Title: Cross My Heart (Bonus novella in the Hearts Series Box set)
Series: Hearts #5.75
Author: L.H. Cosway
Release date: January 31, 2017
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

***This review is only for the new novella included in the box set. Cross My Heart is Liam Cross' story.

Liam Cross has always been a brother that faded into the background for me somewhat, but in this novella, we get our chance to see him in the spotlight and steal our hearts. I was so impressed with Cosway's ability to endear me to these characters in such a short time. Both Liam and Iris were richly developed and fascinating-every bit as much as what you would find in her full length novels. That's a huge accomplishment in my book. I tried to think about who I loved more between the heroine/hero and I came up blank. I loved them equally as much and enjoyed every minute spent getting to know them.

Iris was what fans of this author have come to expect. Quirky, charming, and realistic in her human frailties and flaws. She is a young woman who has aged out of the foster care system and now is forced to live on the streets. She's tough, and very much a loner, having learned that she can only depend on herself. Music and the late David Bowie are the only comfort and solace she has from her daily struggle. I loved her tenacity and spirit, she never let her misfortune make her bitter.

I was a glass half full kind of girl. I had to be, otherwise I'd be a hand me the crack pipe kind of girl.

There haven't been many people to show her kindness or care for her situation in life, so she prefers to blur into the background unseen. But Liam sees past her tough persona, and identifies with the sadness in her eyes. He knows there's a lot more to Iris than would first appear and he's just stubborn enough to uncover it. Since she works at his family's restaurant, he has plenty of opportunity to get her to open up to him.

Liam is now a police officer. After the family left their unlawful business, he turned to putting criminals away rather than being one. I didn't expect to fall for Liam as much as I did, but he was probably one of the sweetest heroes Cosway has created. He was the most wonderful strong and silent type of man. He was gentle, and patient with Iris and I think that was partly due to the fact that he really identified with the tough circumstances that were handed to her. He was also extremely sexy and determined to make her his.

“You’re the sexiest fucking thing I’ve ever seen, do you know that?”he rasped. “Liam.”His name was a soft plea on my lips.
“What is it, beautiful?”he replied, his gaze worshipful, taking all of me in.
“Kiss me,”I whispered.

This story was a very fast paced read, but left nothing lacking. There was a surprising amount of heat, a sweet and simple love story, and a little bit of bonus time spent with the entire Cross family. They've come a long way and fought hard to make it out of the corner they were backed into. I loved seeing all of them enjoying the peace that they've earned. Seeing how they took Iris into their fold and showed her the love and family she has been missing for so long was so beautiful. This is a must read for fans of the Heart Series, I highly recommend!!

I couldn't believe I'd found someone like Liam. Or was it him who found me? Maybe we'd found each other.

5 - "Got a problem with the law, little punk?" Stars!

Cross My Heart is another absolutely stellar addition to L. H. Cosway’s Hearts Series. Once again the author took two polar-opposite characters and bring them together flawlessly.

Liam and Iris’s story is a sweet romance, and once again a Cross, just like the rest of his brothers stole a little piece of my heart. The Cross family as a whole comes across a little ‘rough & ready’ but you see again that their hearts are in the right place, when homeless Iris is bought into the family fold, although Liam 100% does not see her in a sisterly light!

"Why are you so nice to me?"

"Because I like you. And because for some reason I desperately want to make those sad eyes of yours happy."

This novella is part of the Box-Set of the previous books in the series, and it was great to catch up with the rest of the Cross contingent through the telling of Liam and Iris’ story. I cannot wait to read Trevor’s book, Hearts on Air which is due for release in the Spring.

ARC generously provided by the author, and it was my pleasure to provide the above honest review.

I love LH Cosway's characters, she creates these complicated heartbreakingly real people that I can't help but love. I would invite any of them over for coffee and pastries anyday. This is the last book in the series and I am sad :( I bought the set to read during the quarantine/social distancing/Corvid outbreak of 2020. These characters and their stories helped keep me in a happy mood.

This is one of my top series ever and all in one bargain priced box set.

Each story stands alone and each one is a complete story, but the characters are linked, so it's a bit like returning to old friends.

Here's my review for the first in this series (and my favourite) Six of Hearts

But even if you've read the series, the Liam Cross novella is worth getting this set for on its own: Cross My Heart

Highly recommended.

OMG WHYYY does Cross My Heart (#5.75) have to be a novella, WHHHYYY? It ended too soon. This little story packed all the punch of a full novel, by L. H. Cosway. It had character development, a bit of angst and steam, and a whole lot of sexual tension.

Homeless and all alone, Iris is struggling to survive. Having been homeless for two years, she's a fighter! And even though she doesn't have much to call her own, her pride will not allow her to take handouts. Resisting help is partly due to her pride and largely to do with the distrust in people which formed as she was bounced from one foster care to another and eventually to the streets.  Her break came when Lee Cross hired her to work in his restaurant. Not only was she earning money, but the days she worked she knew she would be eating.

Liam Cross noticed Iris instantly. There was something about her that intrigued him, she was elusive and she was beautiful. After many days of watching her, Liam finally decides to find out more about the beautiful Iris. What he finds breaks his heart. He can't let it go. He can't let her go.

With this novella, Cosway proved you don't have to have 400 pages for a story to be good. And perhaps there's something to that, here there was no filler, just a deliciously good story!

Get the first four books in L.H. Cosway’s Hearts series, plus the BRAND NEW bonus novella, Cross My Heart.

Six of Hearts (book #1)
Hearts of Fire (book #2)
King of Hearts (book #3)

L.H. Cosway is an author whose stories have long made a devoted fan of me. Her writing is engrossingly heartfelt and her characters are so relatable I could easily envisage them as friends.

Having read all the novels in the Hearts series, Cross My Heart is a welcome bonus novella that tells the story of the youngest Cross brother, Liam. Like the brothers that have come before him, it’s a story captures the essence love, family and sacrifice that will leave readers wanting more.

Six of Hearts

I loved Jay and Matilda. They fit together like peanut butter and jelly! Seriously, I couldn’t picture one without the other before I was even halfway through their story. And the end result to Jay’s purpose in getting to know Matilda and her father?! Holy cow! The intricacies of Jay’s ultimate masterpiece took me by absolute surprise. Freaking brilliant!

Hearts of Fire

Jack’s dark, broken soul, combined with his tragic past and insecurities, just made me want to hug the poor guy! He did brooding hero very well. Now Lille, she was simply cute. She was this bright ray of sunshine that brought a smile to my face every time she opened her mouth, mainly because I never knew what she’d say next. Their romance was beauty in ashes. For all the wrong that happened to both of them, Jack and Lille deserved a chance at happiness.

King of Hearts

Oh boy! Oliver King perked my curiosity from the get go with his obsession over the picture of the mysterious Alexis. His alcoholism. His wandering. I figured his story would be heart wrenching-and it was-but his victories, those pulled the heart strings so unbelievably tight, I was sucked in from the start. Alexis and Oliver’s second chance romance was a beautiful challenge of love, loss, and acceptance.

Hearts of Blue

A thief and a cop make an interesting pair, but can Lee and Karla manage to pull it off? With some family drama, emotional angst, and questionable job choices, they may have a chance.

When I started reading these books, I had no idea that a box set would be out later this month, and I purchased each book individually. However, I had to write about the series as a whole and will probably get the box set just so I can read the novella included in it. It has been a long time since a series has captivated me the way this series did. I really had no expectations but had one clicked Thief of Hearts(book 5) not knowing anything. It turns out that this was actually the latest book in this series. The storyline, the writing, and the characters were so intriguing that when I finished that book, I decided to read another. Again, in no particular order, probably only because of the title, I decided to read King of Hearts ( Book 3). By the end of this book, I was totally hooked. I was trying to figure out the relationship between each book, because they can all be read as a standalone. Over the past 3-4 days, I have totally binged on this series, and as I finish the last one, and for me that was Hearts of Fire (book 2) all the pieces were in place and I am actually feeling a little withdrawal. I have been living in a wonderful world of Ms.Cosway's writing, and this world she created. Loved every minute, every story, and all I can say is that I hope the next book will be out soon! Thanks for the journey!

I have had the pleasure of reading every book in this series and I cannot recommend them highly enough. L.H. Cosway is a wonderful, masterful storyteller - each of these books bringing something new and exciting. I can always count on the fact that I'm going to be plopped right into someone else's world and I'm going to be fascinated, invested, and hopelessly in love!

Each one of these books is amazing (including the new novella!) -- if you're just starting from the beginning? You're in for a real treat!

I must give the author of this book series mad props!!!! This series was amazing. I could not put the book down.
So this book is all four in one.
The first story Six of Hearts, is about a woman named Matilda and an illusionist named Jay. Matilda works for her father in a solicitor’s office and they have a man come in seeking council for a lawsuit against a newspaper. Matilda's father doesn't want to take on the case, but instead decides that Jay can become their housemate. As the story develops many secrets come out and Matilda slowly falls for the sexy smart illusionist. Can Jay win his case and her heart.........?
The second story Hearts of Fire, is about a lonely long lost brother named Jack and a runaway named Lillie. Lillie is 21 and tired of her controlling mother. She decides that she is going to accept an offer to join a traveling circus leaving in the early hours with only a note saying goodbye. Jack works for the circus as a Fire breather. He is dark and mysterious with scars inside and out. Lillie is an artist full of light. Can Jack allow Lillie to bring light into his life? Can Lillie hide from her mother? The two are faced with many troubles and a rapist is on the loose. Will their love survive?
The third story is King of Hearts, by far my favorite. This story is about King the drunken homeless man of the traveling circus who carries the picture of his lost love. Alexis has lost someone close to her six years ago.....Lillie with her meddling finds Alexis and begs her to come and save King. King is slowly killing himself in alcohol and misery. Will Alexis show and win King over and help him recover all he has lost........
The last book Hearts of Blue is about a copper named Karla and a crook named Lee. Lee has set his sights on the beautiful red headed copper and wants to make her his. Karla tries to stay away but there is such a strong pull between them. It is like a modern day Romeo and Juliet. He is forbidden and he wants what he can't have....Will he give up everything to be with her or will she destroy her career......

These books, each one, have such an amazing story. You can tell the author put a lot of thought into creating her characters. Each one has such a deep charismatic personality that takes hold and grabs you making you want to know more of their story. Each book takes it's time telling the story. Never rushing to get the end results. The characters are developed and intriguing. The books are funny, sexy and exciting. Each story pulls you in, until you become consumed. You will not want to put the books down once you pick them up. I definitely recommend these to anyone who likes stories of love loss and heroes. Happy reading!

Before this box set I'd only read Six of Hearts so when I saw this on offer I had to buy it because I loved the first book!
The other books in this box set were no different, I loved them all! The characters are all great, many of whom have been through some very bad times but have managed to beat them one way or another. There is a lot of humour throughout the books, many HOT parts with many HOT men!
I really loved how the stories in twined with each other, having the same characters throughout each one but each story about a different couple. There is at least 1 or 2 more in this series that I definitely need to read so I can get more of these Cross brothers! I'd recommend this series so much...definitely one of my favourites!

Fantastic series very unique and intriguing!

This series by L.H. Cosway took me in from the first page to the last. I did not want it to end. Her writing is excellent and her characters that draw you into their world and keep you turning the pages to keep up with them. I love the London and European settings for the stories. Her stories have so much depth and she intertwines the books together so well. I laughed a lot and needed a tissue at times too. As her characters fell in love, I fell in love with the characters. I want them to be real people that I can continue to keep up with. Fortunately there is a spin off series! Well done!

I've already read and loved all the books in this box set, except for the new novella included, Cross My Heart. I was REALLY hoping Liam Cross would get his own story. All of his brothers were getting one so I didn't want him feeling left out. ;) Liam AND his now my favorite out of the Cross brothers. I'll have to wait and see if Trevor takes his spot or not. I have to say how much I loved how David Bowie was written into the story. It made me miss him even more.

Love, love, love

I had read/owned all the books in this series before, but I bought the box set just for Liam and Iris' novella that was included. If that doesn't illustrate my addiction to L.H. Cosway and her Hearts' characters, then I don't know what will. I love these characters. I love books set in the U.K. I love Ms. Cosway's writing. That's a lot of loves, I know, but I can't recommend her work enough!

Love this series!

I absolutely love LH Cosway's books and writing style. She is amazing at character development and pulling you into her creative worlds that she designs for each of them. No two books are ever the same. Books one and three are by far my favorite, but the other books are all enjoyable. Thank you Penny Reid for indirectly introducing me to this author. Her books make me laugh...get choked up...and more than anything FEEL.

Intriguing

A superb series. Each book is full of rich characters. The story line in each book is more unique than the last. Each book can be read separately but don’t. The story builds and the characters interact in each other’s lives which adds a pleasure to the story.
I love the cast and loved when they showed up again.

Absolutely adored Hearts of Fire and Hearts of Blue. King of Hearts maybe wasn't what I had hoped for the King backstory, but at least it all worked out in the end. Enjoyed Liam & Iris's start too. Thief of Hearts on deck...
