I've always followed two rules: I don't get caught up in any drama, and I don't get attached. Until her: Chloe Archer. She started as a job, but now she's more than that. And now I know how it feels to claim her, I don't want anyone but her. I'm not giving Chloe up without a fight, and you better believe, I play dirty. She belongs to me now. She just doesn't know it yet.
The Temptation Series: One Temptation Two Rules Three Favors (coming 2019) Four Rules (coming 2019)
Note: 'Two Rules' was previously published as 'Tease Me'.
Roxy Sloane is a romance junkie with a dirty mind. She lives in Los Angeles and loves writing sexy, complex stories about pushing the boundaries and risking it all.
I liked this second book a bit more than the first since it came up with some interesting twists that I wasn't expecting. It was nice to see Jase standing by Chloe through it all even though she got pulled into even more situations that were crazy. And it was incredibly hot. Although I could go without hearing about "eight inches" over and over.
Enjoyable read, follow on in the temptation series. Chloe is just getting down and heavy with Jase when her fiancé finds a good reason to force her to continue with the marriage plans. It’s an interesting read, little sex, but lots of tension. There is a hea and I will read more from this author.
Two Rules picks up where One Temptation ends. Jase is still obsessed with his eight inches although he can’t get those inches back in Chloe at the moment. I have no sympathy for Jase's or Chloe. True to form as often in real life, Chloe can't keep herself away from Jase despite his deceit (She’s sprung on the eight inches). Max is worse a jerk that I first thought, and the whole Maywaring family is as ugly as their last name.
Chloe has secrets, career-ending mistakes that she made as a teenager. After Chloe and Jase decide to engage in a "sex only" relationship, things appear to be working out until Max decides he wants Chloe back. Chloe takes Max back, leaving Jase wondering what happened. Jase's king kong sized ego is shattered (briefly-score one for the ladies!). Jase doesn't take it's over well and continues to pursue Chloe. Eventually, Chloe fesses up why the sudden change and return to the Maywaring cult. Jase and Chloe work together to get her out of the mess she's in so that they can have their HEA. Don’t get it twisted. There’s no romance in this story only screwing and heavy petting.
I'm off the fence about this series. On the one hand, I find it mildly refreshing that the character of Jase is so forward. And offended at the same time. Every word out of his mouth is a cliche or an insult. On the other, I don't care for how amenable and submissive Chloe is to Jase and his lack of respect for women. There’s no happy medium here.
There’s very little in the way of a story aside from all the raunchy dialogue. Maybe there's hope for this series to become more than a supposed offshoot of Fifty Shades of Gray and other similar reads. No matter. I’m stopping the bleeding here. This series is NOT FOR ME.
I read both books because they were short and thus quick reads for me and book 1 ended in a cliffhanger.
Overall, there was not much in the way of plot and the characters (minus the main character) had no depth or character development beyond face value. The sex scenes were pure smut as the minimal plot was there just to get to the next sex scene. I like well rounded and full characters and full on plot with my sex scenes, so spicy and not smutty.
If full on smut, minimal plot, minimal character development, etc are your thing then these are the books for you.
