Transformation

Rate this book
A wealthy socialite with a god-complex. A dare gone horribly wrong. When an evil curse shatters his reality, how will he put together the broken pieces of his former life?

As a high-born sea Nymph, the only life Finn has ever known is filled with wealth, adventure, and popularity. To fuel his need for attention, Finn takes on the most daring pranks under the ocean. But when his position in the spotlight is challenged by another Nymph, Finn ventures to the surface to secure his status as the most popular Nymph in Glimmerfalls.

Ignorant of the dangers that await him, Finn’s ego sends him into the belly of the wicked sea hag’s lair. But when Finn’s luck runs out and he faces the dreaded sea hag, her cursed magic changes him forever. Can Finn break free of the curse to return to the life he cherished, or will the curse claim him and render him another relic on the sea hag’s shelf?

Transformation is an origin story about one of the characters in the YA fantasy Ocean Academy series. If you love reading about magical mermaids, evil curses, and the price of popularity, then you’ll love Sarah Elizabeth’s side novella from the world of the Ocean Academy.

I found this book incredibly interesting. An oceanic world full of so many different classes. It’s an interesting take on culture of magical creatures and how different creatures are created not so equally, til you meet Rue. I have to say, while Finn is the main character, Rue is my favorite. She’s so kind hearted, and uplifting of a character. I’m eager to learn more about the different characters as this series continues. I enjoyed it very much and am ready to read book 1, seeing as this was .5. :) give it a try, it’s interesting from the start.

This is a really good book to teach young people about respecting different people or creatures. I was very impressed by Sarah Elizabeth excellent story about teaching Finn that he didn’t have the rights to belittle or abuse someone that is different or of a lower social status.

I highly recommend giving this book to anyone whether young or old that doesn’t know to respect others.

This is my honest review!

Could not put this book down! Great characters, fantastic story and incredible depiction of an underwater world that's fresh and exciting. The author explains everything so clearly and simply. I love a bit of mystery, adventure and magic, with some heartfelt/ feel-good moments. This book had everything. It reminded me of how beautiful and delicate ocean life is. Can't wait to see more from this author. I received a complimentary copy from Voracious Readers Only.

Transformation is an origin story about Finn, one of the beloved characters in the YA fantasy Ocean Academy series by Sarah Elizabeth. He teases this story throughout Secrets of the Past (Ocean Academy Year 1). Find out the secret of his past in this novella! If you love reading about magical mermaids, evil curses, and the price of popularity, then you’ll love this novella from the underwater world of Glimmerfalls. "This is a brilliant read ... well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with and wonderful world building. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the book with no monetary compensation.

This book added so much character depth to Finn. I was shocked to see how selfish and horrible he was to those not like him. I was actually angry reading this. But I came to understand why he changed. And what he meant when he talked to Coral about how he used to be. I love the new Finn. It was great getting his background and how he changed so much. I also like that his parents accepted him, Adaro and all. I wonder if his transformation will stay permanent or will Corals friendship and power help him become a Nymph again.

Transformation (Ocean Academy #0.5), my first read from author Sarah Elizabeth. I was given a Kindle copy of Secrets of the Past: Year 1 (Ocean Academy) & wanted to read this book before reading it. An entertaining & thought-provoking read which I read in one sitting. I eagerly look forward to reading Secrets of the Past: Year 1 (Ocean Academy) as well as more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

In this Ocean's Academy prequel we learn of Finn and his daring escapades.

Spoiled sea nymph Finn will do anything to be the center of attention, even visit the Sea Witch herself. The encounter doesn't go quite as planned and Finn is cursed to live as an Adaro. The Adaro are the half-human half-shark species that the sea nymphs look down on. Finn has one chance, 2 weeks to find the error of his ways or risk becoming an Adaro forever.

He is going to steal from the sea hag. he ends up cursed. Then he turns into something he despises. he has two weeks to find a solution. Does he? Yes.

An excellent read for young teens or the young at heart. It has a good moral story and shows there are consequences to your actions. I loved the characters and wanted to get to know them more. A great start to a new series. Of course Fen is my favorite character and he literally goes through a life changing experience.

What an exciting short story! It immediately pulls you in to the world beneath the waves and keeps your interest piqued. A great story with a good moral message for not only the youth of today, but everyone.
I liked that I could read the whole but in less than a day as I don't have a lot of spare time for reading these days.
In summary, this is a lovely adventure with a wholesome message.

I'm really loving this Ocean Academy idea that Sarah Elizabeth has given us. It's quite different than so many other stories I've read in my day and this book didn't let me down. Sarah gives us magical creatures as they go through their version of school life and problems. Transformation is the Prequel for the Ocean Academy Series and definitely a book you want to read first before the series!

I loved how this describes fin and how he became, it’s a wonderful addition to the ocean academy books . I definitely feel this should be read if you enjoyed the first book. It explains so much as to why fin acts the way he does and why he’s so sweet and nice and doesn’t act like the rest of the spoiled rich kids

There are several races of ocean folk. and Finn is one of the highest forms, a Nymph
He spends his days showing off to build his status. He breaks into the Hags land dwelling to steal something and gets caught. he is turned into a lower form, an Adaro. He spends time with the Adaros and learns the error of his ways in his previous life.
At he end he willingly stays an Adaro

To be honest, I was a bit irritated at the behaviour of the nymphs at the beginning chapters. It irritated me immensely. However, once I was able to get past those chapters, Flynn's adventure began to draw me in. Then, suddenly I was at the end of the book!

This book was short as it's a pre to the series, but it was so captivating! I loved it all. The change in Finn was astounding. I loved how he overcame himself and became a better person.

Saying I'm excited to read the series is a serious understatement. I can't wait!!

This is a short novella regarding the back story of Finn. During the first book of the Ocean Academy series, you see that Finn is different than the other Adaro she met. He had a highborn quality to him. I always wondered what happened. This was a great story because you were not only able to see how but why it was turned Adaro.

After everything he learns in this book, he has to decide does he go back to the life of an Adaro or return to being the highborn Nymph that he was. Even though we know he's an Adaro because we met him as one, I was excited all the way to the end of this book.

I don't usually use read the off main topic filler stories. However, I am glad I read this one.
