2023 Update: I'm slowly going back through and rereading the first few books of the series so that I can continue on. I'm hoping to get these books as well as the "In the Heart of a Valentine" books read this year as well. My thoughts didn't really change much and I still think it's a solid start to the series.

I've been slowly making my way through Stephanie Nicole Norris' bibliography. I decided to start the Falling for a Rose series after I realized how connected it was to the In the Heart of a Valentine series. It was a solid read and good start to the series. 3.5 Stars

Safe With Me highlights the relationship between Samiyah and Jonas who originally start off as FWB. While Samiyah is coming off of a broken marriage, Jonas struggles with trusting women as they seem to only want him for his money and fame. The two quickly realize that they are unable to keep their relationship strictly sexual and they find that they want more. Norris does some interesting things with the plot especially as it relates to Jonas' past; however, I struggled a little bit with some decisions that Jonas makes in reference to another character. Honestly, they were mistakes that I can see a lot of people making; however, I feel like it made him too naïve of a couple of characters and then it forced Samiyah to forgive him too quickly. Readers should be aware that Samiyah does go back and forth quite a bit in this story. I could understand why she struggled so much; however, it may frustrate other readers. The chemistry was on point and the sex scenes were bomb. As I stated before, this was a solid start to the series and I'll definitely be continuing my read.

Safe with Me was a good book but, it was pretty much a replica of the Valentine Brothers series. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed getting to know the Rose men but, they were very reminiscent of the Valentine men. With that being said, I loved the instant chemistry between Samiyah and Jonas. I’m always giving relationships that move that quickly the side eye but, when I thought about it, David had already checked out of their marriage a year or so prior to their divorce. So, in all actuality, their relationship didn’t really move that fast. And, whew chile, Martha Jean was a mess! Ms. Martha is the kind of mama that’ll have you constantly calling on every spiritual being to stop you from cussing out your mama. Samiya was constantly running hot and cold but, BFF Claudia was always there to check her as a good girlfriend should. There were a few inconsistencies that didn’t make sense. I could’ve sworn Samiya was described as being dark skinned but, there’s a light skin chick on the cover?!!! That whole fallout with Amanda just didn’t make sense. How could Jonas see that Stacey was overtly flirting with him but, he was completely oblivious to Amanda flirtations?!!! That scene that played out with Jonas and Amanda in his office had me giving him all kinds of side eye. 😒😒😒 Like, really dude?!!! The author didn’t really explain the relationship between Jonas and Kevin. She never went into any details on their history which, left me with some questions. I felt like the author could have done a better job explaining the connection between Jonas the villain of the book. Aside from these minor inconsistencies, Safe with me was a good read and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I legit don’t know what to say 😭 that book sucked so bad. It has over 4 stars on Goodreads so I thought it would be so good?? It was just porn with no plot except in the last chapter. They had trauma and they had sex and that was it!! I also felt like this story was weirdly written. It felt like when you were learning how to write essays in elementary school and your teachers wanted you to go into a large amount of detail. That’s what this book felt like, so many random details that did not matter and didn’t even add to the story or the setting or anything!! Like why did we need to know about the brand of e-cigarettes her mom used or that the current perfume she was wearing was a vanilla bath and body works product? It felt like she wrote a story and then realized she was under the word requirement and so she went back through and added useless details. I hated her mom so so so much, she sucked major booty as a character and did the love interest’s assistant. Literally why was he flirting with her constantly in front of the main girl 😭 he was like “oh she’s so irreplaceable” then bitch just date her or whatever, stop being weird. This book was weird and it just wasn’t for me. If you enjoyed it, I’m glad but it just wasn’t for me. 😭 2/10 I’m so sorry

"Safe With Me" by Stephanie Nicole Norris

My Thoughts....

I truly loved the romance of it all in this novel. This author did a wonderful job that featured Jonas and Samiyah in their budding romance. We find Samiyah newly divorced and meets Jonas who was a retired celebrity boxer. It seems like there were feelings for each other right from the start and one thing...well lead to quite a interesting romance. I don't want to say to much other than I really thought the author brought to the readers a real read that left nothing to wonder about. NO CLIFFHANGERS! I loved it and look forward to reading the next novel...Enough which features
Claudia Stevens and another Rose brother...Jaden.

Jakobi & Wesleigh together is chefs kiss. I think they did a good job bringing this story to life. It was pretty good, I liked the characters but after a while I was a little frustrated with Samiyah- clearly Jonas was nothing like her ex-husband. But, she spent so much time feeling like she wasn’t worthy. Sigh. Jonas is everything. I liked how quickly things moved with them as a couple. Honestly, I could have did without the kidnapping twist, it didn’t really make sense.

Looking forward to listening to the rest of this series.

I had to stop reading...

The timeline in this book was out of whack. First there would be weeks until the gala then it was the next night back to two weeks later. Jonas’ mother died at 35 yo but she was with the father for 30 years. I think the author did a good job for an instant love story but get the timeline together!!!!

What I loved most about this story was that Samiyah was a confident, successful woman. She didn’t display typical insecurities. Despite how her marriage ended she knew her worth and she demanded nothing less from Jonas and her wack @$$ ex husband. I’m ready to read about the other brothers.

The story kept me engaged especially as Jonas courted Samiyah. There was a shocker in the ending that I really didn't see coming, but that bit of drama didn't seem too plausible to me.

I would have given this book a 4 overall but I couldn't get over the author's utilization of the characters' names. It's like she would use them overly on each page vs. using a pronoun instead. It was just too much; on any given page, I could see the lead's name about five times and sometimes back to back. There were also some inconsistencies with the dates with Samiyah's parents and Jonas' parents' as well that didn't add up to the book's timeline. All in all it was just an okay read for me.

Why did it take me so long?

Why did it take me so long to read works from this author? Anyway I am glad I gained some sense and did. I loved the launch of this series. The chemistry between Jonas and Samiyah was explosive and their journey into love was beautiful to behold. Kevin was dirty and Amanda was thirsty. Loved how Jonas handled both of them. He is definitely bae. On to book 2.

This was my first book by this author and it won't be my last. There was a couple of things that Jonas did that was kind of stupid and the Samiyah forgave him right away without much groveling (you know I love a good grovel lol). There was some action and intense parts of this book as well that I didn't expect but I loved!!!

4.5 Sexy Stars!!

Holy Smokes!! 😍🔥🔥What a story!! Samiyah and Jonas were one hot couple! Saying that the chemistry between them was off-the-charts should be an understatement! When you have an undeniable connection the way these two did, happily ever after was inevitable. I loved this story from the beginning to the very last page, and I just really wish it didn't have to end.😔 I wanted more of any kind of juicy tidbits of their future (aside from the wedding stuff) and maybe a snippet or clue about Samiyah's friend Claudia in the epilogue. Yep! I'm just that greedy!😂

Jonas was one smooth brotha! He was everything we wanted in a hero. Smart. Sexy. Charming. Compassionate. Strong. Kind. Alpha. He was definitely not afraid to show a woman what he felt. No wonder they practically fell at his feet! 🙄😏

After what Samiyah's ex-husband did to her, she definitely needed a boost in the confidence department, and Jonas was all too willing to lend a helping hand😏:

"Jonas lifted Samiyah's chin. 'He's a clown. Don't ever feel like you weren't enough. A real man knows when he's in the presence of a jewel, and the right man will love you unconditionally with no strings attached.' " **Whew!**🥰

These two heated up the pages so much, I was afraid my kindle would catch fire!

"How did you know I was drinking Pinot Grigio?"

"Because I watch your lips move every chance I get..."

Have mercy! I don't even remember the rest of that sentence because I almost fell in--yes, I said IN--my kindle!😂😍🔥🔥

What I also loved about this story was the vulnerability of both Samiyah and Jonas. With Samiyah, it was deep-rooted in the failure of her parents' marriage, as well as her own. With Jonas, it involved the remnant of feelings left after the tragic loss of his mother. Both of these things were handled masterfully by the author.

I have to be honest about this. The proofreading and/or editing issues are very noticeable. I have read quite a few of them, so I don't say this lightly. But I absolutely love Ms. Norris's stories, and her style of story-telling is always passionate, sexy, and so romantic.

This was an ok read. Samiyah and Jonas had this instant attraction. I could accept that.

She gets drunk, gives a strange man her car keys, let's him drive her car, goes back to his place, passes out, and wakes up in his bed the next morning. Here comes the part I can't accept. Samiyah gets upset and runs because Jonas calls her by her married name. Really?

I did like Jonas. He seemed pretty straight up. The jury is still out on Samiyah. She seemed to run hot and cold for a while. I liked her girl Claudia. Didn't care much for Samiyah's mother either.

Jonas was blind to both Amanda and Kevin's characters. After the benefit, what happened was an interesting twist, but not an unexpected twist.

Some of the scene transitions were confusing. It seemed like I would be in one scene, and the next scene would be something completely different leaving me wondering if I had missed something. I would re-read to see if I overlooked something. That took me out of the flow of the story a couple of times.

The other thing that threw me off were the flowery descriptions of sex. Such as "She opened her legs inviting him to her love boat where she hid rocky waves and angry seas." What? That was just strange.

In spite of the things I listed, it was not a bad book. It was entertaining enough that I want to read Jaden and Claudia's book.

Now, I wanted trash romance, but this? This was beyond even that. I couldn't make it past chapter 3. I personally need either entertaining characters or an entertaining plot to enjoy a story (doesn't everyone? apparently not). A standard romance is going to be character-heavy and plot-light. This is light on both. It just jumps right in to a bunch of nonsense, with the assumption that the reader will go along with it bc "it's a romance novel, you know what you're here for." Yes, I'm here for competent writing. Not Pulitzer Prize worthy writing, just basic competence.

When I got to some rando calling the male lead talking about, "I've got 3 guys willing to put up $50M a piece to fight you," I was done.

I cannot be bothered with an author who can't be bothered to take the 5 minutes for a preliminary google search regarding the logistics of the world surrounding her story. FIGHTERS don't front tens of MILLIONS of dollars for fights they're participating in--at most they'll bet on themselves if the story's that cliche or they need the money that badly for plot reasons. That's not how the profit system works for such an event.

So, like... we're just putting down ANYTHING on the page. "Fiddy meeyun? Yeah, shounds gud." GTFOH.

I was really digging this book. Two things threw me off and prevented me from giving a higher rating.
1. The point at which samiyah confesses her love for Jonas just didn’t flow with the things that happened just before
2. The whole fight scene just seemed out of place.

Over all I enjoyed watching Jonas fall hard. Loved the end in PR. Thought it was a nice touch and tribute.

On to book two

Great start to the Rose Family Series.

Samiya Manhattan was signing her divorce papers from her husband of 6 years. They have been separated since finding out he was cheating on her with another woman who stated she was his fiance. Once it was final, she went out drinking and swore she would never marry again, after drinking her sorrow an unwanted solicitor thought it was a good idea to approach her and try to force himself on her, a rescue from a complete stranger got Samiya out of a sticky situation but may have landed her into the fire.

Jonas Alexander Rose, the oldest of his sibling, a retired heavyweight champion boxer and now successful business owner, is not looking for love. He is a protector by nature so when he sees Samiya in trouble, he goes into action. Jonas thinks she incredibly beautiful, yes he is attracted to her and when she suggests they go to his home, he needs to make sure this is what she wants and once she confirms they are off, only for Samiya to fall asleep because she is drunk. Jonas knows something has happened to her that hurt her deeply and he doesn't want to ever hurt her. Samiya has gotten under his skin and he doesn't want to shake her out of his system.

Samiya fights with everything within her to keep from being attracted to Jonas but soon discovers that it won't be so easy to get rid of him and truth be told she doesn't want him to ever leave her. Samiya's fear of being cheated on plus her mom going on and on about men not being any good may cause her to lose out on God's gift for her. Samiya will find out that she really is safe with Jonas Rose.

This was a really great story with a few twists and turns. I love how Jonas truly wanted to be with Samiya, there were no games from him, he was a man on a mission and it was Samiya Manhattan. Their chemistry was electric and the sex was complete fire!!

I will soon read book 2 "Enough (Falling For A Rose Book 2)" which is Samiya's best friend Claudia Stevens and Jonas brother Jaden Alexander Rose story.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao Bellas!

dont let the rating fool you but let me say

I did very much enjoy meeting the Rose family. (This is after I have met the Valentine family.) Anyway I digress. Samiyah desreved so much more than the man that left her brused but not broken. Sexy ex-boxer Jonas Alexnader Rose found a way to mend that heart of hers and give her so much more to look forward to.

This one was not an insta love. That was praise in its favor. This one was more. You got the one night. The more than one night. The vacation. The intamacy. The selfish office staff. The spoiled antics of one woman. The love of a real woman. The tenderness. The joy of finding that life was not over.

The things that I could have done without was the ill times words eith misplaced or repeated. The mix-up in some words that should have been something eles. The feel that maybe enough time was not paid to proof reading. Oh yeah, and a few inconsitencies with time frames.

“To everyone who still believes in love.”

3.5 ⭐️ Jonas Rose, the eldest brother of the Rose Clan came to REPRESENT, mmmmmhmmmm! The minute this man laid eyes on Samiyah he didn’t let up off of her for one SECOND! The things he did to pursue her 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾!

Now, Samiyah did wear me lowwwwww during certain parts of the story. However, I do understand the things she battled with after divorcing her husband of 6 years.

Either way, I enjoy this story & wanna see what the rest of the brothers have in store.

I love Jonas and Samiyah! It was love at first site (well for him at least). Stephanie Nicole Norris did a great job developing their character and their chemistry and I was just rooting for them from the start! The story has love, heartache, drama and even a little suspense...all the feels! Narration was amazing with my favorite couple Wesleigh Siobhan and Jakobi Diem. These two are always amazing and never let me down! Can't wait to start on book 2! This is highly recommended!

*3.5 STARS*

I liked this story. I liked reading about this family. I liked the growing relationship between Jonas and Samiyah. I thought their relationship was quick considering that Samiyah had just gotten divorced but she definitely deserved her happily ever after.

There were a few reasons I couldn't give this story higher stars.
First, the author screwed up timelines. She said that Samiyah's parents divorced when she was 4 (page 108), but then said later that Samiyah's parents had only been divorced for 9 years (page 179). That was a huge misstep. One that should have been found in editing. And when people are interested in your story, they are going to pick up on those things.

Next, the author's voice was just off. It was like she used the thesaurus on every other word. Sometimes you don't need the fanciest word to describe something, especially during sex scenes. Just call a cock hard and pussy wet. We don't need the SAT words. Sometimes it just really took me out of the story because I was trying to figure out why the heck the author used a certain word to describe something pretty ordinary. It was just like she was trying too hard.

And I say all this to say, that I really liked the story. I did. I don't get a chance to read stories where both the hero and the heroine are black and they are doing well and aren't some stereotype. I'm going to read more stories in this series because I'd like to see more of the brothers, But, I hope that the author's writing develops a bit more over time. Because I think she would be unstoppable!

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. I do look forward to continuing this series.

This book was much better than the first book in the Valentine series. I did love the love story of Samiyah Manhattan and Jonas Alexander Rose. Samiyah of course has been in a relationship and her ex was a cheater. Then her mother, Martha Jean was one of them all men are the devil and can't be trusted types. She got on my nerves.

There were a few plot holes. Jonas had this dangerous "situation" with a man named Kevin and we never got any back story. That made no sense.

Then how in the world did Jonas not see that Amanda was in love with him? He was a wealthy man but dense.

This Rose Clan does intrigue me so I will continue to see how the rest of the series unfolds.

Semiyah and Jonas - good read and good introduction to a new series. I liked Jonas. He was good about showing how much he cared for her right from the beginning. I also liked the heroine. She was smart and confident.

Steamy and funny at times and I liked the side characters. The number of brothers is a bit excessive though but I get that’s the set up for future books. I wouldn’t re-read but will read book 2 to see if I love it.

Samiyah co-owns a small financial advising firm in Chicago. Her divorce has just been finalized and she is drowning her emotions at a bar. Samiyah is being harassed by another patron at the bar when she is rescued by Jonas. He is a retired heavyweight boxing champion and business mogul. There is an immediate spark of attraction between the two but Samiyah will never trust a man again and Jonas knows that women only want him for his money. The more time they spend together, the more time Jonas wants to spend with Samiyah. Can Samiyah move past her painful marriage and learn to trust Jonas? Can Jonas actually fall in love?
This is the first book that I have read from this author and I enjoyed the story. The characters are intelligent and dynamic. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep my interest.

Loved the relationship between Samiyah and Jonas and how it developed in the wake of Samiyah's divorce. The supporting characters including Samiyah's best friend Claudia (who gets her own story next) and Jonas' brothers were also fun.

My issues with this book were more along the lines of the writing flow and word choice. Also, some of the scenes seemed off to me, like Samiyah and Jonas going at it in the middle of a company function, particularly given Samiyah's job.

And I'm curious how Samiyah's company is called "S & M Advisors" when her partner's name is Claudia. *shrugs shoulders*

Was a good premise

With some more editing this book would be ok. There are points that scenes are disjointed and came out of left field. Sentences that are awkward. I also found myself skipping parts because details were over explained.

As for the characters. She was not very notable. But he was exceptional! Even I found myself falling in league with all the other women and fell a little but in love with him too! He was well done.

Just out of a 6 year marriage and convinced all men are unfaithful, Somiyah tries not to fall for Jonas, an ex-boxer billionaire and the oldest of the Rose brothers, with a tragic past.

Things I loved: I listened to this on audiobook and loved the narrators. I also really love the Rose family dynamics and seeing Somiyah with her friends.
The only aspect that didn't work so well for me, was that this story is in third person POV with a lot of head-hopping
