Captured: A Hate to Love Romance

He hadn't prepared for Georgette Cook.

She's bold.

She's courageous.

She's vulnerable.

She unnerves him.

For the first time in years, he feels like himself again.

He shouldn't think of her that way.

She's off-limits.

But when she demands his mentoring, he'd be lying if he said he wasn't interested.

In her body.

In her innocence.

In her views about life.

And when she thinks it's all over between them?

Well, she's in for a big surprise.

Because he's about to reveal the new owner of the boutique where she works.

This will tear them apart . . . or bring them closer together.

Note: This is the second book in the Dangerous to Love series. Make sure you read Captivated, Book 1, first.

Julia Imari, ‘Captured’.
Dangerous to Love Series, book 2.
A Hate to Love Romance.

As a Hidden Gems ARC reader I promised to review the books 2 (Captured) and 3 (Conquered) of this series. And got also for free the Prequel (Intrigued) and book 1 (Captivated). In the end I reviewed all those four books.

Here my review of book 2 ‘Captured’.

In general: From Hate to Love.

Rating: 4,5 (of 5 stars).

The main characters were introduced in the prequel ‘Intrigued’:
- Georgette ‘George’ Cook (24).
Her ambition is to become a fashion designer in Manhattan. To introduce herself in the NY fashion scene she tries to work as a model. And to pay the bills she works in a fashion boutique, where she uses successfully her decorative talents with the display window.

- William ‘Liam’ Brentley ca (33).
A talented former model and later an accomplished fashion photographer. Survivor of a bad divorce. He’s about to start a new career, for his family owns a big company of fashion stores and his old dad wants to retire.

Book 1 (Captivated) described George’s first important photoshoot assignment in which she by the boss of her model agency, Morgan Finnigan ‘Finn’, is forced to work together with Liam. He doesn’t want to work with a young newbie but gradually accepts that he can be a good mentor for the gorgeous looking, new lingerie model.

In this book 2 (Captured) Julia Imari describes the complications in their relationship. They like each other more and more. But there are a lot of problems. Liam, as CEO of the TB fashion Company is her new boss and doesn’t want to date an employee, had a bad experience when he married a model and he thinks ‘Cookie’ is to young and inexperienced for a permanent relationship. Also Georgette’s model career leads her to an assignment in the Caribbean with another photoshoot team. Moreover Liam is approached by an old girlfriend who aggressively tries to date him.
The author, Julia Imari, then tells how they overcome step by step a few complications (with some help from Finn) and how it influences their careers. The story is interesting and well written. The characters are very credible and intriguing, so this reader keeps involved and is looking forward to the end of the story, told in book 3 (Conquered).

This book picks up largely where the previous one left off, and I can’t see this being successfully read as a stand-alone. I would say you need to have read the first book to understand this one. I liked this book more than the previous, largely because I saw growth in Georgette. She’s still not very good at confrontation, but she’s gotten better at standing her ground for what she wants and believed in. I thought Liam backslid in this one. All I was seeing was the “jerk” with almost no vulnerability at all. I’m also still not feeling many strong emotions in this book. The writing style was more ‘tell’ than ‘show’, which kept a barrier between me and the characters. I still don’t understand why Georgette and Liam insist on keeping irrelevant secrets from each other, but I am interested in finding out what it will take to get them their happy ever after.

This is book two in the Dangerous to Love series and not a standalone. Georgette and Liam's story continues as this one picks up where book one, Captivated left off. The secrets continue to be kept by both characters, why - I am not sure but they will reveal themselves at some point. This was a good read, I liked the characters and watching them grow a little more in this book. The story was entertaining and enjoyable as well. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Enjoy!
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an ARC through Hidden Gems.

This book is even better than the first part which I already read and reviewed as an ARC! This had even more steamy scenes, more love and romance and a few bumps along the way. I just wish this book was longer, I read it all in one go. I can’t wait to read the 3rd book, I need to know what happens next, I’m addicted, I want to know if they’ll get their HEA. I read this book as an ARC!

Is the risk of a heartbreak worth it?

Story is better than the first. It read like a slow motion movie for me though. Lots of telling how the characters feel and what they do, more than showing. Some thoughts sound repetitive. Overall, it's a story of a girl ready to give to love and a man terrified to be in love.
