“The first and second use of a Dreammare’s powers are the most dangerous. The first is pleasant and a preview of the power the Dreammare possesses. The second is pain.”

On the night of her eighteenth birthday, Scarlett gets thrust into another realm in the worst way possible; near-death.

Not the way she would’ve wanted to be introduced to the home of the Dreamers but there she was in Ever Realm; where supernatural beings called Dreamers keep Nightmares in line and from terrorizing human minds.

It didn’t sound bad being a Dreamer but when Scarlett finds out she’s a part of something more, it becomes a revelation that pushes her closer and closer to the edge. While navigating the Realm’s in’s and out’s, Scarlett will learn there’s more to what lies beneath its starry surface and armor-clad people.

Between Ever Realm’s residency of gruesome creatures, secrets, and a mysterious yet captivating closed-off leader, her struggle to find herself will be one Nightmare of a ride...

Arc kindly provided for an honest review

First off, this book? The plot? The concept? Like nothing I’ve read before.

The world J. Clarice created is phenomenal and mind blowing. While reading this story I felt like I was playing a movie and I couldn’t wait to the end and have all my answers but also I didn’t want it to end.

Our heroine Scarlett is reaching the majority of age and one night everything she knew about herself changed. She is thrust into a whole new world and with that comes many challenges and revelations.

This girl is beyond strong, sassy and a royal badass. Her character growth is unbelievable and the fact that she never apologizes for being herself. She’s that type of heroine that I love in books.

It took me three days to finish just because I didn’t want to leave this world. This dream. 👀✨💕

Besides all of this, ST is filled with suspense, secrets and and so much action and funny moments that it made this read so enjoyable.

No unnecessary drama, and the story centers the heroine finding her voice and place in this new “world”.

I wish I could say more but I don’t want to spoil the read for anyone.

I am stunned.

Way to go girl, this book was everything I never knew I needed.

This book surprise me so much.

First all I’m not a big fan of Fantasy, I do read it but not very often, but this book trap me like spiderwebbed and holly s... won’t let me go, I found my self reading until past midnight even knowing that I need to wake up early to go to my work, I was looking like a zombie and counting the hours to finished and get home to keep reading.

This is a debut novel for this author but you could never guessed that because everything is so well writing that is close to impossible to imagine such a thing.

The author create a world so captivating with characters very well constructed that is imposible not to get caught for each of them.

The chapters are so precisely where the previous end that you never loose track of what’s going on.

Scarlett discover on her eighteen birthday a secret that turn and shake her world around, and as the story developed will see not just how she grows on knowledge but also the suffer and pain that her new powers come with.

Is in this world where she finds Cain, one of the most powerful dreamers and something else (y’all find out when you read the book). Let’s just say that they’re not big fan of each other at the beginning, or so they think so because the feelings I got every time I read something about them is impossible to not noticed. So I was very impatient when I keep turning pages and “nothing” happens between this two and then I started panicking because that just means that this book won’t end well and with a HEA like I love to read.

I won’t spoiler the ending, is heartbreaking but is so well planned and different that I’m still debating if I loved or hate (just kidding) the author for write something like this.

Side note: I’m not be happy until J. Clarice give me a second part with a HEA!!!

Very well played author, you really caught me and keep me trapped from start to finish.

I received an ARC on exchange of my honest review.
Thank you so much.

Scarlett discovers on her 18th birthday that she is not like other humans.
She is a Dreamer, destined to keep Nightmares from tormenting humans. She travels to a different Realm, a complete new society to call home, and starts her training as a Dreamer. But shortly after this revelation, it turns out that even within the Dreamers, she is not like the others.

The writing could be more refined, but this is a debut novel after all, so it's not that much of a big deal. And when it comes to writing, the learning and growing never stops.

I enjoyed the world the author created for this book. I read it as kind of a fantasy-Sci fi mix world in the Stars, and I like that aesthetic (with a hint of Power Rangers since everyone has armor in a color fitting their personality).

And I liked that when Scarlett discovers what sets her apart from the other Dreamers, she has moments of great lust for destruction and for power because of the battle in her soul. I think that gave her character an interesting edge from the beginning and add to her development to the end of the book.

There's also people coming together despite their differences and difficult pasts, a final showdown that leaves everything in ashes and a fun, old school, dramatic fantasy twist:

I was hooked right from the beginning of this debut paranormal novel. That opening scene is fire and it doesn’t let up after that.

Super interesting concepts of the world like the “dream plane” and other creatures. Creepy, cringy (in a good way), crazy, and cool. Multiple twists that are well thought out.

Well-written and you wouldn’t know that it’s a debut novel. The tension and terror in action scenes is on point. Multiple times I got nervous enough to start eating my “reading snack” faster and faster and had to stop myself.

The only thing preventing me from giving Sweet Dreams 5 stars is that the ending seemed quick as far as someone in the battle being “defeated” quickly. With the tension and terror being so well written throughout and creating an incredible build-up, I would have liked a longer ending action sequence/battle. Other than that, I liked all the developments at the end.

The final battle and ending did make me wonder what will happen in book 2 and made me want to start it ASAP instead of switching to another book/series so that’s a plus.

Luckily, I was chosen as an ARC reader/reviewer for both books so I was able to start right away after finishing book 1. Thank you J. Clarice!

I received an ARC copy from the author J. Clarice free of charge. It was my choice to read and I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

”She hollowly laughed as she shook her head at her new reality. ‘Sweet Dreams, Scarlett.’”

J. Clarice, Sweet Dreams

On her eighteenth birthday, Scarlett finds out that she is a Dreamer. Dreamers are beings that protect people from Nightmares. In the Ever Realm, Scarlett learns about Dreamer society. As she begins her training, Scarlett starts to realize that she’s a pawn in a much bigger game.

The beginning of the book is so aggravating as a majority of the time, her parents are keeping Scarlett in the dark. This secrecy results in Scarlett feeling isolated and confused. It’s the lack of support after Scarlett finds out about her status in the Ever Realm that creates a suffocating atmosphere.

Even as Scarlett receives answers to these unanswered questions, the answers add another level of dread. There is no good news for Scarlett; instead, her life gets turned upside down, and it only gets worse from there.

Due to the abrupt and cliffhanger ending, I will be on the lookout for the sequel.

Mini Rant/ Spoiler

First off, I did not like the ending. Not that it was terrible, but the fact that Cain had to go down with him. If Scarlett and Cain are partners, how in the heck did she not realize that it wasn’t Cain? Why were twins the last thing that came to her mind? Also, is the sequel going to be Scarlett finding a way to get Cain back? Like, she can’t pull a Winchester brother move and just leave him there, right?

Second, the villain couldn’t wait a year? Like, Scarlett’s life did go from worse to worser in a matter of chapters. With the ending, I feel like Scarlett will just break down, especially if she doesn’t get Cain.

In the end, the book is a decent read despite the overwhelming emotional roller coaster.

I was kindly gifted an eARC of Sweet Dreams from the author J. Clarice in exchange for an honest review.
It has taken a while for me to get round to this book as I have been very busy with work and very behind on my reviews! So sorry for the wait, JC, but here it is. :)

I really loved the concept of Sweet Dreams.

When our MC, Scarlett takes a nap on the night of her eighteenth birthday she wakes up in The Ever Realm. We dive in to the dreamer/nightmare story very quickly (actually almost immediately), and although I was happy to get straight in to the story. I would have enjoyed more world building at the beginning of the book.
I really connected with the concept of Sweet Dreams, as I empathised with the Dreamers. I grew up having horrendous night terrors, I used to sleepwalk and I now sleep talk and experience lucid dreaming. Sometimes I have a control over my dreams, and am aware that I am asleep, and reading this book brought me into a fantasy world similar to my own nighttime consciousness.

I loved Scarlett. She is a bad ass MC, and she was likeable for the the entire time, which made the story even more enjoyable. She was a great heroin, and a strong female role model for sure!

I am really interested to see where Sweet Dreams goes in the future, because I feel the possibilities are endless for the Ever Realm! I hope that there will be more, because I feel like it is only the beginning of this new universe.

My only criticism is that I wish the first book had been longer with more bulk- I could of happily read another 100-150 pages within this novel.

Overall, a really fresh take on fantasy with a unique plot (which is rare these days!).

This is the story of Scarlett who is pushed into Ever Realm on her eighteenth birthday. In the world of Ever Realm, the supernatural beings called Dreamers keep Nightmares in line and from terrorizing human minds. Scarlett will learn there's more to what lies beneath its starry surface and armor-clad people. She realises she's a pawn in a much bigger conspiracy (but will she choose to remain that?) Between Ever Realm's residency of gruesome creatures, secrets, and a mysterious yet captivating leader, Scarlett's struggle to find herself will be one Nightmare of a ride.

As per the last statement, no the book wasn't a nightmare at all! I mean I just loved the book! It was such a fresh concept. A world that revolves around dreams and nightmares? That's freaking amazing.

I personally have a weird relationship with dreams. Like, I never get any dreams just like the Scarlett. For me, it's like pitch darkness, time passes and I wake up. Plus I am 18 years old too! You see the coincidences! So you see how eerily similar it was. For me, personally, that was the moment I was completely committed to the book.

Moreover, it's hard to believe that it's a debut novel! The writing, the world building, the character sketches, everything was done very well. I enjoyed every moment of the book. I want to say so many things about this book but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. If you love reading fantasy then you should pick up this book and make yourself a part of this wonderful and thrilling world.

Once Again, I would like to thank the author for bestowing me with the opportunity to read and review her work and having immense patience because I kept her waiting for a long time. I just hope she doesn't keep me waiting for the sequel XD

First of all, thank you so much to the author for providing me with an ecopy of this book to read and review. I genuinely enjoyed reading it, and am very excited to read the sequel. I binged this book in one day and wished it had been longer! The thing that originally captivated me about this book was the incredibly unique concept. I was super interested and curious to learn more about the dreamers and their world. I was very impressed with how unique the entire concept of this book was, there are so many cliche YA novels but this is not one of them. The world building was also super immpressive for a debut novel. The only flaw was that I felt like it was a little rushed. However, it was still vivid and easy to understand.

I loved the characters in this book. J. Clarice has done an incredible job of creating characters that you can root for and relate to. Quality character building is something that really influences my opinion on any book, and in Sweet Dreams it was amazing. Scarlett was an incredible protagonist. I loved how powerful she was but how she still seemed like a normal eighteen year old girl. She was so funny, sassy, and badass. She also had flaws and fears but fights through them and never apologizes for who she is which is what I love about her.

Overall this was a sunning debut book with relatable characters, incandescant world building, and jaw-dropping magic! My favorite quote was at the ending: "She hollowly laughed as she shook her head at her new reality. ‘Sweet Dreams, Scarlett.’” 😏

3.5 stars, round up for goodreads.

Disclaimer - this book was sent to me for review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was extremely excited to receive this book as this synopsis drew me in right away. I think this is such a unique world and haven't really read anything like it!

In this book we are following Scarlett who discovers that she is a dreamer, or someone that protects the world from nightmares in the Ever Realm. Scarlett is the chosen one, but what this means we must find out through out our reading experience.

I think that the thing I liked most about this book was the concept. As mentioned earlier I have never read anything like it.

However, I do believe that the pacing was very rushed - I never felt fully connected to the characters because everything happened so fast. It gave me Fantastic Four vibes where the entire plot build up happens in like the first 8 minutes of the movie. I wish we had gotten more world building.

I also felt like Scarlett was too good too fast, I understand she is supposed to be a powerful dreamer - but everyone has to take time to learn.

Overall, the concept tilted me towards a higher rating and I would like to continue the series... I would just like more worldbuilding, more details, and more flushed out characters!

Disclaimer: this review is entirely my opinion and I understand that others have expressed theirs very differently in their reviews.
.
This story follows Scarlett Blackdall, a freshly-turned 18 year old who finds out she is a dreamer, able to walk the planes of earth and the dream realm. But she isn’t the only one. There is a war between dreamers and nightmares that threatens to spill into the real world.

I loved the premise, I thought it was very clever and not one I’ve come across before. I love the idea of being able to walk in the land of Dreams, get super powers and a new super suit too! Unfortunately that’s where the positives ended for me. I really struggled with this writing style which is advertised as YA but came across as very early teen-fic, that’s just too young for me. The authorial voice was very immature (in terms of content, language choice and syntax) and the dialogue was really cringey at times to the point I found myself skipping bits so I could finish the book quicker.

Overall, this was not the one for me unfortunately.

Honest Review of Sweet Dreams

⭐⭐⭐

*Includes slight spoilers*

This concept of a book is very interesting! I haven't read about the concept of dreaming and nightmares a lot so this was new for me. It was executed very nicely with a good world building. I tend to understand world building not that fast, but I got a very good basic overview of it during the beginning of the book. In this world you have dreamers and dreammares. Dreamers are soldiers who deal with nightmares. The dreammares are a mix of dreamers and nightmares, and are a not common. They have special powers that the dreamers do not have.

The book started off with the POV from the King. As a reader I was very intrigued. The king is very mysterious and so far comes across as an intimidating man. His POV is one of the most fun to read because you get a full insight of the 'villain'. The protagonist, Scarlett, is a headstrong girl who is new to the world of dreamers and nightmares. She finds out that she is a dreammare and she has to learn how to control her new powers and how to fit in in this new world. The King is after her and she will do everything she can to save her new found world.
I enjoyed reading from Scarlet's POV as well! She is brave and witty, but she also dives into situations without thinking it through. This bothered me sometimes.

The story is fast paced and this fitted the book. However, this was sometimes also confusing since so much was happening. Also it felt like there were different POV in one chapter which made it more complicated for me to understand it. The fighting scenes were a bit complex for me to understand, since it was fast paced and a lot was happening. But maybe it also has to do with me not completely understanding the magic system of the book.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read! Thank you J. Clarice for sending me a digital arc of your book!

So sorry it took me so long to read and review! I am definitely sad it took me so long cause this book is amazing! This is a debut novel as well!

This was such a unique world and I was so enraptured by it! A realm of dreamers that control nightmares. I've always been fascinated by dreams and nightmares they are so strange (well mine are lol).

Scarlett the MC is pretty amazing! She's just turned 18 and ready to go out into the world when she's thrust into the dream realm and told of her powers. She now has more training to do.

The world building and characters were so amazing! I was very invested in the training and the journey of Scarlett and her Dreamer friends. I love getting to follow and learn with them.

Though that ending, what a major twist!

Thank you for the gifted e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

** The author provided me with a copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review!**

First of all, full disclosure, I enjoy physical books more than ebooks, so my opinion would be perhaps a little bit different if I read the paperback!

I enjoyed this book! I loved the imagination that went in to this story, the idea is very original. I hope the author keeps writing and keeps her imagination alive, because the creatures she brought to life were very cool!

I liked our main character, she was pretty cool, but I didn't personally like her love interest much, but each to their own on their interests! :P

Where to begin with this review. I actually had to sit on this one a few days and let it marinate in my brain. This fantasy novel was exceptionally well done. It covered so much and yet, I still longed for more…so much more. J. Clarice comes out swinging with this debut novel. I could not put it down! From the very first words in the prologue, until the very end, and even after. It consumed me, as a good book should. I was concerned to fall asleep, would I be caught up in this battle occurring in the dream world?
Scarlett – what a fabulous heroine. She has grit, resilience, love, compassion, heart, strength…I could go on, but you get the point. She gained so much and lost even more. I really hope that J. Clarice writes more in this world. I have questions I am itching to know the answer to. I do not want to spoil it, but this is a heroine that every girl should read about. It is a heroine that shows you don’t have to be some person on a pedestal but just a girl who has all of this internal turmoil and chooses to fight every day than let the fear of the unknown win.
Jayden – she is a great sidekick and friend to Scarlett. I love how her personality is so different and complements Scarlett allowing a great connection to grow. Their friendship I hope is one that we can see in the future being stronger than ever.
Cher, Roger & Jenna – Scarlett’s family took me for a ride in this story. I have and had so many questions. Hence why I want more LOL. I feel like Scarlett only began to hit the tip of the iceberg. There is so much more to be revealed.
Cain – This was a surprising character. J. Clarice kept me on the edge of my seat with Cain. I can’t spoil, but I feel his journey is just beginning since meeting Scarlett.
The Dreamers, Dreammares, and Nightmares all have their parts to play including every side character you meet. I think that is a gift this author has, is that no part in this story is meaningless. Every single character you meet has a role and piece of the puzzle that makes up this novel.
I think this is one of the best stories of 2020 for me. It can be read by any older teen, adult, and anyone who loves fantasy or wants to try fantasy reads for the first time. It will not disappoint you. The plot was done exceptionally well, the storyline flowed, there weren’t gaps in the subplots, or main plot. The story arc moved, it was fluid and kept you engaged as a reader long after you closed your book. I want to own a paperback of this story. Can we also talk about the cover? It was artistically done and tied into the story flawlessly.
This blogger/reader gives it 5 glorious pointe shoes🩰! Highly recommend this read it will leave you in a trance and trying to swipe your kindle to the left to read more. In my opinion this is a new author to watch out for! As I’m writing this, I want to read it again. Sweet Dreams ;).

Favorite lines:
“Prejudices need to be put aside and we need to start anew. Times have called for change.”
“It’s saddening, how something so beautiful comes to an end so soon. But beauty can’t be forgotten, it must be cherished because it will soon rise again.”

„Sweet Dreams“ by J. Clarice is an exciting fantasy novel about a girl whose life is turned upside down when she finds out that she can travel to the dream world “Ever Realm” in her sleep.

(Beware of potential spoilers)
This book was a really delightful read. The introduction to the story and the fantasy world happened fast. The main character Scarlett is a very likeable whirlwind of a girl, she’s really brave and confident and strong. In the school of the Ever Realm she first gets to know her new friends which are also very likeable. Later she meets her love interest Cain who is extremely handsome (black hair and dark past alert) mysterious and withdrawn. Over the course of the book they both get to know each other and fall in love with each other. Cain eventually opens up to Scarlett and they share some really sweet moments together. The relationship and the tension between them is perfectly written and very enjoyable.
The story is also extremely gripping and suspenseful. When Scarlett first arrives to the Ever Realm she has to adapt to her new life and trains constantly to prepare for the reoccurring attacks of the evil Nighmares. But there are more mysteries surrounding the folk of the Dreamer than she first thought and she starts to uncover one after another and even the ones about her own impossible powers. Mysteries, treason and plot twists accumulate when Scarlett finds out why the Nighmares want her dead and why the King of the Nightmares needs her powers for his evil deeds. But there also seems to be a mole within their own lines, a person very close to Scarlett. Together with her friends Scarlett must face the violent attacks of the Nightmares that also bring devastating loss with them. The story reaches its climax as Scarlett is once again betrayed by their loved ones and desperately fights for her own survival that ends with her having to make a heartbreaking sacrifice that nobody expected.

“Sweet Dreams” is an extremely suspenseful read. The story unfolds with mysteries and secrets and I couldn’t stop reading it. It is really hard to tell anything without heavily spoiling the plot but believe me when I say it was great. The love story is very sweet and beautiful, the losses break your heart and the ending left me shook. The fantasy world is a really great idea in my opinion and very well written. If you like a great YA Fantasy with romance, treason and mysteries this book is definitely for you.

*Review Copy kindly provided to me by the author - thank you J. Clarice*

I’m sitting between about 3.5 - 4 Stars with this one!

Scarlett has just turned 18 and prior to her 18th birthday she has never dreamt, not once! Then everything changes and she discovers that her family has been keeping a secret about who and what she really is! Scarlett is thrust into a fantasy world where she meets others like her and faces trials she never would have imagined possible, for Scarlett is a Dreamer and it is her duty to keep Nightmares from terrorising humans!

As others have commented, this was a really interesting and unique plot. I was immediately intrigued and excited to delve deeper into this story. There were many things I enjoyed about this; I liked that there was no prolonged or unnecessary drama or conflict for the sake of conflict, the pace (though sometimes a tiny bit rushed) moved along quickly which I personally like as long as it doesn’t detract from the story or character development, the concept and the cool plot twist towards the end part of the book that I actually didn’t figure out!

A few things arose that I think could have been improved or finessed; the world building was lacking, it was sometimes difficult for me to picture the landscape in which the characters were in. The writing was well done and well structured but it did often read at a very teenage level, particularly with the dialogue. These things did not lessen my enjoyment though.

This book definitely surprised me!

Thank you to @authorj.clarice who kindly gave me the opportunity to read their book. I wholeheartedly enjoyed reading this book and am feeling really positive about J. Clarice’s future works! I feel as though we have a new fantasy pro in the making!
-
This book sounded exactly like something I would be into! I love young adult fantasies and am so fascinated with the topic of dreams and so I was super excited to get stuck into this world! Whilst reading, I got a lot of Mortal Instruments vibes, so if you love works by Cassandra Clare, I have a feeling you'll like this!
-
Sweet Dreams gets straight into the story, you're thrust into the world of the Dreamers and are completely entranced in this new world to explore. From seeing Scarlett being baffled by this brand new world, to becoming a strong leader who has endured many knocks to the heart was really exciting to see.
-
The only thing I would have liked to have seen from this book is how Scarlett managed to juggle her Dreamer life with her real life as it’s only briefly touched on in the first book. There also isn’t much mention of what actually happens to the Dreamer’s physical bodies in the real world whilst they’re off in the Ever Realm. I'm hoping to find this out in possible future books to come!
-
The book rounds off nicely with an epic amount of action that’s fast paced and keeps you turning pages until you realise you’ve reached the end and wondering what on Earth happens next! I’m super excited to see what else is in store for Scarlett and I’ll be keeping an eye out for more work from J. Clarice. You should too!

The author provided me with an ARC of the book for my honest review.

The potential of this story is endless. The ideas and the world the author created are original and creative, a story line that is something that you haven't seen a ton of.

One thing that bugs me about stories like this though is the people going in blind, the family had a viable excuse to not tell her, but...it just happens so often in stories. I guess you could say I don't like that "trope". And when they come in after her 18th birthday and they clearly have something important to tell her and she says she wants to "freshen up" first...no one talks to their family that way really. I mean...why freshen up to talk to your family, and why would they believe that is what she is gonna do?

I'd be like, "No, I know you. You don't 'freshen up' you're gonna blow us off. Get back here this is important"

There is endless potential to this story, but I found myself unable to finish it...probably because I'm having an absolute crap reading month, and I'll need to revisit this book when my reading mojo is back. But I kept wanting to print out hard copies and make revisions to the language used...the way things were phrased. It was distracting, and so I put it down for now.

So much potential, will revisit later for sure.

Although Fantasy YA isn’t my strongest genre as a reader, I like it and have read lots of books. That said, I have to admit that this story surprised me, the first installment of The Dream Chronicles series. It’s something I had not seen before in this type of book. Ms. Clarice has been able to create a coherent and credible universe, demonstrating a great knowledge of the genre. Not only that, she has managed to present a very interesting proposal, with an attractive plot that flows smoothly, going in crescendo to the outcome of the story. And the end… Oh, my Goodness! What a cliffhanger this book has! The book has left me intrigued and asking for more of this story. An ending with too many questions that need answers (although all the loose ends are tied for this part of the series), but perfect at the same time.

With smart writing and flawless transitions between scenes and scenarios, Sweet Dreams is the best book I’ve read this year (until now).

I received a digital copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. Thank you J. Clarice for your trust.

I want to start off by stating the absolute fact that J. Clarice is impressive. This book had been brewing in her head since she was ten and she just went out and wrote the damn thing? And published it herself at eighteen years old? If that’s not setting a great example for other aspiring authors, then I don’t know what is.

Now on to the book.

When the author reached out to me and offered me a PDF in exchange for an honest review, the first thing I did was look up the book. The second thing I did was get totally sucked in by the concept. The idea that a group of people exist in a dreamscape and battle nightmares is one of the most unique fantasy concepts I’ve come across. I loved that the Dreamers were living double-lives, and that there were real risks and dangers in the Ever Realm (dream world). I do think it could have used some more focused world-building and stronger editing, but the bones of it are SO good.

Sweet Dreams is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, with twists and turns that you might not see coming and a protagonist you'll love. Without giving anything away, it ends on a very abrupt cliffhanger, so I'm guessing there will be a sequel. I think we'll definitely be seeing more novels from J. Clarice in the future and can't wait to see where her writing career takes her!

We've seen variations of Scarlett's origin before. An unlucky person comes across something they shouldn't, sitting on the border between life and death. These near-death experiences grant them new powers – and responsibilities.

Here's where things take a turn. Scarlett doesn't see ghosts – contrary to what previous tales would have us believe. She has entered the Ever Realm, where Dreamers and Nightmares are real. As a new Dreamer, Scarlett is now expected to step up and protect the world from these deadly Nightmares.

I can't get over how creative Sweet Dreams is! I adore it when a novel uses familiar tropes as a grounding point, but only so they can reach new heights. It's always a delight to see, and this novel was no exception.

Readers should be warned – when you sit down to read Sweet Dreams, you won't want to let it go. Or perhaps it's the book that won't let go of you. Either way, it will get stuck in your head; I can promise you that much!

If I’m being completely honest, this book was not what I was expecting. It was brilliantly written and I found myself wondering what would happen next.

Starting at the beginning, the book got straight to the point, hooking you from the very beginning. I felt very tied to the character and was very interested in the plot. I was very interested to know where the story was headed and as I kept reading, that feeling kept growing.

The different stages of the book all blended smoothly together, making the book overall an easy and fun read. I was super happy with how it turned out and loved the character development. Each character was built on through the story.

Overall, I loved this book from the very first sentence to the last. The storyline was brilliant and unique. I could picture the characters and settings vividly. It definitely deserved the five stars I gave it and I would recommend!

Being a debut novel for this author I was skeptical about the storyline and pacing of the overall plot before I started. But I was pleasantly wrong. The book is very well written from start to finish and it was so different to anything else that I have read before.

Throughout the book we follow our heroine Scarlett who is thrown into a whole new world filled with many new challenges and revelations.

It is hard for me to believe that this is a debut novel, as the world building, writing and character development is flawless. The concept of a world that revolves around dreams and nightmares is amazing and totally memorable.

I enjoyed every single chapter of this book and as an avid fantasy reader I will be recommending this book highly to all my friends and followers.

Thank you again to the author for giving me an ARC of this amazing book. Although I apologise for making you wait so long for my review! Thank you again

Everything changed on the night Scarlett turned 18. In addition to being part of the adult life, on Earth at least, she journeys in a new world where she is part of something more. A new reality sets the tone for this fantasy read!

Right from the get-go, readers are enveloped in the same confusion as Scarlett, craving for answers on what she is, and how she plays a greater role in Ever Realm’s battles against the king of the Dark Realm and the nightmares. Scarlett starts our timid and still unaware of everything going on around her, and who wouldn’t?

But as we get to meet new characters and uncover secrets, Scarlett’s powers become more evident, while she herself grows confident of her control over it.

The buildup of events in this story flows seamlessly and quick. There is not a page you will read that doesn’t leave you with the assurance of what happens next.

4 1/2 ⭐️s for this quick fantasy read!

The author kindly gifted me an eBook copy in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and the unique plot line of the Ever Realm. The fact that Nightmares are actually creatures who prey on humans in the dream world, and dreamers have to prevent them from becoming too powerful. The world building was quite beautiful, and after the first few chapters the pacing of the book picks up. It's an emotional rollercoaster for the main character Scarlett, and that builds the character development.

For this being her first book self published and at 18, I was very impressed. There is some room for improved with syntax and building on other aspects of the Ever Realm or even Earth.

Other than that, I adored the book and romance aspect. With the cliffhanger ending I look forward to seeing where the next book takes us!

It was outstanding. I loved from the beginning and I could understand scarlett fully. I felt like I am one of them watching the things that are happening instead of just reading them. I am eagerly waiting for the second book which would surely blow my senses out of my mind. The fight scenes was wonderful and sometimes my guesses became true. When I started it, I got nightmares and was terrified of it. I thought of stop reading it and then pushed it out of my head. I usually never get dreams because of books, but it definitely did. How could you end it in such a way?? OMG!!! I am having a heartache with the way it ended. I wanted to read its prequel soon. Scarlett and Cain's chemistry was overwhelming. They're perfectly made for each other. I am waiting to read about them soon.

I firstly want to thank the author for sending me a copy of Sweet Dreams in exchange for an honest review.

I was really drawn in by the premise of this book! The main character Scarlett is a dreamer, able to live and interact in both the real world and the dream realm. Once she discovers her ability on her 18th birthday she is drawn into a war between dreamers and nightmares.

The premise was very unique to me and I really loved the potential for this book. Unfortunately, I found the execution of the plot clunky and was difficult to read. The world building felt rushed and I kept having to remind myself who was who and as a lover of character driven stories I wanted more characterisation in the initial setup of the novel.
