Surviving prep school is harder than it looks.

Being shipped off to boarding school is the best thing that has ever happened to me, but I could do without the hitmen trying to kill me.
Hunter says he will protect me, but who is going to protect me from Hunter?
He’s sarcastic, overbearing, and… unbelievably gorgeous.
At West Raven Academy, it’s all about tradition and upholding standards. I wonder what they’d think if they knew I have a hit on my life.

I'm Scarlett Haven. I write YA and NA books and I write a lot. My books are a fun mixture of romance, mystery, and now some paranormal too!

Besides writing, I also love to read anything I can get my hands on and I'm always drawn to the villain of the story. I am 29 years old and am married to the love of my life.

This was rlly sad to read. The dialogue was so forced and jarring and clearly written by someone attempting to sound like a young adult. The first 4 chapters also accomplished absolutely nothing and made little to no sense, plotwise. The protagonist kept moping about how ugly she was, no matter how many people called her beautiful. Literally 3 people hit on her and she still goes: "Woe is me."

And then there's the resident mean girl and how she's reallt just mean for the sake of being mean. And then oF COURSE the protagonist hates parties because they just "aren't her thing." As if that gives her depth and makes her unique. I'd rather read about the mean girl with a past than this "main character." AND why you gotta hate on the mean girl for being blonde, tall, and thin? And OF COURSE, she befriends the resident outcast. WHY DOES IT ALL SOUND LIKE IT WAS WRITTEN HY DISNEY???

Another good book from Scarlett! I can't wait for more in the series! Hunter has always been one of my favorite Spy School spies. Now it's time for his story! He's at West Ravon Academy to protect Cove. An unwanted and unloved ordinary girl, or atleast that is what she believes. Her mom and step dad send her and her step brother away for their senior year in high school. She can't figure out why they would actually spend the money on her., Especially with it being her last year in school and her turning 18 halfway through the year and coming into her trust fund from her deceased father. Then on a random walk through the woods someone shoots at her, and that's just the beginning!

Losing Grip starts out similar to Scarlett's spy school books. I love how they are similar. They overlap in some places and tie in to others. You get to hear about characters in her others books which I love. Hunter has been one of my fave characters in her other books so  I'm glad he finally gets to break out on his own some. Cove is an interesting girl everyone is out to kill her and we don't know why. Once you start reading you can't stop til the end. Once you get to the end it's like noooo I need to see what happens next.

I absolutely loved this book! Their so much action going on, i didn't want it to end! I just love Hunter he's amazing bit gutted that nothing happened between him and Cove! Cove is such a lovely character, after all she's been through she still has an great attitude. I also love the relationship between her and her step brother Liam, her mom and step dad are horrible to her and not him but he sticks by her which is so nice that she's not 100 percent on her own like you see in most books!
Can't wait to see where this book goes! 100 percent recommend

I love this book, I think it promises to be another fantastic series from Scarlett Haven. From the first pages I liked Cove more and more. She is a great young girl who, despite the dull situation at home, is adorable, feisty, and so many other things. You'll love her and her story. I recommend 'Losing Girp' to anyone who likes a good and fun book that will leave you waiting for more. If you know Scarlett Haven's other books, you know you won't be disappointed.

Finally time for West Raven! I was so excited to finally get a view of West Raven when Cove and her brother begin the school year there. The action starts almost immediately, so I was hooked. I'm interested to learn more about Cove's family dynamic, and I'm excited to see the progression of her relationship with Hunter. This series is going to be another fantastic one, and I can't wait for the next book!

West Raven Academy

I Hunter / cove’s story. I think they’d make a cute couple. I absolutely hate everyone that’s hurt Cove . Like her parents her grandparents. The people pretending to like her to get close to her then try and kill her . I have a suspicion of who’s getting all the hit men to go after her and I think it’s her mother .

A year after the drama at East Raven, it is West Raven's turn
Cove and her brother, Liam, arrive at West Raven for their senior year. Almost immediately, people start dying. Cove and Hunter have to keep her safe while trying to figure out if her parentage or her trust fund is what is putting her in danger.

Have to say, I really enjoyed reading this book. Hunter is hilarious and I love the dynamic with him and Cove. Scarlett has a great way of balancing how incredibly important little things seem in high school with the drama of spies and assassins. Can’t wait to read the next book.

I really enjoyed Losing Grip, it’s a great start to the West Raven series. The action gets going much sooner than in the East Raven series which I liked. Hunter also shows up pretty quickly into the first book instead of in the second like the other series in the Spy School universe.

Cove is a very innocent and likable character and she has an interesting background too. Her father was a famous rock star but he wanted nothing to do with her until his death so the public doesn’t know about Cove. Cove’s mother was just a teenager when she got pregnant with her and she blames Cove for ruining her life.

Cove’s mother and stepfather are abusive to her but her stepbrother Liam is the only person in the world who cares about her. At boarding school Cove finally has freedom but she quickly finds herself in danger. There are people trying to kill her and she has no idea why. Hunter is there to protect her but he can’t be there all the time.

In the East Raven series, it took awhile for the drama to turn into a thriller. In this series, it’s a thriller from the very beginning and I loved it. It felt like the background of The Princess of Spy School with the action of the second half of East Raven. There’s still some typical high school drama but the focus is on people trying to kill Cove.

There are a lot of similarities between this series and East Raven but it’s still unique enough that I didn’t feel like I was reading a rerun. There wasn’t much character development with any of the characters though. They all felt very one dimensional and maybe they’ll be developed more later in the series but it would’ve been nice to have more character depth to begin with.

Harper is supposed to be Cove’s best friend but we barely get to know her at all. Some of the other characters just feel like stereotypes, Preston is the rich playboy, Liam is the spoiled golden child, Arabella is the snobby mean girl. I also thought it was weird Hunter is described as mysterious when his character was completely different in the previous series.

Overall, Losing Grip is an enjoyable read with lots of action and drama. I hope that in the next book there will be more character development. I also hope to see some of Phoenix and Sander since they’re just across the street at East Raven. I would really like to get to know Hunter and Jaxon better since Hunter has the spotlight this time too. All around, I’m excited for book two.
