His Little Secret

Rate this book
Ripley has been in love with her step-uncle, Mase since he got out of prison. Though they’ve stalked each other with their eyes for a long time, they haven’t acted on their blistering attraction and the clock is starting to tick. Ripley is leaving for college next week and doesn’t want to go without quenching the hunger he’s stirred with his scarred biker hands and big, tattooed body. When she finds a mysterious number in his phone and calls it, she formulates a plan and sets it into motion. She’ll seduce Mase without revealing her true identity. Once they’ve been together, he’ll stop warning Ripley that she’s forbidden and they’ll finally be together.

Mase ought to be ashamed of himself, lusting after his brother’s much younger stepdaughter. But hell if he can help it. No, he can’t resist being drawn closer and closer to the flame, dying to get burned…and he finally does, duped into one night that did nothing to get the sweet redhead out of his system. Ripley is now pregnant with his child. But his outburst over being tricked has driven her away. Now he’ll move heaven and earth to get her back. To make her his forever.

My initial rating had been 4 stars but then I dropped it to 3 stars because what she did to him and then his response was both so messed and had me..

Definitely not Jessa Kane's best but it was enjoyable nonetheless!

This one was shorter then the first novella his prize pupil pretty steam and some drama.

We saw Ripleys plan in the last book she has been crushing on her step uncle (her mom remarried and now has Uncle Mase) both feel this sexual tension between the two but he pushes her away because he was locked up and shes young for him. So what does the idiot do? Goes to a brothel :/ yeah but Ripley knows this and signs herself up for Mase to take her. And he doesn't know at first its her. Yeah how? He doesn't? Like how can you noticed? wired even with a mask?
But when he finds out he acts alittle jerkish and that's what broke the camels back. Making Ripley run away and locking up her feelings. But another bomb dropped.. and its coming in 9 months. Now Mase needs to figure out how to get his woman to trust him and want him again.

I didnt enjoy the uncle parts. Its wired when ppls moan out that 🤣🤣🤣

No ow/om drama, no cheating, Drama, slight secondary charas, sexy times, virgin girl and no manwhore celibate

I picked up this little duology by Jessa Kane specifically for this second book, because HELLOOOO taboo trope I’ve never read before! I was curious.

The main characters Ripley (FMC) and Mase (MMC) are step-niece and step-uncle (no blood relation). Ripley knew Mase was the one for her almost instantly, and now, newly 18, is ready to actually pursue something romantically. Mase, because of the age-gap and his brother being her step-father, is obviously hesitant, but can’t seem to hold back his desire much longer.

I’m not really a fan of the fact that Mase knew Ripley since she was pretty much a kid, but that’s probably because I prefer age gap romances where both characters are over 20. But JK books are usually so easy to get through, so I carried on reading.

Also, the basic premise of this book is that Mase was planning to enact his desires for Ripley on another woman that looked like her in a sex club, to try and get his feelings once and for all. The woman ends up being Ripley, so there isn’t an OW scene, but I also don’t think Mase truly knew it was Ripley at the start of the spice because of her mask, so take that as you will.

I’ve read better books by JK, but this one was pretty quick and easy to get through, and was definitely a first for me!

3 stars

So I'm actually dropping this down from 4 stars to 3 stars, which was my initial rating. The reason is because after doing much thinking, I'm kind of disappointed in the love story between Ripley and Mase (Uncle Mase... step-uncle Mase).

I knew what Ripley planned on doing since I read His Prize Pupil first, but the fact that had me like:

description

And then she got the nerve to stay mad at him and in a way made him chase her, was just strange. But whatever.

It was still steamy and it was still overall a good read.

I consumed 3 Jessa Kane books yesterday. This wasn't my favorite, but it still did the trick.

This one was decent, but the pregnancy stuff was an issue for me. Just an FYI - you can't get pregnant the day before your period is due and you can't find out you are pregnant taking a test 5 days after sex.

But this still had a fun age gap, it was quick and dirty and really I can't complain.

"His Little Secret" is the story of Ripley and Mace.

Disappointing.

We've met these characters before in "His Prize Pupil". Now this step-uncle/ step-niece pair end up together in a story filled with obsession, deceit, hidden pregnancy, revelations, kink and HEA.

I found it underwheming and not as steamy as I expected it to be.

This one’s a fast, filthy ride but not quite my favorite. It’s forbidden (obviously), with Ripley and Mase tangled up in a step-niece/step-uncle dynamic (no blood relation, but still, you get the idea).
She’s just turned 18 and wastes zero time going after what she’s wanted for years, him. Mase, of course, is fighting it… sort of. There’s hesitance because of the age gap and family ties, but not enough to stop anything once the line is crossed.

The setup is wild: he literally goes to a sex club planning to get his obsession with Ripley out of his system by sleeping with someone who looks like her. Only twist? Yeah, it’s actually her. Mask on, lights low, and it takes a second for him to realize. No other woman scene, but the beginning of it might be murky for some.

It was hot, fast and definitely memorable. Just not one of my top Jessa reads. Still, if you’re into messy taboo chaos with zero room to breathe, this will hit the spot.

This was different from the usual Jessa Kane in that it felt like it was more story heavy than smut heavy.

Ridley has always had an eye for her uncle, not uncle Mase. Mase feels the same way. There’s some trickery that some might have a problem with, but our characters can’t keep their hands off each other.

MC, age gap, a little taboo.

The couple: Ripley and Mase

Romance genre: age-gap; mistaken identity; secret baby

Plot: Mase is Ripley's stepuncle (her stepdad's brother), and Ripley has a huge crush on him. He's a bit of a bad boy, and she likes that about him. She manages to trick him into having sex with her when he goes to a brothel. He's super mad, of course, and pushes her away. She ends up getting pregnant, and then they of course get back together and have their HEA.

Character development: Ripley was a little immature, but she is very young. Mase is in love with her, but has kept that a closely guarded secret. He makes a mistake when he is so mean to her while pushing her away. They do come together finally, as they seem to be pushing through some of those destructive tendencies.

Part of a series: Yes - there is a connected book about her friend

Grammar/formatting: no major issues

Would I read more from this author/in this series:

Cute story! Dirty, but cute. There's always a point in a Jessa Kane story where I want to hide my face and say, "OMG, OMG, really? You went there?!" :P I keep reading them though!

Another quick, really filthy forbidden romance by Jessa Kane. It was definitely steamy. I did like some parts, but the "uncle" unnecessary mentions were a bit too much for my liking. Yes we get it, now stop saying it every 5 minutes.

includes:
possessive hero/virgin heroine
forbidden step-uncle romance
age gap
ex con/mc biker
no drama/yes hea

His Little Secret by Jessa Kane

HERO - Mase. Ripley’s step-uncle. Owner of a custom bike shop, former MC member, and ex-felon. 6’4 with prison tattoos and knife scars. Long-ish black hair.

HEROINE - Ripley. Mase’s step-niece. Art school student studying ceramics. Long red hair.

OVERALL THOUGHTS - Note: This is the second of two companion novellas. The first was called His Prize Pupil and features Ripley’s best friend Alana and Mase’s best friend Gavin. They’re standalones, though, and can be read out of order if you choose.

First things first, you’re going to have to suspend disbelief before going into this novella. Yes, the heroine tricks the hero into having sex with her. Yes, the hero decides to go to a brothel to try and cure himself of the forbidden obsession he has for the heroine. The entire situation looks bad.

But...if you accept that the author’s intention was always for these two to end up together by any unconventional means necessary, I think you’ll be able to enjoy this story for the most part. Mase was never going to sleep with anyone else because the author wouldn’t let that happen. Mase even brought along a photo of Ripley to stare at because he can’t get it up any other way. It was always about the two of them, and he finds out pretty quickly that it’s her. If you find you’re still uncomfortable with that portion of the plot, I’d recommend you skip this one.

Mase thinks very highly of his brother’s stepdaughter, Ripley. She’s smart, creative, and is the only person who can make him laugh. It’s for all those reasons that he forces himself to stay away from her. Though she’s been extremely transparent about her feelings for him, he’s an ex-felon and feels he’ll only drag her down in life. Not to mention the little taboo of them being related by marriage. He wants the best for her in life and, in his opinion, he’s not it.

Ripley has spent the last four years teasing and tempting her stepfather’s brother. She has genuine feelings for him and doesn’t care about what he’s done in his past or what other people would think of them being together. She sees the good in him. However, a girl can only pursue for so long, be rejected so many times, before she has to retreat and rebuild her dignity. And after Ripley’s last stunt? Yeah, even she recognizes she’s gone too far.

I liked this one less than the first. The heroine wasn’t as charming, though that’s not to say she wasn’t likeable. The hero was a little too down on himself, though he was still an alpha male. There was more push/pull than I normally like which makes it a more frustrating read. And while I can put aside Mase visiting a brothel, it’s not the sort of story that I’d typically read, but it’s Jessa Kane and I know that I usually enjoy her writing.

Characters’ physical descriptions were pretty sparse in this one which I found strange since the companion novella took great care to describe the H/h. I also have the same issue with this one that I had with His Prize Pupil and that’s the friendships. Ripley’s and Alana’s got the briefest of attention while again, Mase and Gavin’s got zero. They may as well not even know each other considering they never interact in either story. I had hoped maybe we’d get a scene of all four of them in the epilogue, but nope.

The first time I read this I gave it 4 stars. Upon re-reading it right after His Prize Pupil, though, I'm demoting it to 3 stars because it simply doesn't rise to the level of its companion novella.

Disappointing...

I didn't like this story at all. He went to a brothel and ended up fucking the heroine (she tricked him) but he didn't know it was her at first so from his perspective he was popping someone else's cherry AND without a condom, yuck.

0.5✯

°Virgin heroine
°Hero was celibate after meeting the heroine but the intention of fucking someone else was there when he went to that stupid brothel
°Switching POVs
°Hero is 38, heroine is 18 (they met when she was 14)
°Stupid af coward hero
°Desperate pathetic heroine
°Free of OW/OM drama
°No cheating
°Pushing away from both
°Short separation
°Surprise baby
°Intimate scenes only between hero and heroine
°Epilogue: 1 week and 5 years later

I didn't like it. Don't ask me why I read it, I'm in the mood to read some smutty romances even though I don't usually read something like that but this book didn't work for me. I didn't read the synopsis of it and it turned out that it had all the tropes that I hate, age gap, forbidden, virgin heroine.

I knew after reading His Prize Pupil that I wanted to read this one. The two stories were very similar, short and sexy. I will say that I often found myself laughing and rolling my eyes to the interactions between Ripley and "Uncle" Mase. These two needed to get over themselves and just give in to what they were feeling. I liked that both of them finally did just that and went full speed ahead with their relationship.

I read His Prize Pupil before this one and was briefly introduced to Ripley and her plan for her step-uncle, Mase, at the brothel. I needed to read what went on with them. I love a sort of "forbidden" romance, especially if it involves an age-gap and step-family members.

Of course this author's books are far fetched and really over the top but I love them. Mase hadn't slept with a girl since he first met Ripley 4 years ago. In reality that would NOT be the case but I really loved it in this book. Mase was devoted to her even though she was underage. He waited 4 years to do anything and even then he tried to stay away from Ripley, though Ripley was not having that.

I enjoy these quick reads for a guaranteed HEA and this one was worth reading.
