Only true love can free a captive heart.

Landon Jenks, retired four-time Golden Glove-winning shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, is lonely, heartbroken, and in need of simple human contact. Trapped in the sticky fine print of an ironclad contract that forbids him from revealing his very-much-single status until the season finale of his reality show airs, he calls an elite male escort service that caters to the rich and desperate.

Accustomed to servicing his often less than savory clients at more upscale locales, twenty-six-year-old Toby Carmichael is surprised when his handler sends him to a run-down motel off I-55. But “surprise” doesn’t come close to describing the shock that rocks his system when a delightful stuttering mess covered in tattoos and nearly ten years his senior stumbles into the room—and right into his heart.

For the first time since Toby was forced into the life of prostitution, a kiss sparks a desire that has nothing to do with money and everything to do with genuine chemistry and the faintest beginnings of something so much more. But Toby’s dark past and troubled present make it impossible to see a future with Landon. And when the truth comes to light, a horrified and helpless Landon is determined to save Toby at all costs.

This is only my second Drae book but I've easily slipped into an Evie groove. They have such an incredibly clear and bright voice it seems to shine straight through the pages like sunbeams. Some may find the lengthy content warnings excessive or complain about the constant consent reassurances...but that person isn't me. Despite whatever scene is unraveling or the sliver of history that's being unveiled, I felt comforted. I believe that is simply from the abundance of kindness radiating from Drae. I gravitate towards authors that make me feel good from what I know of them and what creations they deliver. An author once called one of my reviews despicable and no matter how much glitter there is in the world, I have no desire to read his books anymore. So when I was having a rough day and Evie took the time to send me a virtual hug, it meant a lot to me. And it's not just me, check out their twitter feed! Drae is the essence of kindhearted and extremely considerate...and it flows into the pages. Even with some of the darker elements included in this story, there's no denying the tenderness throughout. All that aside, Landon and Toby held me rapt from the beginning and left me swooning and smiling by the end. Great author, great guys, and a great story? Yes, please!

What's to like: Okay, so this is like kinky pretty wow-man with a twist. Landon needs an escape and a heavy dose of pleasure. He thought his dreams were coming true only to discover he was walking in a nightmare. Coming out of the closet slammed doors with his family and then to make matters worse he's mortified to find out his reality show relationship was a sham. Calling an escort service is completely out of character for him but he needs to forget, even if it's only for the night. But when Toby walks into the seedy motel room he's struck by a bolt of passion and a ray of hope...there's no chance Landon will ever forget this man or this night. I've read plenty of rent boy stories before but this particular case was a first for me. I think this is why consent was such a persistent occurrence. You'll see what I mean when you understand why Toby is in the situation he's in. This is one of those, you'll have to figure out firsthand details.

What's to love: Without a doubt, the heart of this tale lies with the characters. Landon and his adorable nerves not only charmed Toby but I was smitten as well. Toby and his glowing spirit quickly stole Landon's heart and a piece of mine. Bit by bit we catch pieces of both men and I was astounded by their strength and perseverance. Landon has lived a life with chains until recently. He may have been 'free' but it was purely an illusion. On the other hand, Toby's shackles are hidden in plain sight. Yet when their worlds collide, everything shifts. They both desire entanglement for the first time. Bonds tease but are forbidden to bind. Maybe someday they will be free to love one another but that day is not today. Or...is it?? They dabble with BDSM but with tenderfeet. Landon's bestie is bound to make an impression...Steffon is fabulously unforgettable! Impossible predicaments toss roadblock after roadblock. And all the while I was desperate for the rescue I knew was coming!

Beware of: First impressions, first experiences, and love at first night. Numbers, either birthdays or bank accounts, are insignificant. And a sweetness paired with ample spice that will keep your pulse racing but your heart light.

This book is for: If you're seeking a story full of hope, devotion, and love this second chance at life tale is bound to fulfill those desires...and more.

I love discovering new to me authors, and when I read the blurb to He Owns My Heart, I knew this would be my first Evie Drae book. I'm a sucker for a good escort romance. And this one sounded like a scorcher with plenty of feels.

This was beautifully written, with wonderfully complex characters. Logan was an adorably awkward pro baseball player still reeling from a recent heartbreak and a family that doesn't accept him. In a desperate decision to feel something, he hires an escort. Toby was a broken character that you just can't help but love. Still waters run deep with him, and the more layers that get pealed away, the more your heart breaks for him. As incredibly full of depth as both Toby and Logan were, their characterization wasn't always consistent in parts. This wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but did get confusing in parts.

This is very much a sweet story with a lot of sizzle. Admittedly, my rating is more about my expectations here, guys, so take it with a grain of salt. After reading the Content Warnings, I was expecting a little more grit here. I wanted more layers to their backgrounds. I didn't need the gritty details, but the warning implied there may be at least some, and yet there really wasn't. Perhaps the author didn't want to go too far into the dark details, which I full understand. However, I think given the heavy subject matter, a bit more fleshing out of these things wouldn't have hurt. Ultimately, while I did enjoy it, it did become a touch too flowery and sweet for me. I loved the first 35% and then it began to wane. The characters spent way too much time talking about their boundaries, when one solid conversation would have sufficed for this reader. it felt like the reader was constantly being reassured that everything was consensual, and it didn't feel necessary. It ultimately began to grate on me.

Would I read more in this series? Absolutely. I did enjoy this story even with the few quibbles that I had. It was definitely enough to hook me on a new to me author.

No rating because I skimmed half of the book.

Unfortunately, this didn't work for me.

I had huge questions about the plot within a couple of chapters, and that didn't change as I went along, in fact it got worse. I started skimming at 50% when things got very slow and drawn out.

The characters seem to be portrayed very black and white, with Garret, Joseph and Mayson clearly the villains who behave extra evil and are shown to 'hold all the cards'.
Considering that, the final solution to Toby's problem seems a teeny simplistic.

Landon and Toby are nice guys, but for me their personalities are full of clichees. And the BDSM dynamic thrown in felt odd and quite out of place.
All in all, this seems to be something like a cross between Pretty Woman and 50 Shades of Grey.

Sorry I didn't enjoy this more, but I'm sure many other people will!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I don't even know where to begin... the drama, the angst, the sweetness and pure love all rolled into one amazingly beautiful little package. I stayed up all night to read this book, unable to deny myself knowing what would happen next. At the risk of spoiling anything, I won't delve into the deeper bits of this book, however I will say that there is certainly something for everyone who enjoys mm romance.

Landon is a beautiful soul who deserves the love he so desperately needs. Toby is the most precious of all and my heart ached for him at every turn. Every supporting character had a purpose and none of them felt like fodder simply to pad the word count.

From the first book I've read of the author's, I've been hooked. And now I am hooked on these characters. I simply cannot wait to see more of Toby and Landon.

DNF’d because I don’t like already established romances. The writing seems very good, but I really don’t like reading about sex between the two main characters on chapter 1, I want to work for it. This is definitely a me thing and not an author thing, because I didn’t read too much of the synopsis before starting this.

Luckily, I was listening to the audiobook on Scribd and didn’t spend money on the physical book.

I stayed up all night reading this. I never should've started it, because today's gonna be one hell of a long one, but it was so worth it. So frickin worth it.

I fell hard for this author when I read her debut, so when I heard she another one coming out, I was all over that like white on rice. I begged for an ARC, and thankfully she had some spots left.

Where to begin. Woweeeee. First, this book is hot. 🔥 Like, I'm talking... hoooo buddy. It starts off smokin' from dang near page one and I mean the sexy times hit by Ch 2 kinda startin' off hot. And it doesn't feel rushed. At all. How? Because Toby is a sex worker and Landon is a client. But Landon is a reluctant client, and Toby is... well, spoilers, so I ain't going there. But UnExPeCtEd!!! Woah.

Their relationship was utter perfection. *chef's kiss* The chemistry was on point, again, from page frickin one. Landon is a complete sweetheart who has had a crap run of luck in life, family, relationships... you name it. Then he meets Toby and all he wants to do is save him. And love him. And be his oh-so-yummy submissive. /purr

Toby has also had his fair share of life challenges. His childhood and most of his college years seem pretty status quo. Normal. Loving family, friends, living a party life. The only kink in his happy existence is his baby sister, who winds up putting him in one helluva tough spot. Like, again, spoilers... but when you figure it out, you're going to burst into tears. It broke my heart from the inside out. But Toby is such a pure soul. He loves his family and respects Landon from the get go. When Landon (who, btw, is adorably awkward and fumbly and stumbly and just adorable) comes into his life, he realizes what he's been missing and starts making some maybe less than smart decisions but I'm so thankful he makes... some of them. Because they lead to Landon. Oh, and he takes on the role as Landon's Dominant and does such a natural and beautiful job that I just... *heart shatters*

I am dying for book two. I'm not sure I can wait. I might have to harass the author to beta read or something. But not because this book has a cliffhanger, because I honestly feel like it could be a standalone. It has a very nice and tidy HFN, and yet there are also so many directions book two could go that I NEED TO KNOW. Ahhh!

Read this. Just read it. It's a one-handed read with all the sweet, sexy, steamy, naughty, nice, and everything in between you could possibly need!!

I read an earlier version of He Owns My Heart and was completely swept away. This story packs such an emotional punch, and the connection between the main characters is so authentic that it's impossible not to root for them. A spellbinding, heartfelt romance with the perfect amount of angst that grabs hold and doesn't let go until the very last page.

This was the first book that I have read by Evie Drae and I was blown away! This book had me so emotionally involved it was almost painful. The characters were so incredibly fragile yet fiercely strong. The longing and desire that these characters possessed kept you hoping that their circumstances were different. There were heartbreaking moments in this story that made my heart hurt and then they were offset by scenes with such beautiful passion that I almost wept. This was truly an exceptional book. I look forward to further publications from this author. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It has been a while since I have read and MM book and this one was definitely a nice story to go back the the subgenre.

The characters were deep and insightful. Their problems were relatable and their circumstances were amazingly complicated. I could feel myself slipping into their lives and shoes easily and sharing every one of their misfortunes as well as their happiness. I would totally want to read more about this couple.

I enjoyed Landon and Toby's story. Landon is an ex-football player turned reality TV star. Toby is an escort that is being trafficked. Landon is determined to save him. This book had fantastic sex scenes and a lot of cute moments. I can't wait for the next book.

I don’t even know what to say. I am gutted and emotionally wrung out. Toby breaks your heart with his love for his family and his physical and emotional strength. While he calls himself a whore, he is so much more than that. I loved Landon, who is so spectacular in his ability to see beneath the surface and strong enough to fight for what he wants. These two men deserve their happily ever after. I cannot wait for the next book.

This was a new author to me and the rent boy falls in love trope was an uncommon for me to choose, but I looked at the reviews of their other works and got curious. The book was well written and steadily paced. I liked the MCs - Landon and Toby for various reasons and I at times got slightly irritated by them both. The reason for that was constant lack of communication that caused serious amount of stress for both men. Despite that both men were very likable, caring and at times sweet.

This was a very steamy a bit insta love romance. MCs engaged into a bit of kink, and I am glad that they didn't go too deep since they were both very inexperienced. I liked Landon's best friend Steffon. He was real firecracker who took $h*t from no one. His friendship with Landon was so sweet.

What irked me the most was how much page space author used for constant reasurance that everything was okay aka consensual in all areas of Landon and Toby's relationship. Practically every chapter there were pages worth of it, and unfortunately it got a tad repetitive. I mean one big serious talk would have been enough for me. The finale didn't live up to my expectations. It was all so mellow and simple without much angst. I think I wanted a bit of rough before it got better, and it was only better. It just didn't fit with the blurb. I expected something different based on that. The book wasn't bad, it's just that my expectations were slightly different and because of that I was left wanting.

Overall, the series has great potential since the next book will continue Toby and Landon's story. I wish I loved it more. Copy received for my honest review

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Although this book contains one of my least favorite tropes, instant love over a very short time (this book takes place mostly during one week), I actually did not mind it this time, which is a credit to the author!

Landon is a newly retired baseball champion, who has made the mistake of coming out of the closet during a reality TV show. Although at the end of the show, filmed months earlier, finds Landon engaged, he tragically finds out that the whole show was a fraud. Desperate for some human contact of the sexual kind, he breaks down and hires an escort for the evening. Toby turns out to be exactly everything that Landon has secretly desired.

Toby has developed a hard shell due to his career as a prostitute, but he finds that Landon breaks through his defenses for the first time in his life. Of course a major part of the plot is how these two men overcome the differences and backgrounds to a well-deserved HEA.

I really liked Landon (one of the sweetest men ever!) and super sexy Toby. Warning: there is A LOT of HOT SEX!! If that is not your catnip, you may want to skip this book. Although there are a lot of unanswered questions at the end, fear not. This is just Book 1 of Landon and Toby's story. I can't wait for the sequel!

I decent second effort by a new to me author. Yes, I changed my original review after further consideration. I continue to be vested in these characters and believe in their love story. I will look for a continuation of their growth as a couple. By the same token, I will continue to look for the growth of a new to me author.

Perhaps some tweaking should be the order of the day, next time around. Less is often better. 🦋

I absolutely loved this story! It’s the first MM book I’ve read and I’m glad I did. There is so much love and emotion in this story you can’t help but fall in love with Toby and Landon. There’s something so kind and perfect about Landon that really makes you feel what he’s feeling and the way Toby’s feelings for him start to come through you just find yourself hoping for a HEA. This book is full of hot steamy scenes, some darker emotional scenes and a whole lot of romance. I can’t wait to read more in the next one. I read this book as an ARC.

Landon hired a night with a man. On the other side of the door, there will be a man waiting in the hotel room, Landon is nervous.
Mostly Toby gets hired for a few hours but now it’s for the whole night. The man entering the room is nervous and shy.
Landon wants to back out but stays already and they have the best time.

Toby is trapped in his situation and Landon wants to help.
Even a week together can’t help Toby to feel really free.

Even though Toby’s situation isn’t the real core of the story I can’t spoil it.
The main story is about romance, finding love, and finding the one who can fulfill your needs.

Because of Toby’s situation, it’s all complicated, there is a push and pull. Guilty pleasure and feelings of guilt. Is it real or is it fake, money can buy time not love.
Experimenting with light BDSM was nice, the sexual encounters were appealing.
Sometimes it got a bit too sugar sweet for me and too much drama.
When I thought out what their personalities and feelings were, they seem to change. Not consistently outlined. It went from headstrong believes and promises to uncertain ideas and withdraw. It gave me a bit of a whiplash. The hurt could for my pleasure be persisted a bit longer. Still, I enjoyed this story. It was passionately written with true kindness.

‘This is your first time ever, first time with a guy, or first time with someone like me?’

Author Evie Drae is an RN and uses the gender-neutral third person singular subjective pronoun designation Ze for the LGBTQ books. The available books to date – BEAUREGARD AND THE BEAST and now HE OWNS MY HEART – the first volume of the OWNED HEART, BODY and SOUL series. The author is the recipient of multiple awards (Romance Writers of America, Golden Heart): this is a new author who deserves attention!

Evie’s ability to sculpt characters that are both credible and memorable characters and place them in near-recognizable settings is evident immediately as the story opens: ‘Landon stood outside a dilapidated motel off I-55 on the outskirts of Chicago. He held a rusted metal key, its edges dulled form years of use. The cracked red plastic of the key ring had the numbers 103 etched into its surface. A couple of flecks of gold trapped in the sharp corners of the 1 and 3 were the only telltale sign of the indented numbers used to bear a cheap inlay. His gaze drifted form the key in his hand to the chipped robin’s-egg blue door bearing the same number. On the other side of that worn, weathered piece of wood, a man waited for him. A man Landon had never met before, and a man he would never meet again. Which was exactly how he wanted it…right?’ A more pungent depiction of a male prostitute on a new client run would be difficult to imagine – and that is one of the many reasons Evie’s book works so well: verisimilitude.

The ‘encounter’ starts the book off with a smoldering and sensuous atmosphere. The author’s synopsis distills the plot well: ‘Landon Jenks, retired four-time Golden Glove-winning shortstop for the Chicago Cubs, is lonely, heartbroken, and in need of simple human contact. Only true love can free a captive heart.’

A very solid initial book of a series the promises to proceed with HE OWNS MY BODY and HE OWNS MY SOUL, Evie Drae is a welcome new voice and already commands respect. Highly recommended.

To start off...I really loved this story. It had me in the beginning of the first chapter. The author pulled no punches and jump right into the scene of Toby and Landon's first meeting. I loved that...no long drawn out chapters of Toby background or present situation and same with Landon. All the background we learn about the guys was thrown through out the book...refreshing... This really kept things moving forward and not a drag. Toby's contracted problem was so sad...especially how he got into that mess. I was so glad he found somebody like Landon that could bring him some joy in his life. Landon...i swear...that guy put me through so many feels. Such a sweet man going through his own pain and Toby was the bright spot for him to get through his insecurities. Through out this entire story the guys learn new things about each other...trust each other and eventually give their heart to one another. I know i kept waiting for the shoe to drop because of the overwhelming predicament Toby was in but the author handled the outcome very well with a little drama thrown in there to keep it a page turner. I'm glad I had an opportunity to read this amazing m/m romance and cant wait til the next book is out in the series.

I’m not sure any words I have are going to do my feelings justice, but I’ll give it a shot. This book is way outside my usual genre but I’m so happy that I read it. It’s beautiful, hot, deep and meaningful and just... amazing.

Landon and Toby are my favourite kind of characters, the type I can really tangibly feel like I understand. Their motives, their actions all make sense to me. Neither of them are perfect (who wants perfect?) but they are so true to their characters throughout the whole story.

The entry into BDSM was done so very well. It wasn’t rushed or brushed past just to get to the hot and heavy parts, it was treated with care and respect and my most important criteria... consent, consent, consent. It’s a perfect example of how consent can be done sensually, beautifully and naturally.

Without giving anything away, Toby’s story tore at my heart strings and it’s such an important topic that was treated with such care. This book packed so many important things without being overwhelming and managed to convey the emotions and feelings attached to it all so well. I’m rambling now but, lastly, as well as the emotion and care it was hot on So. Many. Levels.

I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a hot, sexy read with a just as gripping storyline. I’m so excited to see more from them.

Evie Drae does a magnificent job telling Landon and Toby’s story. This was a wonderful book of darkness, light, hope and love. Landon searched for someone to truly love and care for him. Toby worked one day to the next to survive the situation he found himself in that he saw no way out of. Well told story with some dark topics but a very good read.

I don't think that there are enough words to described this book. My heart kept breaking throughout this book. Landon and Toby's story will make your emotions go from one end of the spectrum to the other through the entire book. These have been so much that they think that they are broken but luckily, fate brought them back together and they realized that they needed each other more then words can describe. I absolutely loved this book and I couldn't put it down; I just had to find out what was next! If you have not read a book by Ms. Evie, (or even if you have), and like the dark romance to gut wrenching angst, love, some bickering and all around amazing book, then you need to this book. I can't recommend this book enough or this amazing author. I can't wait to see what Ms. Evie has in store next!

I honestly loved this story. It was sweet and beautiful and HOT!! Landon and Toby went through so many emotions and came out stronger. This was a great take on Pretty Woman...lol!! I didn’t realize it was the first in a series so I was taken back by how abrupt the ending felt but that didn’t take away from the story so no stars deducted. I will most definitely be looking out for the next book!

I had to think on this read for a bit because it's a heavy one. Not in a bad way—at all—but in a "my heart about burst and I couldn't love these characters more" way.

Toby and Landon each have their own tragic stories. This is a hurt/comfort tale for the ages. Their relationship is sweet and romantic and steamy, but they also fight for one another and don't take what they have for granted. Every moment between these two feels special and makes me love them more as a couple.

I'm so grateful there are two more books in this trilogy, because I don't think one would be near enough to satisfy my fix for these two. And the depth of the story, and the importance of the themes, all require it to continue.

Thankfully, there's a very satisfying HFN that allows me to breathe between now and book two's release, but I'll still be checking for that pre-order link on a regular basis. Can't wait!

I received an ARC of this book from the author and am leaving a voluntary review.

Thank you to the publisher and BookSirens for providing me with a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. It is set to be published in August 2020.

"He Owns My Heart" by Evie Drae is more than gay erotica, more than BDSM fiction, more than a romance novel, although it is all of these things.
First and foremost, it's the captivating story of two people who, based on the circumstances of their first encounter, are most unlikely to begin a love story, especially one that is healthy and built on solid consent.
I mean, Toby is a prostitute and Landon is the man who pays to be with him. That's not a great premise for a safe, sane and consensual relationship, is it?
Just leave it to this book to completely turn your preconceptions upside down, and to challenge your biases in every single page, with every single character you meet.
Extra points to the author for swimming against the tide when it comes to establishing the power dynamics in the couple, and for giving even a minor character like Steffon his own "big reveal" in the end.
Another thing I particularly appreciated is, "He Owns My Heart" is not just the gay version of "Pretty Woman", as much as I do love that movie: the violent, squalid reality of sexual slavery does not get glossed over in this book, but is faced head-on in the narration.
I think this novel is a rare gem in the erotica genre, because it's not very often you can see such painful, complex themes handled with this much respect and truth.
Overall, "He Owns My Heart" is a gripping read, combining some very steamy scenes with a good plot and some pretty serious, honest conversations about what consent means. This makes it one of the best erotica novels out there!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Okay folks, this is THE BOOK I’ve been waiting to review publicly. Mostly because I am fairly certain the author has tired of me gushing privately, but I digress.

So I am going to throw my normal disclaimer in case anyone doesn’t know me too well. Evie Drae is my bestie and my person and I love her so my review may carry some bias. That said, a big part of our relationship is writing. It’s where we started. Because of that we are, quite possibly, harder on each other than on anyone else. We absolutely will call each other out for issues we find in things the other has written and are painful levels of honest with each other ESPECIALLY about our stories.

Now, let’s get on to this review because… it’s gonna be a doozy. There is SO MUCH to cover we need to dive in immediately.

He Owns My Heart is a gender bending “Pretty Woman” retelling… if Julia Roberts had an evil pimp and if Richard Gere was a retired baseball player with Daddy issues.

One of Evie’s greatest talents is threading dark, haunting storylines with emotional depth and off the charts steamy sexy times. So, fair warning for anyone who read Beauregard and the Beast, He Owns My Heart dances much closer to the darker themes the author writes so well.

Let’s start off with Landon simply because the book does. He is a retired baseball player, newly released from the closet he stayed locked away in for years thanks to an oppressive and abusive father. He also was just freed from a toxic relationship that played out on national TV thanks to a reality show.

Now, Landon is possibly the sweetest, most genuine character I’ve ever met. Is he perfect? Absolutely not. He screws up at times AND ROYALLY, however his heart is so genuine and pure there isn’t a chance you could walk away from this read and not be in love with him. In a moment of innocent delusion, Landon is desperate for a true connection to someone, anyone, even if the connection is only physical so he hires a prostitute. He wants to be held and at least pretend to be cared for for just a few moments. His naivete is absolutely adorable and charming.

He gets WAY more than he bargains for when Toby is already waiting for Landon in the rundown motel Landon requested they meet in. Toby is a chiseled Adonis with a boatload of swagger and sex appeal that is just slightly (read: majorly) overwhelming to our little Landon. He realizes he is in way over his head and he asks for something Toby never bargained on… essentially a date. Now, don’t go thinking this means that they don’t get their smexy times on because TRUST ME THEY DO! And you need your own personal industrial sized fan to make it through the sex scenes without melting into a puddle of goo.

But first they have some Chinese, watch crappy TV, and… talk. All of which give Toby a serious case of the feels.

Let’s. Talk. Toby. Phew. Okay so, Toby is legit my type of man. One hundred percent. He is also absolutely beautifully broken. Which, okay, if you know me, yeah that is pretty on brand for me too. I love my broken boys. His backstory is one of the most heart wrenching I’ve encountered in a long time. I won’t give it away, but how he landed in his current “situation” (for lack of a better word) as a prostitute not only makes you fall just a little more in love with his character, but is also pretty hecking beautiful.

Let’s revisit the darkness Evie brings to the table. Hir villainous characters aren’t terrifying to the level you’re going to look under your bed for glowing red eyes, but they are much more sinister because they are creepy and slimy and just too frickin’ real. I have about thirteen thousand types of torture I envision for Howard and Garret (and a bit for Joseph). Trust me, you’ll be willing to be my accomplice when you read.

But don’t be deterred at all by the darker themes because Evie has an inexplicable way of weaving in beautiful, heart warming moments of love and connection in between. Which only serves to make the threats feel so much worse and the heartbreak you go through with Toby and Landon that much deeper.

There are a million ups and down in this exquisitely crafted M/M romance that you fully need to experience yourself. And since I am unable to actually fangirl over this piece to my normal person I fangirl over books with (i.e. Mx. Evie Drae herself) feel free to DM or email me with all the gushing and adoration because He Owns My Heart deserves every drop and I am super here for it.

Landon Jenks is lonely and needs someone to keep him sane. He is a retired four-time Golden Glove-winning shortstop for the Chicago Cubs. His contract specifically states that he cannot reveal his single status until the season finale of his reality show airs. So he calls an elite male escort service that caters to the rich and desperate to meet his needs.

Toby Carmichael is surprised when his handler sends him to a run-down motel. He is even more surprised to meet his client, a delightful guy covered with tattoos and nearly ten years his senior. The chemistry was instantaneous! For the first time since Toby was forced into this life, his kiss is genuine! But Toby can never have a future with Landon. But when the truth comes out, Landon is determined to save Toby at all costs.

This book is quite an emotional ride as the author makes the reader deeply care for these two broken people who deserve a much better life than they are getting. Finding each other can actually bring even more pain unless they can find a way to break out of their confinement and be with each other as they feel they are meant to be. The tension will keep the reader deeply involved from start to finish. Grab your copy and see if there is any way for a truly happy ending to their story.

Landon is a famous baseball player. He is also known as a senator’s son. Toby was once a cocky college student; he is now a prostitute. Landon hires the company that Toby works for. Landon wants to be held, so he pays for a full night. Toby usually does not to cuddling but here is something about Landon. Toby has a dark past and knows he can never escape his life. There was so much love and angst. This was a heartbreaking story, sooo good! Once I started it I could not put it down!!

Heartbreakingly beautiful

I am a first time reader of this author but I can guarantee this book will not be the last I read. Landon and Toby are so heartbreakingly beautiful and their interactions and the development of relationship is detailed, well written, and believable. Your heart breaks for these two men from the first chapter until the last. And although this is one of three books featuring Landon and Toby, you don’t feel like you are left hanging and waiting for the next chapter. It feels finished but also allows the reading to anticipate the next chapter of their lives. I cannot wait for the continuation of this series and more of these beautiful men.
