When Aunt Candace is nominated for a literary award, Rory and her family are thrilled that the library is chosen to host the ceremony. But the night ends in disaster when the organiser of the event turns up dead.
Needless to say, since the group of suspects all write about murders for a living, finding the culprit will be tricky. With her best friend also dealing with her newfound vampire nature and her dad's secrets on the brink of coming to the surface, Rory has her work cut out. Can she find the culprit among the guests before another victim is claimed?
Elle Adams lives in the middle of England, where she spends most of her time reading an ever-growing mountain of books, planning her next adventure, or writing. Elle's books are humorous mysteries with a paranormal twist and tons of magical mayhem.
She also writes urban and contemporary fantasy novels as Emma L. Adams.
The Merry Mysteries Award is going to be held at the library and with insufficient beds in town several writers are staying in the guest wing.
There's much competition, lots of bickering between the contestants, and when the winner is announced still more bickering and arguing.
The Biblio witches leave the writers to their party and depart for bed without realising that they are leaving the guests to create a whole new world of trouble.
The following morning Winona, who presented the award, is found dead in her bed when Xavier turns up to reap her soul.
Chaos ensues, as they try to discover who killed Winona. Was it Betsy who was so angry she didn't win, could it be Tiffany who won much to her own surprise, or maybe Haylee or Alana the runners up or even Beverly who appears to be every writers biggest fan?
When Steve decides that they must stay until he's finished investigating chaos ensues in the library as they object to staying longer and continue with the whole bickering thing.
The answer when it comes is confusing and difficult to really get behind. Needed to be much clearer as it seemed that there were a lot of assumptions about Winona not bearing any blame for the publishing fiasco when it would have made a lot more sense if she'd been involved in the fraud and escaped blame. There were some rather big leaps in reaching the answer.
The Merry Mystery Awards are being held at the library, and Rory's Aunt Candace is nominated for an award. When one of the attendees turns up dead, all fingers start to point to the writers in attendance, and Rory sets about to solve the crime with a little help from her family and friends.
I started listening to this series last year as I had finished Nancy Warren's Great Witches Baking Show Mysteries, narrated by Hollis McCarthy, and I wanted more mysteries to listen to from the same narrator. I love Hollis' narration and I instantly got hooked on this series.
I don't want to spoil too much for the previous books, but let's just say this is another great instalment in this series. Rory has her cousin, Estelle, and best friend, Lainey, by her side and together they all set about trying to solve the mystery.
The series has an ongoing story involving Rory's father's journal, and for this reason I would recommend starting at the first book and not jumping in mid-way. I will say though that once you start, you won't want to stop!
Wraiths & Writers is superb on audio. Hollis McCarthy's narration is first class, and with her engaging voices you won't want the story to end! Thankfully she's narrated all the mysteries in this series and I can't wait to pick up the next one and see what Rory and her family get up to next.
The library is chosen as the place to host an event when Aunt Candace is nominated for a literary award. But things go wrong when the host is found dead the following morning. Rory has a lot on her plate but is pulled into the investigation. There are a lot of suspects, can she help find the killer before it's too late?
I've really enjoyed this series and this book is a great read for the most part. However, there were several grammatical errors and typos throughout that took away from the story for me and I was left wanting a bit more from the book especially when it comes to the journal. Otherwise, it was a quick, fun read. I do recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.
Wraiths & Writers is Book 7 in the Library Witch Series by Elle Adams. I love this series and this latest installment was fantastic!
Aunt Candace is up for an author award and the library is hosting the ceremony. Things turn terrible when the person in charge of the even is murdered. Meanwhile Rory is trying to read her father's journal, but with a murderer staying in the library she doesn't get much time. Add to that her best friend Laney still getting used to being a vampire, this story is chock full of action and excitement. There are few twists I didn't see coming.
The romance between the Grim Reaper and Rory is moving along nicely.
This was a well written story with wonderful unique characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
Rory and the family allow Aunt Candace to offer the Library as host location for a prize ceremony for a group of authors. When murder is the unexpected bonus prize, the guests have to stay all weekend to find the motive, the method, and the guilty party. To complicate matters even more, brand new vampire Laney (Rory’s best friend), gets caught up in the investigation, drawing the unwelcome attention of Evangeline, leader of the town’s vampires. The story has twists and turns galore, keeping the reader busy trying to decipher what is true and what is a red herring. Well written and intriguing from beginning to end.
Entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. With a great cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. A family of library witches. A magical library in a magical town is run by a family of witches who use Biblio magic as well as magic wands to perform magic. The two older sisters as well as their daughters and nieces run the library. With a couple of familiar‘s to assist them. A crazy Owl a crow and a small pixie/Imp. Sometimes the familiars cause as much trouble as they help. Follow long as they solve murders mysteries and other troubles in their town. Very entertaining and fun to read. Check it out
Wraiths & Writers is the 7th book in the Library Witch cozy mystery series. This is an enjoyable book and series. Aurora (Rory) has joined her 2 Aunts and 2 cousins in running a magic library. The best things about this book are the character, family ties, friendship, and the magic library. In this book, Aunt Candace invites a group of writers to the library. The writers are competing for a literary award including Aunt Candace. The organizer of the event ends up dead. There are a lot of secrets to sort through. Rory, her Vampire friend Laney, and her family need to get to the bottom of the murder. This series continues to be enjoyable. #Wraiths&Writers
Aunt Candace is nominated for a writer's award and the ceremony will be at the library. Ordinarily probably a good thing. Except for the dead body and a major question about which road Laney will pursue.
Her father's journal can now be translated. Unfortunately she doesn't seem to be putting a great deal of effort into doing that quickly.
Evangeline may be causing problems. The wraith is loose. Cass is becoming a hermit with her animals.
A lot of things going on but the main thing to me is what path Laney is going to follow in relationship to the vampires.
This was a very fun insight into some mystery author shenanigans. I love books that involve a writers' retreat theme, as there are a lot of eye-opening tidbits readers can find out about the industry. Rory continues to struggle to have a relationship with Zavier, and Laney the vampire struggles to hone her mind-reading skills. This series always leaves me with a positive feeling, as the comradery between Rory and her family members is very cozy and comfortable to me. And of course, the magical library and crazy familiars are wonderful to spend time with.
Aunt Candace is up for a book award so they decided to have the awards at the library. Once the people start arriving the ,ibrary gets over run with guests! Rory's friend Laney, a new vampire, had a hard time with all the peoples thoughts. Uh oh another murder on their hands Will Rory and her family protect the library and find the murderer? The story flows smoothly with a lot of plot twists
Thanks for another enjoyable read, Elle Adams! Rory and most of the characters are as charming as ever, and Candace, Cass, and Sylvester are still reliably irritating. The mystery is intriguing and I love the deft way it circles back on itself. And Laney is a wonderful addition to the cast; she brings several opportunities for tension to the storyline. Anyone who enjoys a well-written paranormal cozy will find this series a real treat.
Rory best friend, Laney, is now a vampire. Unfortunately, Rory is a major vampirephobe. Will she be able to overcome her prejudices to help Laney move in with her life? Plus, two murders in the library, for Rory to solve.
Adams latest library whodunnit is another winner! I commend it to your attention.
Aunt Candace is nominated for a writing award and the awards ceremony is to be held at the library. Everything is going fine until there is a murder.... This story is great, includes all the usual characters plus a few new additions. Loved it and highly recommend it. Off to read the next in series now.
Aunt Candace is up for Merry Mysteries Award and the ceremony is being held at the library. Laney is learning to control her new skills and Rory is trying to find time to read her dad's journal. Cass has made friends with the book wealth now they just need to get through the award ceremony without any mishaps.
It took a while to get into this story. Binge reading a series has never been my ideal way of reading. I think I’m going to take a few weeks off before jumping into the next story.
The Library is holding a best author sort of contest. The winner is not well liked and individuals related to the contest start dying…by poison!
I have been reading this series up until now and I can't wait to start on the next book! I feel like I personally know each character. I find myself thinking about what I read and try to solve the problems. lol You will quickly find your way into a new life when you read this series!!!
what a great story, its a writing contest and some of the best show up at the library to see if they win the award. When the person who gives out the award ends up dead from poisoning everyone is a suspect, then another person dies... whats going on , the the wraith excapes.. oh no , read the book to find out more...
Like the Valentine's Day book, this one was less bad than most of the rest of this series... I think because I liked the concept, which was "murder mystery set at murder mystery author award ceremony". It was still terrible and full of inconsistencies and nonsense though, but at least I enjoyed the random asides about writing.
Elle writes grownup fairytales that are clever, clean and an enjoyable escape from reality. The characters are sweet, the plots are fun and twisty. Well done!
I am usually a big fan of the “Library Witch Mystery” series however with this book I feel the plot was weak, the story rushed and it wasn’t Ms. Adams best attempt. I am hoping for better with the next in series.
This book is full of non-stop misdirection and magical mayhem! Rory's sister plays a larger part in this book and the results are amazing! I read this all in one go and will have trouble sleeping as the action repeats in my dreams. A most entertaining story.
Another wonderful story from this author. I am so hooked on this series. The characters and story line are great and the world created is fantastic. This was another one that I couldn't out down. Highly recommend
Another great instalment from Elle Adams. The twists and turns within the plots keep coming which keeps the reader guessing as to who has done what. Looking forward to the next book.
I stumbled upon this series and now I can't stop reading it. The books are fun, light, and easy to read. They are nice to read in between heavier books. The story line definitely keeps you wanting more.
I have really enjoyed the series so far but I just couldn’t get into this one! I was bored, something about Lainey is just super unappealing and annoying to me so I couldn’t wait to finish, almost a DNF for me.
When her Aunt Candace is nominated for a literary award they decide to hold the ceremonies at the library. But when one of the visitors is found dead they have to investigate which one among them is the killer.
This series has a cast of eclectic characters that's written with Ronald imagination. This book seems like its drawn out a bit too long with information that twin
