Life offers tremendous lessons. And when you put them with scripture, you can learn a lot about God. Lynne Modranski wants to encourage and inspire with these twenty devotions based on these life lessons. Lynne began studying scripture in her youth but learned as many rules as she did memory verses. By her twenties she questioned just about everything she’d been taught. She wanted to know the truth. To that end she began digging into scripture, and there she found freedom. Through her studies and her new relationship with Jesus, Lynne discovered her passion to teach, encourage and evangelize. When she combined that with her love to write, she found her heart on paper in songs, devotions, Bible studies and more. Currently Lynne leads worship and small groups at Sycamore Tree Church where her husband pastors. She golfs and swims with her grandchildren and crochets and colors all winter.

This book was cozy yet edifying. It called me to truth without shame or guilt. The author relates her own life experiences to help draw the parallel to Scripture and to show that we really can run this race when we put our faith in God.
I have read a lot of Christian books and more than a few devotionals. This one is not bad, but not spectacular, either.
First of all, there was nothing inaccurate or misleading in this ebook. Everything is orthodox and biblically sound.
The author writes with an easygoing style that feels like she’s chatting with a new friend, sharing her experiences and insights in a natural, non-threatening way. The book is actually a collection of selections from several other devotionals she has written—most likely designed to introduce readers to her work and gain additional followers.
While all of this is fine, I felt like this book was more self-revelatory than inspirational. Each devotion contained a Bible verse or two, followed by an illustration from the author’s life intended to explain it. That’s all. There was no application for the reader, no suggested prayer or action point. It felt more like the book was about the author than God or her readers.
They say the best things in life are free. Being a senior citizen [almost 70] and on a fixed budget does impact what I can read as I’ve become a rather prolific reviewer of nonfiction Christian books. Because of this, I usually limit my selection of the books I review to those I can win through giveaways or read as an Amazon KU [KINDLE Unlimited]. My recent perusal of Christian devotional books led me to find this book offered for free; I didn’t hesitate to download it. It was then I realize in reality; it’s a sampling of several of the author’s other Christian writing endeavors.
I found the sampling rather soothing, starting with the scripture selection and followed by a narrative or an experience from the author’s life, expounding on the given scriptures, all fulfilling what the author wrote for the book’s description, especially the peaceful nature of the devotions being offered. The prices for the full books are reasonable, in my opinion. For providing potential readers a free introduction to some of her other books, I give Ms. Modranski 5 STARS.
