As the daughter of a surgeon and a lawyer, Skye Baker grew up with the world at her feet. Her solid foundation pushed her to make something of herself, leading to her enlisting in the military. Now back in the States just shy of her 29th birthday, she and her best friend embark on a girl’s trip to Dubai, finding a lot more than they anticipated.
Kareema wants to have fun, and running into Trenell turns out to be all that she was looking for and then some. She brushes their tryst off as a once in a lifetime encounter, unaware that her vacation fling may turn out to be more than she can handle. After being abandoned at an early age,
Malakai and his best friend Trenell meet and become instant brothers. While wreaking havoc in the streets, they happened upon a kingpin who took the two troublemakers under his wing. Under his guidance, Malakai and Trenell grow up to be notorious in the streets, carrying on the legacy of the man that gave them purpose.
After a successful business venture, a celebratory trip leads Malakai to the feisty but beautiful Skye, an encounter that leaves him both intrigued and annoyed with the sharp-tongued vixen. He vows to steer clear of her, but Trenell and Kareema's connection makes the task harder than Malakai anticipated.
When fate intervenes, the four realize that they're more connected than they thought. Lives are changed forever, and only time will tell who will be left standing when the smoke clears

Part 1 was the bomb, I was into the plot from page 1 and experienced so many feelings and emotions. I love how all of the women were independent instead of damsels in distress. Skye and Kareema have a dope friendship and I love their family fellowship and ties. Malakai and Tre know what they found in these women and I’m interested and seeing how things play out!

Wowww. Amazing read. I love all the characters. I loved the bond Skye had with her brother because it reminded me of the bond I have with mine. I’m glad Malakai is getting his ish together to be the man that she needs because I don’t trust Cameron, something about him just screams “sneaky” to me. Kareema better get herself together before she loses her man.

This was My first read by this author and I loved Skye and Malakai dynamic through the book. It wasnt typical to where the main characters fall in love with each other right away or even like each other. I loved how Skye stood her ground and wasn’t intimated by Malakai. The book def ended on a cliffhanger and I really wasn’t expecting it. Excited to see where book 2 is going to play out.

I’m not sure where to start with this one!! The ending, maybe?? I had a gut feeling something was going to happen but I DID NOT see that ending.. I have a couple thoughts on who and why but I will wait for part two to see if I am correct. This was a very easy to read book that I completed very quickly. It was super fast paced with just the right amount of drama. Also, the men were everything, like, Malakai is such a boss. I have no doubt he will get the answers and protect Skye. Now, Skye and Kareema’s sisterhood was unmatched—when one was going through the other was there to lift her up and I loved that. The author did a great job setting the scene and foundation for part two. My heart breaks for Skye; I can’t even imagine.. 🥺very good read that kept me wanting more!

Great Book, but one thing...

This is a great book, especially for it be your first. There are seasoned writers that don't write as well. Just one thing: I didn't particularly like the use of the n-word by non-Black people. It doesn't matter to me where or how someone grew up, if they're not Black then it's not okay. It could alienate some readers and it's not not an integral part of the story that it needs to be said by non-Black people. Just food for thought. Other than that great job and I'm excited to read more of your stories.

Ok

Malakai, Skye, Kareema and Tre met in Dubai where sparks happened with one couple and insults happened with another couple. Kareema would’ve to be my least favorite character while the others were smooth to read about. Some very repetitive and miscommunication in chapters the author didn’t pay attention to that was misleading. I honestly didn’t feel like the book didn’t get good until 80% like nothing really happened that made me want more until the end. I still would recommend and read part 2.

You did that!

Ok. So I’m in love with two dudes. Call me a book thot! LMBO! Truthfully, although it took Malakai a minute to get it together, I admire the fact that he wanted to come correct before stepping to Skye completely. I truly give him the utmost respect for that. It was obvious the attraction wasn’t going anywhere, although I almost fell in love with Cameron myself. But lust doesn’t equate to love. In the end, the heart wants what the heart wants.

My Goodness

The story was in a small way, the story I expected. Yes. A gritty, sassy tale about women empowered and self assured. The two leading ladies in this story encompassed those attributes full on with each page turned. The men were arrogant, pitchy, and very charming once all the gruff and entitled behavior slowly whisked away. I'll see how this pans out in the second part!

I wanted to like this book so bad

Editing:
First- “Seasoning up some steaks, I tossed them on the grill and threw some potatoes in the oven.”
Second- “Sitting the folder on the counter, I went to the fridge to pull out my steaks, and prepared to put them on the indoor grill.”

Unbelievable:
Tech guy?
All of a sudden they run in the same circle?
He been working with her daddy for YEARS and they’ve never ran into each other?

I’ll pass DNF @ 24%

Pulled me in

Their chemistry was undeniable. This book pulled me in from page one. I went throw love hate relationship with Malakai. He was doing the most. When she did what she did I was blown away and my feelings were so hurt. I totally didn't see that coming. Bring on part 2. Incredible job

I didn't enjoy it.

The characters were basic af. Like literally all they did was go shopping and take showers. How many times do I need to know that the characters washed their ass? It was ridiculous. Then a lot of time was spent on what designer the characters wearing. It literally contributed nothing to the story.

Where is the Rest ????Must Read!

The chemistry between these characters literally jumps from the pages. Get ready to choose sides and then switch up! The author does a great job in getting you invested in each character. Grab some tissues though !!
