Two weeks. No strings. No messy emotions.
Those were the terms Mila Lawson offered Roman Gregory when they found themselves living together in Santa Cruz. Now that the ATF agent is sharing his life with his daughter's twenty-two-year-old best friend, he's finding it more and more difficult to deny what he's felt for her since the day they met.

With a drug cartel threatening to go to war and his daughter becoming increasingly suspicious, the last thing Roman should be thinking about is keeping Mila by his side. He's never wanted much, but he wants her…and he's willing to break more than a few of his own rules to convince the feisty little blonde to put her heart in his hands.

For Mila, falling for Roman might just be the most terrifying thing she's ever done. Trusting him with her body is one thing, but with her past still hanging over her, she knows all too well that the scary hot man who drives her wild has the power to destroy her.

As their time in Santa Cruz draws to a close and the world beyond their little stretch of beach closes in on them, Roman and Mila will be forced to confront the truth about their relationship and make decisions neither could have imagined.

But who said falling in love would be easy?

I have an addiction with this story. It's definitely sensual and altogether passionate. The chemistry between the characters in every intimate scene is riveting.

Roman and Mila get deeper into their illicit relationship, though it has consequences on their feelings. Something this giant cop is having difficulties to deal with. Therefore, there's some drama as she feels a bit rejected. I really liked the way they were unsure how to proceed until they could finally be honest with each other. From that moment on, this wicked hot tale gets tremendously possessive.

They cement their bond up until a crushing disruption in their bubble of love which tests both characters in their determination and what they stand for. I'm nervous as to how they're going to solve that tricky situation, and if Roman's job is going to catch up with him. So excited about the final part!

If you haven't read my review on the first book, the reason I read this, is because Nichole Rose is Ayden K Morgan, and NR plans on re releasing a 'no cheating between MMC' version of this story. I love Nichole Rose, so I could not wait a month to read "Mister Gregory", so I got the original to read. I never read any of her books as Ayden K Morgan, but I love Nichole Rose, and I could not wait. What a mistake that was. This was a miserable read, I hated it!
Continuation of the first book, "Devour Me", The first book ended in him fucking Mila ordering her to say she is all his, Mila screaming that she is his. One thing to note is that they don't sleep with others after the first book, but there are still things I hated in this one. They haven't slept or dated or done anything with anyone else since the beginning of the 1st book all the way til the end of the last. That is something I guess. *shrug*
We star off with Ronan waking up and starts fucking Mila. His phone rings and it's his daughter Talia, she is worried about him and Mila. Both Mila and Ronan struggle with keeping their relationship a secret from her. He is hard for Mila, talks about how obsessed he is for her, and bla bla, the cartel is dangerous he wants her in his life, but his job is dangerous bla bla so he lashes out when she wants to go to LA with him, she cries and he apologizes. Want more OW comparisons? Here are a few more,

Quote,
"I've never been big on kissing. When I was with someone before, kissing was a means to an end… just a way to help get us both off. But I could kiss Mila all fucking day and still not have enough of the way her mouth works with mine."

How sexy, him thinking of his past experiences when he is balls deep in Mila. *heavy eye roll*

Quote,
"I'm not a small guy. I'm not delicate. I like it hard and rough.
I love that she gives it back to me as good as she gets it."

Quote, (when he ties her down)
"I fucking wish I had ropes here to tie her with, but I've always been afraid Talia would find them. That's not a conversation I plan to ever have with my daughter, so I keep that kind of shit in Los Angeles where she's never been. Deciding neckties will do, I walk toward the dresser across the room and grab two from the drawer."
He has ropes he likes to tie down women with when he fucks them. Not exactly a special experience when he does it to Mila. Ok, so the story is short, and it is tons of fucking and keeping it a secret from Talia. He tells Mila he has to go back to LA, and she gets upset, she tells him her job interview is in LA, he lashes out yelling that it is out of the question she goes there with him and storms off. She cries, he hears her and like a pussy, he leaves her alone crying, instead of consoling her. Oh, and we get another lovely insight in his player life.

Quote (when he storms off after yelling at Mila),
"I'm shoving my feet into my shoes when I hear her crying. The soft sound wrecks me. I want to go back to her, tell her I'm sorry, but I can't. I'm on the verge of losing control completely, and I don't know what I'm going to do when it happens. I would never hurt her, I know that much.
But the emotion clawing through me is vicious, and I don't know where the fuck it leads. I've always fucked my way through it, getting lost in some tight little body when I needed to mellow out. But I can't do that with her. She means too much. Christ. I have to get the fuck out of here."

He would never leave her but he just said he would, he would never hurt her but he just did. He wanted her forever and made her let him in, promising her that he doesn't want only two weeks with her, and she opened up to him, trusting him, only for him to push her away and question himself. What a fucking dolt! This piece of shit really does all the thinking with his dick.

Quote (he is on the beach thinking, dick flopping in his sweats),
"What the fuck am I going to do? Where the fuck did I think this was going to lead? When I told her to let me in, when I told her we'd figured it out, what the fuck did I think was going to happen?.....I want to be the kind of person who can give her everything she deserves, but I don't know if I am that man. I don't know if I can be."

Quote (still on the beach thinking, dick flopping in his sweats),
"Mila doesn't know anything about that type of life. She deserves more than spending nights waiting up, worried about whether or not I'm going to make it home. She deserves more than having to constantly watch her back, not sure if someone I took down is going to crawl out of the gutter and come after her."
By the way, that is how they live their life in the third book. He keeps her in Santa Cruz and goes back and forth from there to LA. Also, he does fail her and they do find her because drug buster can drive. I think he forgets that if he can drive from Santa Cruz to LA, so can his enemies. SHOCKER! *deadpan* Fucking idiot..
He realizes that since they met 4 years ago, she was his, and somewhere in those 4 years he fell in love with her. *huffing in disappointment shaking my head* Nah....No....he says that in his inner monologue; he even says it out loud to himself "You're in love with her", but no he wasn't, and no he isn't, I just don't believe it. He knew that she has abandonment issues with her father, then with the ex boyfriend, and now he breaks her heart and leaves, but he wants to be there for her and never hurt her. Nothing he did in those 4 years makes that true. Her inner monologue says the same about loving him later on in book 3 I think, but I don't believe her either. So she was in love with him fantasizing about him, but had a happy relationship with another man for 2 years. These two really deserve each other.
He thinks of all the words of love to tell her, finally makes his way back to the condo taking his sweet time. He finds her lying on the bottom of the steps having fallen. He hurries to her thinking she is dead relieved when she is alive, he says he is sorry, and hurriedly takes her to the hospital. She is in pain and gives him the silent treatment. She has bruised ribs and a knot on her head. When she is cleared she doesn't want him to touch her, so the male nurse puts her in the car, and he sees red. They get back to the condo and he sees her half packed bags and gets mad that she was going to leave....when he just said he was leaving! He explains that he wasn't leaving her behind, that he wants her with him, but he fears for her safety, but wants her with him in LA. They discuss their issues, he says he has been half in love with her for years and he loves her, she says she is falling in love with him. They kiss and makeup, but no sex since she is healing. She is horny, he puts sex off the table for her to heal. She tells him that she never knew how good sex could be, at least not with her ex. He didn't like that she compared him to her ex.
He talks to his cop buddy whom he's been avoiding. He cares for him so he calls and they talk, his buddy wants out of the danger of being a cop seeing it almost cost him his wife's life. He wants his wife safe so he wants out. Roman is also thinking of retiring to be with Mila (we know that doesn't happen anytime soon though). She talks to him about finding a place in LA, he gives her keys to his house in LA and asks her to move in with him. They have sex, he professes his love to her so does she, then he tells her that she hasn't said yes to moving in, to which she does say yes.
Someone breaks in she hides and he investigates, turns out it's only Talia and she finds them naked. She faces them feeling betrayed and after an exchange, she leaves the condo, leaving Mila and Roman together. Mila doesn't want to be in the way of father and daughter, but he refuses that she leaves, that they will face it together and she will come around (which she does in book 3).

Quote, (when Talia asks if him fucking Mila was just because he had easy access. He says no it wasn't like that for them.)
"Even when Mila proposed it as two weeks of commitment-free sex, it was never that for me. I know it was never that for her, either."
Hmm, yes it was only fucking when they started. Don't know why now the story wants us to sway into believing it was deeper than that. It wasn't. She, at the beginning wanted to fuck to get over her ex and she was always wet for Roman. He wanted to fuck her out of her system saying, what man would refuse when a woman offers no strings attached sex, besides he always wanted to fuck her so he said yes. It wasn't heartfelt, there was no romance, no passion, it was just fucking.

Quote, (one more OW quote since this saga is full of them),
"I've never dated, and I never brought the women I fucked around Talia. She's never met a single woman that I've slept with. She knows that for me to be saying that I'm in love with Mila, it means something."
Glad he kept that away from his daughter, but still.... *puke*

He again is an idiot hurting his daughter, she pleads for him to tell him the truth, all of it, about his job, Mila, all of it. He knows hiding it is hurting Talia, she tells him he is hurting her by keeping quiet and he STILL won't tell her what he hides from her because he feels she doesn't need to hear it right after finding out about him and Mila. Listen you idiot, she just told you to open up to her, and quit lying, and what do you do? You keep lying!
He says something so unbelievable, this man slut says that Mila is the woman who has been the center of his world since he met her 4 years ago.....BAHAHAH!! Talia leaves saddened. Mila is crying and tells him he has to go to his daughter. He swears that he will fix things and never give up on either his daughter or Mila, never choosing between the two and that he will do things right not giving either of them up.
It ends on another cliffhanger.

I am not going to bother writing a review for the 3rd or 4th book so here is what I remember from speed reading/skimming through them. Here is the gist of what I remember.
The third book they get pregnant, and he is always on 'mission' in LA missing busting the drug cartel, and he is missing out on the pregnancy since he is away for so long. He comes back to her throughout the book to fuck her and to have pillow talk only to be called to go to LA again. More things happen, I lost interest really, I skimmed through book 3 and 4 but it is sooo long and it dragged on and on. I know she is in danger from the Cartel that she and Talia were taken I think. She and Talia are friends still, Talia just needed some time to wrap around the fact her dad is fucking her best friend, and it is because it was them both keeping it a secret from her that upset her most. She is happy her best friend is pregnant and I admit they were sweet to reunite.
The 4th book is them settling down, but it is full of so many characters that I just couldn't keep up. So much of the cops vs drug dealers and so many side character with intros to their story.
I picked a book from a character in particular to read. It is called "Fight For You" a friends to lovers/ second chance story from the same author and I wrote a review on it. It is dower, bleak, depressing, there is cheating during separation (in my opinion, the heroine tried to date and the hero tried to fuck but when he got his dick out he would not go through with it, so to me it is cheating). The hero is a pussy, and the heroine has her part of the blame in him leaving, so I do not recommend it.
I wanted to see if more of Ayden K Morgen books were like these ones, and they are, only I can really see the Nichole Rose part in it. The passion, and the 'claiming' is there, but because of unworthy characters giving up, moving on with others, the MMC avoiding one another sleeping with other people while pinning, it makes every experience they go through when the get together feel wrong, their relationship feels cheap, the "love" is flimsy and the "passion" is lukewarm. Had they been 100% Nichole Rose heroes and heroines we know and love, that are each others one and only, with no OW/OM to speak of, no cheating or even a fleeting thought of cheating, and the hero sticks to the heroine like glue as soon as he sees her with that sweetness between them only Nichole Rose can write, these stories would have been a hit. But that means completely changing it. I am regretting reading these books, I am dreading Nichole Rose's "Mister Gregory" having read the original material and I am terrified that Ayden K Morgen will resurface, and Nichole Rose will wither away.
She is bringing out another miserable read "Fight For You" by Ayden K Morgen and I reviewed that as well.

Destroy Me, the second book in the Her Best Friend's Father series, and it's pretty caliente. I would warn that this series really should be read in order. With books one and two, a person could read them alone but you'd miss 75% of the plot!

Speaking of plots... Book one, Devour Me, brings Mila and Roman together, the best friend and father of Talia. And boy do they get together!! (PS Ayden if you know of any extra Romans, send them my way!!) Destroy Me is more about the actual relationship between Mila and Roman, how it progresses and how they each react to the progression. I have to say that Ayden writes some of the most realistic characters I've read recently. They talk and think like me and my friends. Seriously, you never know what I might say!! And when you read all these books that sound like Harvard English professors, you start to wonder if there's a problem with you or the way they are written.

I digress. (I know some medium to big words, I just don't ALWAYS use them!) I would give this book 5 stars!! The series so far gets 5 shooting stars!! If you like experienced, dirty talkin, got as they come, goody two show-bad boys, Roman Gregory is the hero for you!!! His chosen last is a sweet sounding, curvy, innocent looking, absolutely gorgeous co-ed looking for her first "big girl job", since she got fired from the place she'd interned at when she caught her ex boyfriend in bed with her boss. She totally won with Roman, even if she is unemployed!! Watch for DEFEND ME on May 15, 2019, for the hopefully multi-climactic ending to Her Best Friend's Father series!! I know I'm on pins and needles!!

Book 2 is just as hot and steamy as book 1. If you haven't read Devour Me, please don't read any further in this review. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Mila and Roman are closer than ever and enjoying being with each other more than ever. They are realizing that two weeks are not going to be enough, but how to make it work. They both admit that they love each other and have for a long time, but real life, and not their beach ideal life is going to test that love. First Roman has to come to terms with having Mila close plus dealing with his undercover ATF job. Both Mila and Roman have to figure out how to tell Roman's daughter and Mila's best friend about their new found love and relationship and hope that she can accept it and them in this new light.

Although this book isn't very long it had me laughing, crying, moaning, heart racing and seeking a cold shower. Ms. Morgen can pack a lot into 80 pages. I so cannot wait to get my hands on book 3 and find out if Mila and Roman can make a life together.

Destroy Me is the second part of the serialized novella that stars Roman and Mila from Devour Me. Do NOT read these out of order or you will be lost, and loose many key points.

In this part we actually get to see more about their relationship, not just the physical part. In Devour Me they had realized that they wanted more than just sex from each other. This takes them by storm, it's almost like trial and error because Roman has never had anything more than a physical relationship with anyone. And Mila has always had, whats that term, oh yeah “fuck boys,” yep I said it. As things progress the reality of life hits them in the face with Mila's no existent job to Romans ongoing case from work. Their fantasy bubble pops and in pours subjects that they haven't fully discussed. A few events occur that tamper with their new found relationship.

It becomes will they or won't they?

You must read the rest of the series, if you want to see some dirty talking man showing a young inexperienced woman what love can be like.

Defend Me comes out on May 15.

In the first book of this series, Devour Me, Mila and Roma gave into their years-long attraction to each other. They expected this to be based in lust, and were willing to accept a looming expiry date. It also allow them to try and overlook the fact that Roman is Mila’s best friend’s father.

In this second book they realize their feelings run deeper than mere lust, and it takes some trial and error to come to terms with this. The reality of Mila’s job hunt and the problems surrounding Roman’s ongoing case further complicate matters. A disagreement, nasty fall, and a security scare combine to escalate the situation.

While Roman and Mila have to deal with events and people from their day-to-day lives more now, they are still in their Santa Cruz bubble. When that bubble finally pops, things promise to become interesting, perhaps even troublesome. Until then, their chemistry remains sizzling, resulting in some tantalizing love scenes.

Their Terrifying Love

A great read of this 2nd book in Her Best Friend’s Father Series. Ayden K. Morgen is certainly becoming a prolific author to look out for when choosing your reads, this read being no exception and one I would highly recommend. A gripping salacious read told from both Roman and Mila’s POV. Will Roman end his relationship with Mila for his daughter Talia, a relationship with an expiration date? WIll Mila be ruined by her big, bad, Controlling rough Roman? Roman knows Mila deserves better and not to be his dirty secret, but can he let her go and yet still keep her safe? Can Talia forgive their secrets and lies, if she find out? Can Roman do the right thing in his choices?

As scorching hot as the last, this is yet another short but satisfying read from Ayden K. Morgen. This book continues exactly where the first left off, allowing us to dive further into Mila and Roman's relationship. These two sizzle off the pages and you can't help but fall in love with them as they grow within the relationship. I will warn the reader, this book ends in a somewhat kind of cliffhanger. Nothing that will leaving you screaming, but something that leaves your heart aching and you practically begging the author for the next book.

A great continuation of this series, well written, great character chemistry with some added depth and background. Good flow to the storyline and I'm looking forward to the next and final installment of this series and to see if Roman and Mila will get their HEA, will Mila and Talia be able to stay BFFs and can Roman keep himself and everyone he loves safe from the dangers of his job?

Cliffhanger

I loved this story. I am waiting impatiently for the final book. Mila and Roman are so good together. I have devoured the first two books. The feels are so real for these characters. I love the tension with Roman's job and his daughter. But he way he connects with Mila stole my heart. I preordered the final story and will be counting the days until I get their hopefully happy ending.

This is the continuation of Mila and Roman’s steamy romance-The only complaint I have is that it wasn’t longer. The scenes were well written, the descriptions were amazing, and it makes you want to put yourself in the character’s shoes. Another stellar writing performance from Ayden K. Morgen!
