This manga is... surprisingly meaningful. It not only deals with making the right decisions in times of difficulty, but also about the meaning of friendship and how to go around making up after a fight with your closest friends. Opening up; telling the truth; determining the correct solution to a problem; all of these circumstances and more are explored in this manga, and it's wonderful to see such everyday difficulties being handled properly and with just the right amount of nudging forward from the main character, Kaizaki.
(Aki-chan and Nobu-chan are the absolute best, by the way.)
This report covers chapters 38 to 52. It is a reread.
With this Volume, we reach a resolution of Kariu's arc. Amazingly, with Hishiro's clumsy straightforwardness, Kariu and the latter resolved their misunderstandings humorously, at lighting speed. This was also thanks to Arata's decision to tell Hishiro the truth when he was first confronted (he is starting to become Hishiro's counsel for advice), and his sincere acknowledgement of Kariu's effort during their talk at the school's infirmary. "Aah, innocent teenagers, how wonderful it is, youth", are the thoughts that float up while wearing smiles as brightly such as Arata and Yoake who were peaking at the side in the story.
We, audience, are also given a glimpse of Arata's past and snippets of his short tenure at work. I guess his ability to emphatize didn't stem from his caring personality, he had also been through some of his own struggles - then again, of course he had, why else would we have this story if he hasn't?
If previous volume asks how we feel suffocated by our circumstances, this volume asks how we confront them head on. Would you choose to run away or would you face it head on? How many misunderstandings did we left unsettled in our wake?
With this arc resolved peacefully, we moved on to uncovering more of our ditzy An-chan, the transfer student who had been taking retests together with Arata. Let us read on! 😄

ReLife has a fantastic premise: the ability to return to high school for year (physically as a 17 year old, but retaining your current-day intellect and personality) with the aim of making changes and developing the seeds of a better life. In other words, it is a fun exploration of the old chestnut: "youth is wasted on the young."
I really love the illustration in this: things are super clean yet expressive and memorable. The characters are relatable and charming. The story also has surprised me for being willing to tackle a few deeper issues than the superficial presentation would suggest.
My only real criticism would be that some of the long term story beats are a bit clumsily telegraphed: the author almost circles with red pen lines that will become quite important or significant later on. Still, a lovely read.
A recommendation from my boyfriend, this is one of his favourite manga. This is about an unemployed guy in his late 20s whose life did not turn out as he had hoped when he got an offer to take part in an experiment where he takes a pill and gets back to his 17-year-old body and experience high school all over again. So far I really enjoy it and I'm curious to see where the story is going.
This volume was particular funny as the characters are placed in an uncomfortable position. There is a plot twist that I had no idea was coming and will surely add a new angle to the story. Outside of the gags and silliness it was nice seeing the girls have a serious moment as they solidified their friendship.
