He leans across the table and whispers softly, "I should have mentioned I could be very protective...especially over the woman who's carrying my baby."
I blink. Then blink again. I don't know who to respond to that. If we were married and expecting, then it would be the most romantic thing he could say, but we're not in that situation. I am not his wife or his girlfriend.

This could have easily been a 4-5 star book for me, but Raddish and the author have made it less because it's been dragged out for so long. I only got to "chapter" 70 or so maybe more and I'm over waiting 3 hours for new "chapters," which are not really chapters, but sections. If it ever gets published I'll try reading it again in one book.
Emily started out as the vulnerable yet determined protagonist. She registered to be a surrogate because it seemed to pay well, and she needed the money for her father's heart valve surgery. Then she meets Colton, the insecure control freak, who wants to be involved in everything and be in the know about everything. He wants a son to give everything he does meaning, so they start the process of her surrogacy.
He falls in love but tries to run away from how he feels because he's afraid of being vulnerable - on the background of him being left at the altar a few years ago. Emily falls in love, but shies away because she has her inferiority complex overshadowing her. Then she becomes more honest and bolder whenever she gets tipsy, moving things along between the two of them.
From artificial insemination to miscarriage to conceiving their son the natural way, I thought the story progression was okay at the beginning. I liked that the author developed the story and the characters, showing they were deeper than succumbing to their carnal desires. More characters got introduced as the story developed, and the complexities of what makes them who they are start to become more apparent. But the story became longer and dragged on forever thereafter.
I like it that things worked out well for them when it comes to their families - that for a family of celebrities like the Collins, they accepted Emily for who she is and recognise that not only did she and Colton genuinely love each other, she also made him happy; likewise, Emily's family recognised that despite the unconventional way their relationship started, Colton was a good man.
The characters that were initially likeable at the beginning start becoming annoying as the plot develops though:
Colton cares about Emily but still has thoughts of his ex Eva (who dated and dumped him because she was in love with his brother Nick the whole time). He's insecure underneath his confident facade and he likes to run away to the club to keep his mind off his problems. Like, seriously, get a grip.
Emily is insecure and self-conscious, inferiority complex seeping out insidiously on many occasions. She needs to feel needed, so she thinks that she needs to be able to help others and care for others to give her own time and days meaning. She's too serious, can't let loose and have a little bit of fun unless it's pertaining to sex (then she becomes 'naughty'). With an overwhelming sense of responsibility, she's also a control freak who wants to control every aspect of her own life.
Then Emily's annoyingly stupid little sister, Diana, comes into the picture. Sure, she's in her late teens, just finished high school and just wants to have fun. But she wilfully does whatever she wants in Ibiza for her immediate gratification, and she doesn't recognise the red flags that keep waving at her.
I guess hindsight is always too late, but we probably see the parts of these characters we don't like because they remind us of our own stupidity and naivety when we were younger.
I finally decided that it's about time I stopped reading this. Radish app coins aren't cheap, and chasing a chapter every 3 hours isn't cutting it for me. The story is too longwinded and continues to drag on with lacklustre drama after the first 200 chapters. The author adds 3 new chapters everyday, but it's just going on and on at Chapter 362 with no real end in mind, and it's just too tiring to continue reading it anymore.
I hope the author manages to publish it as a book one day though. I think she writes okay, and she developed the plot adequately. To her credit, it's definitely better than 50 Shades of Grey, both in terms of grammar and storyline.
Update 06/06/2020: Okay, so I wrote my first review on 27/05/2020 but I’ve still held out and read the book. I don’t take back what I say - that it’s freaking tiring continuing with this book because not only do the chapters get shorter and have less content, but the characters just get more and more distasteful over time.
Emily is the protagonist (whom everyone is supposed to like) I have come to dislike over time. Her inner world is so entitled and self-righteous. She says she’s very private and hates the limelight, that she loves Colton, but she cannot accept the whole package of what being with a Collins entails. She freaks out over that, wants to walk away and doesn’t know what she wants. Speaking about the whole package, she doesn’t seem to have any issue with them staying in the suite of a hotel or booking a castle for a romantic gateaway. She talks about working as a nurse and helping the underserved, but she forgets that she has the luxury of volunteering in this clinic instead of getting paid because she has a rich fiancé, so she doesn’t need to worry about money. She says she loves Colton, but I don’t understand why the heck she’s always thinking about Dr Wolf when he does not need to be thought about. She is a freaking hypocrite. I dislike Christina’s overbearing ways, but at least Christina is more true to herself that Emily is.
Poor Colton. He’s so in love with Emily and is doing everything he can to keep her by his side, but he doesn’t have a clue that she’s thinking about Dr Wolf half the time. He thinks the world of her and thinks she’s so great, if only he knew. I don’t know which is worse, his mother or Emily. But obviously, he grew up biased against the former, so Emily’s the victim in Christina’s push for a wedding worthy of the Collins family brand.
And I hate how they try to parent Diana. Having a sense of responsibility for her does not equate to talking her down and not giving her space to learn to make her decisions and be responsible for them herself. I don’t think either of them have the right to tell her what they think is best for her, and what she should do for her life. She’s a wilful baby but she’s already an adult. I hate it when Emily tries to impress her “if only Diana could use her good for the world” thinking on Diana. Emily is definitely no Mother Teresa, so she has no ground to say anything.
Overall, I think it’s about time the author wraps up this story already. Get a freaking Collins wedding in the works, let them finally get married, say their vows, make sure Colton leaves the altar WITH his bride (Emily) to bring his whole tragedy to full circle, and end the story with a happily ever after. Because 400 chapters is just cray cray!
Update 24/08/2020: I’ve been reading other stories on Radish, so since this is still on my reading list, I claim the free episodes for kicks. I’ve read fellow readers’ comments about skipping Colton and Emily’s portions because they’re often about sex, which I’ve also done likewise.
I like Colton’s character development through the story. He and Craig are the ones who still have depth. The Valdez sisters are now really living up to the superficial name of the “Valdez vixens”. Perhaps one of the biggest disappointments about the book is Emily’s character development.
I don’t know whether the author intentionally portrays her as such, or the author lost her original character profile in the writing process, but the Emily in the later chapters has very little shadows of the insecure and meek Emily from the start of the book. Emily, who was supposed to be “low profile”, hardworking and humble, has really grown for the worse in the paraphernalia of the lavish lifestyle and change from middle to upper class. She is now selfish, attention seeking and wilful.
Instead of fighting for her relationship with Colton, she becomes petty and never thinks that she is ever wrong. Colton is always apologising and giving in to Emily’s wishes, even though she is often stupid and her terrible choices and decisions screw up their lives. She doesn’t reflect and doesn’t realise how far she has deviated from who she used to be. I don’t see Emily becoming more beautiful or confident, I see her becoming such an unlovable character and I wonder whether Colton and Emily maintain their relational intimacy largely due to the sheer amount of sex they have, and less because they want the same things in life.
Instead of pursuing her niche in nursing, she works on becoming an influencer, hankering after followers. Instead of being down-to-earth and frugal per her beginnings, she spends lavishly and has completely forgotten her friends from humbler beginnings. Instead of being the good mother she wants to be to Ethan, she left him in the care of Jennifer most of the time while she pursues her own interests or just initiating too much sex with Colton.
Don’t get me started on Diana. The sisters’ portions of the chapters seem to be about their selfish, wilful thoughts about themselves and themselves only, or about sex. They don’t even seem to care about their father (who was the reason why Emily chose to be a surrogate and whom Diana stayed back to take care of) and their mother.
There is a lot of love lost as the book progresses. People are complaining about the repetitive storyline, they dislike Emily and her stupidity and selfishness, Colton and Craig deserve better... and at this point in time, I guess more people hope for a break up than a wedding. It’s a sour outcome for a story that started fairly well.

Did anyone actually finish it? I feel like I’m living in the movie Groundhogs Day. I’m on chapter 198 does it ever end. Honestly I’m ready to stop reading it. These are chapters lasting roughly 5 minutes if that, each and if you choose to wait 1-3 hours between each chapters to get it free that’s great. If you were to purchase coin you’ll spend well over $200.00 for this book. The content is getting repetitive with zero trust, slutty teens, wining people and a baby that’s left with the nanny constantly. At this point the book is amateur at best and absolutely not worth the kind of money Radish and this author are asking for.
So it goes on and on, nice storyline but the way we have to wait and have very small chapters its a put off. I don't know if i will finish this book ,its not the book but the way its being delivered on this app. Disappointing.
I was drawn to Radish by this book. When I started reading this book, I found it really interesting and the story was good for the first 100 chapters but then reading further it was really annoying finding different story lines, I would sometimes wonder if I was still on the same book. So confusing. As if that was not bad enough I had to wait for 1 - 3 hours to read a chapter for just 3 to 5 minutes. I don't mind buying coins to read a chapter, but why waste my money when the chapters are terribly short. I mean if you would make us wait such a long time for one chapter at least make it worthwhile. You would think that the childish and annoying behavior of some of the major characters would be the icing on the cake, but wait till you learn that this book has over 500 chapters and still counting and it does not look like its ending soon. I stopped reading at chapter 200 because I feel like its a waste of my time and money and quite frankly it was no longer intriguing. I would not recommend this book in fact I would not advice that you to start reading this book but of course you are entitled to your opinion and you can choose to still read the book if you want to.
The book is not bad. It is expensive to read this book as Raddish exploites readers. I would not recommend paying to read this book in Raddish. If you can buy a print of the book then it is fine but do not purchase it in Raddish site. It is not worth it. The main disappointment with this book overall story is streched to much.
I'm not one to normally write a review on this book, however it had me hooked from the first page. I really enjoyed reading this although waiting three hours between chapters was frustrating and this will put a lot of people off reading it. I did however stop reading after Chapter 41, nobody wants a book to end but I felt after Emily had the baby that this was the right time to stop reading. There are loads of chapters being uploaded and although I'd love to binge read through them all - even with the three hour wait! I felt like this was the right time to stop reading. It connected the characters and theitr storylines and I wouldn't want to ruin this by reading further.
If you want similar books with amazing storylines check out Lori Ryan and the Sutton collection. Just finished them and they were fantastic!
Incredibly frustrating that there's over 500 chapters and no where to just buy the buy to read outright . Radish is a scam of a website and the author isn't doing themselves any favors not providing their material where people would buy to read. i will never read the last part of the book because its been made impossible.
I am on chapter 492 and it just stops. I have coins left and I have to wait. Why? I have invested a lot I to this book. Why can't I just finish reading it at this point? There should be a link or something so that you can at least buy the remaining chapters if yo uh choose to. I could have bought several hard copies for what I've paid so far. I'm almost so disgusted that I don't care what happens. When my coins are gone I will be waiting on any free chapters from here on out. That's for sure. Very disappointed in this author for not just putting it on kindle or Amazon
Ok so the book itself was great! There was a few things that were a little off putting but the reasoning for my lower rating is that to read the sequel you have to download some app called radish and apparently people said you have to pay for it? Which I get 100% but it seemed like just weird to go from a published book to a online site that people don’t seem fond of. Could’ve been a great series if it wasn’t split up like this. I won’t be reading the sequel on the app either btw. So if anybody can tell me what happens lmk
On chapter 62, in the beginning it seemed like a story with a great plot but now I wonder if there is anything in store worth waiting for. No suspense, no drama besides the usual predictable everyday couples fight. Girl meets super rich boy, they fall in love, have usual couple problems...you find yourself thinking your own love life may make a better read in comparison.
Ok so a bit of this story is on Facebook, I don’t think you can go buy it so I started reading EVEN although I do NOT read contemporary stuff, the book art and title was engaging so I began to read? First it says read for free on Radish which is an app so I down load because it was kinda good then you read just a tad more and it starts telling you you either have to wait 30 min to an hour to unlock the next chapter or buy “coins” well I am definitely not a person that likes to stop reading when I am into a book so I go in and buy 155 coins which translates into $14.99 ok. Where the scam you ask because most of us pay that for book club stuff ect. Well I seriously feel like the author exhaust most of their talent on the first few VERY short chapters that hooked you. The app offers you this. Big deal it wants you to pay $9.99 to get 200 coins which is more than enough to buy the book you are reading BUT if you read the fine print and ladies ALWAYS read the fine print it will bill you monthly. I didn’t do that I did buy it and it ended up being a very B rated book 3 stars and all of those are for the first third of it. Each steamy scene and their is ONLY three are a sentence long then that’s it and it was over very very PG. I seen people saying they need to make this Into a movie 😂😂😂😂they did it’s called Fifty shades of Grey and that author can write. Don’t get pulled in reading not worth it overall.
I just deleted the app from my phone. I am on chapter 1100 and the story just keeps getting longer with new characters. Costing me way too much and no end in sight. goodbye radish
The first 40 chapters I’d have rated it higher but now that I’m 200’chapters in and have already spent $20 I will say DO NOT start reading this. The author has clearly gotten greedy with 500 chapters and 50 different story lines. I think that anyone who’s gotten into the 100 chapter range would agree if only they let us pay for it we may have a different feeling towards the book. The app is greedy you have to pay $.99 for 6 coins. This gets you 2 chapters that are ***maybe*** 10 minutes of reading. There are way to many things going on the Main character has done a complete 180 and they keep introducing a new character and new set of mostly boring drama every other chapter. The book is no longer likable and you hate every character. The main character started as this sweet naive virgin college student and has turned into this mom who complains and starts drama every page and leaves their baby with a nanny any chance she can all in about a years time. I’m overall very disappointed in the way this book has carried on and would never read another book by this author or read anything on the terrible app Radish.
The story started out as a nice love story, where your waiting for the beautiful wedding at the end. There is no end in sight. You would not expect a book to be this long. I’m on chapter 932. Yes, I said NINE HUNDRED AND THIRTY TWO. This is not what I would call a book. It’s an extremely long run on sentence. Each chapter is a few paragraphs long, taking no more than three or four minutes to read. Then you have to wait an hour until the next chapter is released or purchase coins to open the next chapter. I do not recommend this author nor do I recommend Radish app.
Im not sure if there is more to the story- based on the comments seems like there might be- but I read until chapter 41 and I liked it. I love Colton. He’s definitely dreamy. Since I was reading it on Radish and then found it on fb. There is definitely a chance there might be more to the story. Guess I’ll find out 3 years from now when I finally make it to chapter 41 on Radish. :p
I have been reading this book forever. I really want to like it and have bought into it - spending more to read this book than be ever spent on a book; however, after reading almost 1200 chapters and seeing no end in sight I’m very frustrated. The author keeps introducing new characters and storylines which indicate she has no clue where it’s going or when it will end.
The Billionaire’s Surrogate by Jami Gallardo should have been a five-star read for me. I love the billionaire’s baby trope, but unfortunately this book frustrated me no end. It really could have been stellar, but needed more sizzle, depth, and development. Also, the author (and editor) needs to banish “I’m’ from their vocabulary. Yes, it’s a legitimate contraction- but unfortunately there were like 3 billion of them throughout the story, and many of them used in place of ‘I am’- which just didn’t work in those particular instances. It made the whole story seem amateurish and very unpolished. The editor really let the side down here. The premise is good, the storyline is interesting and intriguing, the story starts off great, but over time it just gets sloppy and incredibly frustrating. I think with a little more work, a different editor, added depth and intensity, and some extra hot sizzle- tent this book could be quite a captivating and stellar read. I’m left disappointed- for myself and the author.
I’m reading this book and it started out to be the best book that I have ever read. The story line at the beginning made you want to keep reading and I could not put it down. Now the story has taken a different direction and I have invested so much with Radish that I have to walk away from this book or soap opera if that’s what you would like to call it. I heard that the author, Jami Gallardo, is not writing this story any more. She’s hired writer’s to continue to write the supposedly story (soap opera) which has ruined it. The readers who have paid to read this story are out raged on how these writers have trashed this story. It’s never going to end. If Jami is smart she will take back the “The Billionaire’s Surrogate” and write a happy story line and finally end the story.
At first, I read this book every chance I got. I couldn’t put it down. All I could do was read it on Radish. It was so exciting and when I caught up where you only get three episodes a day, I went back and reread it. Unfortunately, Jami G. Is no longer writing this book as I write this review. She has given inexperienced writers writing this soap opera. It’s a never ending story now going nowhere. I don’t know how she could have given these writer’s permission to destroy this book and turn it into RUBBISH. I wish she would take a the book BACK and listen to the people who pay to finally end this story for good. Jami seems to be an excellent writer and I hope she sees my review. Janet
First 50 chapters of this book where great, thereafter up & down. Now on chapter 1800 still no end in site, They only release 3 chapters a day these are getting shorter. Constant drama in nearly every episode. Radish appt constant cash sucker. I’ve been watching adds & doing coin challenge to save money. No one ever responds to your complaints. Half way through the book it says the writing is now done by a team of writers with Jamis oversight. Won’t be reading any more books by Jami if this is an indication of how things go. Worse part is this book had the potential to be great or even a movie or short drama. What a shame GREED took over & now it’s like a CASH COW.
Interesting premise I had to keep reading to see all the sparks fly. Emily annoyed me, insecure, sabotaging her relationship to feel secure, insta angry very passive aggressive behavior. The format is set up to make you rabidly addicted to the story. Once it reaches its inflection point it just circles the drain with argument, make up, repeat. I found it draining. The couple had so little trust in each other but couldn’t bear to be apart. There was no concrete ending. I was fortunate to hear the “audio” version. I couldn’t find the book on Apple or Audible. The Kindle version reviews warn it too is incomplete.
