“El misterio de las botas mágicas” is an outstanding book in the series. The reason this book stands out from the rest of the series, is because of the plot of the story. Starting the tale like no other, meeting one of the best soccer stars in history of this small town in Sevilla.
The story starts by this huge soccer star gifting Pakete, the main character, a pair of his magical boots that seem to grant incredible abilities to whoever that wears them. As the team navigates through the season, winning game after game, and Pakete absolutely dominating the show with his old but magical boots.
Naturally this raised the attention of other teams as they also wanted a spot to fly into Tenerife to play “The Giants.”
This caused another team trying to steal the boots, and after a long conflict the boots were dropped in a river, never to be seen again.
After this, Pakete lost his confidence and started to struggle when facing opponents, as he was missing easy shots, and not playing at the same level as he was before he lost the “magical boots”.
When they were heading into the last game of the season, to see who was going to go home in tears, and who was going to fly to the beautiful island of Tenerife. Pakete found out, that the “Magical” boots he once wore, were actually replicas, and were never really magical, it was just the confidence he had in himself when he played in them. Therefore, the soccer star that gifted the boots to Pakete was found to be a scam artist.
But the reason I enjoyed this book so much was because in the final game of the season, Pakete finally believed in himself, and didn't have to depend on the boots, but on his ability. After he regained his confidence Pakete scored the last goal of the season winning them the trip to Tenerife.
In this book we saw, how the main character, developed throughout the plot of the story, and people who can seem as great people that fight for your soccer team, can actually just put on a facade, and just want to harm you.
