Michael is an awkward university student. He is lonely, socially anxious, and has no experience talking to members of the opposite sex. Michael is introduced to Mia, who is everything he could ever want. She is energetic, exciting, passionate, and much unlike him, massively experienced. Michael's life changes as he falls madly in love with Mia, feeling the passion burn within him; it threatens to swallow him whole, but as time goes on, Michael realizes things are not what they seem to be.

Adopted from Saint Petersburg, Russia, William Becker was raised in the Appalachian Mountains. He’s been writing moody, uncomfortable fiction since he was twelve years old. First as a horror author obsessed with surrealism and allegories, he has developed into an avid proponent of unconventional narrative voices, ergodic storytelling, and experimental typography blended into an accessible package, as is the case with A MAN BORN BLIND and WHEN BAD DOGS DO GOOD THINGS.

A short dark tale depicting young love, intimate relationships and personal futures going disastrously and desperately horribly wrong.

Believable characters and a wonderfully subtle plot that starts in the everyday 'here and now,' laced with gushing innocence and unsuspecting naivety, but ends in a deeply dark and disturbing place, that pushes the reader into a bleak corner of human unhappiness consisting of a crushing anger, open sadness and heartfelt despair. Yes, definitely a case of an optimistic 'win-win' situation turning bitter and sour, and ending tragically in an all too often 'lose-lose' scenario for those concerned. Be careful!

A highly intelligent storyline that seriously changes focus for the reader, depending solely on the viewpoint of the particular protagonist found under scrutiny. Executed to perfection!

A highly enjoyable, thought-provoking, 'almost YA' tale that should not be missed. This is the first book in the trilogy and I look forward to reading the other two surreal abstractions with relish.

Rating: 4.7 dark and deceptive, but brightly glowing stars.

A soul-searing short story with hidden truths, mystery, and unexpected surprises. The witty storyteller with an intense and nerve-racking plot. You can find all the blend of emotions in a relationship with attention to detail and the right analysis. The magic of his writing is commendable.

Well narrated and Unputdownable. The author’s vivid description creates imagery in the reader’s eyes. The Plot explores the deeper truths and secrets with life-changing incidents.

The uniqueness of each chapter title deserves a special mention and the author’s high vocabulary provides a definite challenge to the reader.

I loved the perfect twist in the tale that keeps you on the edge of the seat.

MY RATING: 3.5 STARS

So – Not really sure what it was that I read here – but it was definitely interesting. The advertised Genre is Romance, and I guess in some ways that is what it is. For a novella the author really got me invested in our MC. I was majorly routing for him to get the girl – and POP his male hymen. And he did. Eventually. He just didn’t get the ending that I expected.

The story was really well written with a very interesting POV for me (as the stories I read aren’t normally from the male characters perspective only). And following Mikey’s story of falling in love with his angel gives you a nice look into college life and the craziness of meeting new people and juggling everything else.

Totally worth reading! The build up creates a really great foundation, but the sudden curved ball creates a whole new dynamic to the story. I was on the edge of my seat, constantly wanting to read more.

Wow! This was quite the dark and TWISTED romance novella. Poor Michael 😢🫠

Michael meets a beautiful girl named Mia at a college party. He is mind blown and in disbelief when she gives him her number without him asking her for it. He has low self esteem and has never been in a relationship and is still a virgin. Mia instills strong confidence within Michael once they start dating. Their relationship grows quickly and they admit they love one another after a short period of being together. Michael is elated.

However, this relationship is about to endure something extremely wicked and unexpected. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. 😳🫣

William has a writing style that immediately draws you in and has you completely hooked until the very end. This was a quick one-sitting read that packs a HUGE punch to the gut.

Highly Recommend!

This book is the ultimate depiction of loss of innocence. It’s very basis seems to be a deep dive into the vulnerability we share with others and power of trust. Becker’s command of prose is strong as ever in this novella, giving us a look at his romantic narrative side to lure us into his surreal, vivid imagination. Not only is the story itself attention holding, the ending begs the reader to consider major issues from a new point of view. New readers will see this as the perfect story to discover William’s writing and dive in instantly. Old readers will remember exactly what it is about his writing that keeps us coming back. Do yourself a favor and fall in love for the characters for a little while, you won’t be disappointed.
