Time for another Volume of RWBY!
An old, dear friend of mine recommended RWBY to me years ago, so I figured it was a great series to jump into when I found the mangas. He swore by the manga and could never stop talking about it (he was a serious fanboy). This series is definitely as good as he says it is, but it's not the perfect fit for me.
This specific series of RWBY is a lot more serious and less jokey. Lately, I've been yearning for more jokey and fun manga. This book is still incredible - it's action packed, has great illustrations and has an awesome storyline. These people kick butt and are awesome at it.
If you're looking for a thrilling and action-packed manga with a more serious tone then this is perfect for you.
Three out of five stars.

This is the second volume in the RWBY manga adapted from the Rooster Teeth animation. The adaptation moves forward a bit faster than the show and it tends to be slightly more serious with fewer jokes. This volume really brings the political plot into view when it comes to the discrimination against Faunus and an organization that once fought for what's right, The White Fang, which has supposedly turned to crime and terrorism. Team RWBY grows even closer in their friendship as they decide to work together to find out just what is going on with The White Fang.
A great adaptation that really done into the story and this manga brings it to life just as the show. The medium is different, but the story and art are rich, and this is a fantastic manga for fans of the original show or anyone looking for a new, exciting manga to read.

In this volume, we get some intrigue. We learn that Blake was once in a group called White Fang, made up of Faunus who fought against discrimination and prejudice toward Faunus, and for their rights, but now something sinister is going on with the group. Blake goes to investigate, and finds a new leader has lead them astray, and turned White Fang into a terrorist group. Also, Ruby makes a new friend, Penny, who is not quite what she seems....
The overall themes of friendship and camaraderie are here, plus lots of action, and I'm digging the underlying sense of secrecy and intrigue- that always makes a story interesting!

I loved the first book in this manga series and this one still had some of the same magic and friendship but ultimately this one just got too confusing and jumped from scene to scene too quickly.
I loved the friendship themes in this between all of the RWBY girls and their team. Their devotion and love for one another really shined through in this especially considering what happened with one of them.
I do wish more had been explained in this volume though. I found myself getting confused with the new characters and new plot points. The action scenes were epic but the art did have me guessing at some points which I don’t always enjoy.
The ending was also super abrupt which kind of jolted me out of the story and took away a lot of my enjoyment. I still had fun with this volume! I just wish we had more explanations but hopefully we get that in future volumes.
Overall, a solid sequel and I will be continuing on with this series if given the chance to!

I really enjoyed this volume.
Some events were different than what happened in the anime and I like the change, it'd be cool if these fights happening in the manga could be animated because I'd for sure watch that. I mean I am a big rwby fan, been watching it since the trailers came out, and now I pick up the books and manga because I just love rwby as a whole. Though there are a lot of things i don't like about the anime, and things that could've been done better, overall I love the anime, and that made me pick up the mangas.
Anyways the fight in this volume between Sun, Neptune and Roman in the giant robot suit, I wish that happened in the anime. I mean it sort of did, just not the way it happened. I really liked the way the scene was illustrated and done. Like you could actually see the characters scrapes and such, they don't really show things like that in the anime until like volume or season 4-5. The only time i can really see someone getting slightly hurt is with Weiss in the white trailer, and Yang in volume 3 but that's a whole different case.
Though this scene in the manga I really enjoyed, the Mangaka gave Sun and Neptune more fighting or screen time, I liked that they could both show of their moves equally because that doesn't happen in that fight scene in the anime. I remember Roman was chasing them on a highway and Sun was fighting him with Blake. Neptune didn't really do much in that scene, and once sun get pushed away with Neptune, they didn't come back up. They did but like later at some restaurant. It was funny in the anime. I like how serious the manga is compared to the start of the anime. I really liked their teamwork because the only other time in the anime we see them working together is in the Vytal Festival, and I love these guys they're fun and cool.
Anyways those are my thoughts, lots of spoilers if you haven't seen the anime. My bad I was just getting really into it.

If you like Mechs, Animal People, and Team Fights you may like RWBY The Official Manga Vol 2.
QUICK REVIEW
Unforutnately this volume is a 2.5/5, the story is very confusing for newcomers and even the minimalist art style which unique doesen't help guide new readers to the series. I feel this manga series is for existing RWBY fans. Although this volume is filled to the brim with action, the story was a letdown for me and I think I may put this series on hold while I read other series.

As I said in my previous review I have close to no knowledge of RWBY and I did really want to like this series. But this is a solid 2.5/5 for me, I don't think that the manga is a great entry point for newcomers to the series. It almost seems like its directed to fans of RWBY. I felt that I was very confused on the character backstories and even the art style doesen't help using a more minimalist style with lots of white space. If I was already a fan I feel this would have a bigger impact. But the one positive critique I have is that the this manga is filled with action and I am a sucker for team fights. The action scenes really brign this up for me and for some they can overlook the confusing story but for me this series maybe paused and will be picked up later.

Volume two continus RWBY’s story at Beacon Academy. This is basically the retelling of the first season in manga format. We meet Sun and Neptune and team RWBY learns about the White Fang and Blake’s past. Oh, and we also met Penny!
I don’t fully remember what Ruby’s initial reaction was to Penny in the show but I don’t think she was “forced” to socialize with her. At least they actually hit it off later on and act like real friends.
I love dumb himbos Sun and Neptune but I wish Sun got less focus. I mean yes, he is important to the White Fang plot but team JNPR are also important characters and they got less screen time all together than Sun.
I liked the art style as usual and the character designs followed the show. I liked how the action scenes looked but I found them a bit hard to follow in drawn format. I appreciated that the dialogue made sure to explain and emphasize the semblances/powers the kids used because this can be confusing for people who haven’t watched the show.
I adored that even the food fight was kept, which is just as utterly ridiculous as it was in the show. It shows the great duality of RWBY managing to be fun while also managing heavier plotlines.

This series is a prequel to RWBY.
I've found my favorite. I've found my favorite. I've found my favorite!! He's based of Sun Wukong (he has the same name), the Monkey King (he's a monkey Faunus too) from Journey to the West and I love him! Something about chaotic good mixed with bad impulse control.
Anyway, the art doesn't improve much since the last volume so there's a lot of haziness and places where it's difficult to see what's going on. My stance on Roman is still about the same, charismatic villains are usually good, I'm just interested in his motives cause his actions seem to be all over the place.

The things that I enjoyed in the first volume seem to be falling by the wayside in book two. While the art for the most remains good there are some panels (pages even) which reminded me of bad photocopies because of the blank spaces, half lines, etc.
In this instalment we learn about White Fang. It is the central story of the book and the fairytale aspects I liked so much in the first book make way for this. I did however like the side story of the robot friend.
I’m not sure how much having no background knowledge of RWBY is impacting my enjoyment of this series. I would have hoped the manga could have been enjoyed separate from the tv series but I feel like readers are expected to have the context to follow the manga better.

RWBY: The Official Manga Vol 2 is an enjoyable way to spend an hour or two. However, I do miss the humor of the anime. Lighten up ladies! 3 stars.

It's so endearing, reading this. Being up to date with the show I miss them so much now. And reading this makes me look at them all like a mother looking at photos of her now grown up kids when they were little.

so far this manga is a 3.5 for me. it's really fun and i'm truly loving the friendship aspect most of all but the art style somehow makes it very hard for me to concentrate on what's happening or see what's going on...

My point from Volume 1 still stands: the art style is neither pretty nor clear enough for me. I don't understand if this should "retell" the series or make an alternative storyline, because it somehow did neither?
There were a few good moments, but other than that: watch the animation instead.

I loved the rooster teeth show and was hoping for a bit more with the manga but it looses the magic without the amazing characters and comedic timing.

I'd forgotten some of the characters we meet in this volume. I do wish the art was a little clearer for the action scenes, but this is still a great manga adaptation of the cartoon.
