This book was all over the place. Way to much going on and made my head spin. I rolled my eyes so many times throughout. The ending was horrible. Definitely not a “ thriller”. I forced myself to finish it.

Grabs you from the start and keeps you turning the page. But not all is as it seems to be … not at all.

For those who like psychological thrillers, this book fills that need. But at times I wondered, who was the real psycho? Delia or those whom she seemed to attract into her life? She always suffered the bad effects and kept saying she learned to be strong, but learning to be strong and being stupid are two different things.

We have several plots running here at the same time and no one is really who they seem to be. But one thing is certain, psychopaths play a leading role. Soooooo, we have Anita…. Madison…. Clayton …. Tina…. Ray… Rob… Marcella … who can Delia trust? Anyone? Or are they all complicit in this game of love and revenge?

👁 OBSERVATIONS:

Don’t blink because the page that follows will leap to another twist that actually could be a book by itself. The Andrew, Delia, Anita and Lea part easily could be a separate book, as could the Madison, Marcella angle. Then there’s Clayton, Kelly, Robert, Tina and Delia…. again, a good book could be written right here.

Why three stars? Too many plot twists making the complete storyline unrealistic. I’ve always heard a good fiction will be based on reality. There was simply too many different scenarios here to be realistic. Yes, each one on their own could be plausible, but not everything thrown in together.

😱 CHARACTERS:

Andrew: Well lets just say, he got off way to easy. For me, seeing him live a life of remorse would have been much better, stronger.

Delia: Seemed like she set herself up for pain and more pain. She made a lot of questionable choices leaping into dangerous scenarios without any backup. That was very unrealistic.

Anita: Her story easily could have been a separate book. She’s a very complex character.

Clayton: I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. I just kept wondering, ‘What If’

Worst Book I have read in my 65+ Years

This is so poorly written that this fact supersedes the total inane story.
It portrays the main character as a week simpleton living throughout series of totally improbable happenings.
It was so bad I has to finish it so that other potential readers can be warned off.

Delia's husband is killed the night she goes into labor. Months later, Delia's baby is stolen. What happened?

Have you ever read a story where you continually rolled your eyes the entire time? This was one of those books for me. Delia was not an interesting character to read about even though there was a lot of drama surrounding her life. The story was predictable and not enjoyable.

This book started out very strong but I lost interest about half way through. I did read it in its entirety. Death of a husband/friendship/birth of a child/kidnap of said child all make for a great plot line. There seems to be a lot of potential as it started but momentum was lost and ending was so predictable.

I love all of L G Davis books. But I have to say this must be my favorite, the story just draws you in.

It starts with Delia going into labour and has no one by her side when she gives birth as she can't get hold of her hubby or her best friend, when the police arrive not long after the birth of her baby to tell her that her husband is dead, what should have been one of the happiest times in her life turns into her worst. She struggles to cope with postpartum depression and grieving her husbands death. As things start to look up Lea her daughter goes missing....

I am not going to say any more as I don't want to give anything away but it is a roller coaster of a book and a few twists and turns I really didn't see coming. I really enjoyed this story and i can't wait to see what L G Davis gives us next.

Beginning was strong. Interesting and draws you in with the promise of a good story. However, the middle just comes out of nowhere. We are introduced to a new character that the MC never mentions until she drives to her hometown. The story branches off in a way it doesn't need to, for no reason. I did finish it, though the 'twists' kind of come out of nowhere.

The writing style is decent, good enough to keep me reading and finish. Though, again, the middle to the end come out of nowhere for no reason. I think it could have been a much better story if there were fewer characters and the 'fluff' characters were cut.

This book was bad. It was poorly written, including incredibly unrealistic plot lines and random switching between present and past tense. The author went way overboard with "twists" that made me roll my eyes. The interactions between characters were stiff and awkward like it was written in a high school English class. The flashback scene was especially cringey to read. Not worth your time or the 99 cents to download the ebook.

I didn't like this book at all. I'm not sure how it got such a high goodreads rating. The beginning and middle of the book was very boring and I could not connect at all with the main character. There were other things happening that you assume are going to all come together at the end, and they kind of did, but it still wasn't enough to make this book interesting. I was extremely disappointed in the book - especially when marked as a psychological thriller.

Not another book where the author treats the reader as an imbecile and stretches their credulity to snapping point?
Yes.
Anita so obviously bad bad bad from the word go.
Not a single twist comes as any surprise, it’s a shame, and ultimately a great big depressing yawn until happy ever after ending which is so hollow you can hear your brain cells rattle.
Sorry, not for me.

Couldn't finish

This book just wasn't for me. I couldn't stand the whiney, dumb bunny main character and the unbelievable plot and writing style finally got to the point where I had to put it down.

I read this until the end and although a good plot, I thought this book was really poorly written. Lots of inconsistencies and errors, and not believable. Could have been much improved with a good editor

I rolled my eyes so many times while reading this book. From the pool of implausible ridiculous turns of events or “twists”, every single one was thrown in here. But I finished it - in the spirit of pure soapy entertainment.

Delia

Delia's husband has passed away and she's left caring for her baby alone. She's having a hard time with her loss and having a newborn so a friend talks her into getting a nanny. This decision will lead her down a long road of trying to find her baby when she's taken from her crib.
This book has twists and turns to it. For a little bit I was confused on why things were happening that didn't pertain to the story. At the end it all comes together though.

I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. Such a horrible situation for Delia to lose her husband to an accident the same night giving birth to her daughter. This story shows the difficult journey for Delia who tries to balance the grieving process and the post-partum depression, while also trying to raise her newborn baby and hold down her job.

When her daughter goes missing, her nightmare has begun. First losing her husband and now her daughter! I felt so so bad for Delia, what a horrible situation to be in. This was such a well written, suspenseful story. I was at the edge of my seat quite a few times and couldn't wait to find out who took Lea and why? I also felt L.G. Davis did a good job depicting how hard it would be for a new mother to handle both situation at once.

Now to the ending, it was insane and well though out. I hope you enjoy this book as well.

This book started really strong but lost me in the last third. Too many plot intertwined, all filled with liars, psychos who hated Delia. Really, how can a single person attract so many weirdoes? There were so many characters that when one was mentioned I had to think to remember which psycho that one was. I also had the impression the storyline was a bit off, I could never understand how much time had passed between scenes, and the timeline was inconsistent at times. It's a shame because the idea was very good.

Wow! Definitely a thriller. Had me guessing and suspecting whodunnit. I kept my heart in my throat and my stomach in knots worried what we would find as we turned the next page. I was whispering turn on the lights in some scenes, don’t go in there for others. Ohmygosh I was on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. L.G. Davis certainly has a handle on the thriller genre! Amazing!

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

Too far fetched for me

I'm afraid as I read more of the story it just got slightly ridiculous, not a book I would recommend.

This was a good thriller, with lots going on. Delia is happy with her life, that is until her husband is killed on the night she goes into labor for their first child. Andrew has gone out to get her ice cream and never returns. In the meantime, Delia is going into labor. She gives birth to her baby daughter, Lea and her life goes totally downhill from there.

Delia suffers grief, and post partum when she arrives home with her new daughter. She has no one to help her except Anita who has become a good friend and lives near. Anita is an alcoholic, trying to stay sober, and trying to be a good friend. Unfortunately, she makes poor decisions and mistakes start to happen.

The baby cries all the time, doesn't seem to bond with Delia and as a result, Delia is exhausted on top of her grief. Delia has also suffered a tragedy in the past, that keeps her from delving too deeply into her past with anyone. The reader wonders if she committed a crime and just what is she hiding.

In the course of the story, Delia is portrayed as a terrible mother because she doesn't know how to calm her baby. She posts a blog one night, by accident and with little sleep, almost wishing she didn't give birth to Lea because she feels inadequate. This doesn't help her at all and now, someone has kidnapped her baby. Or did Delia kill the baby?

The cast of characters is long and any one of them can be guilty. Nothing is as it seems. The child is missing, and Delia's past is about to hit her between her eyes. Is her daughter dead, and if not, just where is she?

Suspenseful Psychological Thriller

This is the first book that I have read by L.G.Davis and I am now a fan of her writing! I can’t wait to read more of her books.

This book has many twists and turns started with Delia giving birth to a baby girl alone in her hospital room when her husband didn’t return from the store to get her ice cream. He died on that trip and Delia had to learn to be a single mom all while grieving the loss of her husband. She leans on her Nextdoor neighbor and best friend only to eventually find out that she was hiding a secret. Delia was struggling at work and making a lot of mistakes, so her boss told her to take some time off to grieve, during this time off, she hired a nanny to help her get the rest that she needed to heal, but this proved to be a nightmare. This is a great page turner!

So very much going on.

Wow. This book drew me in then left me floundering. The main character either has the worst luck of anyone in the world, or this book is just simply unbelievable even as fiction. The kidney disease, the lifetime stalker, the cheating husband, the killer neighbor, the nanny agency she just happens to hire also kidnaps babies. I mean come on. Even for fiction it was hard to swallow.
The main character went from collapsing on the floor out of despair because she lost hope to one sentence later she springs back to her feet holding onto a sliver of hope. It was such an extreme flip flop. I felt like there was enough drama and extra characters for a couple of suspense novels. But there was just too much crammed into one story line.

I could not put it down! From the beginning of the book, you are going to be hooked! You will soon be addicted to this very intense, suspenseful read! you might think that giving birth to your first child, and losing your husband on the same day, would be the worst thing that could happen. If you think that, he would be wrong. something a little worse than that, is if you then have your child taken away from you! Will you lose your mind, before you find your child! Will your past come back to greatly destroy your present? all these things, plus a lot more, or what you’ll find in this book! This is a definite, definite must read!

My review of THE STOLEN BREATH by L.G.Davis

The STOLEN BREATH by L.G. David is filled with unbelievable happenings, and so many criminals who have serious psychological problems to possibly story out who the guilty parties might be. It seems that everyone is tied together in one way or another which left me in a total quandary. The author keeps you guessing from the beginning until the very end! Talk about a crime gone terribly wrong. I felt the mother's pain, and as it turned out, she had no one to trust! It is a well written book, though parts of it are difficult to believe. Thanks, L.G.Davis , for a book that entertained me, and allowed me to escape my own issues!

Another amazing book by LG Davis. A tense thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat. Delia is happily married and expecting. Her life seems perfect. The day that Delia gives birth to her baby, her husband is nowhere to be found. He was supposed to have been at the hospital with her. She soon finds out that he has died. Delia is grief stricken. How is she going to raise her baby by herself? She must go on for her baby's sake.

One day she puts her baby, Lea, in her crib
while she showers. Once she is done, she goes to check on Lea but the crib is empty.

This book is a must read for thriller fans. It was excellent. I read it in one day.

This was gooooood.

Wow this book had me book line and sinker.
Going into labour and giving birth on the same night your Husband is murdered. But it gets so much better. The twists and turns left me having difficulty putting it down. I can honestly say it is the first book that didn't leave me wanting another book. The stories of the characters are well developed and do weave well.
I'm very impressed with this writer's works. Tosca if you ever wanted to do a thriller on Passionflix, GET THIS BOOK!
