BOONE I know a BS excuse when I hear one. And my new boss has thrown half a dozen at me about why we can't be together. I only have one thing to say to all of that. The number of fuc—uh—forks I give about what other people think about us is zero. A big fat goose egg. See! I've even learned to watch my language around her and the kid. I'm that serious about proving to this woman she needs to give me—give us—a chance. That it doesn't matter if she is a little older than me, or that I work for her, or that the Mudville gossip mill will definitely choose us as the topic du jour. All that matters is that I can prove to her that life, especially life in a small town, is so much better when you don't give a fu—um, I mean—fork. Darn it, that swear jar is going to bankrupt me.
SARAH I’ve sworn off men. It took me thirty-nine years and two huge mistakes in the romance department to come to my senses but I finally did. Work is my life now and that’s exactly the way I like it. That’s what makes it extra uncomfortable that the adorable three-year old I inherited for six months while my sister is deployed has chosen a hot, ripped twenty-something farmer as our new live-in nanny. Boone’s too nice, too sunshiny and too good with the boy for me to fire him, but dammit he needs to start wearing more clothes around the house because I’m one hard ab away from breaking my vow of celibacy with a man who’s ridiculously wrong for me in so many ways.
Zero Forks is an opposites attract, older woman younger man, steamy, grumpy boss romance set in Mudville, the crazy small town you’ve come to know and love.

It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
I have been keen (ha, I'm a poet!) for Boone's story from he start of this series, and Cat Johnson has not disappointed.
This is the second book in a row that has a manny, and I gotta say... me likey!
I adore the small town feel of this series. I live in a small town, so I completely get the lack of privacy and the gossipy nature of the book. You can't sneeze in my town without someone 2 streets over saying bless you, so I get Sarah reluctance to do things with Boone in public.
And my oh my, how freaking wonderful and adorable is Boone. I love his always happy go lucky attitude, and love love love the way he goes all in for Sarah from the start.
Not going to lie, every time I read Stewie, I did think of Stewie from family guy hahaha
And I also thought throughout the story that something might happen with Stewie's mum - am glad it didn't.
I can't get enough of the couples we have previously met, and I wouldn't say no to more of them in the future.
Boone. We all remember him as the adorable, fun & cheery youngest Morgan brother.
Now he'll finally get his own happily ever after!
Sarah is 39 and up for a huge promotion at work - just as her sister has to leave the country for her military job and Sarah has to take care of three year old Stewie.
Enter Mudville and Boone.
Sarah moves into town and hires him as a Nanny / Manny.
And next to his job on the family farm, other jobs for neighbors and friends and being a Nanny now too - he's busy trying to convince Sarah that he's the right man for her!
But it won't be easy, because the woman of his dreams is a tiny 13 years older than him and so not interested. Well, of course she is mega interested in the hot young guy. But what would people say? She can't fall for such a young guy, right?
LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!

Super Adorable!
Just like the first books in this series, this one was über-adorable and funny and small-towny and sparky and just totally sweet. I LOVED it!
Boone is such a sweet and cheery, happy person. And Sarah is such a cool business woman who has kinda sworn off men. But they would be so perfect for each other.
But the age difference! I'm not really a fan of huge age-gaps in romances, but it was soo adorable this time! I just loved reading this story. The words just raced from my kindle through my brain ... not like many other books, where you have to take breaks and go get a coffee every 15 minutes☺. This one wanted to be read in one go. I just adored everything in it!
I also loved seeing all the other people again!
I soo need to see this town on Netflix one day!
ZERO FORKS was such an adorable + funny + sweet small town reverse-age-gap love story! Run to your nearest amazon for your own Boone - this one is MINE!
Loved it. Great characters, lots of chemistry and of course some good laughs. I adore Mudville and want to move there myself. Fork Cat Johnson can write small town books so good!
We return to Mudville and Boone gets his story! Although this is part of a series, it can definitely be enjoyed as a stand-alone. If you have read the other books that take place in Mudville, you’ll be able to enjoy seeing those characters reappear. And if this is your first visit to that small town, I think it’s safe to say that you’ll want to check out the other books and learn more about it and Boone’s older brothers.
Boone, our hero in this book, is sincerely one of the good guys. Kind, hard-working, handsome, charming … a bit of a ladies’ man, but not in a sleazy way at all. Sarah, our heroine, is the “older woman” by a little more than a decade. She is a hard-working career woman who has had her heart broken, and has pretty much given up on love.
I don’t like giving spoilers because I think it’s best to let the story unfold in the way the author wants it to when you read the book. I will say though, that the way Boone gallantly effortlessly sweeps her off her feet is absolutely perfect. Logical realist Sarah finds herself torn between the shadows of her past, her preconceptions about age, and the reality of the man from Mudville who has come into her life. Sarah’s young nephew Stewie is critical to the plot and is a fun character in his own right. As Boone provides babysitting for Stewie, he also works on showing Sarah that their hearts matter more than their ages.
PSA: The “forks” replacing the Fs in the story reminded me of in The Good Place when they couldn’t curse so they all said “fork” all the time… classic.
But anyway, this story gave me what I wanted - even though I feel like it was a bit rushed at the end.
Sarah, insecure about her age, having to take care of her nephew for x amount of months somehow lands in Mudville. And bumps into Boone. I think this story captured the good-hearted, good-natured side of Boone which gave us some sort of way to know him but I feel like we could have gotten more out it. In Stone’s story we got the judgy, super farm-country guy who needed his walls broken down a little bit and then we got the overprotectiveness of Cash in not only his venture of Red but also in his taking in of the foster kid + dog. I guess I felt a little empty in Boone’s story because it was just the focus of his love story with no other nonsense mixed in… like Rose drama and/or family/friend drama.
We learned a bit about Sarah, hardworking, negative, insecureness but we didn’t really learn much about her other qualities that makes her into the woman that Boone falls in love with.
I do appreciate that Cat gave us the events that were mentioned earlier on in the story such as the awards ceremony and the wedding but I kind of wanted more out of their relationship and a bit more back and forth.
Overall, sweet story - very happy for Boone and glad the whole clan have now had the chance to live their HEAs.
I was most looking forward to Boone’s book. That’s why I’m a bit disappointed by this book. I didn’t like him that much as in the previous books. He came over as a young horny dog and I didn’t see the connection with Sarah except the physical one. In the previous books we all read Boone is kind of a manwhore, but that isn’t explained here. It felt like Sarah was one of his many conquests, because she is exactly the type of woman he chased before. Boone almost looks like a saint in this book, instead of the womanizer he is. Although I believe his feelings for Sarah are sincere in the end, I didn’t connect with this book as I did with the others. We didn’t see much of the other characters in this book, only a phone call with Brandon and a few lines for the rest. No Agnes and I love quirky Agnes! The 3 year old kid didn’t make up for it. Sometimes a kid character can be funny and save the book, this wasn’t the case in this book. Overall a bit disappointed, like the 3 other books much more.
Boone has been the lighthearted, joking playboy of the series so far, and it was fascinating to watch what happened when he found something he actually had to take seriously and work for. In looking after her nephew, Sarah had been afflicted with that most dreaded disease of the modern female: superwoman syndrome. Expecting herself to simultaneously be the perfect caregiver, the ultimate employee, and a relationship goddess. Now, as just about anyone with a lick of sense will tell you, any one of those is a tough role to fill, let alone all three at once. And, as might be expected, Sarah struggled to reach the high standards she set for herself. Having uncaring saboteurs tripping her up every time she turned around complicated matters even more but gave us readers some of the best moments of comedy gold. These two were so cute together. The focus on the age gap felt a little heavy-handed, but I also think that’s a product of our rather messed up society. I’m adoring everything about Mudville and I can’t wait to see what’s coming next.
Great reverse age gap. Cat Johnson has written another winner
Sarah is suddenly responsible for her three year old nephew while her sister is deployed. She is on her was back to the city after lick my him up when she stops in Mudville to get him something to eat. No-one helps her unlock the car with Stewie inside sleeping. Then he convinced her to rent the Van Due Berg house and he would be the nanny so she can commute with to work. when sparks fly she tries to convince Boone that he is too young for her. But he thinks age is jyst A number and it doesn't matter that she is older than him. Can he convince her to see things his way or will she continue to fight her feelings for him? I love how this plays out.
I will admit that this book started out a little slower for me. I don't know why. The characters were great and I enjoyed the introduction but it just took a little longer to get into. I'm glad I stuck with it though, I really grew to like it. I think the reason was Sarah. While I understood her and her concerns, it just didn't pop for me.
I loved Boone. I have enjoyed his character throughout this whole series and I'm glad we got his book. He was the perfect gentleman with a naughty side. He just oozed charm. I loved that he knew when to push and also when to pull back.
Top book so far in this series for me! Sarah is a marketing executive who takes on her three yr old nephew when her sister Liza gets deployed. What the hell is she going to do now? A stop at the diner in Mudville may just change everything! Boone is a man of many talents. In a matter of a few hours, he manages to become the live in manny for Stewie. There may be ulterior motives behind it, like an attraction to the lovely older woman! Now all he has to do is make her see just how good it could be! This book was sweet, sexy and oh so fun to read! Check out this series today!
Sarah works in advertising and is trying to be selected to work with a big client. Her sister has to leave for six months for training and was going to leave her son with their parents. Their father got sick and they are afraid he is contagious. Sarah is to take him. She somehow ends up in Mudville and meets Boone who is much younger than her. He convinces her to stay and rent a house of his friend, and let him be her love in nanny or manny. There is an attraction between them. Will they fight it? Will her insecurities get in the way? Come on in and find out. You’re going to laugh, get angry on behalf, and fall in love with the characters.
I'm usually not a fan of the age gap trope but Cat did this right. Boone was my favorite brother from the series and this book delivered in giving me more classic Boone while showing how good he was with Stewie. Sarah was the classic older woman, she'd been hurt and was scared to love again, especially not with a younger man. But Boone showed her age didn't matter and he was the right one for her. I'm so excited there are 3 more books coming in the series. I can't wait.
Boone is down to earth, full of charm and just plain happy. Not to mention ONE HOT MANNY! His glass half full outlook on life grabs onto Sarah's insecure glass half empty outlook on life and wins her over in the sweetest way. Watch Sarah go from feeling unloveable to a confident woman from the encoragement and love Boone has to offer. Great read. Love Cat's books.
This is my favorite so far in the series! Boone is the youngest and the most carefree of the bunch. Sarah comes to town with her nephew in tow and he comes to her rescue. He is convinced that they make a good team but Sarah is hesitant because she is older than he is. But what does age really matter? Sarah has her hands full with her nephew and a super hot manny. This is the kind of story you definitely feel good after reading.
Loving this dynamic of Mudville! Boone falling for Sarah was beautiful, sincere, and full of sweet love. Proving to her age really doesn't matter. Having little Stewie around just added that extra goodness, and the curse jar filled up fast I'm sure. A happy smile at the end of this HEA!
Chance meeting in a parking lot Sarah and Boone hit it off with the help of her nephew Stewie being accidentally locked in the car, slow chemistry between them on Sarah's part reluctant because of the age gap, Boone ends up being Stewie's manny, the age gap doesn't matter to the heart when love wins in the end, Mudville at it's best, thank you, Dana Zamora
These stories keep getting better and better! The tale of Boone and Sarah had even more than the others. These two were so opposite I was afraid it would never happen but when they did it was explosive, hot, tender and hilarious. I never thought Boone had it in him, what a man.
I was excited for Boone's story, but this was more than I imagined! And for as much as this story takes place in Mudville, there was more focus on Boone and his interest AND the Morgan Family Farm! But, still many of the characters we've come to love were present too! Just a great story with may laughs and a unique title! Love it!
I usually do not like the books were the female/male characters have such a great age gap….either way. I started this book because I liked the previous of the series. It was a nice surprise. I liked it very much.
A nice light read. I didn't find it as entertaining as the previous books in the series, but just the title - Zero Forks - made this book. I do enjoy the older woman getting the not going stud. Nicely done.
What a great idea. Boone is so fun and bright. Sarah was too workaholic. She needed Boone and Steele to lighten her up and show herself she was actually stronger than she felt. So happy that Boone found someone to be happy with.
I am loving the mudville series. Another great book from my go to author. I love all of Cat Johnson's books. Boone is such a sweet genuine guy. You will love his story. He deserves his H.E.A.
Love the Mudville Series. I was looking forward to Boone’s story and enjoyed reading it all tough it took me some pages to get into the story. I liked how Boone turned out to be a nice caring guy and slowly worked his way into Sarah’s heart.
I enjoyed the whole older woman / younger man angle but the story fell a little flat for me. I'm thinking because it wasn't really based on Mudville and the residents, but more city and Mudville was secondary.
I love this series located in Mudville, NY. They are satisfying, fast, and you get your HEA. Boone & Sarah was a wonderful mix of humor. And who doesn't just love the Morgan brothers?
Another great one in the Mudville stories. This is about youngest brother Boone and Sarah his boss and his senior by 13yrs. It is a forking good book!!
