The previous book I’m With You didn’t really work for me. While I liked Shane, Ramona was just too hard work. Some books/characters work, others don’t. Normally that would have been the end of Shasta but...the highlight of that book was the brief meet between River and Max. That made this book a must read.

Yet again I absolutely loved River. I mean seriously what’s not to like?
But I struggled with Max.

This authors books are always character driven. Sarky humour and sparkling conversations. She writes damaged characters very well.

But on this case I found myself skimming to get to the story.
The characters just weren’t enough. It’s not often this happens but it happened here.

The reviews are all brilliant so I’m going to assume it’s me not the book.

I'm not going to lie the second I read about Maxine and River in book one I knew their book would be amazing and I was not wrong. These two couldn't be more different or have so much going against the two of them as a couple but thats one of the reasons I wanted them to work so badly. Maxine hasn't had an easy life she's had men in and out of her life all but one were bad news and her mother and sister were indifferent to her. Then she met a group of people and they became her whole life. Best friends who loved her unconditionally and believed in her completely. Their belief in her is what gave her the courage to follow her dream.

One of these friends is how she comes face to face with River and he terrifies her. Everything he is and all he represents is what she wants nothing to do with. Now that's she's back in town it becomes harder and harder to not see River and it might just be getting harder to lie about her feelings for him. River grew up spoiled and loved and cherished. Now the president of the local MC River never guessed he would find his dream girl because of his best friends love life. Now that he's met Maxine no one else will do and he can't get her out of his mind. So when she moves back to town River can't stay away any longer.

What Maxine was sure she knew soon becomes things she's not so sure about and River becomes someone a lot more complicated as well as someone she seems to quickly be falling in love with. A man who is president of a dangerous MC is also a man who defends her and other women, wants nothing but the best for her and treats her with care. How can Maxine not find herself giving her heart to him and wanting to spend her life with him. But nothing between these two people is easy and with their world around them on edge their story will be a bumpy road.

I loved this book but lets be real I love all of Bijou Hunter books, she's just one of those authors that does it for me in every way. Whenever I read her books I am hook and you can guarantee a few things will happen in all her books I read. I laugh(duh and honestly I don't just laugh I get weird looks from my family because i'm laugh so hard), I will be sad to finish the book but at the same time I will be excited about the epilogues the entire time I am reading her books. I will love her hero, she does an incredible job writing alpha jealous characters who fall heard for their lady. And I will lover her heroine though they may be different Bijou does a greta job making her heroines likable and interesting.

This is a great book two in a series I have fallen in love with. I can't wait for the next book in this series. Bijou has done a great job creating this world with so many diverse interesting characters. She's done such a great job with this elaborate world she created that just gets more and more interesting with each book she writes. In this time of craziness Bijou is bringing just what I need a great escape.

River Majors knew that Maxine Leroux was going to be his, even when she left town and came back turning him down he knew that he would do anything to gain her trust. After a year of waiting River makes his move and he has to navigate his way around Maxine who is a bit of an overthinker. River though has nothing but patience when it comes to Maxine, even when the threat to his MC is coming within his own club. When a treat to Maxine comes though River ignites his fury where it is truly needed. Can Maxine let go of her fears in order to have a future with River?

There is so much more to this story that I had not expected, particularly with Maxine's family. River is like a bear in a china shop when it comes to Maxine, but he is so sweet to her it makes you swoon through out the book. Liked River a lot, he was just what I was expecting and was thrilled how his character developed. My Silver Lining is full of humor, sizzle, and action. Can't wait for the next book.

And the prize for the weirdest biker book ever goes to My Silver Lining by bijou hunter.
Who speaks like this? In real life, OR fiction? (And what is even remotely interesting about not having a brain?)

The heroine has issues, the holes bit that she kept repeating through the book was disgusting, the heroine in fact is neither cute nor adorable, she’s pretty disgusting, and there was zero amount of growth in her character through the book. He hero comes across as wimpy rather than badass. We’re kept being hit on the head that he’s badass and sharp but at the very best he’s pretty basic. The villains are douchebags. Zero action, zero plot, so many zeroes. Mentally regressing people with deep psychological issues, zero amount of anything happening with them.

I wouldn’t recommend this book to my enemies and wish good reads had negative star points so that I could accurately express my rating of it.

I received an arc of this story from the author for a honest review

My Silver Lining is the second book in the Reaper's MC (Shasta Series) by Bijou Hunter. In this book we come back to Shasta and see the unfolding of River the Reaper's Shasta MC, new President and Max(Maxine) the cook's story. River has been waiting for Maxine to come back to Shasta, he felt something for her that he had never felt for anyone but she moved away to work in Nashville. At the time he felt like he had no choice but to let her go. Maxine is back in Shasta and starting over with a new restaurant and a new life but this time she thinking “small” because she believes that works better for her. River has not been able to get over Max and feels its time to make his move, this story was a mixture of River and Max's love story, and the next phase in the Reaper's plan to get rid of the remaining trouble makers from the Skullz MC. Once again Bijou has found two people who's qualities compliment and support the other. This was fun, with a bit of serious thrown in but as always I am left feeling happy that everyone is getting their happy ending. I was also super excited towards the end of the story when hints about Shelby and Goliath's romance were showing signs of a new story.

Well, River had a lot to overcome to win his girl. He wasn't dissuaded by that, though. He was determined to have her.
I loved being able to laugh at these characters' silliness in the midst of serious situations. 4 stars

It was good until it got a bit ridiculous. Not enough angst for me to care. I think their one friend from the band was with everyone - literally. I am not sure how it was not uncomfortable.

I’m a sucker for big bad H’s that show their h’s the ultimate vulnerability. I didn’t expect River to be one of those men but when he gets on his knees to hug Max I was swooning so hard. That scene will always be one I remember. He isn’t 100% sure how to get through to Max but he does a damn fine job of it.

The h’s in this series have been through some stuff. Maxine has trauma and she definitely has an anxiety disorder. She pushes through it even though it’s a battle and I can definitely respect that. I feel like this quote came right out of my own noggin.

As Maxine reaches for her glasses, I feel her putting up barriers. She looks at me and really holds my gaze. She needs me to understand. “It’s important to be aware of what people might think. How they might react. You have to plan for the possibilities. If you don’t, bad things can happen, and you can’t take them back.”

While I swooned for River the thing I liked most was the mystery. There were a lot of moving parts and I was truly surprised by the reveal. I also LOVE how Shelby and Taylor are seen as equals/advisors. They’re smart and hold their own physically without being over the top bitchy ball busters. Shelby’s book is next and I’m preparing myself to be HIGHLY amused.

Oh my goodness this author's novels just keep getting better. From the very first page this novel reached out and grabbed me and would not let go until the very last page. I loved it. I loved River and Max together. I loved the dialogue and banter. I just can't enough of these characters. I love when a novel can make you laugh out loud in public, almost bring you to tears and finally leave you with a happy heart and a smile on your face. This novel checked all of my boxes. I did not want this novel to end. I loved checking in with characters from the previous series, I can't get enough of Vaughn and Raven and their other children. I absolutely loved it! This novel was just what I needed during times like these, it gave me an escape from the real world and I loved it!

My Silver Lining is the second book in the Reapers Mc: Shasta Chapter series. I love series and all of the Reapers Mc books! This is River and Maxine’s story. Rider fell for Maxine from the first time he saw her. She has had trauma in her life and suffers with anxiety, so River has to be patient with her. She’ll put up barriers that he’ll have to work his way through so they can get their hea. River is still working his way through the remaining Skullz Mc members weeding out the trouble makers. He’s making the Reapers Mc: Shasta Chapter the best he can! I loved the action packed story full of drama, suspense, mystery and romance! I loved it! I can’t wait for Goliath and Shelby’s story! Thank you Bijou for once again for writing such fantastic books!

Every time!
Every time I read a Bijou Hunter book I think they can’t get any better ... then I read the next one. And my mind is blown. I loved River and Maxine. Reaper love at first sight. Swoon! River Majors is gorgeous, confident and the president of the Reaper’s Shasta chapter. Way out of Max Leroux’s league. But River is smitten with his Maxine - can’t call her Max because of the pet pig. LOL. And he is so amazing with her. He helps make her the best version of herself and accepts all of her quirks, while she loves both the beautiful hippie and the killer sides of River. So, so good!
I CANNOT WAIT for the next book - Shelby and Goliath?? Amazeballs!

My Silver Lining is River's book. River is Vaughn and Raven's son. He is the president of the Shasta Chapter of the Reapers MC. Each book after the Damaged series just gets better and better. Bijou Hunter not only gives us love at first site "Reaper" style but also a glimpse into the gritty world of the MC. The sign of a good book is when you dread the book ending because you loved it that much. I can hardly wait for her next book!

Bijou Hunter is and will always be the Queen of Snark.

I wanted to like this so badly.
The heroines are too fragile and screwed up and whatever other adjectives can explain this level of despondency and insecurity in these women. I just cannot relate and its getting to me.
The sameness of the characters. The writer's style of writing does not vary not even a tiny bit. At this point, there is no variation between the books excepting the names of characters.

If Shelby and Goliath's story is not up to par, I may have to part ways with this once beloved writer😒

It was alright

The book was alright i feel it dragged on i also feel like it spent more time on Riveres past conquest one of them being Max’s best friend who was a sweet butt ew! and Max(Maxines) uh anxiety? How old are they anyways i was thinking River was in his 30s and maybe Maxine in her 20’s but they honestly didn’t act their age much and their ages wernt stayed so. I did like them together but their was much left to be desired i wished their relationship was filled out more . I still did like the book i like bijou hunters style

Brilliant read

I couldn't put the book down from chapter one. Max is vulnerable that you just feel so sorry for her and things that happened to her just breaks your heart. Then you get river strong macho alpha male who just wants to make thing's better for max. Loved this story the drama and exciting rift along the way building up and you just know River and the crew going to sort it. Brilliantly paced can't wait for the next book.

You can read as standalone but I would suggest you read previous books in the series.

As always anything that Bijou Hunter writes is completely amazing. I don’t know how this author keeps coming up with these brilliant stories, but she does. I love these stories of our original Reapers children. The women and men they fall for remind me so much of their parents. I also thoroughly enjoy getting a peek of our originals (the parents) and what is happening with them. Good job Ms. Hunter keep it coming! Also, I would love to know more about The Executioners!

River! The bad boy with a gooey center. The hottie with the body. And though he knows how attractive he is, he isn’t grossly obnoxious about it with Maxine. Maxine is uptight with years of pent up issues and anxieties. She needs someone like River to love her as she is so she can learn to do the same. The story is so good. River is a man with a plan and runs his town with an iron fist. I can’t wait for the next Shasta story! You rock Bijou!

I’ll admit I like to think of myself as Bijou’s biggest fan. I love everything she writes.

I love the whole quiet insecure nerdy girl and hard mc bad boy romance. I just love it!
And this one didn’t disappoint me, what You get is drama mayhem and romance with a whole lot of humour thrown in.

It was great to see past characters make an appearance and I can’t wait to read book 3 👏🏻👏🏻

I love this author.Whenever I need to escape the everyday life I just pick up 1 of her books.I'm often laughing while reading her books. Then I have to read a paragraph over again to make sure I read what I read. The characters have just enough snark In them. Keep up the good work !!!! You're 1 of my favorite authors.

Like Visiting Family💞

Whenever I read a Reaper's book by Bijou Hunter, I feel like I'm getting to visit family. They may be a motorcycle club and into some illegal things, but their crazy banter, strange and unique characters, and the love they have for family makes her books great reads. This is Max and River's story and it has all the elements needed to draw the reader in and keep them turning the page. There is conflict, mystery, romance, humour and so much more. I recommend this book and can't wait for the next in the series.

Over it!

Am seeing a trend in Hunter's writing style with her recent books. Why are all research strong males ending up with weak as hell partners. Nothing about these stories are realistic.

Good Read

I enjoyed reading this book. I like how you get some update on how people from Ellsberg (the parents) are doing. I like how she has weaves the characters from other clubs ( books) together.

Sweet but Deadly

That's how I'd describe the guy. He's a good, bad guy. When his girl stops running, he makes sure he's there for her.
Good seeing some people from other books too.

I love River and Maxine! I wish all these characters were real life so real life doesn't have to be so blah.
I always look forward to a Bijou Book because she creates the best friendships, relationships. and banter out of so many authors that attempt romantic comedy with rough and tough MCs.
