This is an interesting mail order bride story with a cast of strong characters. The author brings Sarah and Bobby together when she wants to get away from her father and he's looking for a mother for his child. They face many obstacles along their journey to finding love. I enjoyed reading their story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This book kept me on the edge all the way threw it. Sarah is a young lady being abused by her father and brothers in New York. She want her own family to love and love her as she has only been loved by her mother, who has died many years ago. So she becomes a mail order bride, marrying a stranger was better the being abused. So Sarah runs away to Oklahoma, to Bobby. Bobby is a rancher and father. He is looking for a mother for his daughter so we’re marrying for convenience not for love. With the tornado just about destroying the ranch, to the appearance of Sarah’s, father and brothers. Her father demanding money to her father shooting his own son. This was a very well written and did keep you one your set threw out the book. Very enjoyable.
The premise was good, but poorly executed. There were so many things wrong with this book, it is difficult to know where to begin. There was Bobby's miraculously fast recovery from being gouged by a tree limb during a tornado. Or people willing to give Sarah hundreds of dollars..a fortune at the time..on two occasions. Or the entire fight at the end. Neither the characters, not the situations seemed real. The male characters either sounded like teens, or were over-the-top bad guys. I am certain the author had no personal knowledge of men who worked on a farm or ranch.
She answers a mail order bride ad to get away from her criminal father. The man she goes to needs a mother for his daughter. He doesn't know about what is going on with her father as she does not tell him. He starts to fall in love with her and all heck breaks loose with bad people and situations. Will he forgive her so their relationship goes forward. Twists and turns, danger, intrigue, emotional situations. excitement and so much more. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Will trust be found? First you have a father who is a criminal, to get away you become a mail-order bride to someone you do not know. Then there is the fear your father in some way could hurt or bring unhappiness to your new life or new family. This is Sarah's challenge yet this strong-willed and courageous young woman sets out to meet the challenge head-on. Bobby and Samantha were such great characters and such heartwarming characters. Grace Clemens is proving to be one of the better western historical writers I have read. This is a book I highly recommend.
This story is about escaping the life you have been leading to a hope of a new one. I was disappointed in the cowardice of Sarah when she discovered that her family had found her. The ending was disappointing and tragic. You know forwarned and armed is better than being blindsided. Cowardice is not a trait I want in a spouse, but obviously Bobbie doesn't mind because his daughter loved Sarah. Bobbie deserves better from a woman than secrecy and cowardice.
Life is hard enough without the very people that are suppose to protect you being the biggest part of your problems. Grace Clemens brings us characters that are realistic to human nature, a story line that compels you to keep reading and the perfect blend of villainy, humor and romance. I enjoyed this book.
I enjoyed the story. The ending held a nice surprise of her having a good connection with he brothers. I was frustrated with the extended ending .... It leaves questions that I felt would of been nice to find out more about, so it left you hanging. Or is it your intention to write a series?
Sarah and her brothers, Danny and Bart were raised by an abusive, criminal, father. He was especially cruel to Sarah. Sarah escaped, and ran away to marry Bobby, who thought she was an orphan. Their journey to the truth was full of guilt, and danger. It was a very enjoyable story.
What an amazing read, I truly think it's more than 5 🌟's. I was so captivated that I caught myself dreaming about what could happen and about what happened. I hated when the book ended. I will say that I won't ruin this book for anyone, I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!
Historical romance full of wonderful moments and incredible characters. Sarah Donner's life hasn't always been easy since the passing of her Mother. She seeks an escape and decides to flee as a mail order bride and marry Bobby Huggins a rancher. You won't want to put this book down!
Wonderful mail order bride romance. Well written. Do not like extended epilogues. Having a paperwhite kindle, it is necessary to download from my computer. Plus, any author should be able to tell a 'complete' story in 80,000+ words.
Sarah runs away from a very abusive father and brothers in New York to be a mail order bride in Colorado. Bobby is a widower and father of a little 5 year old girl at his ranch. Sarah’s family comes after her and the action is up & running. Good story.
Loved this book! The characters were well developed. I loved how there are two epilogues. I would recommend this to anyone. I can’t wait to read other books by this author.
A good story about a good girl trying to get away from her family and their corrupt ways.she should have been more trusting and explained everything to Bobby from the beginning.
