Was I surprised when I found out who was behind Pithos? Nope, not so much. I kinda figured it would be someone they were all familiar with and I had a few names bouncing around in my head. The person responsible for all of the horrors was someone on my list. Who are they? Ummm... read the books to find out!

So Hades is the King, god of the Underworld, and he seems to be hot as sin. Everything of death (and I'm guessing life) is his domain. Persephone has two gifts — life and death. And because of these gifts, her mother has kept her away from Hades' grasp. She's been led to believe that he's someone to fear. However, one reckless night six years ago showed Persephone that more than her gifts could be at stake... and her heart couldn't take it.

"You're dark and beautiful and all the cursed things belong to you," Persephone sighed as sleep began to pull her away. "And I'm so very, very cursed."

Six years later, they haven't forgotten each other. Too bad she knows who he is and he doesn't have a clue who the mystery woman who haunts him really is. Until he does and no one, not even the female herself, is going to keep them apart.

He would never be able to predict what she would do, and he loved it even though it frustrated him at the same time.

Okay, so I didn't like this one as much as the previous books. I assumed, with how much I liked the first two heroines, that I would automatically like Persephone. I didn't. For most of this book, I had to keep reminding myself that she was in her 30s because she acted and reacted like a teenager or new adult. It was annoying. While I'm supposed to be sympathetic because her goddess mother kept her sheltered and oppressed, my understanding only reaches so far. Ah well, at least I had all of the other characters to make it up to me.

Hermes is next and he's one broken god of thieves. And you know I can't resist the broken ones. I've already got it lined up!

All the ingredients of a good romance book are here; an alluring dark non man whore hero, a sexually experienced heroine, Greek gods, and the fact that I’m a sucker for a hades and Persephone retelling.

But no.

It really all comes down to writing, and this book wasn’t doing it for me. Weird, overly quirky characters, a plot that gets in the way of the romance, too many side characters interrupting the story, and bait and switch sexual tension.

Decent. I like how strong Persephone was but her personality was just okay. I liked Hades but he turned into a sap a little too quick for me. The best thing about this series was how they were celibate and pining after each other in the separation, and their powers. I think I might read the next book, but the cover for it is a real big turn off, egh.

There are many variations of the Hades/Persephone story out there but Alessa's version was next level!

Our favourite death Daddy - Hades' depth of heart has been shown in the first two books but we finally get to dive deeper into his past which I absolutely savoured.

And Persephone?! Well I'm just going to say it - this is the best depiction of the goddess I have ever read and I could not get enough of her.

The King and Queen of Styx. This story was fast paced, filled with tension and an all consuming love I devoured. But, with a FMC who takes no sh*t. Absolute perfection.

4/5 ★ Hades and Persephone! Oooooh sooooo smoking hot Hades. There's juuuuuust something about an all powerful dark god that really does it for me.

THOUGHTS
Picking up where we left off, Hades is super pissed at Pithos... he decides to kidnap Persephone to get some answers he thinks she has, and BAM! turns out she's the woman he had an interrupted sexy encounter with six years prior...

She's a little pissed she's been kidnapped, but that doesn't really cloud the undeniable attraction between them... Annnnnnd sexy times.

Another fun romp. More info about the (bad-guys) Pithos gang, and a bit of backstory on Hades and the Court of Styx and why he feels so passionate about his peeps.

I wish there was a little more to this one, just because I liked it so much, but I also am totally fine with the shorter book that leaves me wanting more.

Okay. This will be my first review here, so please without much criticism.
So I love Greek mythology and with the addition of romance = is just say that it definitely would be my favorite afternoon.
After reading Medusa, I didn't think that I would love any of these books more, but still...

I LOVE HADES <3

I didn't expect Hades to be such a soft heart and Persephone would be so fiery and brave.
"Fuck you glove" outright brilliant.
I loved the exchange between them, a slight scuffle fueled by emotions.
And the fact that the menacing dark lord of the underworld knows how to cook and has a light OCD on his kitchen just put me apart.

Honestly, I imagined the Demeter a little differently, I liked her in myths, but here she just seemed less motherly ...
However it was not about her but about court.
I like the fact that with each subsequent book you can see more and more how these people are important to each other...
Ariadne in this book also gives a good show
So ... everyone should read this."HADES" is a light, funny book that everyone who love paranormal romance will love.

Hades and Persephone are the perfect enemies to lovers story. Alessa Thorn did great with them. It felt traditional in some aspects but also fancied up.

Persephone is much more of a spitfire in this. And the first time she meets Hades? Wow. Hot. She pushes boundaries and flirts with the boys like she owns them. Her powers were really cool and they complimented Hades’s own powers.

Hades is all business looking on the outside but he already demonstrated his cheeky side in Asterion. I especially love his relationship with Ariadne. But he is pure dominant with Persephone. He is a little OCD which is funny to watch Persephone purposely wreck his life. Her temper tantrums that she takes out on his yard? Hilarious.

This one has some of the best heat in my opinion. There is a specific scene in Hades’s office that has my face heating every time I read it. The main conflict in this one didn’t have me as wrapped up as the first two but I still really enjoyed it.

So far all these couples have different situations and tropes going on. Each one is like a new one.

I really enjoyed this book!

I love Hades and hate how under appreciated he is as a deity. I’m glad we got to see more of his softie side. He has such a loving relationship with all his court, and he is very much a protector. I love that Persephone and him end up together in this version of their story. I love their love story and them as a couple. Hades would really do anything for his queen.

Persephone is a very crazy badass lol! Her personality was a little lacking but then again this is mostly told on Hades perspective so we don’t get to hear much of her even if we did have her POV occasionally.

I know all the reviews say they aren’t surprised about who’s behind Pithos but like I’m so confused as to who Pandora is in the Greek mythology. I guess I’ll have to read up on it but damn a whole other book where they escape lol. I am however, excited to read about Hermes! That lil trickster.

I’ve been so excited to get to Daddy Hades’ book! I really loved Alessa’s twist on the Hades/Persephone myth. Banter, chemistry, heat, mixed with a little grumpy/sunshine, this book was even more than what I expected! So much fun!
Bonus star to Ariadne and the triplets 🤭

I’m still looking for a great Hades x Persephone retelling and this one was a good read.
I have to say that I had zero expectations (I didn’t knew the author and her writing at all, the only reason I picked this book was because I got it free on Amazon) but I ended up enjoying it much more that I thought. And now I’m even curious with the other characters and stories from this world.

Hades was a good character and I loved to see how he appreciated and fought for the people he cared about. Persephone was a great character too, all independent and not afraid to fight for what she wanted.
These two were really hot together and I loved to see how they complement each other and help each other being better.

I’m really happy I picked this book up because it was seriously a good surprise. I enjoyed Alessa’s writing even if there were a few typos throughout the book.
This was a fast and overall good read. I’ll pick the other books of the series (and maybe other Alessa’s books) soon.

3.5 stars. I wanted to like this book so much, as I enjoyed the first two quite a bit, but I couldn't get over how Hades was portrayed. In the first books he's the strong, confident, silent type. Intimidating and knows what he wants, but then we get this book and he's suddenly a total softy and a bit insecure? I wasn't much of a fan of Persephone either, she's a 33 year old woman that acts like a teenager and EVERYONE loved her. She was too much of a Mary Sue for me.

However, I'll still keep going with the series.

I got a few light Daddy vibes at first, but while it has some of the elements, if that’s not your thing, it’s nothing more than a hint. Persephone is younger, and wild, she’s so chaotic that Hades is way out of his depths with her in places, which is what he needed, a woman that shook him up, and boy does she do that. They fit together and it’s incredibly hot too. Loving this series so hard.

So this took me a long time to read and I mean a long time to read. Eighteen days for 203 pages when I can usually read that in just over a couple of hours? This is the second time I’ve read Alessa Thorn’s work and I had a similar issue with loving the concept of the book and the storyline but just struggling to grasp a connection to it.

Either way, I have a few things to say about the book, a couple of them which may be reasons that whilst make the book a lower ranking for me, may be something that others are able to look past and love, so, first, I’m going to start with the positives:

• Even though Hades is the third book of the series, it can easily be read as a standalone. There wasn’t anything in the plot that I was confused about because I started at book three, everything was explained well which is great if you want to just dive straight into Hades and Persephone’s story.

• I loved the dynamic between Hades and Persephone; it was great how they’d met before and there was the tension and angst behind a reunion six years in the making that the two of them were pining for. The alignment of their powers was incredible to read and I love how they complimented each other in that manner. It really allowed Persephone to grow into her own person and develop a confidence that was beautiful to see, and I love it when Persephone has an element to darkness to her as well as the light and nurturing side within her, so Thorn done an excellent job with that.

• It was great to see Persephone having some female friends! Usually in adaptations when Persephone is in the Underworld, Persephone only really has the chance to befriend males I’ve found, from the exception of one adaptation I’ve read, so it was great to see her having positive female interactions in her life rather than one sole negative one with Demeter, and in some cases with Minthe due to jealousy.

And this, unfortunately, brings me to the negatives:

• Like I said, Ariadne and Medusa’s growing friendship with Persephone was great. However, the presence of Ariadne and Asterion in the book was what made me feel uncomfortable and it was mentioned in the first chapter to help with a recap to readers. As someone who has intensively studied Ariadne for my dissertation, in my mind Ariadne and Asterion are firmly siblings. Every adaptation is different and I can understand and respect that, but I personally cannot separate them from what I am used to, and for me, it is them two as siblings and Ariadne having a very strong sisterly love towards Asterion and enduring severe distress at the loss of him becoming known as the Minotaur. Ariadne’s personality, in general, is incredibly different to what I know her so it just didn’t work for me. I do feel as if y’know, you’re not as closely familiar with the myth as I am or you’re able to separate from it then it’s a dynamic that you may be able to thoroughly enjoy. I just personally couldn’t and it was a struggle whenever they were mentioned, which was frequently.

• Although the plot was good, and, as I said before, there is a great concept I just felt as if there was nothing there that seized me and made me fall in love with it. The execution just felt a little underwhelming for something that could have been fantastic.

Like I mentioned, I don’t think that my points are specifically negatives that mean the book isn’t for everyone. I think it’s because of my personal reading experience and the kind of depth I need to fully entice me in a book. If the positive points I mentioned are things that you’re looking for in a read, I would recommend giving it a go! It was just a little disappointing for me.

This series continues to be surprisingly engaging.

I will say though, that of the three I've read so far, I think this one was the least gripping. There are just so many Hades and Persephone retellings that it takes a lot for one to truly grip me, and this I think just wasn't long enough to get that done.

A few things though. I love how forward Persephone was in this book. The fact that she is the one to approach Hades initially and get that whole ball rolling was very fun. Also the fact that she was born with powers of life and death, instead of coming into death powers after meeting Hades, which is usually how these stories go.

Another thing I appreciate, is that Hades actually does kidnap her in this book. Often times, the kidnapping is metaphorical or a technicality, but here? Nope. Straight up kidnapping. Which, yes, is not a good look, but Ariadne kills Asterion in their book and Hades never hurts Persephone in this one, so really, whoes relationship started off rockier? I just apricate the author sticking to that aspect of the story instead of handwaving it away.

The best thing about this book, are sort of tertiary things. Seeing Asterion and Ariadne being domestic. Medusa and Perseus sharing a dance. Danae declaring that Lola is going to be her girlfriend. Also, the big reveals about the leader of Pithos and the Inventor. The reveal about the Inventor, and the epilogue, was gripping enough that I jumped right into the next book, eager to find out what is going to happen with him.

So, while this book didn't do a lot of things different, it was still a good time, and the stuff around it great. This series is much better than I was expecting.

It just keeps getting better!

I have really been looking for more Greek mythology based romance books, so I decided to give this series a try. It did not disappoint!

Hades is the third book in this series.

Everyone knows the story about Hades and Persephone, but do they really? After finding out that the woman he is obsessed with finding is his arch-nemesis daughter, Hades is not deterred from trying to keep her. Persephone, who has more than one power tries to keep away from Hades in fear he will try to “own” her. But, the two have such chemistry that it is impossible.

With PITHOS coming to light more, Persephone may have the key to finding out more about them. But, she’ll have to reveal her big dark secret.

Full of action, mystery, magic and steamy scenes, this book is hard to put down.

I would recommend this to any paranormal/mythology romance fan. This series should be read in order to fully understand the storyline.

Could use some editing for typos and what not. It wasn’t awful, but could be better if they were tidied up.

I was surprised that Demeter was truly so awful. It seems all the “good” Greek gods were horrid, and the “bad” turn out to be like anyone else. Hades falling so easily and admitting it was also a surprise but I liked it.

Though Persephone was too much of a brat. Her antics, meant to be endearing I’m sure, were a tad too immature at times and I felt like she was a child compared to Hades. I mean I guess in lifespan she’s barely an infant compared to him. But I didn’t love her character as his match, but I still rooted for them. Especially because of how Hades felt about her.

Loved the addition of Cerberus too.

And we finally find out who the woman in the mask behind Pithos is, as well as the inventor in the cage.

And I don’t know which book image is more recent, but I don’t like this book cover. The kindle pack has a much better one.

😭 Triste, muito triste. . . 😭 Não consegui entender o que aconteceu. . . 🤷🏻‍♀️
A Série The Court of the Underworld estava indo incrivelmente bem, então 🤦🏻‍♀️ (puff), estava super ansiosa para ler o livro do Hades, e imaginando que encontraria uma Persephone fodona, como a Medusa e a Ariadne, e encontrou uma menininha que mais me deu sono 😴, que vontade de não ler o livro. . . Finalizei, mas super decepcionada. . . 😞
Boa leitura e até o próximo. . . Happy reading, and until the next reading. . . 😘

A Hades and Persephone retelling where he kidnaps her only to realize she is the woman whom he has been pinning for after she ran away from him 6 years ago. It is a short fast-paced shallow type read to entertain you for a day, and I enjoyed their relationship. I am going to binge this paranormal romance series so I appreciate how the author so far has managed to make all the couples be different from one another (even if I am still not a fan of how lackluster the emotional connection between them is)

It was nice to see put together Hades lose his marbles over this woman and how he helped her come into her power. I would have loved more chemistry between them. The sex keeps improving by a margin in each book so that is nice as well.

Overall, a book I will forget about but still not the worse read.

Decent romance, i was annoyed by the spelling and grammar mistakes I saw, but i liked the story overall.
I don't understand how persephone first was doing everything possible not to let hades find out about her powers, and then 2 minutes later gave everything away. Also the word "sunshine" was used WAY too many times.

I think it's good that you don't necessarily need to read the other books in the series to know what's going on and who's who, but i'm sure that for anyone reading this from the beginning it must be repetitive.
I enjoyed how hades and persephone's powers worked, it added an extra layer to their relationship and the sexual tension. I wish there was more build up of sexual tension but they waited 6 years so I get the rush lol.

I can't get enough of Hades and Persephone!!! Ugh they are adorable!!! And honestly the best characters! I love how Erebus, Charon, and Thanatos were trailing after Persephone like lost puppies. This retelling made me laugh so hard at the way she acted with everyone. And The spit fire personality only the queen of the underworld could wield. She really fit in with the group. On top of some amazing spicy scenes, bad ass women, and more of the group, more of pithos was revealed. A lot more actually. I'm shocked at some of the revelations. And absolutely pissed at how demeter acted!! Unbelievable! So glad Persephone saw the truth and learned what she wanted to do and be. I'm looking forward to her kicking more ass and the girls days she will have with Medusa and Ariadne

Yes to Hades

Gods, I am loving this series. Thorn's story telling keeps getting better. This is Thorn's version of Hades and Persephone, it's great story that gave me all the feels. Hades and Persephone have similar powers and when unleashed it makes a deadly or exotic combination. I loved the banter between Hades and Persephone it was like foreplay. Thorn has a hit with Hades. The first three stories of this series have been amazing and I personally can't wait for Hermes story.
I highly recommend reading this series in order get a better understanding of the storyline and characters. So one click or pick up copy via KU. Happy Reading!
