“Put myself out there.” That’s what my friend convinced me to do. I never thought I’d hit it off with a devilishly handsome rookie running back my first night out. Martin Avondale. He’s been called “fresh meat” so many times he answers to the nickname. I thought I beat the odds when we first connected but now my life is ripping apart. My friend insists she claimed Martin as her own. Now she's hurt and out for revenge, taking all sorts of ridiculous risks to break us apart. The worst part? It's starting to work! They say love can conquer all, but I'm not sure it can even survive this rollercoaster ride through crazy town. Taking Risks With the Rookie is a fun, ridiculous sports romance with a hunky alpha football player, a innocent heroine trying to get her feet on the ground after a breakup, and an agressive, unapologetic girl-gang that calls themselves the Jersey Chasers. No cliffhanger. No cheating. One super hot happily ever after.
You wonder who your real friends are. Will they be there thru your think and thin in life situations? Will they be a wolf in sheep clothing? You wonder will they stand by you when you need help? Be a shoulder to cry on or just be someone to rely on, You will find out who your real friends are when you want them to be your sounding board. Asking questions on whether you are doing the right thing or not. Just listening and not passing justice on whether you are doing the right thing. Help you up when you fall. Not letting your jealousy come out over a man because you saw him first and did not make a move on him. Finding out later the man you had your eyes on is the man that I am talking to. Causing friction because I am the one he wants. Sadie stand up for yourself and not letting your so call friend Kelly steal your man Martin. Be happy for me, not under hand me trying to steal my man. To have a friend like Kelly you do not need enemies. Kelly was a piece of work. I love how this new author for me told this story about so call friends. Sadie got to see who her friend is and was all over Martin. This is an entertaining story.

Sadie is hanging out with her “friend” Kelly when she meets Martin. They begin talking and hit it off. They spend hours just talking and Sadie finds herself thinking maybe Martin is it. Sadie is finally happy again after the terrible breakup and she is excited to tell her friend Kelly about this new relationship, but when she tells her who she is seeing Kelly flips. Kelly wants Martin for herself. Martin is the hot new rookie and Kelly has had her eyes on him and they haven’t even met, but she is determined to claim him as her own and will stop at nothing do get him. Talk about nut case, Sadie has to find out the hard way that Kelly was never a true friend. Will this come between her and Martin? Ashlyn Hope is a new author for me and I like her style of writing. Her storyline was good and it made me feel as though I was right there with the characters. I loved Martin and the way he didn’t let anything come between him and Sadie. I am looking forward to reading more books from Ashlyn.

So, I must say that this book just did not capture me. I found myself skipping sections to hurry up and get to a good part. Or just skimming the words.
There were places that the author clearly meant a different person and had the wrong name mentioned. She calls Paul, Martin during the fight scene at the stadium.
This book is about finding yourself among all the drama, letting go of things that cause grief or pain, accepting the good in life, and finding pleasure in the small things.
But there is just too much high school level drama for me.
This is book two of the series, I have not read book 1 so I am not sure if I am missing something vital but I would not recommend this book.

My first of the series which seems standalone but with so many characters you may be enticed to read more of the series to see if your favorite character gets her own story. I loved our h in this story. She seemed very down to earth and a nice girl. Her friend Kelly must be manic. She caused most of the angst in the book.
I don't think author knows much about football. At first I thought it was soccer because story said players were on the "pitch" which is English "football".
I there wasn't much to Martin. No depth. I think I actually knew Paul, her boss, as much as I knew about Martin.
I liked that it seemed a few dates before sleeping together.
Kelly seemed diabolical. That was some fun writing!!!
So I'm torn on the book. Let me know what you think.
This was such a sweet romance and unlike the rest of the athletes, Marvin is sweet and sure of himself. He doesn’t try to play games. It was just a sweet novel and bit long and but at the end I wanted more. It had spots where it gives you more info in places you didn’t want it and others that you do they late but I loved the story. Their story is so different and it’s beautiful so much went wrong when she found the love of her life but they overcame everything and such a good way. I look forward to all other stories from this author.

Okay so overall I really enjoyed reading this book. I read the first book in the series a while back but it all came back to me right away. Especially when the evil Kelly reappeared. Another man she thinks is hers when he was never hers in the first place. And when she turns on her innocence friend all h*ll breaks loose. I found the story engaging and fun and you just fall in love with Martin. Him and Sadie were like two peas in a pod. And you will live their happily ever after

Taking Risks With the Rookie is book two in the series Jersey Chasers by author Ashlyn Hope. Firstly I want to apologize for taking awhile with this review- I’m a bit OCD and I just had to read book one first, then I realized I loved it so I had to purchase it, so I purchased this one too. Anywho, wow love this story- it’s like a fairytale with the wicked witch, fairy god person and everything!! Great storyline keeps you wanting more!! Enjoy!!

Sadie, fresh off of a hard break up, meets Martin, a widely known football player, unexpectedly at a club while out with her friends. Martin and Sadie hit it off. Their story is one of growth. Theirs is full of drama and takes several twists and turns. I like that Sadie grows during the story. I like the way that Martin treats her and the way he feels. The secondary characters help to form the story and they do their job within the story well.

A gripping romance that is full of drama, humour, ups and downs, crazy, and intrigue. The story line is well thought out, emotionally deep, and consistent; I was captivated from page one until the end. Strong characters you will love and root for; the chemistry between them is amazing! This book will pull you in and is guaranteed to leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended!

Wow! After reading this story, I ran and bought the first one in this series. Loved it! Sadie was a character that was easy to like and hope that she gets happiness. Kelly was crazy and added so much drama that it is a major asset to the story, she is not just a filler character. I enjoyed that Sadie took a little bit of time before jumping into bed and thought this helped them be believable. Martin is also well written and made you feel his hotness!
Poor Sadie. Somehow life seem to have it out for her. Cheating boyfriend, work problems … issues on every front it seems. But sometimes it is great to hold on for the ride because you might come out at the other end of the tunnel into the light.

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!
