After the Virus #2

Homesteading

Rate this book
When the world ended, Henry certainly had his hands full keeping his clan alive. After all, it's no easy task bringing electricity back to the world, much less raising animals, expanding the farm, and everything in between. Still, given enough time, he could do it all.

There's just one problem. An insurgent group has sprung up, and they're determined to kill him and all the other men so they can steal away women for breeding purposes. And that is something Henry cannot abide.

What I have come to learn about Simon Archer is that he writes somewhat interesting stories that has a little bit of sex in them and that he can write really fast! He puts out one book after another. It's actually pretty impressive. The downside is that while every book I have read so far has been somewhat interesting, there hasn't been anything that I really loved. There always seemed to be something missing that would turn the book from good to great. This book had that same issue.

It has been about 3-4 months since the end of the last book. Spring is starting and now comes the hard work of making the farm work. The biggest problem that I had with this book is that not much happened. Henry talked about all the things he wanted to do to make the farm and his family grow, but didn't actually do much of it. He has his two girls and then adds Estelle to the mix in this book. For him having so many women there was actually only one sex scene. He takes a trip to Atlanta to pick up more survivors that were found in the first book.

Overall I can't find it in me to recommend this story, but I also can't say it is bad and they shouldn't read it. It is one of those 50/50 take it or leave it kind of stories.

Not bad

The villain is waiting in the wings but slowly coming out.The M.c is kind of a poon. Those kind of weak and pathetic acts of kindness will not help you in a post apocalyptic world.

The CDC doctor, Estelle White, former Marine Angela Powers, and the survivalist Bruce Gassler had joined Henry and Jackie at the farm. Gassler had found five more survivors, which he brought to the farm to help with livestock and chores. The ten-year-old survivor Tommy Flint came as well as the baby Irene. Herny was busy setting up solar panels for power. A hybrid wolf that Jackie called a Coy Wolf was giving the survivors grief. They needed to be rid of the threat. Another threat was an evangelist named Ray Price, he was building a following of rebels near Birmingham. Henry had already had an encounter with one of his followers, nearly killing him. Ray Price, a radical if not psychotic Reverand, was a piece of work. No doubt he would make an appearance at some point. Henry’s little clan was increasing as he and Gassler found other survivors. There was much to do. Henry continued scavenging supplies and materials. Survivors with various abilities showed up here and there to add to the “family”. Ray Price was always in Henry’s thoughts. This is a very good apocalypse story. The narrator, Ryan West is quite good. I enjoyed it very much.

Decent storyline

Read a few of Simon Archer's books most have a good plotline and are worth the read. This is a different take on the viral apocalypse story. I keep waiting for the corpses to get up or something to hatch out of them. The only complaint I have is the ar-15 usage. US military does not use this fun in any capacity. Law enforcement might by not the military. M-16 or m-4 are in main line use with various add-ons. Ar-15 is a civilian gun.

Growing the clan

Slow and steady wins the race. That pretty much sums this book up.A lot more of the clan building not much of the romance. Fun combat but our MC Henry is not very aggressive until put to the wall. I like the parts That make the story a bit unusually goldeneye and I hope more unusual things came from the virus..... There is a lot left there as nobody has any explanation for yet and it did some and usual things. We'll see with the next book brings.

Awesome!

I have read the first 2 books of this series and can't wait to get started on the 3rd one. These books are completely different then most end of the world series. And they are awesome. They are so close to what would really happen. Then again there is that little twist. They are GREAT. I have a new favorite author. This guy really knows what he is doing. Keep them coming...

Penthouse apocolypse

It's kept my interest enough to keep reading. The harem gathering by the main character,, through no fault of his own-it's all the women's idea, followed by all the wonderful sex is wearing thin. I like the coywolf, although hints of the dogs seeming smarter have gone unexplored. Maybe some of the loose threads can be built on if another book follows. I'd read another if it appeared.

Home is where you park your Blackhawk

Homestead is the natural follow of After the Virus.
Most of us,out here in West Texas understand the problems they are faced with, but by letting the group grow, sets the stage for book 3.Great job Mr Atcher

Exelent read

A fun book and good story line not many unbelievable parts that aren't covered by plausable explanations. I did a "straight through" read of the two books currently available and want more.

end of our world continues

good story with some curious and a little bit funny quirks. How come the bad guy in a lot of SHTF stories are a variation on Jim Jones self declared chosen religious leader?

Interesting!

I loved this book except for the main character having 3 or 4 wifes. It would have been a lot better if he only had one wife! With that aside it has lots of action, loved the big Cotswold and the dogs. Lots of good dialog and interesting characters.

Pretty Disappointing.

After reading the first book in this series, I expected a lot more romantic interludes and not so much random filler. And the biggest disappointment is the fact that the second book left the series so unfinished! 😔

A great sequel

Another great book. Builds fantastically on the first to further flesh out the world. I'm getting really attached to the clan of misfits.

If you like "The Walking Dead," you'll like this book. It's a decent apocalyptic dystopian story.
