This much awaited book lands on my kindle and everything gets put on hold. I'm a sucker for Good Guy romances, ones where hero is a provider & takes charge in a "I got this" kinda way. Ryan Willis certainly made me go week in the knees with his shirtless sexy physique and crooked dimpled smile.
“I’m talking about Ryan all-hot-and-outdoorsy-and-without-doubt-an-incredible-lay Willis.”

description

Jodi makes my heart palpitate faster, harder like no other writer. Her Forte being the Oh-so-Macho alpha hero who sweeps in to protect the damsel in distress, and though he rides a truck instead of a steed, the utterly romantic notion of a Guardian/Protector makes me all giddy inside. I mean, who can forget the swoon-worthy Body Guard Jake Sharp who saves Camille in The Protector!
This book is a spinoff in the same Galaxy of Guardians. Though the background plot reeks of mystery and danger, Jodi infuses Breathless sensuality in steamy love scenes. That delicate balance seems to heighten the frustrating passion that both seem to deny initially.
Hannah Bright is the object of Ryan's desire and hiding a dark secret, deadly enough to give her nightmares, anxiety and panic attacks.......and a loaded gun!!

description

"Ryan wants me. Just the way I am.
He’s filling the empty spaces inside me. And I can’t help letting him.
I can’t help admiring him more every day. This is the man I was always supposed to be with.
And now I fear I’ve found him too late."

An intense foreboding cloud looms just on the horizon and the few stolen moments the couple finds together, break the spell with exploration of bodies and lip- numbing kisses. Oh my lord, Ryan can KISS... I adore when Jodi writes her trademark bathroom sex scenes (there's one in every book), The outdoor shower heats up chilly weather with rising passions
There's a particularly sinfully sensual scene in the lake that had me panting for Ryan and I'm sure the water was boiling with passionate frenzy!!

description

Characterization is starkly black and white, there's pure goodness vs the evil black. The constant thread of suspense highlights Ryan's dedication and devotion to shield Hannah at all costs makes me swoon.
The charming small town setting adds to the flavor. Ryan and Hannah's chemistry is pulsating & palpable, their trust building gets interrupted by an old enemy that just won't give up. Hannah's natural instinct to take flight is handled by Ryan with painstaking patience

description

The adorable Alex being Daddy's Sidekick, is mouthy and sassy 10 year old who nudges the characters when they are at an impasse and her comic timing of stating the obvious just made me Laugh!!
Another superbly written, inviting, Must- Read romance that should be on everyone's Kindle.
Since her husband is the Lord now, Lady Jodi's cap just got another feather!
4.5 stars for heart that swings on the lake

I move in close behind him, my attention dancing across the beads of water on his skin that are sparkling like crystals when the fading light hits them. And still, he remains motionless, waiting for me, patient. Quiet. He calls to me without a word. And I admit to myself for the first time, I’m desperate to stay here. With him. Forever.

”LEAVE ME BREATHLESS” is a spin-off of ”The Protector”. The Hero, Ryan Willis, is ex MI5 and close friends with Jake Sharp. I liked this book so much more than its predecessor. The pace of the story flowed perfectly and I felt a connection to the main characters. Ryan and Hannah had insane chemistry. While the story reminded me so much of the movie, ”Sleeping With The Enemy”, I can’t deny that I was thoroughly entertained. There was plenty of JEM’s signature steam with a healthy dose of nail-biting action thrown in as well.

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 5
Heroine: 4.5
Plot: 4.5
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

Jodi Ellen Malpas is a top fave of mine. Her books are always very well written, superbly plotted, and thoroughly engaging. This book was no different. I particularly enjoyed seeing previous characters while getting to know the new ones. The romance was stellar and the suspense kept me on my toes.

Here’s what I loved:

JEM writes some seriously hot male leads. I adored Ryan from the very beginning. Hannah was a total sweetheart. I love these two together. Ryan and Hannah’s chemistry is sizzling. I loved her backstory, well most of it. And he was a complete and total winner! Everything worked effortlessly with these two.

Definitely recommend this one! Loved the chemistry between these two! The characters, storyline, suspense really worked for me.

Leave Me Breathless is the newest standalone romance from Jodi Ellen Malpas full of sweetness, heat, and some added suspense. The story is connected to The Protector but can be read as a complete standalone and doesn't spoil anything from the other book. For fans of The Protector though, you will get a few fun cameo's in this book.

Ryan and Hannah had an instant spark of chemistry and from the very beginning I just knew that I was going to love them and their relationship. And I wasn't wrong! Ryan had this quiet intensity about him that really drew me in. I could tell there was some darkness to his personality but what really shined through was his fun side, which I loved. And he was so cute with Hannah.

She was very lighthearted and had a really good outlook on life most of the time. Her past added some darkness to the story and suspense that I enjoyed but I also would have liked more of that. That's probably just me since I do enjoy dark romances and a lot of darkness in my books, but I do think there was definitely room to add more of that not-so-pretty past in the story, especially to make it more suspenseful.

Overall, this was a really fun book to read and I adored these character. I had a smile on my face for so much of this book and didn't want to put it down. Definitely a recommended read that I think anyone will like.

Solo... LEEDLA.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Former MI5, Ryan has been working for an exclusive protection agency for the last couple years and he is weary. Deciding that it is time to retire, he can't wait to get home and spend more time with his daughter but a new woman in town is disturbing his peace.
Hannah is constantly on the move and knowing she is only going to spend six months in this new town, she doesn't want attachments. When the town hottie almost runs her over though, all kinds of complications arise, the biggest starting with her heart.

Ryan's a good man. He deserves my all. But one thing I have to accept is that he can't have one piece of me. My secrets. No one can ever know that part of me. That alone could ruin everything.

Leave Me Breathless is a stand-alone but readers of The Protector will remember Ryan and enjoy the little appearances from that couple. Readers will also notice how similar this story line is to Protector; protective man falling in love with a woman who has secrets about an abusive man in her past. What hurt this story the most was the tried and true but nothing new formula. Told in alternating chapter first person povs, the beginning drew me in with Ryan quitting his job so he can spend more time at home relaxing and spending time with his daughter. While Hannah's past is not fully revealed until the second half, there are enough hints that the reader has a good idea what she is running from. The second half dragged as Hannah kept hiding her past from Ryan and their sexcapades took over for plot.

Hannah was a character that came close to a form of manic pixie girl, she is so adorably clumsy (to the point at times I worried she had vertigo), so sweet, and look how cute she is when she always has paint on her and doesn't care about make-up or appearance. It also made no sense that she would go to the trouble of setting up a paint store when she only planned on staying in town for six months.

Ryan was a hero that I probably would have liked more in my teens but older me was cringing at times at his controlling attitude; there were moments I felt his actions weren't that different or far off from the abusive husband Hannah was running from. His relationship with his ten year old daughter was nice, even though I thought his daughter's personality seemed a bit advanced for a ten year old.

Hannah and Ryan did have a nice feeling of fitting together, they did lack some foundation or solidness to their relationship that had me thinking their love was too quick to come to fruition. They did play off each other well, I just wish some of Ryan's “protectiveness” had been toned down.

There's a tiny bit of ex-wife drama but the characters' acted in a way that I appreciated, not overly dramatic about it and the resolution was pretty quick. The danger from Hannah's past was hinted at, slow to fully reveal, and then quickly (and a bit worrisome how Ryan immediately wanted to and dealt with it) wrapped up. If you like the classic story of woman in danger and protective man this would fit the bill, just don't expect any freshness to the tale.

“I don’t want this to end yet.”
“This never ends, Hannah.”
“Everything ends.”
“This…never…ends…”

If you’re a fan of Jodi Ellen Malpas you’ll no doubt be dying to flip the pages of her latest standalone, Leave Me Breathless. The trademarks of this author are all apparent, the ones we’ve all come to love from her, but in Ryan Willis, although still possessive and commanding, we have hero somewhat ‘softer’ for want of a better word, and we loved him! In saying that, Ryan Willis very much retains the masculine alpha Jodi writes so well. Ex-M15 and army, he’s the guy you’d want on your side…and in your bed. Phwoarrr, he really is very delicious without being overbearing!

We really enjoyed Leave Me Breathless. We adored Hannah Bright, our heroine, who really was, by all regards, a hero herself! As this woman’s past unravelled, we cheered her on and stood behind her every step of the way. A warrior, a survivor – she may have been sweet and quiet in personality, but she was all grit and heart underneath.

“This is me, Ryan. There is nothing else for me to give you, just this. Isn’t it enough?”
I find myself smiling almost immediately, her message received loud and clear. It is more than enough.’

Leave Me Breathless is a romantic suspense as such, with a small-town setting which we loved. The friendly, quirky townsfolk of Hampton were welcoming and entertaining, as was this story. What more could we want, romance, passion, suspense, intrigue, humour and emotion. Tick, tick, tick!

The story opens with Ryan and his partner Jake Sharp (you’ll remember him from The Protector) cheating death on another dangerous case, and they’re done. They want boring. They want quiet. For Jake, he just wants to get home to his wife, Cami, Ryan wants to relax in the idyllic Hampton, spending time with his cute daughter. Lounging back in his cabin without a worry in the world.

“I don’t want to look at you when I tell you what I’m about to tell you,” she says quietly. “I don’t want your sympathy.”

Also wanting a quiet life is Hannah Bright. Opening a cute little arts and crafts store in town, Hannah hopes Hampton, in the Peak District will give her the peace and sanctuary she craves. But what is she running from? What drove her to the out of the way, Hampton? And can she be safe?

Ryan and Hannah quite literally bump into each other and though they didn’t get off on the best footing, sparks soon fly and the chemistry sizzles between them. Ryan’s ten-year-old (going on thirty) daughter Alex takes a shine to Hannah as well, and for the first time Ryan sees a future, but will Hannah hang around long enough for that to come to fruition, or will her past catch up with her.

‘Ryan wants me. Just the way I am. He’s filling the empty spaces inside me. And I can’t help letting him in.’

We were certainly kept entertained throughout Leave Me Breathless, falling in love with the characters – especially the banter with Ryan and his daughter, Alex. She really was an old soul and gave us quite the giggle. The closing chapters were especially emotional and a perfect place to end Ryan and Hannah’s story. A charming and at times suspenseful story we adored!

“I don’t ever want to scare you.” I’m not scared of him, not like that. I’m scared because he leaves me completely breathless.’

Beautiful Romantic Suspense!

I adored this book. I was expecting some kind of typical romantic suspense thingy, but it was so much more. Such a cute little small town romance with so many adorable and funny moments!

But it was also still this mysterious and exciting romantic suspense story!

I loved it!

I loved Ryan and how he loves his house and his outdoor shower! LOL!

He's seen a lot of bad stuff in his job and he's just so happy to be home - everything/one he loves is in this town - even if some of it is very complicated and annoying!

And Hannah ... she is just adorable! She's so fun and fresh and full of color and life! Even after everything she went through - which we don't know much about yet of course!

I loved that we got to see Cami and Jake again!

I so wouldn't mind if this book would show up on my TV one day! ☺

LEAVE ME BREATHLESS was a beautiful & funny & adorable & exciting small-town Romantic Suspense! I loved it! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Ryan - this one is MINE! ☺

5 Million ‘It Surpasses Bliss’ Stars

O…M…G! Talk about literary nirvana! I’m sorry but I’ve got to be cliche and say that this book indeed left me breathless for all the BEST reasons!
Unforgettable, mind blowing, heart and soul gripping, Leave Me Breathless has all the elements of an EPIC LOVE story and beyond!
Only Jodi Ellen Malpas could take a small town romance give it a twist, and raise it to the skies with her very own unique brand of sophisticated über sexiness and the most delicious of JEM Alphas! PHE…NOM…E…NAL!!!!!

Awww, I honestly could not be more in love with this book and its incredibly rich and characters. Going by the setting – LOVED the adorable small town of Hampton – and the premise alone I was hooked from the get go, but every single time a new character was revealed, a new layer of Hannah’s unveiled or their chemistry and magnetism punched us right along with them I was soaking up every single word. Witnessing and FEELING their passion blossom into the most beautiful of love stories was just…wow…

Weird shit is happening in my veins, my heart, my head.

“I’m not who you think I am.” My mind’s scrambled, words coming that I don’t mean to say.
“I don’t care who you are.”
“Then kiss me.”

“There aren’t many things in life I’m certain of. I’m certain I love my daughter with everything I have. I’m certain I’ll live my life, and I’m certain I’ll eventually die. And after I met you, Hannah, I was certain you’d turn my world upside down when I kissed you.”

Hannah and Ryan are the definition of #OTP! The perfection of their instant recognition, his swoon worthy words and actions, her sweetness and vulnerability coupled with an incredible strength and their declarations, their confessions… Each time Ryan declared her, almost from the very beginning, ‘his game changer’, ‘his heaven’, as ‘turn his world upside down’ and Hannah calling him ‘her cure’, ‘her peace’ even while maintaining she didn’t need a savior, was heart warming and soul emphatizing to the max. It is impossible not to fall for this PERFECTLY imperfect characters!

“you’ve woken up my heart”

I have her. And it’s a revelation to me, but I’m silently wondering how I can keep her. I don’t like the pang of pain that stabs at my heart. Because once again, something deep and unshakable is telling me she isn’t available.

It’s happiness. It’s here, it’s now. It’s Ryan.

No words could do it justice, believe me when I say that only reading it and experiencing it first hand is possible to feel the full force of their insta connection – and we all know how much I’m a sucker for that, lol – almost like instant recognition, but still so very realistic and relatable. All this intensity translate truly in an EPIC love story, and how could it not, we have have a ICONIC ‘romance in the raging storm’ scene *daydreams about those soaking wet declarations and heart pounding moment*! Yep, Ms. Malpas gave us everything we could have hoped for in this love story. Everything!

Every tiny piece of my lost soul is found.

This never ends, Hannah,”

“I just want to love you, Hannah,” I murmur. “And more than that, I want you to give me permission to.”
“And even more than that,” I say quietly. “I want you to accept it.”

There is so much I want to say – ok, ok, rave is a more appropriate word, lol – but mainly how magical and enrapturingly addictive Ryan – aka the swooniest of the Alphas! – and Hannah are from their very introduction. Not only were they winners of my heart from the start, but I have to stand out how ingenious and overall extraordinary Ryan’s daughter, Alex, was! This ten year old was Amazing!!! So witty, but still so sweet and caring, she was another gem of the story on her own (actually I’m secretly hoping we get her very own book in the distant future. Yep, she was that memorable!). But not only Alex stood out as secondary character, all this small town and its oh so charming and endearing personas completely stole my heart. So much so that I wanted to see them more and more of them, each single glimpse, a delight for my spirit.

Yes, Jodi Ellen Malpas truly gave us the best of the small town romance, with her very unique and addictive twist. Ryan and Hannah’s love story was as original as it was enrapturing, transporting us throughout tense and emotional moments, but also the most hilarious of snippets; action filled, but plentiful sweet and passionate sequences; and let’s not forget all the in between ÜBER STEAMY trademark JEM sexy scenes, because they need a stand out all on their own, and Ryan… Oh boy, was this man steamy in every single way… *fanning myself*

There are kisses. And there are kisses. I’ve had many of the latter with Hannah, the type of kiss that makes you forget everything except the feel of that person’s mouth on yours. Kisses that make all other kisses seem inconsequential. Kisses that make you ache. That rule you. That breathe clarity and purpose into you.
But this kiss has carried me past even that. This kiss has me signing over my life to this woman.

His kisses reveal his weakness. His kisses tell of his strength. His kisses speak of his love. And I am forever consumed in every element of them.

Leave Me Breathless, is undoubtedly not just one of top reads this year, but one of my ALL TIME favs! I will never forget Hannah and Ryan, and for that reason I once again bow down to Ms. Malpas masterful writing, I don’t know how she manages it, but every single book she unleashes into the world, sears itself into the very core of my heart and souls. No exaggeration here, JEM’s words are THAT impactful! And for that very reason, I’m already counting down the hours until we get more of her enchanted universe, maybe even more of Hannah, Ryan and Alex?! Here’s to hoping! *she begs with puppy dog eyes*<3 <3 <3 <3 <3

“There won’t be a day that passes without me telling you I love you.” I drag my thumb across her bottom lip. “There won’t be a night that passes without you feeling how much I love you.”

“You’re all mine.” He stalks after me and tackles me down to the bed. “And I, Hannah Bright, am all yours.”

Bonus olarak I'm-not-the-main-character-but-i-stole-the-show bir kız çocuğu.

"A grin slowly forms, and she breaks out in laughter, her head thrown back. My eyes lock on her throat, the smooth lines down the column positively begging for me to put my mouth there."

YILDIM.

Title: Leave Me Breathless
Author: Jodi Ellen Malpas

I have never uttered the words “ I do not like Jodi Ellen Malpas’s books” and I am not going to start now.

Leave Me Breathless is Jodi Ellen Malpas's latest standalone and it is lighter, fresher and has a healthy dose of humour which was unexpectedly good.

LMB-JEM-Teaser BT

This book is set in a small town so for those that LOVE a small town romance, this book is it.

October 16th

You are going to love Hannah and Ryan!
Hannah is stinking cute and adorable! Add into this mix   Ryan, a guy who is the quintessential dream boat…ladies and gentlemen…we have ourselves the most lovely couple!
The chemistry between these two are without a doubt page turner! Did I forget to mention the fact that Ryan has an outdoor shower…yes… the fact that he has an outdoor shower is important hahaha

Can we say a book is cute yet be absolutely sexy and exciting?
I don’t how Jodi Ellen Malpas does it but she manages to write a book that is all that plus mysterious, sexy as hell and so romantic.

Leave Me Breathless is a tad different from what we are normally use to but in a true JEM magic, she has captured my undivided attention once again with her new release.

For those who loved her book The Protector, like myself……the characters Jake and Cami make a few cameos…and let me tell you, this girl couldn’t stop smiling.

I absolutely enjoyed reading Leave Me Breathless.

I’ve been going back and forth about my thoughts and about what to rate this book. While it was better for me than any other book that JEM has written, I didn’t really find anything special about it.

This was a typical story of a woman with a secret and she falls for a man in the town she’s hiding in. While there was the suspense and the angst between the couple, I was still waiting for the story to actually suck me into it. Most of this book was Hannah hiding secrets and the day to day building romance between her and Ryan.

I must say that Ryan is the best love interest that I’ve read from her. Don’t even get me started on Jesse Ward. Ryan was considerate of Hannah, and not just that. He was patient, caring, and was more concerned for her than himself. I love that he was willing to give so much of himself even though he knew she was hiding things.

All in all, I just feel very meh about it. It’s a book that didn't really move me at all and is very forgettable. However, it was the first book I read from here where I didn’t cringe while reading and wasn’t full of toxic love interests.

Since “This Man” Jodie Ellen Malpas has been a “Go-To” Author for me – her writing is always flawless. I have always felt that she creates two very different story settings – either her male leads are Alpha to the core or the female leads are unconventional. Either way, her characters are always so well developed it almost hurts to leave them when the book ends.

“Leave me BREATHLESS” as Standalone follow up / spin-off from “The Protector” is no different.

Ryan and Hannah are great characters and well written –yet this time for the first time ever the characters were outrun by the story setting. Ms. Malpas created such an utterly charming small town that I feel the need to move there myself. I could see almost all the places while I was reading about them. And if this book is ever chosen to be filmed like “The Protector” was – I wish the crew the best of luck finding the places to film – as they seem almost as important as the characters at times.

The plot of the book is not unique but told in a typical “JEM-ish” way that makes it fresh for readers – still, there were a few moments where I wondered about certain things because it felt as if the author was trying to find a different style. Also, some strings in the plot were still open – ok strings sound big they were tiny really and probably I am the only one in the whole world overthinking things again - but still in total, I am wondering if there was more plot? Did I overlook anything? Misunderstood something? Are more standalones in that series to come?

In total it feels like a more quiet book than the previous books by this author especially compared to “This Man”. While the setting was perfectly charming and the characters were great there was just a little something missing in it for me. I hope Ms. Malpas will forgive me for saying that and I hope she knows I adore her writing.

Following the story the readers will also meet the characters from “The Protector” again so there will be spoilers as to what happened in that book but there is no need to read the story before reading this one – this is just a warning to those who do not want to have spoilers and still want to read the previous book.

Lovers of “The Protector” will also love “Leave me BREATHLESS” of that, I am pretty sure and I would recommend reading both in the right order. As for me, I hope there will be another book in that series that gives me those tiny details I was looking for but it might be that it was left open on purpose because not everything needs to be black and white.

3.5 ⭐'s

I was excited to read another book by JEM so imagine my surprise when I realized how much this book is like the Julia Robert's movie (and the book), Sleeping With The Enemy!

It's frustrating to say the least...not that it isn't good, it's just that I've come to expect so much more from someone who came up with Jesse Ward.

Ryan is friends and works with Jake from The Protector. Ryan decides he's had enough of the security business and moves back to his small hometown in the middle of nowhere. That's where he literally runs into Hannah.

She has him speechless from the beginning. Free minded and messy, she has intrigued him like no other.

Hannah's feeling the draw as well but is in turmoil over what action she should or should not take. You see, Hannah has many secrets.

I enjoyed Ryan...he was sweet and always there for Hannah which was refreshing. However, they were always rolling around in the dirt or lake water and I didn't always find that sexy. 😉

Ryan has a daughter, Alex, and I really loved their relationship and the relationship that grows between Alex and Hannah.

There's some crazy drama but fortunately, things end well.

I read The Controversial Princess and was hooked on JEM from there, so when the opportunity to read her gem again, I was like heck yeah!!

I must say that even though this was different from her previous books, IMO, I still got lost in Hannah & Ryan's story. Hannah running from her past & Ryan wanting a break from his "never know what will happen" kind of job. Hannah having a creative and free spirit was different to Ryan's always needing the next adrenaline hit but the one thing they both had in common was the intense chemistry. Hannah being careful not to give away hints of her past made Ryan work harder to figure her out because he was all in. And let's not forget Alex- Ryan's daughter- sassy 10 year old going on 20. I thought I had it figured out yet I was very mistaken. Be prepared to get lost and pay close attention because you might miss a clue or two. Kara~ 4 Mysterious Stars

This was a boring, unoriginal, predictable story.

Found it really hard to get into. I've read a few of this author's books but this didn't even seem like her writing.

We get the heroes POV but JEM seems to be one of those authors who feels the need to have the hero constantly swear so he sounds like a male POV. It got a bit boring plus he's not very alpha male.

2,5 Estrellas.

No he sentido que me envolviese.

This is Romantic Suspense. I felt the characters took a little bit to really like, but I did enjoy the characters. I found the suspense to be ok, and the romance was cute and steamy at times. I found parts of this book not to flow really well, and it was a little jumpy and hard to follow at times. I also guess all the twists and turns in this book before they were revealed.
