Rate this book
In 1924 Quebec, Laurette Gauthier, after a summer working as a maid for a wealthy couple, is unfairly dismissed. Desperate and embarrassed, she's at a loss until Maurice, an old friend who's smitten with her, steps in and marries her. However, seven months later, Laurette gives birth to a daughter, Huguette, and rumors about the timing of the baby's conception start to spread. Years later, as Maurice lies dying, he begs Laurette to reveal the truth about that fateful summer, a truth that could shatter their happiness.

C'est une première que je lit de cet auteur. J'ai beaucoup aimé. Les romans historiques nous font voir les façons de vivre de différentes époques et nous font comprendre la vie de nos descendants.
