Riddler's Edge #7.5

Slippery Slope

Rate this book
This is a standalone cozy mystery novel, set in the Riddler’s Edge world. It can be enjoyed without having read the Riddler’s Edge series.

A romantic getaway turns deadly …

When Pru and Greg head to the enclave of Snowy Hollow for the Winter Wizard Festival, they’re looking forward to a weekend of snow-filled fun. But Snowy Hollow is not what they expected. The enclave is ruled by the Byrne coven, whose hobbies include: being mean to the yeti, blaming other people for their crimes, and littering the enclave with upmarket bars and terrible food.

When Pru predicts the death of a famous sportsman, Oscar Brown, things take a deadly turn.

Pru and Greg find themselves suspected of Oscar’s murder, and unable to escape the enclave. Together with some newfound friends, they set out to track down the real killer, stop the Byrnes from destroying the enclave, and find a way home.

There will be mystery, vampire magic, and a whole lot of snacking along the way …

I’m don’t even have the words to explain how happy I am that A.A. Albright decided to bless us with a book with a Pru POV.

With Greg being my absolute favourite character in the Riddler’s Edge series (apparently quirky inventors are my type), being able to spend more time with him was truly a gift.

Obviously with Pru and Greg being away from Riddler’s Edge, we don’t see any of the other players we’re used to. Instead we get to meet entirely new cast of characters. I actually really liked that. To me, that fact really helped Pru to not be a side character in her own story.

The mystery in this was excellent, and as always, Albright’s writing is effortless and can leave you in fits of giggles.

Excellent!

This story is so convoluted...and SO much fun! This time Pru and Greg are front and center, and they're trapped in a corrupt enclave called Snowy Hollow. The tale is well-written and entertaining with an abundance of dead ends and twists. Pru may have wasted time downplaying her own skills and wishing Aisling was available to take over, but she manages to solve the crimes with verve, style... and a bit of help from friends! It's hard to believe that such a fantastically crafted read is a side story!

Slippery Slope

I almost forgot about this ebook and then I saw it and I just had to start reading it. It was worth the time to read it. It starts off with a good start and it keeps getting better and better. Read it and you will see what I mean.

Great as usual

Always an edge of the seat thriller with the best kind of comic relief in full measure and packed with witches, wizards, vampires and other supernaturals.Whats not to love. All AA Albright's books are awesome.

A Riddler's Edge story not set in Riddler's Edge and no Aisling. That said, it is set in the same world of magic.
The crime is just a little too desperate and the baddies, just a little too convoluted for my tastes.

Still, it was a pleasant read, just not as engaging as the mainstream stories.

While I love the series I gave this one 3 stars. It seemed a little slow and disjointed to me in the first chapter. It picked up as the story went on and by the end I was happy with the way things ended up.
started it and put it down but am glad I picked it up again.

Delightful diversion

The focus is on Pru and Greg as they deal with an entirely new -- and frozen -- environment and a completely new cast of nefarious characters.

Lovely to read something from Pru's point of view. I'm a bit hungry after all Greg's snacking, though.

This is a great Riddlers Edge side story. It was great to get a closer look at Greg and Pru.

Another well-done cosy mystery from Albright. It doesn't matter how formulaic they are - as long as she keeps writing, I'll surely keep reading.

Skiing and yetis

This one is from Pru's point of view, and well done. She gets to shine as the detective, and her psychic abilities are getting a workout.

This is a stand alone book in the Riddler's Edge Series. I did not enjoy it as much as the others and disliked the twee ending.

Enjoyed reading this book. All of the books about Riddler's edge have the greatest charters, you feel as if could be there in Riddler's Edge with them!

Loved it!

I loved this book. This time the adventure takes place in Snowy Hollow. Pru and Greg have gone on a road trip alone. Can they figure everything out before it is too late?

Chaotic. Squashy magic. Blame it on the chaos storm, I guess.

Pru & Greg

A good murder mystery with interesting twists all over the place. I missed the glamour point too and it was important.
