that I just don't feel the need to give detail away because it will be so worth it to just read it for yourselves. I was on the edge of my seat while saying some not so nice things, and I had a great time. Anyway, that's all from me, and now it's your turn! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
There’s something about Christmas and having family over to celebrate with you. When you have special forces, CIA agents, Dr’s and then your son, daughter in law and friends coming to stay with you, it’s the best time of the year. When one of your friends receive news in the mail and she needs to figure it out, but there are people that want the same information she received and they are coming to get it. How will Christmas turn out when they find her? Will everything turn out for the best? This a terrific book and I just didn’t want to put it down until I finished it. I would recommend this book to everyone. You will never be disappointed by any book that Kaylea writes. The characters come alive and you can live for a while in her stories. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is the stunning conclusion to Kaylea Cross’s Suspense series. Even though it’s not marketed as a standalone book, I honestly think it can be read as one. But as an avid Kaylea Cross fan, I can honestly recommend the entire series.
NICUnurse’s Rating: The whole gang gathers at Luke and Emily’s house in Charleston, South Carolina, for Christmas this year. But it’s not all fun and games with this group when an unknown nemesis wreaks havoc on these couples. I love reading books by Kaylea Cross because she does the twists and turns of romantic suspense so well, and she continues to weave her magic in this story. There are moments that are sweet, moments that are heart-pounding, and moments that will leave you swooning. What more could you ask for in a holiday romantic suspense book?!
I give Silent Night, Deadly Night by Kaylea Cross 5 out of 5 stars!
Ok now I've stopped crying at the final scenes, I have to say this is an amazing book. This author is one of my auto -buy writers for a good reason and this story demonstrates it so well. Military, alpha heros, revisiting characters, action, intrigue, sexy bits and enough emotion to need a half dozen tissues, did I mention throwing in Christmas and Kaylea Cross outdid herself. A Christmas gathering of the people who mean everything to Luke and Emily should have been straight forward but a last minute item turning up with Sam and Ben, puts a whole different spin on the whole holiday. Without spoilers there isn't much else I can say, you'll have guessed I loved it, cannot recommend it highly enough, read the series to get the full benefit and enjoy.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is the 6th book in the Suspense series. I loved this book and getting to catch up with Luke, Emily, Dec, Brynn, Rayne and Christa as well as the twins and their ladies, Ben & Samarra and Rhys & Nev. I felt like I was meeting up with family and old friends.
This book has it all. Passion, angst, suspense, sexy guys defending their women and strong women kicking a$$. In addition, the spirit of Christmas ties it all together.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is so well-written and in the author's usual style, I felt like I was apart of the story rather than simply reading it. I give this book 5+ stars and highly recommend it.
What a way to wrap up a series. Silent Night, Deadly Night revisits our favorite Suspense series crew as they are getting ready to celebrate the holidays before disaster strikes. This book is so well done and places us right back into the Suspense world. Christmas, love, action, heat...what more could you want in a book? Right when you think the action and suspense is over, bam here comes something else. High intensity and loads of heart, this book keeps you on your toes and is the perfect way to revisit and wrap up an already amazing series. If you are a Suspense series fan, you will love it. If you’re new to this world, hurry up and read 1-5 so that you can get to this one.
Hold on and get ready for a heart pounding reunion with the crew from the Suspense Series! This series was full of intense situations, Strong Alphas and the even stronger women who love them. Everyone gathering for Christmas at Emily and Luke’s should be full of joy and relaxation. Unfortunately, that just isn’t possible and parts of their past rear their ugly head. What follows is a roller coaster ride that will have you experiencing every emotion in the range. This was a fantastic way to catch up with this crew and even tie up a few lose ends.
It’s almost Christmas and everyone is meeting at Emily and Luke’s to spend a few days. Emily is so excited and is in her element. When one of the couples receive a strange envelope, they take it with them to work on it. What they don’t realize is that danger will be following them to Charleston. Two of them is taken and it’s up to Luke and his former team, to rescue them. But when one of them is wounded, will it be a Merry Christmas?
So good. You have suspense, action, and sex. Be prepared to cry so keep the Kleenex’s next to you.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for the author *
Wow, so nice to catch up with Luke and Emily and the rest of this crew❣️ Sam and Ben are about to leave to join Luke and the rest of the gang for Christmas, when an envelope addressed to Sam turns up. Unfortunately, this envelope brings with it unexpected danger and follows them to Charleston but this crew is nothing if not prepared and pulls together to fight and stay on top😍
A wonderful story that I loved😁 I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️
Kaylea Cross was the first author I read in romantic suspense stories and I've been hooked ever since. Always amazing stories with wonderful characters that you will love. This book is no exception. Romance, suspense, intrigue, fear, edge of your seat story that you won't want to put down. Great story with small glimpses of past stories in this series. Absolutely loved it. If you like romantic suspense, you should definitely read this book (and this series). You will not be disappointed.
I received an ARC of this story and I am leaving my honest opinion/review of this story.
Although it probably would have helped to have read the previous stories in this suspense series, you can actually follow along quite well without.
This is a novella, so it is a quick read bringing back the crew, but the holidays won't be the relaxing time they are expecting. Drama and suspense will be lurking.
This story keeps you riveted to the page and is short, but no less entertaining.
I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.
I loved this book!! This is part of the suspense series and It’s recommended to read the previous books first so you know the characters. ( and because the previous books are just awesome!) It’s one of my favorite series so I was very happy to catch up with Luke and Emily and of course the rest of the team. . It felt like I was meeting old friends 😍 This Christmas novella has everything, suspense, action, drama and it also made me laugh. Highly recommended! Definitely 5 stars!! I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion.
Silent Night, Deadly Night is the follow up holiday story to the Suspense series. I haven’t read the previous titles but completely enjoyed this well written and engaging title. Luke and Emily have invited their family and friends to Charleston to celebrate the Holidays. Their holiday celebrations are interrupted when one of the guests unknowingly attracts a threat. Silent Night, Deadly Night is an emotional title with strong themes of family, friendship and love, with plenty of action, intrigue, suspense and danger. Overall a great novella for the holiday season.
This gang was where I started reading her books. To my knowledge with the exception of one, I have read every book she has out. That being said, it always comes back to them. It was so good to get another chance to see the gang on an adventure. To know where Em & Luke stood. To see where everyone else was. Here’s hoping this was NOT our final peek into their lives. So much adventure, so many characters with layers of depth and emotions. Sigh, what can I say... and Luke & Declan, who will always be some of my very favorite book boyfriends!
A new look into the lives of the couples in Cross' Suspense series. Luke and Emily Hutchinson have invited everyone for Christmas, not jut Rayne and Christa, but Ben and Samarra, Rhys and Neveah, and Bryn and Dec. However, a threat is approaching in the form of a man who has tracked some of their group. From an evening tour of "haunted" Charleston homes, men arrive to disturb the beautiful day. The men are forced into action to save two of their group. When an attack leaves another almost dead, another type of attack is needed. There's a nice touch there, too.
As the final pages of this book approached, I began to feel sad because this series is over now. Such an amazing series with great heroes and strong female characters.
It's probably best if you know the back story on all the characters before you read this book although the suspense and action can definitely carry you through.
If you are a Kaylea Cross fan, you will definitely appreciate this story....I was completely impressed because she was spot on with her Charleston geography and it warmed my heart!
