Yasmeen Hailey has just moved back to Langston, her hometown, for a fresh start after a major setback. She's not looking for love but she wouldn't mind having a little fun. Handsome restaurateur Larenzo Black is trying to put his womanizing ways behind him and focus on business. For him, women are trouble. They're both running from their past and when they crash into each other, sparks fly. But Larenzo's best friend in the world happens to be Yasmeen's older brother, and every man knows that's a line you never cross.
This book started a bit slow for me. The beginning was very cryptic. Yasmeen was clearly dealing with something, but 16 chapters in, we still didn't know. Though, we had an idea, but we didn't find out till ch. 17. Lorenzo made it clear about his past. So Yasmeen was aware of his ways when it came to women, yet when they got it in, my dawg went in raw. Yasmeen allowed him to go in raw. As she finds out more about him, she then started to question who was this man she was sleeping with and how reckless has he really been. Both were broken people fighting their own demons, which I completely understand, but some reason, these characters weren't very likeable to me. I didn't like either Zo or Yas, but Yas more tolerable. They kept making poor decisions without thinking about the repercussions. Zo, couldn't stop thinking with đïćķ in the beginning. This man kept pursuing Yas, knowing he wasn't able to give her what she deserved. I mean yes he's working on himself and has improved tremendously, but still he wasn't ready and he was aware of that. IMO, Yas was too available, especially after their fight. I feel like Zo didn't really fight or work to repair what had happened between them. I felt like some stuff were left incomplete, mainly the oral sex thing. I really wanted to like this book, but it was meh for me. I will admit, the ending was well done. The HEA was super cute. I've read books by this author before and I've thoroughly enjoyed them, but this one was a little off. But this definitely wasn't a terrible book. So read away readers.
This was a really well written love story. Older brother’s friend is always my favorite. I loved that they delved into mental health. I just wish they would have gone deeper into. Yasmeen and Larenzo were cute together. They brought out the best in each other.
This is the first book I’ve read by Shae Sanders and I enjoyed it. Yasmeen Hailey has moved back to Langston for a fresh start. We’ll learn everything we need to know as we read this older brother’s best friend romance. The best friend is Larenzo, Zo, but he doesn’t have the best reputation with his dating life. He says he’s working on changing, but is that true or just what he wants people to believe? I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say if you’re looking for a smart, savvy black woman as your female main character, I think you’ll enjoy this book. Grab your copy and get ready to want to read more about Basil, Adonis (Yaz’s two older brothers) and Asia, her best friend, when you’re done.

Yasmeen has just moved back to her hometown to get a fresh start. She bumps into Larenzo who owns a restaurant in town. He’s vowed to stay away from women until he crashes into Yasmeen, who also happens to be his best friend’s little sister. Can he keep the bro code or does the sizzle between them burn too hot for him to ignore? I enjoyed this entertaining romance and look forward to more from this series. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
My first book by this author and I can honestly say it did not disappoint. The characters are well developed and engaging. The storyline had substance and flowed easily.

I got more into this book maybe around the halfway point (ish). Prior to that, Yasmeen was on my nerves with the constantly-changing emotions/attitude about Lorenzo, not to mention her begging and bravado. And Lorenzo wasn't terribly endearing to me, either. I can appreciate their coming together when they each needed someone, but their ascent into becoming a legit couple seemed really fast, considering where it started and how intense it grew to be at the end. I just didn't quite buy it, I hate to say. And the elusiveness about Yasmeen's condition went on a little long for me, and it was kinda anticlimactic. I thought I'd see more of Asia, considering she was her bestie but she seemed to kinda disappear as the book progressed. But I see she's gonna be in the next one in the series.
There were some funny moments and I can always appreciate a man that takes care of his woman. And I love a protective big brother that doesn't go overboard. So there were certainly some good points. I might read the next one.
The Boyfriend Type was hands down one of the best books I’ve read in the last year or two. Yaz was perfectly imperfect and struggled with anxiety and depression like so many individuals. I really empathized with what she had gone through and her will and determination know her limitaations and exert her independent from concerned family members. Now that Lorenzo, was a whole other thang! Talk about someone needing to redeem themselves! This man, smh, was an straight hoe… oh, reformed hoe 😂. Zo had some issues too, and was working on being a better man when Yaz moves to town. Ah, these two… I love to see it!
I could read this story over again and again, that’s just how much I enjoyed it!Can’t wait for the next story in this series!!
This was a pretty good story. I liked Yaz and Larenzo's story. Also I liked how non-judgemental and supportive that Larenzo was with Yaz's conditions. I haven't read very many stories in this genre with a cutter as the main character. So it was good to see a different character. I also liked that Lorenzo wasn't always a standup guy and he had a past that wasn't so great. I liked that the Hailey Family and how they joined one another as a unified front to check on Yaz. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's story in this series.

This author has fast become one of my favs but I didn't care for this one too much. Mainly, it was the way Zo and Jaz began their relationship and the terms that came with it. And the fact that everything was built on lust. I loved the rest of the plot and how they both were honest about the demons they were fighting along with the struggle to overcome. Eventually they seemed good for each other and I'll read the sequel to see how they handle being publicly official.
What you need to know: this book contains no cheating, no cliff-hangers.
All-in-all, you would not be reading reviews if you were not already intrigued by the blurb, so I will stick with what you need to know: Great characters that will keep your interest extremely well. You will find plenty of toe curling steaminess with a laugh or two along the way, and smile on your face from their happily ever after.

I’ve come to expect witty banter and laughs from Shae and this hit the spot. Yaz and Zo are a riot. I loved that this book tackled real issues (mental health and inappropriate sexual encounters) without making it the theme of the book. They were both on separate journeys to better themselves as individuals without anyone needing to save them. It’s refreshing.
It’s official, I am obsessed with Shae Sanders writing!!
Shae girl you keep me well fed with these bossed up men and these independent women who don’t back down and I love it!
Yaz and Larenzo were black love goals and I just really enjoyed their story and I also appreciated the anxiety rep and how it was flawlessly woven in and not made to be the entirety of who Yaz was.
This was a win for me and I’m excited to read about the other Hailey siblings.
Yasmeen wants a fresh start so she moves back home, Lorenzo is trying to change his philandering ways when he stumbles with Yasmeen his best friend's little sister. It was a cute and entertaining small-town read.

I love the way shae writes. This book was so enjoyable I like the Hailey family. Yasmeen and Larenzo the attraction was there from the beginning. Each with their own pass that they're trying to move on from. I really like reading about these two coming together 😍.
This book just reminded me that there is somewhere out there for everyone. Someone to love and accept you for who you are and to motivate you to be your better self. Sexy hot romance, loved this book.
I happened upon this author by accident! I’m not disappointed, “TheBoyfriend Type” is a great read. Written greatly and very detailed 😊. Can’t wait to continue with more of Shae Sanders books
A Brothers Best Friend Love story … every little sisters dream!!!! What a cute story. Yaz and Zo- with all his drama just bc he’s fine- were the perfect love story
This was my first book by this author, I’m glad I read it. It was a good read, I love the happily ever after with just a little drama and this did deliver on that!
This was real. The characters weren't perfect and I really enjoyed the writing of that part of the story. People have flaws and it was refreshing to see imperfect people.
A very solid read. I mean Zo been around slept with a few of friends I thought she would be more upset about that. Loved Basil though. Would love a story on him.
