James His role in the world’s most famous movie rocketed him into the spotlight over twenty years ago, but today it’s the only thing people remember him for. In New York City for a fan convention, all James can see are reminders of his failed career and marriage. Then, fortune puts him in the path of another lost soul. James is straight, so how can he be feeling this way about another man—especially one so much younger than him? But the heat he feels for Alan can’t be denied… Could this be what he’s been looking for?
Alan A former office-worker suffering from a quarter-life crisis, Alan dropped everything to search for the passion sorely missing in his life—but now that he’s actually in NYC, he has no idea where to even begin looking. Enter James. Charming, sophisticated, adventurous—everything Alan isn’t. Not to mention he’s a movie star. It doesn’t matter how right it feels, how could it ever work? With only four days to spend together in a city far from home, how can Alan convince James—and himself—that this is what they both need?
Silver Star is a May-December MM romance full of sweet moments, plenty of heat and low angst. A Hollywood happily-ever-after guaranteed!
James is more or less a washed-up movie star after staring in a hit sci-fy movie. He has been in an unhappy marriage for years - both him and his wife not satisfied; his wife only wanting him for his money. James decides to attend a comic con type event in New York, for this hit movie he starred in 20 years earlier. There he meets Alan; an accountant who just quit his job after his boyfriend broke up with him for being boring and unadventurous. The two men end up staying in adjacent hotel rooms and quickly become friends. Alan is drawn to James from the start and he's worried about blurring the lines between friendship and romance, but maybe James might be willing and eager to give him a try.
MAY BE SOME SPOILERS! I didn't care for this novel. Frankly, I found myself getting bored - I did not feel there was much spark or even connection between James and Alan. It was more close - proximity that started their whole friendship. It was also hard to understand because I feel that you'd have to be a very outgoing person to just randomly connect with a person in a manner of a couple of days. I also was somewhat confused by the relationship James had with his wife. It seems they really haven't had an emotional relationship for years but I would have liked to know that they were separated or something prior to James even remotely thinking about moving on with someone else. I also was very disappointed in the ending. I felt that there was no conclusion, it was just a blanket statement with potential for more. So, honestly I wouldn't recommend this book.
Silver Star is a sweet and fun sexual awakening romance by Cody Ryder.
A mix of an unhappy Hollywood actor, an unhappy marriage, and comin out, this one has a lot to enjoy. And, omg, as a fan of actor conventions, I just fell into this book hook, line, and sinker.
This is a story that includes bi-curiosity and first gay kisses, along with a whole lot of soul searching. Both men are seeking what's missing from their lives. They meet at a hotel and a friendship is formed.
If you have a problem with cheating however, skip this one, as one of the men is married, although it's a very unhappy marriage.
The writing is wonderful, with well developed characters despite the short length. I never felt anything was missing, and I fell in love with these two men who just need to grab onto love and change when it's right.
Silver Star is an insta love story with a HFN ending. It's a story of hope and change, that just left me happy. This Cody Ryder gem is a short, quick, easy read that is both tender and sweet.
I received a free copy of this story in exchange for an honest review
It is an story about a moviestar, that notices something is missing in his life and goes to an commicon what he normaly wouldn't do to sign autogramms from a role that he played ages ago. At the same time a young gay man leaves all behind him to travel to find himself or what adventure ever might be on his way. Both meet over a funny moment in the same hotel and they start to spend time together. With this they notice that there is something between them that is special. The story shows so many aspects of emotions that you are not able to lay it aside till you read the last word and then BAM. As much as I know that there must be a second book in which they both come together in a HEA in that moment I thought 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO' this much Cody Ryder got me into this story. I think it is a must to read it and to hope the next book for them comes out soon
James, an older, famous, straight, married man meets Alan, a young, gay, out-of-work accountant, and sparks fly.
James was a movie star from L.A., known mainly for one very famous cult movie he had starred in 20 years earlier. Alan was an accountant who gave up his boring 9 to 5 job in L.A. to travel and bring some excitement to his life. Both of them were temporarily in New York, staying in the same hotel, and over the course of a weekend, they fell in love. But James' life was back in L.A., and Alan had just gotten away from the boredom of his life in L.A. How could they manage to pursue a relationship when their lives were so different?
This started off with potential, but ultimately fell short for me. For one, the blurb made it sound like James was divorced not that he was still married. However stuck you are in a marriage, cheating on your spouse ain’t it. I don’t care that the spouse has been cheating and you’ve become indifferent to it, found your backbone and end that relationship before deciding to sleep with someone else. It’s all about self respect and self worth for me with that.
Then the ending wasn’t even an HFN. It felt like the story was JUST starting only for it to end in that manner? I don’t know. This one just wasn’t for me.
James, star, married, stuck in his life now there's Alan accounting left boyfriend his job because he was stuck Theses two collide in New York,,,well they end up next door to each other and it starts from there ,,,it is a well written book ,the cheating i could do without, but the end of the book there is not a normal HEA at the end, I wanted to read more when and if there together or what happens if they see each other again. I read this book for my honest review from this author
Two guys searching for happiness and they found it days they were together. James is a star, married in the closet and unhappy. Alan is gay, gave up his career to pursue his dream and travel. They fell in love The book is short, sweet, romantic, some angst and loved the fact that James encouraged Alan to pursue his dream.
