There was this instant attraction when James came through the door of the Sweet Delights bakery. I felt my body relax, and the thought “there you are” drifted through my head. It was all I could do to nod and accept his invitation to dinner.
After that, things were crazy, and we had to postpone a few days. Talking to James outside of the bakery after Lexi was held captive, I felt the same sizzle in my blood. Now though, I am starting to doubt if this is a good idea.
I don’t trust easily. My parents hate each other, their marriage is cold and dead. Growing up, I learned that marriage meant icy comments under your breath but smiles and affection in public.
Lexi and my Mother were right; I did have the capacity to love, and every marriage didn’t have to be like my parents. I was going to get out of my own way and really let my feelings for James blossom. It feels as if a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I sit back and allow myself to imagine a future with him; it doesn’t scare me as much as I thought it would.

I stood in place for a moment, not being able to breathe as her eyes met mine. It took all of my strength to act casual and order my pastry and coffee. My brother, Colin, had called the night before to tell me that he thought he had met the woman of his dreams I scoffed, but now I understood. One look at Vinny, and I was lost.

I am voluntarily reviewing an advanced reader copy of this book.
Veronica or Vinnie as she likes to be known by didnt believe in love that is until her best friend and business partner fell hook line and sinker for policeman Colin. Having not had the best view on marriage she tends to shy away from anything that might turn to something real but when she meets James the hot firefighter her world is upended but can she trust him enough to give him her heart and if she dies will he break it?
Stopping by Sweet Delights after his brother raves about it he wasn’t ready for Vinnie, he felt connected to her in a way that he’s never experienced and when she agrees to a date he knows she is the one to make him whole but she’s guarding her heart from love, will she ever admit her true feelings and will she be in time?
This book felt more whole to me, it flowed really well, this was a totally safe read with a unsure heroine but a hero who was sure enough for them both. 3.8*.

Loved it
Brilliant second book of the series. Vinny never takes a chance on love and James walks into her life and starts removing barriers around her heart. James will wait for Vinny to tell him she loves him as he tells her but after he got jealous at his brothers engagement party and Vinny ran off he needs to get her back. Vinny received a message from James apologising for what happened and he loved her the next thing Lexi was running telling her James had been in an accident then she knew her heart belonged to him and she couldn’t lose him now she needed to tell him how much she loves him.

"James, an alpha Firefighter, and Vinny, part owner of a bakery." Absolutely loved this story. Great characters with awesome chemistry, and connections. Well written. This was quick, insta love, tragic, sweet, steamy, and romantic.

This is the second book in this series and you will not be disappointed. Another steamy quick read. I read it in one sitting. You will enjoy the journey of Vinnie and James. The fit well together and have sizzling chemistry. Looking to see what will come next.

Another good book
