Can a second chance with a first love lead to happily ever after?
She should have known better…
…because rebound marriages never work.
Will Mara be able to get her life back on track?
She thought she was finally healing. Having a big family to help her through the aftermath was wonderful, until she saw him. How could her great-grandmother have done this to her?
It was a special weekend.
Why would she invite Axl?
Grandma Gigi turns 100 years old and is renewing her wedding vows. Mara wanted nothing but to celebrate the happy occasion, the last thing she needed was to see Axl and have those old feelings return.
But she wasn’t hot with rage.
It was something else and Mara knew it meant trouble.
You’ll love this steamy, emotional, and heartfelt second chance short story.
Life is messy and painful, and my stories reflect that. They’re about people with baggage and pasts that are hard to conquer. It’s not pretty, and they’ll fall along the way. And more crap happens while they’re trying get up. Just like life.
My stories aren’t sweet and nice, but there are moments of sweetness, tenderness, and laughter. Most of my characters are genuinely nice and always try to be a better and never give up or give into the darkness.

Axl does not wish to be at this party, there is a very large possibility that he will see his ex Maya tonight after two years. He is still hurting from when she decided to end things after he said he wasn't ready for marriage, heck he still loves her so much it hurts. Then suddenly, there she is, dressed in red looking amazing.
Maya is back in New York to celebrate her great-great-grandmother's 100 birthday and vow renewal. It's nice to be surrounded by her family once again, especially as her divorce to Carlos came through the day before. Ending their marriage and hoping to put the lies and deception behind her. Then she spots Axl across the room, just as he heads out to leave.
Can they truly move past the last two years apart, can they forgive each other for misunderstandings and miscommunication? Are they truly meant to be together?
Great set up for a series with the well written characters I expect from Jessica Marlowe. The tension between MCs is easy to feel and identify with. The meddling grandmother is a hoot. The hero and heroine who have found themselves in an odd stand off have a sweet, hot, sexy reunion that is anything but simple or solved at the end of the book. Looking forward to the next installment!
