They still look like your loved ones. The ones you love are gone forever.

In times of turmoil, Mercury has always found peace taking nighttime strolls in the woods. But after her boyfriend’s betrayal breaks her heart, Mercury’s escape into the trees turns into a nightmare when she stumbles upon three cloaked figures preparing to perform a mysterious ritual.

Having been left for dead in the woods, Mercury determines to discover the truth of the ritual she almost ruined and the fate of the man upon whom it was performed. But her meddling does not go unnoticed. If she can’t find and stop those who tried to kill her, the ritual will be performed again.

And this time, the victim is someone Mercury loves...

About the author

Mark Ayre

An avid writer since crafting a moving story of a penguin trying to find his way home (sadly no longer in print) when he was a mere six years old, Mark has started hundreds of novels and written millions of words.

Recently learning how to curb his imagination and actually get something done, he now writes character-driven suspense thrillers, often with supernatural elements.

Like all great authors, he writes about himself in the third person, as though he has enough money to afford a publicist.

A bit of a different genre from my normal fare but I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially as it didn't end as I expected which was a plus! Looking forward to picking up the next volume.

Excellent!

So good I read it in two days! Some unexpected plot twists, really well written despite some minor errors editing, I'm so happy that I gave a chance to this author, since it didn't have any reviews. Reminds me of early Graham Masterton works. I strongly recommend it!

It started out pretty good. Then I found out it was about possession. I do not like those stories. A hard pass.
