Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
The hero Griff left his wife so she could be safe and away from his Seal past. But it didn't work. Someone still tries to kidnap them. Multiple times. Some of the decisions they made like going to the beach while people are trying to get them and other stuff they did just made me crazy. Plus they are an elite security team and former Navy Seals but they keep getting ambushed and I was like come on man! I wouldn't hire them. Just saying.
There was action, there was mystery, there was suspense and then there was also a whole lot of romance which made this book the perfect fit for my current mood.
I enjoyed it very much. Griff and Bethany had chemistry which was a lifesaver as I am very put off by books advertised as a romance but end up with little to no chemistry between the main characters. I started doubting Mason right since he was introduced and him turning out to be the villain of the story made me feel good.
Griff was a teddy bear character with a badass streak, that made him a perfect hero and at the end I was just glad that he was able to overcome his reservations and got back with Bethany.
This is me finally keeping current with a Lantern Beach series. I'm so proud of myself. (Yes, I know that there's one more book that released in March but it's not available on audible yet so I'm counting myself current.)
Phew! What a hair-raising opening scene. My heart was in my throat and I was so antsy because I knew something awful was about to happen and I wanted Bethany to pay more attention to her high alert spidey senses but...ack! Barritt delivers another action-packed, skirting-the-edge-of-danger romantic suspense.
While this is the third book in her Lantern Beach Blackout series, it can be read as a standalone, though there is an over-arcing suspense plot that carries through each book. The author does a great job of covering all the bases when it comes to what a reader needs to know (or remember.)
Tension abounds -- both in the suspense and the romance. Definitely a consume-in-one-gulp thrill of a read.
You can FEEL the intensity in this story, in a good way, from the start! I have to say, I agreed with everything Bethany did and how she responded to every emergency. She is all heart, feisty and protective! She is perfectly matched with Griff, her ex-husband Navy SEAL. This one was a bit more action-crazy knowing that there's an innocent little girl to add to the mix.
Griff is a true hero and such a great dad! He risks his life more than once to ensure Bethany and Ada's safety.
Loved every bit of the plot and the ending was very satisfying. One more for the conclusion of this series but anticipating WAY more Barritt books to enjoy afterwards!
Received a free copy. I was not required to write a positive review. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Finally, readers get Griff's story. As an avid reader of Barritt's Lantern Beach Blackout series, he has been hanging around for the first two books, and I wanted to know his story. Barritt does a wonderful job at showing his hurt and pain as readers encounter his "ex-wife" and his daughter. The suspense is completely there and hopping as the story progresses. The climactic moment was a little different. It was a more important concept in eighties movies, not currently. It was nice to see how Griff and Beverly escaped. The romance is between two people who were on the edge of difference and trying to deal with being in each other's lives again. This was a wonderful addition to the series, and I can't wait to read Rising Tide, the final book for now.
This is a series that I feel gets better with every book. Griff and Bethany's story is powerful and exciting and sweet. It's so easy to picture little Ada the precocious 3 year old who has Daddy and all his seal team buddies wrapped around her little fingers.
Although, the story stands alone, definitely recommend read the series in order. The author does provide tidbits about the overarching story, But you'll get the full scoop reading them in order.
. . . that I missed the usual visit to The Crazy Chefette for a grilled cheese with peach sandwich? 😄
Another exciting entry in Christy Barritt's Lantern Beach suspense novels! I continue to be amazed at just how much happens on the small island. Needless to say, it's a good thing the Blackout team is based there. Especially in light of the ongoing hotel project (surely I'm not the only one who thinks there's something fishy going on there too, regardless of whether the Savages are involved or not).
3.5stars "You're at a playground, Bethany. There's nothing to be concerned about."
Oh, but there was. After the attempted kidnapping of her precious three year old daughter at a crowded public park, Bethany McIntyre turns to the only protector she knows; her ex-husband, a former Navy SEAL and current member of Blackout, a private security team currently headquartering in Lantern Beach, North Carolina. Aligning herself with Griff again presents a huge risk to her heart, but not doing so could have tragic results for their daughter.
Griff and Bethany had always shared a primal connection, one that a marital separation had done little to dissolve. Griff would give his life for his family, even if meant wounding Bethany in the process; sadly, the ripple effect of his decision had left them both relationally damaged. Was is it too late to make amends, or will the real and present danger prevent them from a coveted second chance?
True to style, Christy Barritt has added a great story to her "Lantern Beach Blackout" series!
4.5 Stars Ripple Effect was another great addition to the Lantern Beach Blackout series. Each book just seems to get better and better. This one had heart-stopping and intense action right from the very start. Danger always seemed to be lurking around every corner, making for a fast paced and impossible to put down read.
I liked Bethany and Griff a lot. I was definitely rooting for them to overcome their issues and get back together. They were a great duo. And little Ada was a cutie. She's such a precocious and adorable kid.
I highly recommend this series to fans of romantic suspense. I can't wait to check out the next installment!
Quick read that I could not put down. Looking forward to reading Benjamin 's story next. I love reading stories where the characters are already married. I did not guess who the villain was.
Oh wow! This book rivets the tension up two or three notches. And it is totally different from the others in this series. The hero and heroine aren't meeting and falling in love this time. No, they are ex-spouses, thrown together to protect their daughter from someone who tried to kidnap her.
Brava, Christy Barritt!
The tension in this book was almost too much for me in the first chapter when the child is kidnapped at a park. Kids and dogs do that to me. I almost had to stop, but then I couldn't stop - deep breaths! And yes, that was just the first chapter!
The tension ebbs at perfect breathable intervals. And after getting into the book a little more, I realized that this ending would only be satisfying, and Christy Barritt always has satisfying endings, if the child ended up safe. Confident of that, I held on.
I'm so glad I did. This is my favorite so far! I love how the entire group of island friends surrounded this little traumatized family. And I loved how the over-arching theme from the first book came back in little hints throughout this one. Soooooo good!
Griff walked away from his family, breaking the heart of his wife, Bethany, and leaving behind his young daughter. When a kidnap plot is foiled, Bethany knows that the best person to keep their 3 year old daughter, Ada, safe is her ex-husband, Griff. He is an ex-SEAL and she knows he will protect them with his life, even though she is still angry at his abandonment. As soon as Bethany and Ada arrive in the Outer Banks of NC to meet up with Griff, they quickly realize that trouble has followed them all the way from Virginia Beach. Griff and his team of ex-Seals, work round the clock to keep Bethany and Ada safe, but whoever is behind the kidnapping plot does not give up. Ripple Effect is full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing to the end as Griff tries to stay one step ahead of evil and find who is after his family. Exciting to the end! I received a copy of this novel for free. All of the opinions are my own.
As always, I absolutely love a trip to Lantern Beach. Ripple Effect is the third book in the Blackout series. This story focuses on Griff. Bethany, his ex-wife, shows up on his doorstep unexpectedly after someone tries to abduct their little girl. Griff has to go to work quickly to get to the bottom of what is going on because it becomes quite apparent that someone will stop at nothing to get to Bethany and Ada. This book is not lacking in heart-pounding action and page-turning suspense and of course the right amount of romance. What is unique this time is the budding romance is between exes. Will their relationship work this time? You'll have to read to find out. I cannot wait for the next installment of the Blackout series because there are still so many unanswered questions.
Although this can be read as a standalone, do yourself a favor and read the entire Lantern Beach series because this novel includes visits and updates from all the characters from Lantern Beach we as readers have grown to love.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
I am really enjoying this part of the Lantern Beach series of stories.
Griff is willing to lose the woman he loves and his precious baby girl to keep them safe after Daniel is killed and it looks like the Savages are after his team. Unfortunately, leaving her didn't help - the bad guys have come after his family, trying to kidnap his daughter. He brings them to Lantern Beach to protect them, but somehow the bad guys, with their high tech gadgets, are able to get through the cracks of their security.
One thing that bothered me in the story - they never once asked for God's will. Griff divorced his wife because of his own thinking, not by what the Bible says he should do. If he'd consulted the Word he never would have left her. That bothered me - they never asked what the right thing to do was according to God.
If you like mysteries with a military twist, this is the book for you! The latest Lantern Beach Blackout novel focuses on Griff McIntyre and his family. Someone tries to kidnap his little girl and his ex-wife Bethany knows he is the only one who can keep her safe. Very contemporary drama dealing with soldiers who come back to civilian/family life after their service. This story adds suspense and mystery as to why Griff's daughter is targeted. Is it from a previous mission he had been on? Could it have something to do with Bethany? The answer has to be found before something else happens. I received a preview copy but all opinions are my own.
You'll need all reserves of self-control to read Ripple Effect at a decent pace. Christy Barritt's Blackout team explodes with action on each page and drops readers directly in the center of this fast-paced novel. Bethany and her young daughter Ada are targets of the Savages terrorist group. Unfortunately, this means communication with and traveling to her almost ex-husband, Griff, who promises protection from the former SEALs' agency. Bethany is not sure which is more dangerous; the stalkers or proximity to Griff.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
Continuing in the Blackout series set in Lantern Beach. Four books, four former Navy Seals who are finding love and solving mysteries right next door to Ty and Cassidy Chambers. This book follows Griff, his soon-to-be ex wife Bethany and their adorable 3 year old daughter Ada. Some bad guys are after them and try to abduct the little girl, so Bethan and Ada come to Lantern Beach to keep safe. Light, breezy, predictable, but I still really enjoyed it. Borrowed this one using my one Kindle Owners Lending Library borrow for July, and hope to read the last in the series (Rising Tide) using my August loan.
When the rating page appeared, after I completed this book, it contained only one star. This book rates far better than a single star; it rates as a four star easily. My curiosity grows as I complete each new book in this series. Who is behind the string of attacks on the Blackout Security Team? Are the attacks related, perpetrated by the terrorist group called the Savages, and connected to the team members military service? Or are these different attacks on individual members of this elite security force coincidence? Reading Christy Barritt's Blackout series is refreshing and dividing at the same time.
Every book set in Lantern Beach has been great—the characters, the setting, the thrilling action. This one does not disappoint. It can stand alone, but I’m glad to have read all the connected series in order. This story features Griff McIntyre, one of the Blackout team members. His estranged wife and daughter seek his protection after his little girl was nearly kidnapped. The whole team helps out in the effort to keep them safe, but who is behind the threats? The author throws in plenty of twists and keeps readers guessing. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
I loved this new book in the Blackout series. Griff and Bethany are terrific main characters. Christy Barritt portrays them in a manner in which you get to know them personally. Their love story is one of sacrifice and realization of true love. I couldn’t put this book down. The attempted abduction of Ada starts off this fast paced book. I loved the intrigue of what happens next and then the outcome in the end is great with a little bit of a cliff hanger. I hope it leads to another story with Griff and Bethany.
Ripple Effect by Christy Barritt is book 3 in the Blackout series. Wow! Each book just keeps getting better! Griff has always fascinated me in this series. He is separated from his wife and small child but when his daughter is nearly kidnapped, they are reunited and forced to work together. This story is full of tension, real hurts, and suspense. I absolutely loved it and recommend it to anyone who loves clean romantic suspense. I received a digital copy of this book from the author with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
Bethany’s daughter is nearly abducted at a park. Her estranged husband Griff insists she come to Lantern Beach where he can protect them while figuring out what’s going on. Griff is a former Navy SEAL and is part of a group that is trying to figure out who was behind the murder of their fellow SEAL on a black ops mission several years ago. Do the threats against Bethany and her daughter relate to the mystery or is it revenge against Griff for something in his past?
A fast-paced suspense that will get your heart racing.
Griff has been a favorite of mine in the first two books so it was great seeing his story and learning more about why he left his wife and daughter. This story has kidnapping attempts, gun shots, romance, political intrigue, terrorism potential, undercover antics and military teams interwoven through the whole book.
This story can be read alone and the romance would still be enjoyable. However I would recommend reading it in series order to truly get the whole grasp and potential of the kidnapping, intrigue details.
Ripple Effect is Book Three of Christy Barritt's Lantern Beach Blackout series. So far, out of the series, Griff and Bethany have been my favorite characters. Separated and almost divorced, these two get back together to protect their daughter, only to find the three-year-old isn't the target. Griff is a keeper--the ultimate do the wrong thing for the right reasons kind of guy. The plot keeps you guessing and the banter between husband and wife is great. If you enjoy light romantic suspense, I recommend this series.
This book is the third one in the series, but can stand alone by itself without having to read the others in the series first. If you are looking for mystery/suspense story that you can settle into a cozy chair with a cup of coffee for hours (until you finish!), look no further than this book! Highly recommend...
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
Someone attempts to kidnap Griff’s daughter Ada from a park. When Griff left Ada’s mum Bethany he thought they would be safe. But is someone using them to get to him? And how is the terrorist group the Savages involved? Bethany and Ada come to Lantern beach for protection, but in reality are they safe anywhere. And will Bethany finally understand why Griff left them or will she die before his secret is out?
Griff thinks walking away from his wife and little girl will protect them. Being a Seal and the black op’s they do, yet unable to share them, causes a lot of tension. A year separation, till he gets a call from her, her and Ada were in trouble. Bringing them to Lantern Beach for all around protection, didn’t happen. Who ever was out there knew there moves, and it was deadly. A story of the closeness of these Seals and their loved ones. Got to be long at the end, overall a good story.
Griff McIntyre divorced his wife and left their daughter behind because he had to? Right?
It was for a good cause—or so he thought.
He didn't expect them to be in danger and having to hide in Lantern Beach. But who is after them, and why? Can he keep them safe when he has no clue who their enemy is?
I had a BETA copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Christy did a great job with this 3rd book in the series. The suspense in it keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next. The Characters are wonderful and believable. I have enjoyed each book so far in this series and would recommend reading it.
