The first three books in this series have been action packed, humorous, with females that can hold their own in a scrap. This book is totally different. Although it is still filled with action, the overall tone of this one is more emotive, the heroine is unremarkable, scared even. But Kyris is a darling, I want one ♥️
I kept getting bored during this book. It was super repetitive. The plot had its strong points and both MCs were lovable in their own way. There wasn’t a lot of getting to know each other, which isn’t too crazy because they’re trying to survive against not awesome odds. I just… I wanted more.
Spice: 3/5
Triggers: mentions of SA, abduction (off page), captivity (off page), animal attacks, poisoning, battle, violence, gore, panic attacks, coma
I liked this one the least out of the series. I get that the author was probably trying to digress a bit from the plucky heroine archetype, but Song lacked any and all agency in her situation. She was quite literally a picture of a character sitting in a corner, quivering, letting someone else fight all her battles. She wasn’t even helpful in subtle ways, like “oh I see you (Kyris) are the bad ass fighter so I will help cook and gather food, clean weapons, fashion useful things to help us survive, or at the very least ask a lot of questions about this world and this life and about who you are so I can use that knowledge for later…”
NOPE.
Selfish. Scared. Self-centered and self conscious to the point of debilitating.
Even if this kind of person is probably more true to life than the other characters…it’s not something I want to read about unless Song has her own kind of redemption arc. And let’s be honest, this isn’t *that* kind of book.
Let me start by saying I just luv Kyris and all his “brothers” and their lady loves. I love the backstory that runs through this series. But our heroine in this book...ugh. Not only is she TSTL but she’s just too naive, too unwilling to fight for herself or help Kyris when they are in mortal danger. One thing that just rubbed me the wrong way was that he’s hurt at the beginning of the book. He’s wincing in pain throughout yet she never seems to notice he’s in pain. She never interprets any wince or even seems overly concerned that he too crash landed and may have been hurt. Maybe it’s me but she spent a lot of time worrying about how cute he was while he worried about their survival. She got on my nerves. I do like seeing the other characters again. The ending is too sweet but if Kyris is happy...sigh...So am I.
I get it. She has black hair. It's a wonder. I get it. You're scared. But the 166 pages of crying I just couldn't take. Let a sand monster eat you. Preferably, it would leave the black hair for him to remember you by.
Kyris is the second explosive sci-fi book in the Captured by Aliens series by AG Wilde. Kidnapped and sold by vile creatures who take and breed no matter who you are. Creatures who torture, rape, and murder, no matter the consequences. It is a dark, high-stakes danger with romance, action, tension, vicious battles, danger, and suspense. A series that should not be missed.
But hot on their heels are aliens that have lost everyone they loved to these creatures, hoping to stop them to exact revenge. These new aliens are loyal, have courage, and will take on all looming threats that jeopardise their lives and the lives they swore to protect. These alpha heroes find something they thought would never be possible, and that is a connection with humans in the face of uncertainty and danger.
This one wasnt as good as the other ones but it was still okay.
One thing that bothers me about the series so far is the fact that the author continually stated that the women couldnt smell the weather. Which is just... its false. Humans smell rain better than sharks can smell blood in the water. And Im dead serious. Humans can scent petrichor and geosmin, the scent of rain, at five parts per trillion. Which is 200,000 times stronger than the sense of smell of a shark. Its a small thing but humans are literally designed to smell rain. So everytime the female MCs are so caught off guard by rain I just want to shake them because humans tend not to get caught off guard by rain because we can smell it before it happens. We can smell rain falling from miles away.
Its a small thing but it bothers me nonetheless
EDIT: Another thing.
Song talked about making tampons with the hide shit. Which what? First of all super unsanitary, dont put random shit you dont know up your cooch, especially considering it isnt shown to be absorbant and hasn't been cleaned. Infections here we come! But secondly, we have her decide to make these 'tampons' and we dont hear about blood, we dont hear about her changing the tampons, we dont even hear about what they did when she was paralyzed. All I can think about is holy Toxic Shock, Batman!
Like without knowing or explaining it, all I can infer is she is just rocking around for days with one singular, unsanitary, unabsorbent, dirty plant tampon in her cooch just marinating up there as a breeding ground for bacteria because she has forgotten about it. Like what?
This isnt even to bring up the fact that her periods were so bad she was screaming from the pain in near fetal position but it was totally normal for her, yet the next bit shes running across sand dunes without a peep about her cramps. Where did they go? Did the furry plant tampon in her choochie contain pain killers? Like where did the pain go?
All of these are plotholes that could be fixed but they honestly detracted from how I enjoyed the story. They really did.
EDIT 2: I just realized while pondering the entire series that Song was supposed to be Asian and that just makes the book so much worse. Like so much worse. Her innocent, weak archtype becomes really horrid because that's a massive stereotype about Asians, especially with her being oh so good in bed. It feels like fetishization. And I say feels like because I'm white but realizing afterwards that she was Asian makes it just so bad. She literally wasnt written well enough for me to realize she was Asian in her book, granted I started skimming, and that doesnt mean writing stereotypes about it. But it means actually showing us the culture.
Looking back her family was going to Japan, so there was no talk about her knowing the language, and in a supposedly first generation immigration household, she should know the language. That didnt pop up. She also didnt share any of the cultural attitudes that would have been in her household at the time. There was nothing to showcase that she was a first generation Japanese besides the author telling us. Which is just so wrong. If you wanna add diversity, make sure you do it properly.
At best she was labeled Asian to create diversity but thats it, she was just a white woman otherwise. At worst the author really tried to write an Asian FMC but filled it with microagressions and stereotypes and was really ignorant.
I dont know whats worse tbh, both are really bad

This one had some plot holes in it but it was still good. If I was to say what the plot is missing I would give away the book and I don’t want to do that. However, even with the holes it was still a really good book. These two took a lot longer to get to know each other. As they were in prisoner together and stranded on muck together. So they got to know each other. This allowed for less misunderstanding as with different cultures this is going to happen no matter what. I just wish the plot for this book wasn’t used the author could have taken it a different way and explained his world and hers better to each other. 3.5 stars though give this series a shot it’s worth it and it has spin offs that are really good too! ~My Book Obsession Approved~
Best book in series so far. Hands down- BEST hero so far. He was soooooo kind, sensitive, caring, and generous from the time he first met Song until the end of the book. Other than Crux the other heroes were selfish jerks in the beginning- not really caring about the women's feelings.. Kyris was wonderful!!! I probably would have given it a 5 rating except for the heroine. Dont get me wrong, she was sweet, and understandably, traumatized and scared. But she was just a little too wussy. That being said, Kyris was perfect for her. He wanted to and did take care of her... On a side note, the period scene was absolutely hilarious! Literally lol'd multiple times.

This one takes place after the previous book in this series, so I really recommend reading this series in order. The two of them travel together on this desert planet to try and find civilization. They fall in love along the journey :)
I really liked this one! It was super sweet! I love how Kyris was a totally sweetie towards Song.
Kyris & Song book 4 of the Captured by Aliens 5🌟's
This is one of my favorite series. Each book has been a complete adventure filled with action and danger as well as the discovery of passion and love. The male leads are loyal, alpha, strong and fierce and when they meet the human females they discover an attraction they didn't believe possible. This fourth book in particular was fantastic. I would love to be a kick butt type heroine ready to do battle if I was abducted by Aliens. But seriously I think the majority of us would be like Song in this book. Terrified beyond the point of reason that it's actually paralyzing at times. Song is young only 20 and just finishing her last year of college. It the only time she's been away from her family. He rather and older brother have discouraged dating until she finishes her education. So worldly on an Earthly level she isn't when she's taken its beyond her ability to adjust or truly find something worth fighting for. Until she's thrown into a cell with Kyris he's a rebel and he and his brothers are tightening against the Tasquels a horrible toad like species that does despicable things to others because they are wealthy and powerful. Kyris along with his brothers have deliberately gotten themselves captured they plan on wreaking havoc and freeing as many slaves as they can on the Tasquel ship. Until the human Song is thrown into his cell. The minute he sees her and the sheer terror that consumes her his protective instincts to through the roof and in his heart he promises to protect her at all costs. It starts out as duty but does not stay that way for long. Duty some how passes and instinct to protect, nurture and take away all Songs fears takes its place. I would give just about anything to find myself a Kyris of my own. This book is not just about surviving abduction and a planet out to kill you but the true evolution and development of a soul binding relationship between to beings. It's a stunning gorgeous read and I highly recommend not only this book but the whole series. I know there is definitely one more book in this arc of the series and I only hope the author continues to explore these rebels and the other possible humans that were kidnapped in future books. Thank you so much for making these trying times a bit better by writing such wonderful books to escape into and call in love with.💖💖💖💖
The book is enjoyable, but being the 4th in the series I was expecting... more, i guess.
Ok, right into it, the good:
-Kyris. Honestly, he saved the book for me. We finally have a hero who, along with Crex, cares about the woman almost instantly and falls completely head over heels in love with her. Kyris is caring, protective, and goes hell-bent on trying to prove that he is the perfect mate for Song. -We finally got some answers about Earth's status/ why it seems to be so easy to kidnap and abuse humans with NO protections for humans once they escape. >>>So the planet is designated as 'protected but not available for contact' due to humans not being ready under interplanetary law (or something) and the tasquals are obvi breaking the law to kidnap and rape the women from Earth. The problem is, they are doing it "sneakily" (I guess??) and there isn't enough proof to go to the law makers with accusations against the tasquals. Ok. it's a pretty flimsy explanation considering there's 5 human woman (+3 from the other series) that could petition/be witnesses... but it *is* an explanation. And with the explanation comes a goal: find the other 20+ humans and that should be enough to go after the tasquals for breaking intergalatic law.
The bad:
-Song. I'm sorry! I'm not necessarily against a female protagonist who is 'weaker' or not capable of fighting... but Song cried every two pages! Every little thing that happened in the plot made Kyris obsess over Song's black her and made Song cry. those were literally the 2 things that repeated every couple of pages! If you're not gonna be a fighter, then at least be a survivor! Song was basically just carried through the story and dragged to the ending. I was almost hoping someone would drop her to fend for herself for a bit just to see if she'd actually survive or just lay down and die I mean cry.
this book made me realize a couple things abut myself. I should prolly preface this by saying that, personally, I found the FMC unrelatable to downright irritating as the book progressed. My initial review was a mere 2 stars but after some reflection I've realize that based on her background culture and sheltered lifestyle, nt to mention the lack of maturity which can be excused by her age and the prior 2 aspects then who she is as a person makes sense. Women are infact multifaceted so I appreciate the author trying to convey different personalities among the women. And thus I gave a bonus star but I felt the book was thou okay, just not my cup of tea. Perhaps if there was a better or more in-depth portrayal of some growth/maturity throughout the journey maybe I would've like the story as a whole better. I'm a strong FMC gal and the opposite just don't be giving what it's suppose to have gave.
Idk what happened in this series I don’t find the chemistry like xul and athena in any of this series. After xul i was so excited to continue this series becoz xul was so so..Good. Even crex was good but not that good like xul. I don’t even want to talk about yce.ughhh I don’t even understand anything in that book. Tbh I thought that book will be so good. Becoz y’know? Diana is a feisty one and yce has some super power and both will be the badass couple but it didn’t happened what I thought. They both were so awkward. And i feel the author made a forced romance btw them just for the sake of the romance book. So after yce kyris was somewhat okay but still so many words in this book for no reason. So many dialogue And i didn’t like the female in this one she is kind of stupid?? And weeping and weeping….ughhh i hope kyro is also not like this. I give 2.5⭐️ for kyris.
Read for the bigger plot line, but the couple sucks
Song is real disappointment after the rest of the FMC in this series. She is weak and annoying. Kyris is also annoying & dumb, not in an endearing way. The whole angel-like being fighting his feelings to uphold his morals is a snooze fest. His obsession with her dark hair & eyes was kinda fetishizing to me. Plus her virgin status. And the period stuff. Her debilitating cramps only last for the first couple of minutes and then are never mentioned again. The couple is a mess but at least the larger story has some development.
A. G., this was absolutely brilliant! I am half Japanese. I was born and raised in the U.S., but spent many summers in Japan, and even lived there, after high-school. My parents brought me up in a very Japanese atmosphere.
I am so thrilled that you wrote a book that featured a Japanese woman as one of the main characters. I find that Asians, as a whole, are largely underrepresented in pop culture. Thank you so much! You did a fabulous job, and I gotta say, when you mentioned the kotatsu, my heart squeezed, as I remember this from my childhood, at my grandparents house, in Takanosu, Japan. A+++
I enjoyed the first 3 in this series. Song was too whiny for me, I had to skip pages. The whole novel was fight, flight, whine. I hope the 5th novel is a charm
Ugh, I really wanted to like Kyris, I loved the idea of him. But this book... was not it.
I'm asian, and reading a book about other asians written by a white woman, always puts me on edge - some white authors write other races and nationalities well, some are littered with microaggressions. This one was the latter.
Every character up until now has had some inner strength, or some semblance of an ability to care/defend themselves, and while I understand that not every character needs to be this way, why was it the choice to make the japanese woman the crying meek innocent one who always needs saving/protecting? And her family dynamics... Just falling into stereotypes.
Then you add that to the fact that she's the only virgin so far - and this is after Kyris repeatedly talks about how corrupt his thoughts are and how pure and "innocent" Song is. Song also had the joy of not only having her period while roaming the desert, but also to be the first squirter during sex. Asian woman are fetishized, and this fell in line with that.
Kyris seemed to have yellow fever and really only wanted Song because she had dark hair and was someone he could protect (which I normally let slide in these types of books, I am no stranger to alien-instalove). And overall, I think if Song was written different, I wouldn't be so turned off by Kyris. They hardly talked, and suddenly she's in love? No banter, no flirting, no really any connection outside of lustful gazes, cuddling, and Kyris killing sand scorpion things. This could have been done much better. Asians deserve better rep than this.

Alright. It's Kyris and Song's turn to deal with planetary weather issues and other oddities while trying to make it back to their compatriots to finish the battle against the bad guys. While the other women who were abducted are of the strong, take-no-prisoners type, Song is...not.
She's completely overwhelmed and running on fumes after seeing what she saw on the alien ship. She doesn't have the survival skills the other women have. She's shell-shocked and on the edge of falling apart.
But she holds it together. Mostly. She's kinda tough on herself at times, but she manages and she figures things out. Kyris is a big part of why she's not dead, sure. He gave her a safe place to pull herself together when things got rough and he's pretty hunky for a winged alien. (Once she wraps her head around the idea of them being together, she really likes his hunkiness and wings.)
As for our winged beefcake, he does what he has to do to protect his human. She likes him and he likes her and THINGS HAPPEN. Eventually.
The crew is slowly being reunited (with a bonus T-Rex thrown into the mix) and things are looking up for all of them. Provided the bad guys don't show up unexpectedly to do their bad guy things.
This is the fourth book in the series, and the beginning takes place directly after the events of book two- so concurrently with book three. You will need to read the other books in order for it all to make sense. In addition, the books have an ongoing background story which means there is a book hook at the end for the following book!
Song was abducted by aliens, and rescued by other aliens. When she crash lands on the sand planet of Muk, she has only Kyris to help her survive. The two head for an Outpost, but have many impediments in the way...
Our hero is an angelic looking being, with a few differences, and the heroine is Japanese. The hero comes from a society where the females are the aggressor in a relationship, which means he has a few issues coming to terms with the young, and rather submissively natured Song. As with the other books in the series, they main characters crash on a planet and have to run a survival gauntlet. In the midst of all this,we actually have a character dealing with bodily functions, a piece of realism that is often missing from books, and leaves you wondering at times! An enjoyable sci-fi romance, that anyone who enjoys sci-fi adventure stories will enjoy.
This book covers Song, an introverted and sheltered main character. I was really wondering how her character would play out. We met her in the previous books and she was a fearful and shy character. Song's journey is one we all need to read. It reminds you that although you might think/want to be the strong, fighting bad guys kind of character that you might not be and its ok. Song was sheltered and being abducted was more than a shock. You saw her lean on Kyris and her friends. You see some serious growth, but it didnt change who she was as a character which I was very glad for. I kept cheering for her the whole time. And LAWD have mercy was there some serious action going on in this book. Of course the Kyris was sexy and sweet and kicka$$! It was great that this was a slow burn love story since these characters were different from the others. I really wished we learned some more about Kyris' home planet and wished for more explaination once they were rescued as I was a little confused about what Kyris was "seeing" but that did not detract from this book!
Definitely the weakest of the series for me. I struggled with Song as a character. I absolutely understand that not all heroines can (or should be!) innate badasses, and there are different kinds of strength that are worth highlighting. However, Song didn't have any strength of any kind. She didn't even have resolve. When a character can't fight or learn to fight, you would think there would at least be some resolve to survive? Even when she was asking whether she should get her own food, etc. it felt manipulative, not helpful. The author does make some effort to explain some of Song's less endearing qualities but it's just not enough to make her a sympathetic character. I felt the urge to DNF during Song's POV at certain points.
That being said, Kyris is a beautiful angel man with a filthy mouth and the reason this gets 3 stars (even though I find his attraction to Song inexplicable).
From the previous reads of this series, I found the females strong or getting stronger and learning, in some way how they can contribute to help their alien mate when needed. The female Song, I felt her character was written weak and not that intelligent. You read her character from the previous reads as the weakest one, so I was looking forward to her own alien mate read and how the author will bring out her Wonder Woman, which she did not appear at all, her character made me embarrassed as I read on. Kyris the main male character is the hero and Songs alien mate, it was how his character was written by the author that practically kept me reading on, I’m thinking Kyris female needed to be Rocker chick.
Of all the characters so far, I liked Song the least. She was the frightened mouse who seems to never have had to fight for anything other than finishing college. She annoyed me with her crying and fear. I felt bad for Kyris. He seemed to love being able to totally take care of someone, willing to die for them. Song almost cried when she thought she had to get her own food. And was ultra shy about most things. They would have had the easiest journey had Kyris' wing not been damaged in the landing. I was happy that an author brought up a women's menses and how that could affect things on an alien planet. This book also brought up other issues that I'm hoping with be addressed in Kyro's book.
Kyris A different H. He isn't as bad ass as some, but like Crex, there Is instapull. And this H, is the most mate orientated of them all . Again the male parts were overdone which made me keep on thinking how is this going to work. And then there was an extra dilemma to ponder on. There was a descriptive bit of grit detailed via memories from the h and although she isn't as strong and sassy like previous heroines, she seems to work with the unsure, reluctant Hero. There were some delicate moments in the storyline that moved the plot along from an unusual perspective. There are different adversaries in this book, along with the old ones. I did find a few more plot holes in this instalment though. All I can say is Thank goodness for the little yoda lookalikes
I still enjoyed it but I had a hard time connecting to Song and Kyris. This is probably the only one in the series that's a true instant love/bond. Song wasn't a bad character, but she was a little too relatable. I too would pretty much be useless and cry the whole time if I were abducted by aliens and gone through all that trauma. The problem is that when I'm reading a book I want to escape my reality lol. Kyris was sweet but wasn't my type of male lead. I'm not even sure why, so please take this all with a grain of salt. The book itself was enjoyable enough, but was not one of my favorites in the series.
