Thornchapel #3

Harvest of Sighs

Rate this book
The genius and the sunshine girl. As children, we fought bitterly and often, bickering every chance we got.

But then we grew up.
Then we came back.

Delphine Dansey carries her heart on the outside of her body; she’s looking for love and chasing dreams. She’s spoiled and selfish, the kind of beautiful that’s made for money and fame. But somehow she’s ended up in my keeping: a pretty submissive I can’t seem to resist, a lover who obsesses and tempts me.

I thought I’d locked my heart away a long time ago, along with all my other weaknesses. But some doors won't stay closed, no matter how hard I fight to keep them shut. She unravels me, just like our friends are unraveling, just like Thornchapel itself is unraveling.

All year long, we’ve been sowing lust and jealousy and pain, heedless of the consequences. But a harvest is inevitable, and so now we must reap our sorrows.

And our sighs.

From the moment we met, we were a wickedness. A sin and a tragedy.

The Thornchapel series is crazy amazing. And let me tell you Sierra Simone has created a world I never want to leave. With each book she has me even more addicted. Harvest of Sighs was not just a tale full of angst, sex, riveting moments, mystery and intrigue, it was an EXPERIENCE. I cannot even begin to describe to you how much I adore each and every character in this series.

The heir. The dreamer. The priest. The genius. The socialite. The saint. They feel like my god damn family, I literally wanted to jump into my kindle and hug them and tell them that everything is going to be fine. Just fine *side eyes Sierra* This was definitely the most emotional book in the series, the gut punches just kept coming.

If you've never read a Sierra Simone story, you are missing out because she is a master at pulling every single emotion out of you that exists and your life will legit never be the same. In a good way. I cannot wait to see what she will do to me and these beloved characters next. *prays for my heart and soul*

Our desires are so forbidden, they shouldn’t even be shaped in words.

Sierra is a master storyteller, she can make us believe in anything. Love bordering on debauchery, passion balanced on kinky and devotion akin to Submission to a dominant
It gets pretty steamy in Thornchapel, we know from previous books that Beckett carries a torch for Poe, and Auden and St.Sebastian are tied up with Poe in their midst, playing a tug of war of egos too.
On the side is Rebecca and Delphine in a D/s relationship that traces back to the childhood banter. They can't be classified as enemies, I'd say they share sexual tension a lot.
The story that started way back when these 6 were kids visiting Thronchapel, is an evolving, thriving story still in progress.
The sins of their fathers shall be visited upon the son
I get a feeling that they will either repeat history or deviate to change the course 8f time and pay heavily for it.
Sierra is a skilled crafts woman, in her hands the story sneekily crosses borders into something that my mind categorizes as Occult....perhaps. There's an otherworldly fog surrounding the present times. In it walk the ghosts of sexual assault, mental illness and sexual invisibility. (It took me a while to grasp the concept, but you will get it as you read it)
The story is equal parts tender and rough in sentiment. Some harsh truth befall upon the friends and their unquestionable support for each other completes their circle of trust.
I don't even know how to understand, much less explain what is happening right now cause the bigger picture is still not visible to me. I'm staring at a piece at a time and my trust in Sierra is so complete, I'm living in the moment, Book by book, exploring all the complex relations she's trying to create.
Visceral and ethereal, the narration touches the dizzying heights of Passion in a crescendo of emotions.
Touch the Adonis foot, slip between the doomed lovers, the fountain and into the tunnel to the woods that lead to Thornchapel and lay down your inhibitions and triggers
4.5 stars for Lammastide

4.5 “The End is Near” Stars

The 3rd book in the series and it’s definitely filled with deep emotions and some serious erotic scenes. These 6 -Auden, Proserpina, St. Sebastian, Father Becket, Delphine and Rebecca- become more embedded and enraptured to each other. The discoveries, the historical stories, the past and the present are at times twisted and convoluted yet magical and mystical. We get more answers and more historical information in this book as to what draws all these characters to Thornchapel. There were a few times when I felt there was too much information but this author’s writing style has such a beautiful quality that is very lyrical and compelling so it never deterred from the story for me.

While this book is about the evolution of the relationship between Delphine and Rebecca, it still weighs heavily on the other characters and how the big revelation at the end of book 2 is dealt with. That revelation plays a big role in this book that brings out angst, anger, hunger, dread, and carnal desires.

The bonds between the characters are strong, passionate, possessive and heartfelt. The eroticism of the relationships are very sensual but at times the passion is ferocious and wild. The ending was filled with heartache and a chilling foreboding.......I can’t wait for the last book. I hope my heart survives!!

↑ These are the six young people this book is about. ↑

They've known each other since that summer they spent together at Auden's family's estate in England - their parents were friends.... or something.☺

Now, twelve years later we're back at that house.

And that's all I'm going to tell you about this 3rd book - well not even about the third book! That was part of my review from book #1. But I just can't tell you anything more about this! (You definitely should NOT read this review or the book if you haven't read the first two!!!!)

Well maybe I can tell you a tiny bit. We concentrate a lot on Rebecca and Delphine - which you might've guessed by looking at the cover! But our other darlings are in here a lot too. They have to - especially after that cliffy in book 2! Jeez.

After reading book #3 ... this is still a

WTF-KIND-OF-AMAZING-SH*T-HAVE-I-JUST-READ-I-NEED-MORE-ASAP series. So different than all the other books out there.

It's Beautiful. Adorable. Heartbreaking. MUCHO EROTIC. Mysterious. Queer. Kinky. Amazing. Weird. Historic. Strange. Wow. And so much more! It's basically ALL THE ADJECTIVES!!!

Grab a gallon of tea or a pitcher of the alcoholic beverage of your choice and get ready for an amazing story ...
(insert this creepy Halloween whaaahahaaaaa laugh!)

I have to say that I didn't love-love this one as much as the last two. No idea why. Maybe it's just that I'm not interested in girl on girl erotica. Or because it was way too religious again. It has a lot of stuff that I don't really like, but I love ALL the characters and the story. I loved this book too, but this time the few negatives were a bit too obvious for me. Also - there are so many ten dollar words in here. Or latin phrases. I would've loved to have a book of footnotes to go with this! ☺ Also the POVs were a bit too challenging for me. I love a book to be in the first person and this book was all over the place with its POVs.

But now I can't wait to get my hands on book 4!!! I need to know how this all will end! UGH!

I'm not saying that there WAS a huge cliffy, but there wasn't NOT a huge cliffy either. Or whatever! LOL. I NEED book 4 now!

... I'm pretty sure Netflix is already waiting 'round the corner to grab this series!!! If not, then someone has to call them!!!! ☺

Tears and angst and love and sex and heartbreak.

Ugly tears that weren't just mine, but every heartbroken character in the story.

What I loved about this book: everything. But more specifically...

Fatness
The addressing of bi erasure
Mental illness
Sexual assault (I love that it was handled with care and sensitivity to the character and that a warning was issued in the beginning)
Polyamory and queerness
All the love and kink and emotion
The world building and character development
More secrets revealed about Thornchapel and its customs/rituals

What didn't love, but didn't hate:

Some of the scenes were a little long and drawn out.
Some of the historical/religious parts were described in such a convoluted way that there was some difficulty understanding without prior knowledge.

Overall, this installment of the series left me in tears and wrung out, in the best and worst ways.

A book with an upside-down image on the cover

May 5 2020- Wow! This was so disappointing. There were certainly some great high points but there were also so many low points, which just equals out to this being pretty average.

I think the most disappointing thing was that there wasn't enough of the pagan rituals that gave this series its "magic" and made it so addictive. That "magic" has been the highlight of this entire series for me. The atmosphere of the book was completely changed from the previous 2 books.

Other things that I didn't like:
⭐Rebecca and delphine's relationship was lackluster and the sexual tension/chemistry between the two was weak. Their ship was the single thing I was looking forward to in this book and it just... let me down. I think Sierra could have done a better job with their sex scenes. I don't think she put as much effort in to writing these scenes as she did with Auden and Saint.
⭐I didn't like the direction Beckett's character went in.
⭐i didn't like that the characters were separate for nearly all of the book. They all barely came together (which goes hand in hand with not completing the rituals or anything).

What I did like:
⭐Saint! Saint! SAINT!
⭐Saint and Auden.
⭐The chemistry, conflict and sexual tension between Saint and Auden.
⭐The little bit we did get about the pagan rituals. This is where Sierra's writing shines the most. She is so skilled at creating atmosphere.
⭐The parents explanation of everything.
⭐The ending. I really liked how things were set up for the next book.

Overall it was good but not great. Mostly disappointing. HOWEVER....I will be continuing the series.

The DuMaurier of Kink doesn’t disappoint. Even though “Harvest of Sighs” left me punch drunk and reeling, I have not a single regret. It literally let me trembling, knowing I was on the brink of something fearsome and momentous. It was beautiful and brutal and lush. The kind of mean that you crave.
The story washes over you like a glittering summer day. Hot, intoxicating and perfect. Even the prose screams “summer”. The words cascade like the first bite into an overripe peach plucked right off the tree – succulent and decadent as Thornchapel drags our lovers and friends in deeper, sucking them into the Wild God’s undertow. Rebecca and Delphine, childhood not quite enemies, find their way to each other, wrapped up in the haze of unexpected attraction and affection. Their story is like cotton candy clouds, littering an achingly blue sky. Pretty and dreamy and flawless. Until it’s not. All the while the story crackles with the push and pull of the inevitability of Auden, Poe, and St. Sebastian, despite the hundred reasons it’s forbidden. The story hums along with the energy and pacing of an impending summer storm. The storm clouds are gathering over the water, whipping up the wind, as the air crackles, pungent with the scent of ozone, blowing their languid summer interlude apart. The reckless emotion was so intense at times you could literally feel it on your skin.
Like Ariadne, Sierra is weaving a tale so beguiling, entrapping her readers in this hypnotic, dangerous labyrinth of edge play and fever dreams. But now the time for dreaming is over, and the Wild God is coming to collect his due. After all, love is sacrifice.

The MM part of this series is hot as hell, but the girls have stolen the show here.
I honestly wasn't expecting to feel so drawn in for Delphine and Rebecca's love story.
My favourite so far.

I have been looking forward to this book since finishing feast of sparks last year and my oh my it was good to be back at Thornchapel. The book aims to steer the focus of the story towards Rebecca and Delphine and the exploration of their D/s relationship. That said of course we still see chapters from St Sebastian, Beckett, Auden and Prosepina too, after all their stories are interwoven with each other.

Sierra's prose as ever is astute, enigmatic and almost poetic in the way her words flow across the page. I know I am reading a Sierra book when I use the dictionary function on my kindle; however the words are never superfluous or unwarranted they make sense and don't look out of place. This is a long read, but as a lover of this world I enjoyed every second of it. I find the way Sierra describes the settings, the sights and smells, the characters emotions, their instincts and inflections make it so easy to visualise what Thornchapel is truly like, it just draws you in completely. At the Heart of Harvest of Sighs is not so much the festivals (Lammas is the celebration this time) but it really focuses on the character relationships and how they are developing, changing and drifting in so many directions.

Auden and Saint, GAH!!! These two just encapsulate the meaning of soul mates to me. Their love, longing, desire, the sacrifice and pain just emanates off the page and it is beyond stunning to read!
Beckett is a man still struggling to balance his Priestly responsibilities with his love for the reason he sins. I think we have a lot more to come from Father Beckett and I have grown to be fond of his character. Poe is probably the character that took a step back in this novel, which I was OK with because we have seen a lot of her tale thus far. Rebecca I adore, as a Domme and a person of logical/scientific mentality she always seems so black and white, closed off, lacking in emotion in many ways. Harvest of Sighs lets you see Rebecca in a new light and she really does go on a journey. Delphine, she along with Auden and Saint, really touched me as I read some of her chapters. They were very emotionally driven and gut wrenching at times. I saw her in a new way and I love her even more now, for me aspects of her story in this book really stood out!

Sierra threw in lots of little twists and turns throughout the novel when it came to plot points and character traits. That said the way this book ended blew me away, everything just changed and I don't know how to feel other than bereft and a little lost. When I say that I mean in the best way that an excellent book can leave you, that is longing for more........ Samhain has never felt so far away!

Not my usual in depth review, but I was so disappointed and just don’t want to spend any time on this. So, my overwhelming thought is:

What exactly was the purpose of this book? 🤬😤

The Negative:
- the paranormal Thornchapel story (which is one of the main aspects of the book) was pretty much missing
- Delphine and Rebecca's relationship wasn't good for either one. Being together just brought out their insecurities and they didn't deal with it
- Saint and Auden......"do brothers do this"? Ummmm.....no. It's called incest
- Poe - she was pointless except for having sex with the guys
- Beckett - turned into a sad pathetic character that was not part of the group
- No good interactions with the group. The group really wasn't together much
- the Lammas pagan ritual - a bit of a bust.
- the incest with the twins in the beginning. Was that necessary? What was the point? I thought maybe it would become important later on in the story, but nope.
- the departure of Father Hess - 😠 A proper goodbye would have been nice
- a ton of sex at the expense of the storyline moving forward

- Inner dialogue overload. O.M.G it was excessive!!!! 😴 💤 🤦‍♀️

description

On the plus side.....
- the best parts were when the characters were vulnerable (Delphine's breakdown after the photo shoot, Saint bawling with Auden, Auden's realization that his actions really hurt Sebastian to the core, Auden crying)

I'll finish the series, but it has severely gone downhill since book 1. Some of the twists have been disappointing and most of the characters have lost my interest.

As this series continues I fall more and more in love with these characters, the setting, and the story. Sierra Simone’s writing completely sucks you into this world she has created and I am living for it.

The mysteries, the suspense, the twists, the turns, the love, the steam, lies, truths, and secrets continue throughout Harvest of Sighs. While some things were revealed throughout the course of the book, so many more things came up.

Rebecca and Delphine are a couple and their Domme/submissive relationship is everything I wanted and more. The chemistry they have together is off the charts. I love their relationship. The struggles they experience, the highs and lows of their relationship. I love Becket. The priest. The man who is struggling with his feelings for Poe. You can feel his pain, his emotions, his love throughout. Of course, Auden, Poe and St. Sebastian continue to navigate through their relationship together.
I love how each of the six plays a major role in the story. They each bring something so different and each play a different role in the mystery that is Thornchapel. I love the bond and chemistry between everyone. I love seeing everyone’s lives at Thornchapel, but also seeing their lives outside of it and how everyone’s lives are so connected.

After the ending of this book and the wait for the next one I don’t know If want to be angry because of how this one ended, cry because the end is coming or be happy that all secrets will hopefully be revealed soon.

Harvest of Sighs, along with the previous books in the series are MUST READ! These should be read in order.

I DIDN'T LIKE IT!!
WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT
SO SAD

1st re-read 3.5 years later
This is my second favourite book in the series. I loooooved Delphine and Rebecca's relationship. In all honesty, I like Rebecca way more than Delphine as a character, simply because Delphine has not been properly developed in my opinion. I feel like she was presented as a pretty, superficial influencer in the beginning and then it was just hard for me to see her in a different light. I liked Rebecca way more the second time around and I think I was very strict when judging her character on 1st read. I think I just wanted more Auden and Saint hehehe
The incest thing was a persistent thorn in my side and I just wish it was never added.
Also, poor Becket. I could see where his character was going.

1st read
HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING HARVEST OF SIGHS BEFORE READING THIS REVIEW

This review is suuuper long because I have much to say. I know it’s boring to read long ass reviews, which is why I divided it in small parts so you can read the part you like and skip the rest 😊

I’m so sad it’s over! I get so engrossed in these books and the Thornchapel verse, that I feel so empty when I finish them. It’s just hard to come back to reality 😭

OK so let’s get right into it!
Harvest of Sighs was a bit of a puzzle for me. I can’t quite figure it out. That’s why I was going back and forth with 3 and 4 stars, deciding on 3 one minute and 4 the other.
Harvest of Sighs is definitely different than its predecessors. Apparently, Simone decided to lead the story to a different direction, one I admit I didn’t predict. One with less sex and kink (don’t get me wrong, it hasn't lost its sizzle, not at all) and more character development. Also, we finally see the group interacting with people outside their group and be in places other than Thornchapel, which didn’t happen in the previous books.
I understand the need to change it up, I do. And I admire Simone’s courage to step out of her comfort zone and write something other than the 6 of them having sex in Thornchapel again and again and again, because what’s the point in that?
Thing is, it didn’t always work. But when it did, it was amazing.

Rebecca and Delphine
I had my reservations about these two from the beginning. Delphine I like just enough, but Rebecca was always indifferent to me. She is just a cold person with not much going for her, personality-wise. She could be much more interesting (and that goes for Delphine too) if she was given a chance from the beginning. Putting the focus on two background characters in Book 3 of a four-book series and expect us to be on board, it's just too late. If their stories and who they are carried the same weight as Poe, Auden and SS, then yes, probably. If more glimpses of them, past or present, together or with others, were peppered in the previous two books then yes, I might have gotten on board. The little flashback they shared in this book was so well written and sweet, but just not enough and very last minute-y.
Ultimately, and after a lot of effort on my part, I couldn’t see any chemistry between them, their relationship felt forced to me. Also, the structure of the book didn’t help. Simone would give us back to back Rebecca/Delphine POV chapters, which suddenly stopped in the middle of plot development, followed by a long stretch of Poe/Auden/SS POV. By the time she got back to Rebecca/Delphine I had lost interest, and just wanted to read more Poe/Auden/SS chapters.
I don’t know how this relationship will end, but I think these two should not be together. They were miserable for the entire book, and not in a good way.

Auden and St.Sebastian
Speaking of miserable…how contradictory it is, when it works so badly for one couple and so perfectly for another.
What can I say about these two? They are such a pleasure to read. I was looking forward to their chapters throughout the whole book. Simone does her best writing when it comes to them, and their chemistry is electrifying.
The scene where SS cried in Auden’s lap ahhhhh 😱. One of my favourite parts of the book. Not only it inspired a lot of emotion, but it was also the trigger of Auden’s change which I absolutely loved. It’s the first time we see Auden doubting the decisions he’s made and the things he’s done. It’s the first time we see him actually stopping to take everything in and realising there is something wrong. I really liked that side of him, and having him of all people to have doubts and guilt, this unrelenting Thorn God, it was amazing and beautifully written by Simone.
Of course, the only person that really gets Auden is SS, that’s why he is the only one Auden confides in, no surprise there. And what followed was so intimate and primal and intense that it would either bring these two together in an unbreakable bond forever, or tear them apart. If you haven’t figured it out yet, their final scene at Thornchapel was my other favourite part of the book, from its beginning to its bitter end. I feel like at this point, Simone can never go wrong with these two, their chemistry is undeniable and effortless.

Incest
That being said, I had a hard time with them this time, I am not gonna lie.
I admittedly have not read a lot of erotica and BDSM books, so I don’t really know how "bad" things get in books of the genre, but for me personally incest is something I can't get behind, even fictional one. That’s why I didn’t like Forbidden when everyone was praising it, and I certainly didn’t like what it did to my perception of Auden and SS. I liked that SS stood his ground, even though he never stopped lusting after Auden, and put a stop to their sexual relationship. Granted, it was true to character, but a welcome surprise nevertheless, since I was sure Simone would definitely keep them together regardless.
In the end, I begrudgingly accepted what ended up happening between them because of:
1. Their very emotional and gut wrenching scene at the gala
2. The fact that they are not really brothers. I mean, I’m guessing that in book 4 it will be revealed that SS is actually Delphine’s brother and not Auden’s.
I’m hoping.
If I’m wrong, I am gonna have to re evaluate my opinion of this book 😬

Poe
Boring as ever. She is no more than a prop at this point. Can Auden and SS ditch her and go live somewhere just the two of them?
Also, the fact that Poe leaves with SS in the end and it was not shown at all! I was shocked. I mean where is Auden’s reaction of losing both of them? Nothing? How can you skip this whole thing, which basically is the heart of the books, their relationship? Very bad.

Becket
I really liked Becket in the previous two books but I didn’t like what Simone did to him in this one. Right from the start he was shown like this poor lovesick puppy who was following Poe around, something that Auden was not a fan of. In fact, I would definitely not be surprised if Auden wouldn’t hesitate to hurt him if things with him and Poe went sour. I mean, Becket announced he was practically fired and was moving away, and all Auden could muster for his great friend was something along the lines of "OK, see you".
I didn’t like how he was pushed to the side on this one, when in the previous two books all 6 of them where in things together and shared this great bond. That goes for Rebecca and Delphine as well.
The sex with Poe felt desperate, completely the opposite from their scene in the church in Feast of Sparks, which was hot hot hot.
I think he’s not going to survive book 4, unfortunately 💀

While the previous books acted as magnets bringing all 6 of them together, Harvest of Sighs definitely acted as a bomb, blowing them up into little pieces. Some survived, some not.
Bright side: we won't have to wait long for the finale since it's coming out Halloween 2020 🥳🥳

I am really in love with these characters and Sierra's writing is so captivating you can't help but reading this until 4am in the morning and then regret everything when she gives you so much pain and heartbreak in the end. I adored that we focus more on Delphine and Rebecca here, they deserved more space and introspection. My heart hurts for them both, especially for Rebecca. Each character has so much dept and they all have unique voices and experiences to bring to the table.
Poe/Auden/Saint is breaking me. I love this trio so much, they deserve an happy ending. I am sure they will and we still don't know all the story especially after that ending.
I adore the bond and relationship between the six of them, it's my favorite part, when they're all together. We unfortunately didn't see much of that here but I'm certain that the last book will give us more. I can't wait for Halloween to have the last piece of the story but I'm also not ready to say goodbye to these characters.

Me to Sierra Simone:

description

I didn't know what type of fuckery was to be expected when I started this book, but I sure as hell wasn't expected that ending. Like, Sierra Simone really waited until the last 10% of this book to pop shit off and I've never been more stressed! I honestly feel like I came out of this book having even more questions than when I started and I'm hoping the puzzle pieces start falling into place soon because I need to know if my theories are right.

Now I gotta wait until motherfuckin' Halloween to find out how this series end.

Let's hope my patience can last until then.

Something is coming … There’s a storm brewing … #sendhelp This story, and especially this installment is ridiculously anticipatory. I was on the edge of something the entire time I was reading. It is also extremely sensual and erotic. Extremely. And also, quite wordy. I could have used a bit dumbing down on a good portion of the religion/history. There were times when things felt more drawn out than they needed to be but honestly, that’s just a taste thing for me as a reader and in no way made this story any less exceptional than it was.

Attempting to review this book at this stage in the game (book 3 of 4) is practically impossible. There is nothing that I can tell you right now that won’t be a spoiler for what has happened, what is happening and/or what might happen in the future so all I can really tell you is that I am still reeling, not quite sure what I’m actually reading and very much turned on. But that’s the norm for me with any Sierra book LOL

WOW, just WOW!!! As I read each book in this series, I am more blown away. Harvest of Sighs is the continuing story of Auden, Poe, Delphine, Rebecca, Becket and St. Sebastian. I find it utterly amazing that an author can write such a story that the Thornchapel series is, centered around SIX main characters! Mad, mad props to Sierra Simone.

I truly believe that a reader should go into each of these books blind, so I am not going to give out any details.

Harest of Sighs is angsty, twisty and twisted, magical, mysterious and hot AF. A secret or two is revealed and we learn even more about these amazing characters. The ending......OMG!!!!!

Oh my friends! Harvest of Sighs just continues us on our quest and discovery, a perfect combination of mindf’ery and awe. Sierra Simone is a master crafter of words. She is a truly gifted writer. Her ability to continue to deliver shock value, sensuality, amazement, love, history and obsession with these characters is astounding. I have been hooked since book one and I will be honest, she continues to test the limits of my boundaries of comfort and I’m absolutely open-minded and okay with that. I’m enjoying this journey as a matter of fact.

I don’t want to go into much detail as I don’t want to risk anything spoilery. I will say, you MUST read these books in order. If you are up to this point, You know from book two we were left on quite the doozy of a cliffhanger. Some of our main characters( as well as many of us readers) are still struggling with this revelation. While this storyline's “big” focus surrounds Delphine and Rebecca as a couple, our other four main characters are obviously still very much a huge part of the story as well.

There is so many more revelations about the history surrounding Thornchapel and our six main characters as well as their own parents that come out in this book. Their families and how they have been connected more than our crew could have even imagined back when their history quest first began. I’m so ready for Door of Bruises because I’m ready to know what happens. So many years of history, centuries long, secrets have come out and I’m a battlefield of different emotions and feelings. I’m intrigued, and curious. I’m a little worried and uncomfortable, but I can’t seem to help but to want more anyway. I'm terrified because of the way this book ended. It wasn’t like this huge bomber of a cliffhanger but it still hit me the gut. Because who TF will bear this huge burden of responsibility? You will understand what I’m saying when you read this! I’m addicted to the way this world has drawn me in and I want to know what’s going to happen. Will history continue to repeat itself?

Friends, grab the first three books, A Lesson In Thorns, Feast of Sparks, and Harvest of Sighs. Enter this enchanting world of sin and debauchery. Learn all about the dark hedonistic rituals, murder, lies and deep family hidden secrets. Learn about how Auden, Poe, St. Sebastian, Beckett, Rebecca and Delphine crossed the boundaries of friendship into a circle of shared lovers and new experiences under dark skies in hidden gardens with magical secrets.

While there is definitely more F/F in this book than the previous and it’s not something that I’m into IRL, it’s oddly fascinating and still semi-intoxicating to read at the same time. That’s because Sierra has this way about her writing. I'm just drawn into the almost magical feeling this book invokes in me. She definitely put more sensitive topics in this book than the previous books, however she gives a disclaimer at the beginning and she handles it very tastefully and with the utmost respect to the subject matter. I definitely recommend this series for anyone looking for something different and interesting and enchantingly amazing!

My cr8zysockbookblock Ratings and Wrap up for this book!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️- Mind Boggling at it’s finest !! 🤯🤯 I am reeling, I am blown away by these amazing characters,This series is unlike anything I have ever read before and I am dying and somewhat terrified for the final installment because it could eviscerate my heart forever! Enchanting, Erotic, just Everything!!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥- Be warned. The debauchery is as always slamming in this book.
There is M/F, M/M, F/F, M/M/F so if that’s not your jam I wouldn’t recommend this book.
🌪Cliffhanger warning-There is a CLIFFHANGER. While not as major as book two. It’s definitely left me worried. This story is not resolved in this book if cliffhangers offend you, again this probably isn’t the book for you or wait until the series is complete.
Otherwise, Happy Reading my friends!!📚
🔫 Trigger Warning-This book is a Dark Sinful Romance and does speak of content and contains scenes that could be considered triggers or offensive for some. If you have concerns you can PM for more information.

Harvest of Sighs (Thornchapel #3) by Sierra Simone should come with a warning label that says that this book is highly flammable. You or your e-reader might catch fire. The third installment is equally brilliant and highly combustible as the first two books. This series is intense, complex, and wickedly forbidden. What an ending. I’m dying to read the conclusion to this series. Door of Bruises
(Thornchapel #4) will release in October. I’m hoping to recuperate from this last release. Cold shower, please.

My most anticipated read of 2020. Is it still 2020? I’ve lost track.

I feel like the Thornchapel Six are my best friends. I have an invested link in their happiness. I want sunshine and butterflies and rainbows. Orgies in libraries and in gardens and in old church ruins. Every day. Every. Single. Day.

I started Harvest of Sighs with a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye because of the bomb drop at the end of Feast. I was so hopeful that Sierra would play a blinder. In fact I think I told her she needed to sort it out or I would never speak to her again and the wicked, wicked girl told me I might like it. And God strike me down because I did like it.

I’m possibly going to hell but at least I would go with a smile on my face and I do like a roaring fire.

My heart is in Thornchapel. It devastates me and makes my heart throb. This series is bewitching. Beguiling. There isn’t any of The Six that I don’t love for so many different reasons. Delphine has become a new favourite because I learnt so much more about her in this book.

Please give me back my heart Sierra because I am ruined. I sacrifice myself. Now where is that door....

Third read done and this book still breaks me. My Saint. My Priest. My Heir. My Genius. My Delph. My Poe. I am so in love with these people. I want to wrap them in my arms and make everything ok.

Oh golly I’m still pretty much stunned and shell shocked after finishing Harvest Of Sighs. I mean what Sierra has created in this story, the characters, the knowledge, every little detail, the typical British slang (oh bleeding hell) those little touches make it incredible, I’m in awe of her!

When I head back to Thornchapel, I just know it’s going to be magical and the words will flow like a melody. The Prologue alone, wow I found it haunting and beautiful at the same time.

In Harvest or Sighs there are many povs, but we get to go through the minds of Delphine and Rebecca and their D/S relationship. I have to say Rebecca is one of my favourite female characters out of the main six, it was nice to read all about her background, how she became a Domme. She may seem strong on the outside but deep down she’s vulnerable, this love stuff is a funny old business for the straight up, confident hardworking woman we see on the outside. This book also gave me a better understanding and admiration for Delphine. In some of her chapters, gosh I felt for her. Again a lady who’s seems so strong on the outside but inside so so vulnerable. Beckett too, the lovable Priest, his particular chapters stood out to me and of course my beloved St and Arden, the forbidden love between them was heartbreaking.

“One last kiss,” he says, lifting his eyes to mine. There’s no power in them now, no arrogance. Only pure, young longing. “Please, St. Sebastian. I want . . . I want to kiss you one last time.” 😭😭

So things are starting to fall apart at Thornchapel and I really don’t know how it’s all going to finish. We learn more details about the past and what happened between the main characters parents, we get beautiful, delicious, passionate scenes between our main six characters and heartbreaking ones too. As I mentioned before, these books play out like a BBC drama, one I so desperately want to watch!

Samhain is next and gosh what’s going to happen? We find out this Halloween 😳

Harvest of Sighs is the third installment of dark romantic Thornchapel series. While reading this story, my mind kept repeating the line from Winston Churchill, "Those who fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it, and the quote from the bible regarding the Sins of the Father upon the sons to the third and fourth generations. So while Sierra Simone takes us on a depraved immoral sinful ride through Thornchapel's history we notice that human nature does do exactly as expected and repeats the sins of the father. While the relationships among the Auden, St. Sebastian, Proserpina, Father Becket, Delphine, and Rebecca all intertwined and convoluted, it also gave us insight into their parents' relationships and the their parents, and so on. The readers get a deeper insight into the working relationship and psychology between a dominant, submissive, threesome, and any other kind of kink you can think of. Looking forward to the conclusion but also dreading the end of this series.

I really liked this one. I’d go so far as to say it’s my favorite book out of the three I’ve read, and here’s why:

➣ Delphine and Rebecca’s arc was freaking awesome! I liked Rebecca from the start, but Delphine’s such a sweet, helpless, (and HOT) kitten here, I wanted to gobble her right up! 😍

➣ Auden and St. Sebastian! Ahhh, their love is an absolutely delicious angst-fest (even though Saint’s mental self-flagellation was a bit much sometimes…). And their sex scenes…! 😳🔥

➣ The plot picked up nicely, and the paranormal bits were a little scary which I liked very much. Also, we finally found out some things about their parents’ past shenanigans at Thornchapel.

➣ And lastly, the biggest plus of them all: there’s less Proserpina in this volume! 🎉

That’s the Good. Now, for the Bad:

There’s still WAY too much conventional-religion babble for me to properly enjoy the story, which pisses me TF off, because I think I’d give this series 5 stars if it weren’t for that. Luckily, I’m so invested by now that I’m able to see past it… mostly.

Still, I think it’s a shame that the author made ALL the characters more-or-less practicing catholics, and turned all those old pagan customs into some exotic curiosities. I’m not an expert in religious studies — far from it — but I think it’s unfair, and not a little offensive. As liberal and kink-friendly as this series is, it doesn’t budge an inch when it comes to this, and I have no idea why.

And that’s all I’ll say on the subject, before it evolves into some kind of treatise on the fallacies of organized religion. 😂

Despite all that, it’s still solid 4 stars from me, which should tell you how much I enjoyed the non-religious bits.

One more book left! I’m curious how SS tied up all the loose ends after this dramatic cliffie.

Oof. This was my least favorite in the Thornchapel series. Nothing happened. I didn't care for Poe's character coming into this book and now I really dislike her and the choices she made. Her behavior has become off-putting. I wish her character was reigned in a bit. Auden and Saint have my heart but they went back and forth on decisions too often. I honestly skimmed Rebecca and Delphine's chapters because of my lack of interest. One more book to go and I am honestly looking forward to how the series will end!

WOWZAA! Want a book that will make you scream at the end?! Well, it's right here! I got completely sucked into the story and the epicness that is Thornchapel that I didn't even notice I had finished the book. Addicting from beginning to end. This series is completely different. There's so much going on that you can't skim to get to the good parts. Guaranteed to miss something if you do. Simone nails another one and I can't wait to see how this all ends. So many questions that I NEED answers to. So many taboo and twisted scenes that I went back and read them just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. All the good book things!!! LOVED IT!
