Before You Were Born is the product of a passion. Before I was married I didn’t pay any attention to the motherhood process. I planned to just “do what the doctor tells me”. But when I became pregnant (and after many weeks of research), I became more and more drawn to the natural birthing community, where the women acted more or less like a family. They supported one another, believed in empowering women to embrace their abilities, and celebrated birth with an unparalleled joy. But as much as I loved their attitude, I often found New Age philosophies integrated throughout the content shared and couldn’t reconcile these with my Christian worldview. I wanted the supportive environment and natural approach – but from a Christian perspective.
Through a Christian birthing seminar, a few great books, and a desperate need for God’s support, I began praying specifically, fervently, and boldly over my birth and baby. As I did so, I saw myself changed from the inside out. I saw it affect my entire life and my marriage. And I saw it give me the birth for which I’d hoped.
This book is a culmination of my pregnancies, and I hope, a blessing to you.
A beautiful work with the aim of guiding expectant moms in prayer for pregnancy, labor, and the baby. This devotional includes points of prayer, exercises to try to build strength and stamina (not just physically, but mentally, spiritually, and relationally), and resources for more information.
I appreciated the priority placed on honoring God and God’s design for pregnancy and birth, with the understanding that things may not go as planned. We need faith regardless, and we can build it now! Looking forward to taking advice and prayer structure from Masonheimer’s work.
Es un devocional cortito para orar. Sencillo, con varios puntos desagregados como para que no se escape nada en una oración continúa y específica a Dios. Rescato mucho la sección de recursos con más libros y otros formatos para poder auto educarse.
I used this devotional to pray over my baby while I was pregnant. It gave me a framework to go by since I get overwhelmed by trying to pray for all the things. When I felt anxious trying to fall asleep, I would pray my way through the prompts until I was tired. 10/10 would recommend
A short PDF book that is mostly a prayer guide. This was very helpful for me coming into the 3rd trimester with a lot of fear around birth. Having something to guide my prayers was so good. At the end she also included a list of pregnancy resources, scriptures for pregnancy & brith, as well as birth affirmations.
