For two couples, discovering each other means finally finding love

No Competition

Local architect Shayne Reynolds is an art collector, but when it comes to Carrie Lockett, he’s as interested in the artist as he is in her California landscapes and stunning portraits. The talented and reclusive Carrie, however, rejects his overtures, but she won’t tell him why…even though he knows she returns his feelings.

All Things Considered

Single mom Lanni Matthiessen has worked hard to make a nice life for her daughter. She never expected to see her trouble-magnet ex, Judd, ever again. So why did it feel so right to Lanni when Judd walked back into her life? And why did she agree to accompany him to the Matthiessen ranch when all it could do was bring back dangerous memories?

Carrie is an artist. She paints wonderful paintings but she is so insure. She is in town an her sister Camile is the beautiful one. Shane is an architect who loves Carrie's paintings. He buys one that she has done of her sister, Camille. Since he seems so enthralled with that painting She does not think she has a chance of competing with her sister so she becomes rude to him to push him away.

Carrie really likes him but is afraid that she will lose him once he finds out about her sister. That seems to always happen to her.

I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down. At times I didn't know whether I should laugh or cry. Check it out for yourself. I think you will enjoy it.

So this is a two novella collection. The first one was decent. I enjoyed it. However, the second one...I wouldn't even give one star to. Nothing in it made sense. There were so many poor word choices. In no reality does it take three days to drive from Seattle to anywhere in Montana...especially when you're driving from morning to at least mid-afternoon. Every single character was a self-centered brat. The two main characters didn't have anything like a true relationship - just attraction fueled passion. Their interactions and "relationship" was both destructive and toxic right to the end. Hated it.

I used to love Debbie McComber, maybe it was the cedar cove series or maybe it’s because my taste for romance isn’t as juvenile as it used to be. But I was irritated with the main character of no competition. Her self doubt and insecurity was bothersome. The second book, all things considered was okay, but again the back and forth and self doubt got boring. Worth it if you’re looking for a quick read and a break from your normal genre. I gave it three stars because it made me did feel some emotions.

This is not one of Macombers better books. Originally written in 1987 it has a rather dated feel to it especially in the second novella where one character prevents phone calls from reaching another. Cell phones were way less common in '87. Both novellas had female characters who were either low self esteem or completely ridiculously immature. The first novella, No Competition was better than All Things Considered which was the second. I had to force myself to finish that one.

If I could give it more than five stars I would. This is by far the best book I have read in a long time

Fairly predictable romance.. two stories in one book. Better than watching a movie!
