Believe the Make-Believe is a poetry collection written over a period of 5 years. The topics are diverse but one thing in common about these verses is an undercurrent of self-exploration through various experiences of life and being with and working with different kinds of people. A lot of times we face situations that forces us to change our perception about life, each poem sprouted through such an experience. A lot of times things make no sense at all, that’s when we are forced to believe the make-believe.
Believe the Make-Believe by Aditya Choudhary is a poetry book with brute voice, blunt expression, and honest opinions. This pretty book contains 76 poems each dealing with a different aspect - life, existence, dreams, self-exploration, love, desire, hope, and the list goes on. That was its specialty - the variety spread across the book, keeping us hooked to it.
The poems are both thought-provoking and evocative. As they touch upon several subjects, we get to have a sneak peek into the mind of our author. His experiences and observations have culminated in this collection that resonates with us at least on some level. The author has attempted to give a bold voice to his thoughts. Although I didn't find the poems free-flowing or dreamy, they were brutally honest and candid. They had a voice of authority that commands us to take note of things that are both important and ignored. Believe the Make-Believe stood apart for its straightforward expression. If there was something meant to be said, the author said it, in his own way, without sounding a bit apologetic. We need that honesty. We do.
Not just the writing was different, the structure and presentation of poems were unique too. Barring a handful, all the poems were long, some extended beyond a page or two. That portrays that the author had much to say and the book turned out to be the means to deliver it fully. There is a tinge of melancholy, blunt veracity of facts, and an endeavor to make us confront the truth, the raw and naked truth.
There is too much going inside the book. And if you are patient enough to hold on to its content, this 126-page book will not disappoint you really.
“Life is a sculpture, The sculpture might have a shining face and herculean body, But the sculptures as a rule are deaf, mute and blind.”
This is the kind of poetry that makes me shudder with its honesty, it is the kind that makes me validate my cynical views on the dreariness of life. As much as I want not to completely agree to what the poems convey, the blatant audacity and its omnipresence is such that I have to surrender to them at the end of the day.
Aditya Choudhary through his poetry collection “Believe the make-believe” shoots at the sugarcoated, too-good-to-be-true notion of life; and fearlessly talks about the broken promises, shattered dreams and the massive pain attached to it. His views are sceptical and transparent, and he doesn’t attempt to hide the murky lanes and dark alleys of our cycle of life, that he chooses to write upon.
The poet’s pain and heartbrokenness get portrayed via a strange combination of verses, raw emotions and conclusions. His agony at the hypocrisy of fate, his reluctance to believe the apparent goodness of human intentions, his anger at the futility of the tiny little life he harps upon—all of this sees a very prominent and vivid expression. Themes like warmongering, inner turmoil, double standards in people, appearance vs. reality lingers in between the lines, reminding the readers again and again that life with its battles and heartbreaks, is indeed a tough ordeal to endure.
The disparity in between what is told and what actually is, the stark difference between what we believe and what we are made to believe—is, in my opinion, the central idea that the book revolves around. The underlying message perhaps is a fierce cry rising from the core of the heart; the heart that is made to withstand aeons of torture, the heart that makes us realize the subtleties of our futile existence. With the hubbub of incidents and conflicts popping around us one after another, it is very easy to be trapped in a delusion. It is in those times that we need a violent shake that will make us visit the raw reality of the life around, and explore its aspects that are concealed yet pertinent. This book, I believe, is that dose of the harsh realism you might be looking for.
Talking about this delusional mindset and the shift between what is real and what is makeshift, it is very appropriate to note that such reveries are in reality, very desired and craved for. Often, we are so battered by the unpredictability of life, and weighed down by its hypocrisy— that all we crave for is a little bubble of self-admiration that we construct around ourselves. This barrier that we choose to shield us with, is after all mingled with fake promises and over-simplifications yet again. Thereby, staying and acting in delusion is never really, in my opinion, a very wise thing to do. It is almost always better to stay in the present, and extract hints of futuristic growth and hope from this drought of life.
“A scary tactic of the dark lord is upon us, All of us are pawns of the grand design, Moving, jumping, thumping and humping, Exactly when we get the signal. … … Sometimes the pawn wants to run away, To a special place where the wind doesn’t blow dirt with it, And not every alley necessarily smells like shit, … … Where the children danced every time it rained, … … Sometimes the pawn also wishes to live a life of a creator, Sometimes he too wants to make the pawns believe In his make-believe world and run along in it.”
Through this book, we can affirm our belief in the importance of self-exploration and realization of the war that rages within us. The poet, through his direct allegations and honest expressions, paints a picture that speaks of falsities and dualities. His book talks about things that perhaps every mortal being will be able to relate to. Each of us, at some point of time, have been made to stand at the threshold of frustration with life, overburdened and tired. These poems make us live life without hiding its misalignment with our mere intentions.
Although I agree to the backdrop the poet chooses to write about, I wish that the poems could have had some hint of fair play. It was so burdened with pessimism and scepticism, that it failed to point fingers at the simple joys in life that also exist equally. The poems, in my opinion, should have dealt with the co-existence of light and dark, winners and losers and haters and lovers a bit more than what was put to words. It that had been done, it would have enhanced its perennial message and conclude with much more hope for better times to come.

"no coffee or sex for me, I just want to go to sleep. White walls, white walls, somebody rescue me."
Believe the Make-Believe is a collection of seventy-six heartfelt, strong, intense and honest pieces. A mixture of free verses and rhymes, this book will move you. The pieces described a tale of love, heartache, sadness, loneliness and they also throw light on the things that are wrong with society.
You can almost feel the pain drip from the words the author has written. Some pieces are too long but, I love how the author has poured out all his heart and given the reader a peek into his rawest of emotions. The language is modern and hence simple to understand. I truly felt like I could sense a hint of Eminem in those rhymes when he was describing the atrocities of every day.
This is the true magic of poetry. It touches your heart, it is also like a slap to your face, it unveils the curtain and can show you realities that are the most gruesome and the most beautiful. Such intense pieces this book has, it should be read and remembered. I have so many favourite pieces from this book. Pick it up. You'll remember it forever.
I read the book mainly because I wanted to read poetry of recent times from a younger poet. I should say I was very much pleased by the poems. They were raw, bold, speaking about the reality, and simply amazing. I did not expect to be this much related to many of the poems. And many gave me memories, bitter and sweet. Definitely not for everyone. But a poetry love will definitely love it, I feel.
My favorite poem was Hope.
My favorite lines were: "Even though I am somewhere else and something else, may I never lose the will to return home." - Autopilot "An infant's mind is a strange thing. You leave them at the devil's doorstep, And they will find a parent in them." - Fear of the Dark
Without much difficulty one can find material to which one can relate, at times partially and at times it feels, as if, we're reading the reflection of our mind; only the rhythm with which those thoughts reflect, vary. Believe the Make-believe, too is one such narrative, one such reflection.
What makes it distinct in its own existence is the experiences it has collected, and, with those experiences, the emotions it has woven. Although initiated by uncertainty, they deliver a certain message.
These experiences and emotions which the author carried with himself as his uncertainty over the span of five years, resonate with the uncertainty we carry along. Thus sparking an instantaneous connection with the words. This collection of 76 poems have a lot to offer. “Do you too feel the warmth of winter twilight, the strength that the stars in the open purple sky give you, the open field in front of your eyes with tremendous possibilities that speaks volumes of inspirational stories to you, the romance in the air, the humility that you feel towards life when you see the god’s beauty which is disclosed at such an hour that only the true truth seekers can find.” . . God’s gift, Childhood, Divine, Hope and A Giant’s Dream were my few favourites from the lot.
Our collective wishes, hopes and dreams lay under the sea with Atlantis still undiscovered, still unreachable until the right kind of people find their home. 🦄🦄🦄 Believe The Make Believe is a poetry book by Aditya Choudhary. This book contains more than 70 different poetry verses written by the author over a period of five years and each poem is different in the message it wants to spread. The poems mostly talk about self discovery and the author's journey through life trying tofibd out who he is. Atlantis Dreams is definitely my favourite because it talks about how we tend to bury what we really want from life deep within us and sometimes it stays buried forever. Most of these poems are definitely unique in its own way compared to what I have read before, however a few of them didn't resonate with me but everyone has varying tastes do it's all based on personal choice. 🦄🦄🦄 Rated 8/10 Melina L.
❝ Maybe this is how the big guy planned it all along, maybe you are not the hero in this story, either ways you gotta live on you gotta stumble on and ramble on, on this rocky road it’s impossible to live with the knowledge that you lost that battle, but you still gotta keep up the ramble❞ ~ believe the make believe by Aditya Choudhary Believe the Make Believe by Aditya Choudhary address the day to day feelings and emotions of a human, in a free flowing verse and is one of the rare modern poetry books that manages to impart a positive message without being monotonous. Filled with humor, anecdotes, pop culture references and covering a diversity in topics, Choudhary very elegantly makes each of the poems stand out. I adored the undertones of abstractness in the verses and how each of the poems had a much deeper meaning. How the poet very subtly left a lot to be interpreted by the reader, impressed me quite a lot. It was as if, everytime you read the piece, you would decode something new that would leave an imprint on you! Believe the make believe can also be doubled as a Self-help book and I personally had a lot to takeaway from this one! ❝ Love would make time stay if you’re really in love with this moment, life would stop treading when you find something admirable. So stop calculating, stop perceiving, stop your malice, and just look at the bright shining light of passion, of dreams, of things and all that you hold dear to your heart.❞
It is a compilation of 76 quick poetry which can be read in one sitting. These verses have been composed over a period of time and are candid reflections of the poet that he has felt throughout his life when possibly he was creating his opinions on several things emerging around.
The passages are very diverse and occasionally sudden but then they all speak about discovering something within yourself. I could link to so many of them because sometimes I too go through those emotions of distress, difficulties, anxiety, chaos and sometimes nothing makes sense at all.
There were so many of poems that I liked and one was 'Autopilot' which says, "𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝑰 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒖𝒏 𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒐𝒑𝒊𝒍𝒐𝒕. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒖𝒑, 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒉 𝒖𝒑, 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒖𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒅 𝒖𝒑" (I think we can correlate to it these days in lockdown)
Then there were poems like Leave the kids alone, Long live the lies, Divine Torture and my special favourite was 'Hope' because I am a very hopeful person.
I overall enjoyed the poems and they have the potential to engage with the reader because I suppose everyone runs through the stage of self-discovery and crises.
I would just end with some lines I loved, "𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐞"

People are often tossed into circumstances where everything makes the slightest sense, maybe that’s when they start to believe the make-believe. Read this book to know more about this and to get astounded by the honest and unapologetic poems of this book.
This book, Believe the make-believe, is a collection of 76 poems that reverberate feelings like love, existence, pain, desolation, desire, ambition and so forth. All the poems are raw, unfiltered and candid. This book will hook you with its versatility but one thing is prevalent in all the poems and that is an implication of introspection. The poet has compellingly woven all of his experiences. I found the poems to be inspiring and rational. I utterly loved how the poet tried to maintain the poignant feeling throughout. The title, the cover, the composition of poems everything is impeccable.
Most of the poems are free verse, while a few are rhymed. The poems, containing a myriad of topics, will definitely resonate with every reader. All the poems are the product of the poet’s experiences in his life. The writing style is just, realistic and unmerciful, and I admired this fact of the book. The language and the words used are simple and smooth so that a beginner could read it easily.
My favourite poems from this anthology are ‘Ek Sawal Galib se’ wherein the poet asks compelling questions to Galib. The most relatable line from the book is "𝙈𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙄 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙧𝙪𝙣 𝙤𝙣 𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙞𝙡𝙤𝙩. 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙪𝙥, 𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙝 𝙪𝙥, 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙪𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙥". Most of our days are like this, we tend to forget living; thinking about an automated future, we are becoming robotic and that’s alarming.
Although, it seemed to me as if the writer is in deep pain and is frustrated with life. I longed to read about the positive aspects of life. I found it disappointing to read only about the bleak things in life.
Overall, I think this book is a great and important read. The poet did a commendable job here. I was pretty engrossed into the book while reading. Recommended for beginners as well.
⛱ 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦, 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘱 𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴. 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘭𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴. 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦, 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦... . ⛱ black sheep don’t stick around for too long at one place the poet says... and I invite myself in place of the sheep eating roses in a wheat field.. Because don't the odd one out do odd things? In normal settings? . This book is exactly a piece of unique legislation for the poetry nation. Not many will get it. Not many will agree with half of the poetry which reverberates. But read the title again- Believe the Make Believe by Aditya Choudhary @author_aditya . Aditya might be a novice and a home spun poet but he stands out with a hefty numbers of poetics. . In the very end there's a poem called Introduction.. Making me believe that the poet has just started. Simple, wise and poignant.....That's how the words are in this book. Poignancy is an art which the poet imbibes well. . It was again a make believe coincidence but as I sat down writing my year long dissertation which is as thick as a novel, if not for being so boring, this poetry book chimed on a certain page-℅ When I was a young boy and when I had no toys I just wanted a hug. And writing about touch deprivation and hunger of skin in this pandemic is one thing and summing up the first chapter of my dissertation through a debut poetry another. 76 poems. Making you believe. ✊

🌼My take:🌼 "Poetry is when an emotion has found its thoughts and the thought has found Words" Robert Frost
Poetry has always been my favourite to soothe my soul and calm my mind. So going through the virtual world of internet i found this book "Believe the make-Belive" by Aditya Choudhary and absolutely loved the way he compile his emotions into words. The book generally talks about the reality in metaphoric language rather than completely depending on the fantasy, that what makes the best part of the book and continues to keep the reader engaged with the Poetry throughout the book.
all the Poetries in the book are awesome but among them personally my favourite, which i like the most are...
1. An Afterthought
2. I got the Change
3. A Monsoon thought
4. I Want to Sleep Again
5. Fracturing Factual Fractal
Overall, I loved the book and I would definitely gift one to my close buddy and same I recommend to the Poetry Lovers to read this Book for must.
Believe The Make Believe by Aditya Choudhary is a book with a collection to 76 poems on diverse themes.
When you read the poems, you will feel as if you are inside someone's mind. You will feel being shot down by multiple thoughts from random directions over a short period of time. All the poems are different from each another. I found a few thoughtful and well written where as a few are haphazardly written and lose the ability to convey the underlying thought. The length of the poems range from 15-30 lines for most part and they have been sorted alphabetically. The poems are based upon the themes of - love, life, dreams, harsh truths and ground reality, loss, sadness, childhood trauma, etc. The animated cover is pretty decent and titles of the poems are simple. Certain poems written upon the idea of love, pain and our reason to live had me thinking. The central idea of the book is worth pondering over. The writing is bold, honest and empathetic.
However, I found the use of a few words repulsive and distasteful. The writing seems to be more towards the prose side. It feels like reading a couple of sentences. Due to the lack of similarity in the theme of the poems the collection gives a vibe of being slightly disorganised. The number of poems can be reduced to 40-50 because having 76 poems may lead to the reader overlooking a few. A few mistakes in sentance formation can be found while reading and some of the poems need to be edited. The book has potential but it needs a little work to it.
Poems I liked :
🌼 Atlantis Dreams 🌼 Autopilot 🌼 Been a man 🌼 Childhood 🌼 Dazed and confused 🌼 Do you still care? 🌼 God's gift 🌼 How? Tell me how? 🌼 Let it go 🌼 Love 🌼 Prisoner of fate 🌼 Sine wave 🌼 Storm 🌼 Traveling Alone 🌼 White walls
The book contains a collection of 76 poems that do not only amaze me but also I found myself mesmerized by it.
The book starts with the first poem at A Giant Dream, a poem that is truly magical to read and refreshing. After reading the second poem I am definitely sure that you will find yourself relating to the book. Similarly, the poet Aditya Choudhary has penned this 76 poems that are mind-blowing and entertaining to read.
It was difficult to choose only five poems but below are the poems that I like the most.
1. Atlantis Dream 2. Childhood 3. Drama Queen 4. Next time I see you 5. Let's make a life together.
My Take:
Believe the Make-Believe is the debut book written by Aditya Choudhary and all the poems are worth reading twice.
I like the way the poet Aditya Choudhary has written this poem with a sense of humor and in every poem, you can sense him saying things in his own words his experiences.
I love reading poems because no matter how many times you read it every time you have a different feeling, and in this book similarly, the poet has given us this poetry as a gift that not only refreshes the mind but also touches the heart. Truly inspiring poems to read.
The highlight of the book is no doubt the poems but after each poem, it creates an eagerness to read in such a level that you just want to read the second poem and the next and the next and you keep going until the book is finished.
It’s a great book that you can gift your loved ones or family members if they enjoy poetry.
Overall a fantastic Collection of poetry that will amaze you.
Believe the Make-Believe is the debut book by Aditya Choudhary. It is a collection of 76 poems, all having a vivid theme. Each verse is different from the other and depicts a different emotion. Hope, love, betrayal, childhood, eagerness, care, letting go, pain, anguish, dreams, music, desire, etc are only a few of them. Length of poems vary, some are extremely short while others are fairly medium to long.
Language and vocabularies used are simple. Most of the poems follow free style whereas a few of them have proper rhymes. Writing style is much like that of storytelling which connects instantly with the reader. For a non poetic person, the verses might be a bit tough to understand whereas for a poetic soul, it all will make a deeper sense right from the beginning. Poems like Snake Brain, Been a Man, Childhood, Rope of Hope and Venom are marvellously written.
Out of 76 poems, Been a Man and Ek Sawal Galib se are undoubtedly my favourites. While Been a man is written through a girl's perception whose father always wanted to have a boy and talks about her struggles; Ek Sawal Galib se is more of a conversation where the author raises an interesting questions to Galib.
I'm much impressed by author's way of articulating the verses. Introduction is a poem that comes much late in the poem whereas there's another special poem that describes the title aptly which comes at the end of the book. Cover looks beautiful and attractive.
Overall, the book is quite an interesting and meaningful read. It deals with topics which are much relevant in today's life.
This book is a collection of 76 poems, each reflecting unique meaning, each possessing rich poetic devices, beauty lurking inside them. ✨ First of all, the title is so unique and conveys a deep meaning- believe the fictional things! It looked strange for a poetry book title but the poems inside made me understand. ✨ Then the book cover! Though people say ‘Never judge the book by its cover’, I personally analyze the cover that would show the creativeness of the book. And just look at this book cover. Isn’t it thought provoking? And so are those beautiful poems inside. ✨ It has some deep meaning to convey that could help us change! The poem I love the most is ‘RESPECT’. The uniformity is nice, the rhyming adds beauty to the poem and most importantly the message he conveys. I enjoyed reading this book so much. ✨ It is certainly a short book but takes time as it has valuable meaning inside. The poem ‘ROPE OF HOPE’ is surely a blessing. Words… Wow… I admire the beauty of them- ✨ ‘Make my wishes in case they fly away, Take a second and stop this running tap of pain’ ✨ Medium sized poems are so good here when compared with short and long ones. The ultimate thing that make me love the book is the coincidence of the feelings or the feelings that the book provoked when I read some poems like ‘Storm’. ✨ Overall a great read for anyone who loves poetry, admires the beauty of words and thinks deep! ✨ Don’t miss this book! Also don’t forget to leave reviews after reading this wonderful work. ✨
Aditya Choudhary’s Poetry stands a class apart from all those who have read amongst the Indian authors. Most of the poetry books I have read deal with love, abuse, trauma, and depression but Aditya Choudhary‘s poems are quite different and need you to have a certain level of maturity to understand all his poems. He has beautifully woven words, reciting about everything in life you can think about and not making it sound cliche. Also, it is amazing that the author took 4 years to curate his first book, a collection of 76 poems. The cover of this book Is intriguing. (It features a dinosaur out of the window and a man watching a TV screen which flashes a dinosaur.) I also loved the length of the poems in this book; they are mostly longer than 16 lines, as the author has poured his heart out in writing the book. His poem, "Who am I" makes me think about us as humans, his lines whispering good wishes in my ears to fight against the world only asking in return to have a 2 byte of space Echoes in my ears even after I complete reading this book. Various themes, including music, war, love, manhood, self- exploration, life, and faith, make up this dense array of passionate and volatile poems. Most of his works are thought-provoking, there are poems in which there is an undertone of depression, melancholy, and sadness. Overall, I loved this book, as it was quite different from the other poetry books that I have read. This collection of amazing poetry would definitely touch your heart.
🌸Believe The Make Believe🌸 Believe the Make-Believe is a poetry collection written over a period. A lot of times we face situations that forces us to change our perception about life, each poem sprouted through such an experience. A lot of times things make no sense at all, that’s when we are forced to Believe the Make-Believe. . "Lonely weather, lonely lonely people, my heart is crying, oh god! hold me together". . . 🌸It's a very beautiful collection of poems, it has 70+ poems. We all are used to poems which are short, which has rhymes and a lot of poetic devices. But if you someone who enjoys poetry in free verse, then this book will definitely brighten your day. The best part about each poem was it forms a magical world within itself, each poem is different, it transformed me into a different moods, made me feel relatable, happier, I felt the joy and pain. This book has my heart for many reasons, when I started it I didn't knew it would totally spin me and my emotions. . . "Been A Man" touched my heart deeply. What I loved more about it was, it's so diversified, it doesn't revolve around a particular topic, but it holds so many aspects of living. Why would I lie but I don't fully liked this book or you can say I didn't understood well enough but I tried hard to understand whatever poet wanna depict and I really understood that. Every poem have some meaning to say which describes a life we dwell with everyday.
Poet weaved the poem in musing style and his poem say times about the people who have lack of courageous heart sometimes.
Thought that tells the bitter truth of society and a fake world in which we are living. The person who don't like the poems might be tough to understand whereas for poetics person it is full of rich . As you can take example of me I didn't understood it on first read so i had to read it twice to understand what the poet really wanna convey to us by his Piece.
In this book there is 76 poems all having a authentic theme that are written based on our society law mentality and what a mind of free people think sometimes. Every Verse have some secrets that can only be unveiled by those who can feel what the poem want to say. Each and every poem is different from each other and portrays a different emotions of life .
Some writes to play with words and some writes to give a new way to world. Four stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟. 💬💬💬💬💬💬💬💬 . .
" Every incident touches a bit more its own impression on the bigger canvas called life. Small as every detail may be, their size makes them look even more beautiful and an even more important part of the image. " - Believe the make believe
Author: Aditya Choudhury
● A book which holds 76 bold confessions with an undercurrent self-exploration. Aditya Choudhury's Believe the make believe is nothing but a brave read for me.
● The pain, desire, love, life dreams of the narrator is depicted well in book. A book with nothing but a collection of honest experiences of life with a mix of raw-ness is much commendable. Written in a very soft language the thoughtfulness of the author is some thing that amused me time to time, while reading. The narration of the book gives you slight chills in the spine. The straightforward way to spill the beans out loud with out being apologetic is something that i absolutely love about this book.
● However, in my personal opinion some of the poems are being dragged a bit. i would've loved the book more if it also talked about the little joys of life on day to day basis which keeps our hopes alive towards life. I would've loved it better if the fair play has been played.
● Moreover, the variety of the book is well acknowledged. The delivery is appreciable. I'll rate this book 3.9/ 5
P.s. you definitely need some patience to go on with the book. My favorite is Man's Shit.
'Believe the Make-Believe' is a collection of 76 unique poems written over a period of five years. The poems are penned down in the journey of self-exploration via experiences of life and experimenting with the same.
The author has taken the inspiration from the variety of people he crossed paths with and created it in marvellous compositions. He expresses that our perspectives change according to the circumstances and people we met.
Most of the poems are written in free verses. The author has presented various emotions like hope, love, betrayal, eagerness, music, childhood, dreams, care, letting go, desires, etc. in his poems. At some places, you will surely be able to connect yourself with these verses. There is an urge to discover something within yourself in his writings.
My favourite poetry among all were "Been A Man" (poetry which is written from the perspective of a girl whose father wanted a boy child) and "Believe the make-believe". These poems touched my heart.
The vocabulary used here is easy to understand and the cover is really attractive. The author has beautifully penned down his life experiences and sentiments. This is really a wonderful collection of new generation poetry. The book really has the potential to engage the readers.

Believe The Make-Believe by Aditya Choudhary is a poetry collection of 76 different poems on different aspects of life, written over five years. While I was reading, I felt I was sitting with the author and having a conversation. I felt that we are having a conversation on different topics and he is keeping his point of view. I was glued to the end.
As I was reading each poem and seeing the topics I wanted to know more. Topics such as dream, childhood, fear, hope, music, love, monster and so much more, just kept me going. What I liked about this book was the author spoke his heart. I could see honest, real-life experiences. I felt connected to the poems.
Out of all my most fav was Been A Man. It's a perspective of a girl, where she is born in a family who wanted a boy. How hard a girls life can be when since childhood she has been told that she was a burden. I could feel the pain.
All over, I liked all the poems. One's you start reading you can't stop as you will definitely feel that you are having a conversation with the author and the whole journey will be full of emotions ❤📚
MY TAKE🌼: • Believe the make-believe is one hell of a collection of poetry(in a good way). The title confused me a bit initially but as I proceeded with reading it, things written in their made the title crystal clear to me. I finished the book in one sitting because I found the poems super engaging. There were a lot of truth spilled, a lot of things said boldly, a lot of Grace and most importantly learning lesson-subtle but beautiful. The best thing about this book is that every poem is different; each one of them has their own Charm, Charm that will make you fall for them. I would people who truly enjoy poetry would understand this book and love it as much as I did. • • MY FAVORITE🌼: Do you still care? • Tell me if you care, hold my hand if you dare, I’ve been waiting for so long for you to come into my life, I’ve been searching through the stretches far wide, for your clue, a scent of air that bumped off your skin, an eye lash that came off with the tears you shed, or just a tiny bit of nail clipped off your hand....
The book "Believe the make believe" comprises of 76 beautiful poems in which each poem deals with different and relevant themes. It was quite a refreshing read. All the poems were different from each other and that's the main speciality of this book. Because, as a reader I was anxious to know what theme would be portrayed in the next poems. The poems in the book has dealt with different themes like love, hate, loneliness, mental illness, heartbreak, dreams, destiny, hope etc. All the poems were equally good and some poems like Drama queen, Been a man, Damned soldier, How?Tell me how?, etc were really heart touching and well written too. One poem that really made me smile was the one with the title, "Unlucky no:7", where the main character believed that the number 7 was unlucky for him. The ending of that poem was thoughtful and quite funny. I would recommend this book of poems to everyone who enjoys reading light and simple poetry.
A collection of seventy six poems - each of them a perfect blend of poignancy, lucidity and bold expressionism. Its written in a free verse format and that's actually the poetic style i truly indulge myself in.
Riveting. Real. Raw.
The collection has a varying degree of subjects it tackles - loneliness, mental health, heartache, society, self image, dreams, hope - you name it you'll get it. The titles to each of these poems are so provocative which makes you lurch and read it till the very last stanza.
There's a sense of hope along with the questions being raised, there's a mix of boldness with subtlety. The use of imagery and metaphors is apt and not unduly exaggerated.
My personal favorites were: Autopilot, Ek sawal Galib se, Baby I'm an extremist and Twilight deception etc.
All in all, a poetry collection which is perfectly saturated with value, intrigue, symbolism and hint of magic which is recommended to all you poetic dreamers.
Next time I see you I hope that I see you in a better place, next time I see you I hope there is no distance between us, I wonder if we weren’t supposed to be then why did the destiny play this cruel game with us, like bringing us face to face, I’ve seen the truth I’ve seen the face of an angel and it would probably kill me if I couldn’t be with her. . . . 💯The poem above is my favourite from this book. The author have very well written some amazing poems in this book.
📚You will get to see some cool lines which are deep and meaningful. The lines are well written. Their is not a much rhyming but it has its own melody.
🌺Each and every poem here has a some sort of meaning. It clearly looks that the author is throwing his heart out.
😎I would like to recommend this book to all the readers. There is no specific age range.
What I feel about this book is very similar to what I feel about poetry in general - some of it widens my eyes in awe and appreciation, and some of it just doesn't make sense. To review this book as a whole would mean to balance out all my reactions which makes it sound quite mediocre. Just clarifying it here, It offered me the whole range of meh to OMG. Some poems have lines that really spoke to me and some poems were completely wonderful to read. Drama Queen about internalised negative self-talk, Druggie Within Us about our attraction to pain, and One Day Off about the monotony of a 9-5 worker's life stood out for me. Overall I'd say if you love poetry and are looking for an Indian poet then try this out. If you're new to poetry then check out a few quotes to see if this is what you're looking for..

This feeling of hope, the feeling of someone's words describing how we feel is definitely magic. Usually im not too much of a poetry person because I adore stories but this one had all kinds of emotions. Feelings of desire, loneliness, hope, anger and what not. That connect. That mix of feelings is what made this one a fun read. Ofcourse I couldn't relate to all the poems but some definitely touched my heart. In times such as these where all of us are looking for somekind of a resonance, poetry provides that. A feeling of someone understanding us. A feeling that someone else is going through what we feel.
"Even though I am somewhere else and something else may i never lose the will to return home"
This quote is going to stay with me for a very long time.
This is a poetry book emphasizing on reality from different sides. Right from the start, I liked the choice of titles & the way most of the poems are written. I felt reality blended with boldness in the poems. I didn't feel like anything was exaggerated. And, I actually finished it in one sitting, because I felt myself going with its flow. The truths were discussed truthfully, the ways of the world narrated in a bold way yet you don't feel like you're left hanging on your own. Subtle hopefulness is a part of this book. I didn't agree with some of the words used because I I believe in grace. And that's okay. It was one fine read with a good writing style.
