It's great being a hero! Super powers, loved by every-- wait, what? Brought over by mistake? These stats are awful, and the kingdom sure seems sketchy... And so begins Mukouda Tsuyoshi's life in another world. And if he thought his strength was bad, his special skill is... accessing his old online supermarket?! It's useless for combat, but if he plays his cards right, there's gold in rare goods. At least, that's what Mukouda thinks, but it turns out his modern food might be more special than it appears - and in this world, Japanese food isn't an everyday sight! Quiet days lead to silent storms, especially once a gluttonous fenrir starts causing trouble and asking for seconds!
So cute! Was excited to read after watching the anime and the first volume does not disappoint. If anything, Fel is even more expressive in this one. Looking forward to continuing the series as the rest get released.
Thanks to edelweiss and the publisher for the digital review copy!
Mukouda’s pulled to another world by accident and besides being a statistical underachiever, his only special power of note is being able to shop online back via a portal to the world he left. As so often happens in these stories, however, it’s not necessarily the skill you’re given, but how you use it...
Isekai novels are, by this point, so ingrained in Japanese publishing market that we’ve now got this entire genre subset for ‘people who really don’t want to be in a new world and have ludicrous do-nothing powers that turn out to do a lot’.
Mukouda is a pretty tolerable example of this type of hero and his age and affable nature make this go down a lot smoother than I would have expected - he’s got a pretty educated guess that his summoners are a bunch of manipulative oppressors (the way the art portrays this is pretty fun) so he nopes out of the call to adventure as fast as he can.
We quickly learn that not only does his ability to procure ingredients make him an asset on the road, but it has the double bonus of showing how his cooking gives powerful buffs to the residents of this world plus making this partially a food manga (I am non-impartially partial to food manga as a rule).
Thus we have a story of somebody walking out on a kingdom, which is fairly pedestrian (sorry) until an overpowered mystical wolf named Fel shows up and becomes Mukouda’s familiar in exchange for meals.
Make no mistake, once Fel gets going and reveals himself to be a very canine (as a friend would put it) ‘stomach on four legs’, he absolutely steals this book out from under Mukouda. Mukouda still holds his own, but everything with Fel’s nigh-insatiable stomach and (ab)using his god-tier power to satisfy it is utterly delightful.
Toss in some rough, sketchy art that I quite admire and you have a fun little book that gets by on its considerable charms. It’s not exactly upending the genre, but it definitely does better than a number of these stories I’ve read.
Maybe it’s an age thing - ‘The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent’ has a similar set-up and attitude and also featured an older lead who was more interesting than a number of similar protagonists.
3.5 stars; certainly one of the better examples of its type I’ve read lately and that silly wolf tips it over into a four star read for me and means I’ll be back to see what our duo get up to in the next instalment.
A story about an average salary man accidentally transporting to another world alomg with the heroes.realising that the kingdom summoning him is up to no good he scrams away.our buddy here doesn't have superhuman strength or all-powerful magic but he does have the ability to buy anything relating to food from his original world (ranging from ingredients to cooking utensils ).
The story is Suuuuper cuuuuuteee.the hero isn't OP just really freaking lucky.with his ability to make delicious food stemming from his supermarket ability and his own cooking skills.
The food made looks delicious and the author takes his time to explain what the process of cooking is (though I suppose it's in more details in the light novel) The artwork is amazing especially the food illustrations (*´﹃`*)
Tl;Dr really fluffy and unproblematic story about a man and his insatiable dog.
Review from first read in 2022 I wasn't expecting to pick up another ongoing manga series - but I'm really glad I caved and brought the first volume for this series. I enjoyed it immensely and cannot wait to see where the story and characters go!
Definitely would like to see this adapted into an Anime one day!
A cute, mindless read- exactly what I needed today.
Is this the most amazing thing ever written? No. And I don't think it intended to be, and that's fine! But the food in this series looked mouth-watering-ly good and it made me smile quite a few times whilst reading.
Will definitely look to continue this series soon!

I fell in love with the anime, so when I saw the opportunity to read the manga, I was really excited. The anime seems to follow the manga quite closely. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this volume, and it was a nice taster for the rest of the series.
The story follows Mukouda, a man summoned from our world to be a hero. It turns out his skill is Online Supermarket, which doesn't lend itself well to helping defeat enemies. He makes a quick escape and begins his journey with some adventurers to get out of the country. On his journey, he acquires a Legendary familiar whom he names Fel.
I loved this. I already knew what was going to happen, but it was nice to see it in a different format. Fel's obsession with meat is so funny. I'm looking forward to seeing how the manga continues. I'm anxiously awaiting season two, so I hope to catch up on the manga.
Tsuyoshi Mukouda has no magic power. The magic he has is to be able to shop online in a Japanese supermarket and cook Japanese meals.
He travels to a place, and he needs protection. He hired a team of adventurers to protect him. While camping, the team killed a boar and had meat leftover. He first cooked a soup. As the food for adventurers is usually dry bread and jerky, the cooked meals are a hit. And the cooking attracted a magical creature. After feeding the creature Fenrir, the creature wants to have a contract bond with Tsuyoshi. The creature is magical and is powerful, but acts like a dog that likes to eat good food. The story continues with the adventure of travelling with a magical creature.
Cosy fun read. A lot of cooking with ginger with pork, and Teriyaki sauce with rock bird meat. I don't like the hard bread in LOTR, and culturally, I prefer food that is hot and with a good sauce.
I’m so glad this has an official release. It’s a bit confusing because there is also a light novel, so i accidentally checked out volumes from each iteration from the library without realizing. The only way I could tell them apart was to check whether the cover showed Akagishi K as the illustrator or not (the light novels have illustrations by Masa, who is credited with character designs).
It’s a very lighthearted and fun series, a slice of life adventuring and cooking isekai 😊 His skill is rather absurd, but it’s not meant to be taken seriously. Warning: Reading this may make you a bit hungry…
So relaxing! I love how Mukohda knows the ins and outs of getting isekaid into another world as a would be hero. He was really smart to notice the Royal family all living in the lap of luxury despite claiming they are fighting against the classic Demon King and their army. It's a good idea to get the hell out of the kingdom, though now it seems he's going to get into even more trouble with selling what this new world considers high quality salt and pepper - as soon as I saw that I already knew he was in for trouble. If Fel catching high ranking monsters wasn't bad enough. All in all I love this adaption, I need to go and read the light novel now.
I really like this take on a Isekai adventure, as I am really getting tired of the main character just starting out as a god level character and this does subvert as the main Mukoda instead of being over powered in the normal he is overpowered in the sense that he is protected by one of the most powerful monsters in the world. And Fel is a really funny character in that he just wants meat and he is arrogant but in a fun way.
Who would have thought that what was originally thought to be a useless ability for online supermarkets could actually be utilized and very useful, even though Mukouda is without combat skills but him cooking skills are quite impressive plus e-supermarket goods are luxuries in the other world and MC can take advantage of that. The comic is light and the whole story is quite fun, it deserves seven stars but the consequence of you reading this series is always drooling because you want to eat.
But I'm super into that, so I like it. Mukoda is likable and easy to empathize with, Fel is really cool, there is not a lot of drama or tension, but sometimes that's what I like. As opposed to hero n+1 saves the world, occasionally I just want some laid back slice of life with giant demigod wolves, y'know?
Saw the anime and found out there was a manga that was further along. Glad to see the anime stuck close to the story although there were a few additions in each. Ex red boar is only mentioned in the book but the anime shows it attacking. Didn’t know there was a novel so now I’m going to go look for that. Still hope for season 2 anime of this story
I love reading manga about food and cooking so this is like the perfect manga for me. The adventure that the main character goes on are fun and eventful and so are the friends that he aquires along the way.

Mukouda is in another world and he doesn't have any real skills to do much but then he finds a way-- able to order from the other world and then whip up some good grub for the soldiers.
It's odd, got some action, has a little goofy parts, demons and creatures, and food.
I’ve read all the light novels and am desperately waiting for the next one to come out. So desperate that I started reading the manga version. It makes me want to re-read the light novels again!
