S. Ramakrishnan
(Tamil: எஸ்.ராமகிருஷ்ணன்; born 1966)

is a noted Tamil author and Tamil film dialogue writer. He was born in Mallankinaru, Virudhunagar district, Tamil Nadu.

Ramakrishnan is noted for his column Thunai Ezhuthu in the magazine Ananda Vikatan. His short stories have been translated in German, French, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

His other works include Kadhaa Vilaasam, Desaandri, and Alainthen Tirindhen.

S.Ramakrishnan combines nostalgia with an elder's concern for the younger generation in this collection of essays whose undercurrent is travels across India. It is the former which sizzles while the later fizzles out into mere preaching.

Felt a bit bored on reading 4+ novels in Tamil n English during when I came across this book.
I did not have any opinion about the author S. Ramakrishnan apart from the reading few of his work in Ananda Vikatan.

We all like to travel new places. But the experience each one of us get differs based on numerous factors like the people we meet, climate and time, expectation, etc.

Here the author shares his travel experience with us through various people he met. He takes us on a tour from nearby villages to the farthest continents, from present to the pre historic ages. You will find references to various authors, books, movies throughout the chapters, which will give you a deeper insight.

Not everything spoken in the chapters needs to be immediately understood. Few, you might have experienced already, and await the others.

I felt thankful to the life, and felt connected to the world even better after this book. Hope you get even better experience out of it. So get ready to travel back and forth in time!

இருவேறு மரங்கள் தங்களை ஒப்பிட்டுக்கொள்வது இல்லை, மனிதர்கள் மட்டும் ஏன்.
நாமும் இயற்கையும் ஒன்று தான்,
இயல்பாக இருக்க புரிந்து கொள்வதும், இயற்கையுடன் கைகோர்க்கும் ஒரு தாரக மந்திரம்,
மகிழ்ச்சி என்பது எங்கோ இல்லை இங்கு இன்று உன்னுடன் தான் இருக்கிறது...

இவை அணைத்தும் பயணத்தில் கிடைக்கும் அனுபவமென்றால், அதை பயணம் செய்த எழுத்தாளரின் எழுத்து மூலம் பெறுவது பெரிய அனுபவம்.
