Tori wants nothing to do with the gorgeous, sand planet barbarians. Too bad she’s stuck with the cockiest Dothvek alive.

Stowing away on the enemy ship to sabotage it may not have been Tori’s best idea, but she meant for it to be a solo mission. She never planned for a huge Dothvek warrior to come along for the less-than-pleasant ride. And why did it have to be Vrax, the arrogant barbarian who gets under her skin so much? When he gets captured and offloaded to an alien slave market, she knows she can’t leave him behind. But can she save him from the notorious slavers and get back to her crew on the sand planet?

Vrax can’t explain his need to protect the fierce bounty hunter. She certainly doesn’t welcome his help, although her protests only seem to add fuel to his fire. When he’s taken to an alien city known as the Den of Thieves, he fears he may never see her or his home ever again. Especially when he’s purchased by a madam who has very specific plans for the hunky warrior.

This standalone action-romance novel features a tough, independent heroine; a gorgeous, sand planet barbarian warrior; action-packed battles; and steamy scenes in the Den of Thieves.

If you like hot alien warriors, enemies to lovers, and fated mates romance with a happily ever after, you’ll love "Torment", the third book in Tana Stone’s sci-fi romance Barbarians of the Sand Planet series.

I love sexy aliens and independent heroines. I grew up on Star Trek: Next Generation and Star Wars (and I adore them equally). My favorite superhero is Thor (with Aquaman a close second because, well, Jason Momoa), my favorite dessert is key lime pie (okay, fine, all pie), and I still lament the loss of Firefly.

I live in North Carolina in the US and have one husband, two teenagers, and two neurotic cats. I sometimes wish I could teleport to a holographic space station like the one in my tribute brides series (or maybe vacation at the oasis with the sand planet barbarians). :-) When I'm not writing, I love to paddleboard, dive, travel, and read obsessively!

Love in a dangerous place!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💚🖤💙💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😳☺️🤫😍

The heroine: Torie - After nearly being raped on a bounty hunter ship where she previously worked, Torie joined an all female bounty hunting crew. After picking up their last bounty they were boarded by a rival bounty hunter and his crew, who then sabotaged their ship and stranded them on a primitive sand planet. After the rival hunters figured out the bounty they were after was actually a woman and that the women still had her, they came to the sand planet, destroyed the women’s ship and tried to capture the bounty, killing her in the process.

The Hero: Vrax - Vrax was a Dothvek warrior. He and Torie didn’t get along from the beginning but he admired how fierce she was and how she fought for her friends. So when Torie snuck on to the rival space ship to get revenge after seeing they killed Max, he followed her to keep her safe.

The Story: Torie and Vrax hide in the ventilation ducts of the ship while trying to figure out how to overpower and kill the crew, though they are discovered and he makes sure Torie is hidden away while he is taken captive. He ends up in a slave auction on a planet known as the “Den of Thieves” where they get into some dangerous situations.

This series has been good so far and every one I have read has a different storyline which I have enjoyed, so they are not all replica’s of each other with different characters. Though the characters in this one were sort of dumb to sneak on to a ship full of bad guys with big weapons. It is no surprise that they end up in trouble.

I find it funny in books like these when the two main characters are in the middle of escaping a dangerous situation and they stop to get intimate with each other. I just can’t get into that. I keep thinking why don’t they wait until they are in a safe place before getting together like that. But some people must like it because authors always seem to put scenes like that into the mix.

I liked Torie in the last two books because she is strong and a warrior and always willing to fight for what she wants. She was that in this book also but she was a bit annoying because she is determined to taken as an equal to any man and has a bee in her bonnet about it. It is all well and good to be a feminist and women are definitely as good as men in different ways, and some are better warriors than many men. But it gets annoying when the feminism is so entrenched that the female doesn’t even like things like men opening doors for them, thinking it means they think the woman lesser, when in fact they are just being a gentlemen.

Like the first two books, the narration was great. I love it when there is dual narration within every chapter and can’t say enough about that since I just hate it when the male narrator has to do female voices and vice versa. Tristan Josiah and Sierra Grace did the narration and they were both very good.

Tori was a bitch. It was hard to get past her bad attitude, recklessness, and sharp teeth. Eww. Not to mention, she didn't show that much gratitude to the multiple people, including Vrax, who saved her or risked themselves to help her. I was irritated when she changed plans on stealing the ships. What if the boy who helped them escape climbed on board- assuming Tori was still on the bounty hunters' ship? She's lucky she didn't get him killed.

I didn't get how the bad guys didnt recognize that their ship was being sabotaged. I also couldn't see how they believed Vrax was alone and bought his story. Dummies.

Story was ok. I liked the first 2 books better and I look forward to the next one.

I believe these 📚books, although they are part of a series, can each be read as stand alone. Author Stone📚 does enough back story explaining so that reading the 📚books in order isn't really necessary.
Great 🌎world building, action, and descriptions make the books outstanding for this ADULT Sci-fi Romance genre.

Not much meat on this bone

This was an ok story. Feisty bada$$ heroine and barbarian warrior in a love-hate relationship stow way on a rival bounty hunter's ship with revenge in mind. I just got tired of the constant bickering. Tori and her Dothvek warrior come from different worlds, see the world in completely different ways, and don't communicate their differences at all. They just snark, snipe, and continuously misunderstand each other. After a few chapters, it isn't funny or clever anymore, it's just sad and irritating. The action part of this action romance is neglectfully underdeveloped, so there isn't much there either. It's always too sad when a decent author imagines a good story and then doesn't follow through. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved this series. The stories are interesting. There's more story than sex, but the sex is hot. There's a lot of action and drama. Each story is different and they're not cookie cutter. There is an overall arc. And the series doesn't go on forever though I would have liked a little more.

At the moment I am jumping between genres and have been on a sci fi need sampling many authors work. I came across this author after one of my friends read some of her work and am not disappointed. I love that anything goes when reading sci fi and that is what Tana gives readers. The Barbarians of the Sand Planet and is a steamy sci fi romance series as are her other series. This books sees an all female bounty hunter team travelling across galaxies but put out of action by another group. Crash landing on a planet that is nothing but sand for miles and miles. I really like Tana's writing and her characters are totally believable. There is fun, action and so much more between the pages.
If you are a lover of sci fi with sexy aliens and hot romance you will love Tana's work

Good. Tori and Vrax

Tori is vicious and when you meet her former employer you understand why. She was an indentured servant. The crew was awful. Morax and his thugs were not much better. Brad followed Tori to keep her safe. He argues with her. He tries to protect her. They get into one awful mess after another. But you really get to like them both.

Love this series! Very engaging, imaginative and smexy!

DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE PREVIOUS STORIES, OTHERWISE IT WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS

I find this series to be a highly entertaining and engaging distraction from reality. It has lots of action, twists, turns, and most importantly attraction and love.

This is not a stand-alone story; each story should be read in series order for maximum reader satisfaction. There are reoccurring characters and an overall storyline arc. Each story focuses on a couple and how they found their way to their HRN.

This story is no different and begins where the last ends, with Tori and Vrex boarding Mourad’s ship to get revenge for the death of a crew mate. In my previous reviews I provided the background and how the stories begin. But as we get further into the series, it is more difficult to provide as I would be providing a lot of spoilers.

This is the forth book & an excellent addition to the series. I enjoyed reading this fascinating, adventurous alien-barbarian romance & it can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the series to obtain the maximum enjoyment of the underlining story. The plot is well-paced & interesting with some completely unexpected situations. It has good scene descriptions & world building. The characters are strong-willed individuals & likeable with unique personalities that have good chemistry between them but are inclined to be confrontational.
There is: a female bounty hunter (Tori) bent on revenge decides to stow away on rival bounty hunters (Mourad) ship only to discover that a Dothvek warrior (Vrax) is there too but he is captured & sold to a twisted madam (Meridia) with devious plans in mind but regretfully for the madam Tori has no intentions of leaving Vrax there & rescues him but somehow along the way in the attempt to escape from the planet they pick up a street child (Ryann) & the adventure continues, various kinds of aliens, bounty hunters, action, adventure, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, vengeful feelings, discovery, danger, threats, enemies, a Thieves Den, slave auctions, fighting pits, abduction, determination, protectiveness, confrontations, anger, jealousy, friendship, mates, happiness, contentment, some steamy scenes & very tantalizing epilogue paving the way for the next book in the series.

Vrax follows Tori, a fiery bounty hunter, onto an enemy ship as she stows away to get revenge. He is unable to figure why he so fiercely wants to protect her, especially when she doesn’t want or even seem to need his help. But when he gets captured and taken to an alien slave market, he fears he may never see Tori or his world again. The sexy Dothvek is purchased by a madam who has plans for the warrior’s use – so Tori knows she can’t leave him behind now.

I enjoyed the writing style of the author and Vrax was my favorite kind of character with his skill, courage, and humor. The pacing worked well with the events occurring throughout the story line, keeping the reader “pumped up” and excited at where the story would plunge next. Grab your copy and see if Tori can rescue Vrax from his captive fate! And if maybe they can figure out the chemistry between them!

I've loved this entire series, and this book was just as terrific, if not better than the previous adventures. Vrax is my favorite Dothvek hottie, even all the others are yummy too. And Tori really grew on me in this book. It's not like I didn't enjoy her before, but somehow I didn't relate to her very well until seeing her mind work during this adventure. She really is loyal and caring deep down. This book ends in a sfn situation, and I can't wait to read what happens next.

I received a free copy of Torment, but that did not affect my review.

Another well written story in this series. I missed reading the second book so I had to piece together what happened to Danica's bounty hunting crew. This story is about Tori and Vrax and it was a very enjoyable read. There is the budding romance along with the drama and plenty of action which kept me engage till the end. I also liked Tori's character from the first book which introduced her and you grow to like Vrax as they become a couple in this Alien romance. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via Booksprout.

This story here is absolutely deliciously fantastic. The storyline is good and the characters are fabulous. What an imagination to create all these worlds and different people/aliens but who is the alien where?? Just fantastic to read and of course the +21 scenes do not ruin anything either... So fantastic five stars for this story.

This is Tori and Vrax's story, and although it could probably be read as a standalone, I'd recommend reading the rest of the series as a background as it does follow on from the previous one.
I really love this series and this book was no exception, with a great storyline full of adventure, action and suspense. The writing is great and really draws you into the world of these characters.

Book three of the Barbarians of the Sand Planet series, this series just gets better with each new book. This is Tori and Dothvek warrior Vrax's story. WOW! What a tense, suspenseful book. It reminded me of Murphey’s Law: Anything that can go wrong, will. With no thought other sneaking on a rival’s spaceship to get revenge, Tori had no idea on how to go about accomplishing her goal. And Vrax who followed her to protect her, had no idea if it was even possible to save this combative, stubborn human warrior.

Love it!

I couldn’t imagine being stuck on a criminal planet and having to deal with slavers. It seems like almost everything bad that could have happened did, but in the end they were able to work together to get out of some sticky situations. Really glad these two rough warriors found each other.

This novel was well written and edited, with few typos that I caught in the ARC version of this manuscript. The world building in this novel was excellent, with The Thieves Den coming to vibrant life in this novel. The characterization was also really well done in this novel, with both the hero and heroine being distinct, sympathetic individuals. The development of the romantic relationship between these two characters was fairly natural and organic, which is impressive for a romance this length with so many adventure elements to the plot. The plot and pacing of this novel was complex and exciting, with these two characters having non-stop adventures and complications to their mission of being able to go home to the sand planet. There was almost no angst in this novel, but the stakes felt very high, with both hero and heroine almost getting killed multiple times. This novel uses the Fated Mates trope and the Dothvek series uses the Mars Needs Women trope throughout the series. The plot, pacing, and world building of this novel rates four stars, with the characterization and development of the romantic relationship also rating four stars, for a combined score of four stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, which all the novels I have read by this author do, so that is a major recommendation to read this author. I recommend this romance to readers who enjoy sci-fi romances with alien heroes and a distinct space opera feel. I think I am going to buy myself a keeper copy of this novel, and probably go back and buy keeper copies of the previous books in this series. Each subsequent novel keeps getting better than the one before!

Steamy and suspenseful plus all the fun banter

I loved Tori and Vrax’s alien romance with a side of vengeance. Tori is a Zevrian, an alien warrior that works on a ship with all female human bounty hunters. Their ship was forced by another bounty hunter ship to crash on a primitive planet that has not had a lot of interaction with other species. Vrax, a native of the sand planet is a Dothvek and an empath. While dealing with danger on the planet along with her teammates and the Dothveks, Tori and Vrax bicker with each other constantly. The sexual tension and fun banter is wonderful. When the bad bounty hunters return to the planet and kill one of her crew, Tori reacts impulsively and stows away on their ship to seek revenge and Vrax follows her into the ship. While hiding on the ship and enacting their revenge, the danger heats up along with their attraction. To get to their HEA they’ll have to battle all the bad guys, steal a ship, and try to get back to the Dothvek planet all the while dealing with Tori’s past baggage. The story includes all the yummy goodness that you’d expect from this genre - sweet moments, steamy scenes, fighting, dangerous situations, alien physiology and cultures, evil actors, henchmen, loyal friends, tragic back stories, fated mates, coincidences, plot twists, and laughs. I love a book with a sexy alpha hero but I especially love one that includes a sexy, smart heroine as well rather than a damsel in distress. And Tori is as fierce as Vrax. I will definitely be reading more of this series especially since it ended on a bit of a cliffhanger for one of Tori’s crew mates.

I have to say, I really enjoyed reading this book. The first one didn't really do it for me, but it was entertaining enough to get me to read the rest of this series.

I love Tori and Vrax together. I knew since the second book that they would become a couple. They drove one another crazy.

I enjoyed reading his devotion to and love for her. The story was pretty good. I do have to admit that I'm still not quite sure what the hot Dothvek men really look like. Do they look like extremely tall Dothraki warriors with pointy ears and spikes or something? The men on the covers look human.

Also, I know romance isn't supposed to involve hygiene and shit, but COME ON! They had to stink seven shades in the wind (is this a thing, LOL!) and they STILL get it on! She gave him a blow job... that must have tasted horrible! I do wish the author would keep hygiene in mind because they only showered ONCE in this book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read to escape, doesn't matter if the book makes sense or not. The story itself is entertaining. The author gets an enthusiastic thumbs up from me.

I do think the sex scenes between all the characters and all three books were kind of the same. These two liked it rough, which was slightly different. I'm curious about book four.

Oh, I wanted to deduct a star for the typos and the fact that 'Kurril' was often referred to as 'Zurril'... but I'll let it slide for once. I'm in a good mood today, y'all. :-)
