Rate this book
Before disappearing on Mt. Yari, a mountain photographer put his thoughts and feelings into a single bottle of wine -- one Shizuku feels could connect him to the Fifth Apostle. Confident, he bites the bullet and takes a trip to the Matterhorn in Europe...but Issei isn't far behind him. What will the peak of this "demon mountain" reveal to the two of them?

For a supposedly smart person, Issei sure makes a lot of intensely stupid decisions.

#159-168 side quest to the 5th Apostle (the Matterhorn): the search for dead mountaineer Noboru Okazaki's Mt Yari wine & his msg to his "sister" Namikawa Sayaka

#159 a joyful oath atop a snow capped Mt Yari
Bernard Morey St Aubin was not rugged enough to be Mt Yari but somewhere beyond St Aubin lies Noboru's Mt Yari - a challenging white Burg

It gave Shizuku an insight tt the key to the mystery of the 5th Apostle lies in the minerals of those towering mountains

#161 aflight & tempted by the lure of mischief
Shizuku's in-flight wines: Spumante w/ rough bubbles, S African white plonk, spicy Garnacha Tintorera = totem pole. Issei had similar comments.

Shizuku liked this Swiss wine while on a train ride en route to the Matterhorn to search for the 5th Apostle. Minerally w/ dry, tiny bubbles & grapefruit peel aroma.

#162 the aloof guide shuts the door
Fendant & Riesling
5th Apostle: however exalted my ideas, & however exaggerated my expectations, I won't come away fr this wine disappointed =>the Matterhorn (demon mountain)

#163 a firm handshake w/ a trustworthy friend
German rieslings are like a lush black forest w/ the sight of the alps looming far away
Alsace rieslings are the most minerally
Shizuku was given this NZ Riesling in a blind tasting & the mountaineer Andy Stalden offered to be his guide if he correctly ID its country of origin. Given its lack of minerality & hence approachable drink, Shizuku correctly guessed that this riesling wasn't fr EU
Mountaineer Andy Stalden shared this 2005 Egon Muller Kabinett, a top producer of Rieslings, w/ Shizuku when he revealed he was the son of Yutaka Kanzaki.
