Scent of Danger
The opposite of love is not hate. There are lots of sparks between Cam and Emily, it’s just that most of them aren’t the ‘good’ kind. Charming rogue that Cam is, his is one of the stories I’ve most been looking forward to reading. And Emily has been hiding along the fringes of the previous books, so it was interesting to get to see her step into the spotlight. I enjoyed seeing a little more of what Cam was hiding behind his jokes and teasing. I would have liked to see even more of his serious side. I also would have preferred to see Emily find her own strength earlier in the story, but at least she has it by the eleventh hour when it’s most needed. I liked that this book shows them learning to value and trust one another as well as trusting in their family connections. For me, the best parts of the series are still all about the way these families interact together. There’s just something so heartwarming about seeing them when they’re “at home”.
Vision of Danger
I have been sadly missing out if the rest of the series is as fun and funny as this book was. Romantic suspense has always been one of my favorite reads. This book adds a hint of the pageantry of the era and a touch of the paranormal to bring out a story that I found completely addictive. We get the added bonus of a wounded war hero in the form of Wolf. Military men are my weakness and Wolf is a prime example of the breed: protective and honorable but stoic to a fault. Rose is a spitfire. Fully independent and determined to handle everything for herself. Unfortunately, she had too little regard for her own safety – that drove me just a crazy as it did Wolf. I absolutely adored the Raven and Sinclair families. Watching them all interact with one another was a true highlight for me. I can’t wait to see what’s next for these families. In the meantime, I have a few books to go back and catch up on.
Tempting Danger
I’m still running behind the curve, as I’ve only read one other book in this series. I know I’ve been missing out because now I can safely say this one was just as funny and as much silly fun as the one before it was. I’m completely enamored of this blend of suspense, comedy, romance, and the paranormal. (It’s fast becoming my new favorite genre mash-up.) I loved watching Nicholas and Alice as they felt their way around all of their crazy emotions, crazy abilities, and crazy families, to not only find their way to one another but also solve the mystery plaguing their retainers. I can’t wait until I get the chance to get up close and personal with the extended Raven and Sinclair families again.
