Earth was struck by hundreds of thousands of little meteorites. Billions died worldwide. Shortly after, a disease spread across the planet, killing almost everyone above the age of eighteen. And the final ingredient for the perfect storm of chaos - inside the meteorites were small blue crystals that gave a small portion of the surviving youngsters super powers.
Lucas wasn't fortunate enough to be one of the few with super powers. But it didn't matter. He was still going to kill those bastards that now thought they were gods.
This is like an adult (more sex) version of "The Boys" mixed with Brandon Sanderson's Reckoners. Don't read if you're easily offended.
An interesting idea that was poorly executed. A meteor shower killed off a lot of the world. It also brought with it crystals that killed almost everyone over 18. 1% of the population of kids that was left got super powers. The only way to kill someone with super powers is to cut off their head. This book asks the question what would happen if there are no longer an parents and the kids run the world and some of those kids had super powers. Apparently the author thinks that almost every single person with super powers would end up being a sadistic bastard who kills people on a whim, takes slaves, and rapes whoever they choose. Then the people that are normal would form gangs and be almost as bad. The people left over would be the victims. I just can't see something like this happening. The world was changed only 5 or so years ago. Wouldn't some of the supers want to be heroes? How would the world survive with a system this author wrote about. Who would grow the food, makes the clothes, do the actual work? I also thought the language came across as vulgar. I don't mind an F bomb. I don't mind when a person really needs to curse, I just don't like it when there isn't a reason for it. Too many F words, C words. Too much casual nudity and sex talk without any emotion behind those words. The sexual situations were all messed up too. Nothing really good about the story. Some of it was okay and some of it was real annoying.
This book is difficult for me to rate, but I have done so anyway. At this point I did not see any written reviews and decided I would provide one. There are a few minor wording errors in the book, but nothing that stopped the flow. The background and the world building was awesome. It was well done, made sense to me on how things progressed in the world.
The action scenes were not perfect, but were written fairly well. I enjoyed all of the fights, but could have used more. Oh, the "evil" characters, definitely evil and cruel. I commend the author for this.
So, the reason this book is only 4 stars (I went back and forth on making it 2 or 3 - the world building saved it) is because of the main character's relationships. It was discussed, but not well defined. I felt this was extremely lacking and just thrown in to have some "hot women" in the book. The sex scenes were not very good, and seemed to just be thrown in there because... got to have sex... I could have accepted either not having the scenes or better descriptions. The way it was written made me feel like it was a waste of words.
Post apocalyptic supers vs normie assassin. Kinda of a gritty reckoners vibe. No punches pulled describing the world or villains. Def getting the next one. Harem is developing
Better than most in this genre. This story is intense and seems to get better as it goes along, it gells. The characters seem to get more solid more real.
